How long did your induction last?

Been in for 15 hours now and not even the slightest twinge... they've even stopped checking on me.
I assumed with induction I'd be in some intense pain then out quite quickly.
How long did your inductions take? I'm so bored!

From pessary to artificial rupture of membranes to drip to baby 4 and a half days. Hang in there, it feels like it's taking ages now but you'll be home before you know it! Good luck :)

Jfw82 · 09/03/2018 15:26

Went in tues morning. Artificial rupture of me,brands on Thursday morning.DS arrived 1.30am Friday

Jfw82 · 09/03/2018 15:27

That should be membranes!i was walking circuits of the hospital to see if it would help- it didn't!

Lulu2515 · 09/03/2018 15:31

Thanks for your replies but nooooooo!
The main reason I didn't go for a c section is because I didn't want to spend too long in hospital and be away from DC1 for ages. This is rubbish.
I'm sure when they were explaining It, it sounded like it might take 2 days if that. *sob

Induced twice - and both times took a while - even though last one was number 4! Seriously the route should have been well lit by then!
It’ll be over before you know it, and you’ll have a beautiful baby!

Lulu2515 · 09/03/2018 15:46

Damn. I'm sure I read before coming in, people who had been induced and it took a couple of hours... how many box sets can I watch?!

OP posts:
Noimaginationforanotherusernam · 09/03/2018 15:48

More than you’ll be able to watch after the baby is born 😊. I read two books out of a trilogy. Third one took much longer

Royalsteph · 09/03/2018 15:49

I went in at 3pm on a Friday, dd was born at half five Saturday night. I had two pessaries overnight Fri, then waters broken at 7am Saturday, drip Saturday afternoon then dd was born.

MrsJayy · 09/03/2018 15:52

I didn't get the pessary i went from drip to ruption of waters it was 6/7 hours. I am sorry you are having to sit about and not even a twinge

cornishmumtobe · 09/03/2018 15:58

Went in at 11:30am on Thursday and had DS at 6:47pm on Saturday. And then had to endure a 5 day hospital stay post birth Sad

brewsandbooks · 09/03/2018 16:00

Pessary at 9.30pm waters broke at 2.30pm and baby at 9.34 the next day so 24 hours

Second baby was induced at 2.30pm waters went at 5.00am and baby at 5.05 am

I didn't stop walking from the second the induction started just keep moving would be my advice on first baby a porter had to take me back to ward as contractions started think and fast on a walk round the hospital

INeedToEat · 09/03/2018 16:00

First induction just under 12 hours (37 weeks).
Second induction almost 4 days (37 weeks).

Can be so different OP. Good luck !

bunnyrabbit93 · 09/03/2018 16:02

Hope it happens for you soon
My waters were broken and I was 3hrs 18 min x

RyanStartedTheFire · 09/03/2018 16:22

4 hours with two inductions. Some people take and some don't I'm afraid. Hope it goes quickly for you.

DuggeeHugs · 09/03/2018 16:27

Mine took 5 days and ended in a genuinely lovely CS. Keep walking, keep entertained with those box sets and hopefully you'll soon be snuggling your new baby Smile

YerAWizardHarry · 09/03/2018 16:29

Waters broke on Friday at 10pm
Admitted to hospital for induction at 12pm on Sunday
Emergency c section Tuesday evening, DS born at 6.13pm

littlemissminor · 09/03/2018 16:31

Induced 11:30pm Saturday, waters broke 3am Sunday and DD born 00:48 Monday!

Shaunieh95 · 09/03/2018 16:34

I'm getting booked in for my induction at my in appointment next week!

I'm gutted after reading all these I was ask under the impression if I went in in the morning I'd have my baby by evening at least 😩. I've just done 1 night on the maternity ward I don't think I could cope with 4 nights and then a labour!

autumncountryrose · 09/03/2018 16:39

Induced Wednesday morning 9am, contractions started 30 minutes later- baby born by emergency c section 3pm Friday afternoon!

Wowzel · 09/03/2018 16:41

Um...

I had the pessary on the Sunday evening, I had a sore leg about 8 hrs later. It was due to stay in for 24 hrs. By Monday evening the sore leg wore off - still no contractions or any other twinges. They left it in another 8 hrs. Still nothing but by now it was Tuesday morning and it got taken out!

I was then told I was top of the list to go to labour ward to have waters broken. Lots of people in labour jumped me in the queue.

27 hours later (!) I made it to labour ward where I waited 6 hrs for someone to come and break my waters.

Waters broken. It is now Thursday evening. No contractions.

Drip started....

Friday at around 5am - told I was 5cm dilated. Everyone very surprised as I had had barely any contractions on the monitor but the ones I had had were big ones.

9am - told I was 10cm and to push. Nothing really happened. Epidural wore off. Very sad.

11am - I had a hissy fit and wanted to see the doctor. Got examined and then taken to theatre

12.02 - baby born via EMCS on the Friday!

Not the best induction experience tbh.

Good luck to all those having babies or about to have babies. I'm sure you will all fare better than I did.

Lulu2515 · 09/03/2018 16:55

Ah so mixed. I feel I wasn't given all of this info!

Starting to have some lower back pain now but I'm not sure if that's me clinging onto hope. Went for quite a lengthy walk around lunch time which did me in. Just waiting for this evening now when they're going to remove the 24 hour pessary and examine me again.

RosaBaby2 · 09/03/2018 16:55

16 hours from first pessary to birth, good luck xxx

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 09/03/2018 17:10

Pessary put in about half one- baby born at quarter past eight. Fairly fast- although they warned me it could be three days. Second baby though if that makes a difference?

keeppassingtheopenwindows1 · 09/03/2018 17:11

I set off walking immediately- that was the only induction advice I was given- walk walk walk! Smile

WatchingFromTheWings · 09/03/2018 17:13

4 days of failed inductions for me. Ended up with emergency C-section.
