How long did your induction last?

Been in for 15 hours now and not even the slightest twinge... they've even stopped checking on me.
I assumed with induction I'd be in some intense pain then out quite quickly.
How long did your inductions take? I'm so bored!

That meant to say 24 hours of being on the drip

MagicFajita · 10/03/2018 09:36

Mine was 6 hours.

PandaEyes2 · 10/03/2018 09:36

Good luck. I was 10 days overdue, sweep and gel put on my cervix did the trick for me. Didn't have a pessary (no idea why). Went in 9am Friday morning. He was born Saturday morning 7.15am. Think it's so mixed though and honestly think he would have come in his own accord over the weekend anyway. All the best. You're on the last stretch now!

tortelliniforever · 10/03/2018 09:37

3 days - but that was almost all on the pessaries and absolutely nothing happening, followed by two very intensive hours on a drip! Good luck.

I was induced 3 times my first induction was at 39 weeks and the first peasary went in at 7pm and I began contracting but they stopped and I fell asleep around 2am. At 6am they broke my waters and I managed to get to 4cm but things were not picking up so at 10:30am they put the drip in my child arrived at 2:20pm. So all in all 19 hours

My second was at 37+6!! They skipped the pessary this time and went straight for the water at 1pm, nothing at all happened and they told me I was the only one today who didn’t go straight into labour which of course made me feel great!! At 5pm I had not dilated anymore than when I came in so they put the drip in... my baby’s head was not down and I didn’t seam to be dilating and things took forever at 5:30am I was contracting badly (or goodly) but still only had reached 3cm so was told things did not look promising for me at all 😔, after this examination my pains got worse and half an hour later I told her I was uncomfortable and needed to poop 😁, my baby arrived 11 minuets later lol, all In all around 17 hours.

My 3rd was the best I was almost at my due date and they broke my waters at around 7:30pm and I began contracting instantly and he arrived around 6 hours later.

All my inductions were for medical reasons and I’m avoiding one at all costs this time, bouncing on a ball really helped me and also this sounds crazy but they told me to stay with my partner as it released some hormone that helps early labour progress, I didn’t believe her except everytime the midwife walked into the room to talk to me my contractions stopped lol. But once labour had kicked in nothing stopped it

Lulu2515 · 10/03/2018 10:03

Still nothing happening and now I'm just on a waiting list for the Labour ward. I've had barely any sleep and I'm now 3 days away from DC1.
I'm fed up and in tears

That’s just rubbish, and such a shame. Hope you are properly in labour now. It must happen soon
Xx

hatetosayitoldyouso · 10/03/2018 13:34

Hopefully your on your way now and baby will arrive today. Good luck op 🌺

Lulu2515 · 10/03/2018 13:49

Thanks x still not much happening. They've taken pity on me and let me have a couple of hours away from the hospital before my next monitoring.

hatetosayitoldyouso · 10/03/2018 14:20

Aw no!!

Hopefully getting out to walk and fresh air will help? Are you still getting contractions?

Lulu2515 · 10/03/2018 14:55

What were contractions before feel more like on/off manageable back pain. It's looking like I'll be in for a week at this rate!

Nikki2ol6 · 10/03/2018 15:26

Do you have a ball to bounce on ? It really helped get my labour going

DinoSn0re · 10/03/2018 16:18

Went into hospital at 10am on the Saturday, pessary at around 2pm, DD born Sunday morning at 9am.

Lulu2515 · 10/03/2018 17:25

Nikki they've just gone to get me a ball.. what do I do though?!

OP posts:
Igottastartthinkingbee · 10/03/2018 17:29

Mine was 30hrs in total. Nothing happened at all for the first 26hrs. Second pessary kicked things off. Get bouncing on that ball and good luck!

Hillbillyhotel · 10/03/2018 17:40

I was induced on the Sunday morning and DS didn’t come until Wednesday afternoon. I had pessaries and gel which would start things off and caused my waters to go but I never got much further...until they put me on the drip. It went from zero to 100 in an hour. Hope things get going quickly for you,OP.

LostMyBaubles · 10/03/2018 17:52

Lulu slowly and carefully bounce a little on it
Thats what I was told to do

Lulu2515 · 10/03/2018 22:20

mumwhatnothing · 11/03/2018 00:18

I was induced at 42 weeks. Went in at 8am. Membranes ruptured at 830. Drip started. Labour established at 1130am. baby born at 3.06pm.
Bloody hurt and only gas for pain relief but glad it was quick.

Afternooncatnap · 11/03/2018 00:21

About 11 hours.

Pessery about 2pm, drip 8pm. Drip turned off 9pm due to my screaming, spinal and epidural given, drip back on 10pm, pushing 1130pm, baby born by forceps 0020am.

Yvest · 11/03/2018 00:30

4 hours. Went in at 8am, given epidural, waters broken, syndic I turned up and baby born by 12.10pm. It was perfect, not even the tiniest amount of pain due to epidural. BUT, I was private and the consultant doesn’t use pessaroes for 2nd or subsequent babies just goes straight in with the breaking waters and syntocin with a epidural before he starts.
