@rosegarden45 I know what you mean.

@Strongarms27 I got one of those hands-free things too but it's still a struggle as I can't see if anything is coming out while I'm wearing it.

rosegarden45 · 24/04/2018 11:26

I'll look at getting one of those for hands-free pumping. We have issues with reflux and wind too. I don't know why but it's really difficult to wind him and he gets really uncomfortable if we lie him on his back. The whole safe sleeping thing with him in the crib on his back is impossible because he gets so uncomfortable and ends up screaming. We've tried raising one end and using blankets etc under the mattress to make it more comfortable but nothing works so he ends up sleeping in bed with me every night. It's much easier now we are home and husband can take him downstairs for a few hours each night too tho. We are trying infacol before feeds but he really dislikes that too! We're going to see a craniosacral specialist tomorrow for a free trial session. Apparently they help with reflux and grumpy baby issues. I'm also hoping it will help settle his huge cephelhaematoma because it's not going down and I'm sure that is causing headaches etc I'm also going to get him one of those upright chair bouncer things today to hopefully settle him during daytime and keep him stimulated with toys and noise because at the moment we just can't put him down and it's getting exhausting.

LeighaJ · 25/04/2018 13:32

After 4 days of them trying to induce labour, my waters broke then nothing happened for 12 hours so they put me on a hormone drip to start contractions and I delivered a healthy baby girl on April 24th which was her due date. Headed home from the hospital now. Smile

Kirta · 25/04/2018 14:04

Congratulations @LeighaJ ! Enjoy! Grin

amysaurus87 · 25/04/2018 14:06

Congratulations @Leigha enjoy your lovely new arrival!!

Myalterego1 · 25/04/2018 14:37

Congrats on ur little girl and here on her due date 👍we had same due date but my little one still making no attempts to show up have hospital appointment tomorrow and know they going doing a sweep so hope gets things moving

AnnaMadden · 25/04/2018 14:42

Congratulations @Leigha enjoy your newborn snuggles x

Yustynne · 25/04/2018 14:44

Congratulations Kirta and Leigha on your new arrivals!
Rosegarden I totally understand how exhausting it is when a baby doesn't settle. I'm taking my dd to GP today as she doesn't settle and doesn't sleep all day and night. She probably had 3 hours sleep in the last 24 hours. The only thing she does is crying. I think it's got sth to do with her stomach as she is so uncomfortable and full of wind. I'm exhausted and sleepless. My husband first day back to work after his paternity.

WonderfullySunny · 25/04/2018 16:51

Congratulations @Kirta, @LeighaJ and @pinkflamingo121318 ! How are you guys getting on? Hope you're all feeling well after delivery.

@rosegarden45 how did the specialist appointment go today? I really hope they were able to give you more feedback.

@HarryHarry I've been keeping up to date with how you guys have been getting on and have been thinking of you. How did it go at hospital today? Any more joy with the pumping?

@Loosemoose28 still pregnant! How are you getting on as I know you're a few days ahead?

How is due date buddy going @Teeeee ??

@Bez9087 How's the driving going now? Glad to see you're recovering well and being able to get back to yourself a bit more how are you feeling in yourself now?

Different Doctor to normal gave me a sweep today and said I was 2cm so I'm hoping that means movement soon. I've normal dr be adamant I have to be induced at 41 weeks even though we're both fine, massively upset me as he booked it for his on duty day and ignored that I want to wait the full time allowed (I suspect they get paid for deliveries out here). I have to see him again on Monday so I'm hoping things happen before then I don't really want to have a fight :(

rosegarden45 · 25/04/2018 17:05

@yustynne I hope your appointment went well.

Congrats all on new arrivals.

Our appointment today - wow. The craniosacral specialist worked his magic and really relaxed him. We also saw a tongue tie feeding specialist at the same time. Baby is now really chilled and has fed from the breast for the first time ever. It's incredible the work they have done this morning. We have another appointment tomorrow, I'm looking forward to what we might achieve :-) I feel so much more relaxed now too. I'd definitely recommend it if anyone is considering seeing a specialist

AnnaMadden · 25/04/2018 17:14

@rosegarden45 that's really interesting. What did the appointment entail?

Bez9087 · 25/04/2018 17:33

@wonderfully sunny fingers crossed your body kicks into action soon so induction can be avoided for you.
I’m feeling a lot better in myself. Especially now I can drive it’s like freedom I have again. Been to get the girls weighed today and little Imogen is 6lb 11oz and Isobelle 6lb 13oz. Slowly starting to creep up. Got the health visitor coming out on Friday to see the girls again. Isobelle seems to be doing slightly better with her wind and doesn’t seem as colicky thankfully 🙌🏻 She still has moments where she’s really uncomfy but I don’t know what’s working whether it’s the two dopplers of infacol before a feed, the gripe water from tea time bottle onwards or the feeding more upright and winding every 1oz but something is working and I daren’t change anything.
Hope everyone else is getting on okay.

rosegarden45 · 25/04/2018 17:34

Today was a free session as part of a coffee morning but he gave us about 45 minutes. He held him and did some kind of manipulation of his neck and head. He also did something where he sat with him on his lap and let him push against him. He said due to the birth trauma it was good to let baby feel like he was going through his final stage of birth by pushing himself out because he didn't get that opportunity with c section. It was a bit odd but seemed to help relax him. He got the feed specialist to help us latch and then whilst he was feeding he put pressure on my back and babies back and we both relaxed and feeding worked. Baby has been very distressed since birth but whatever this guy did with his hands made him super chilled and floppy and since we've been home he's slept on his back in his baby box for the first time, fed directly from the breast for the first time and sat awake without screaming for long periods which is unheard of for him. It's been amazing

Loosemoose28 · 25/04/2018 19:28

Still here at 41 weeks. Yay. Sorry I am a
Miserable cow now. I know I will soon have a baby just feels like its not happening now.

Neighbours boyfriend got my pregnancy rage today (we do get on very well with a small group of close neighbours and are often together in the evenings etc) anyway as I got out the car he asked if I was STILL pregnant. My answer went along the lines of “No shit Sherlock...figured I would have a baby and just hide it from you all and leave it at home while i pop into town”

Thankfully his girlfriend put him in check. Have been out side since while walking the dogs and been a bit sociable but gonna have a bath now.

Loosemoose28 · 25/04/2018 19:31

I have made the decision to get to 42 weeks and make decision about induction then. Mentally I think I have to take it regardless of what the evidence shows.

Kirta · 25/04/2018 20:53

Oh loosemoose I was exactly the same. If I had to read one more text message that said 'any baby yet?!' I would have exploded!
I went into spontaneous labour at 41+11. Exactly 24 hours before the we're going to induce me. Went for BP monitoring and gave birth 7hrs later! I had a fabulous sweep!

My milk has come in properly today, so latching has been really difficult. Expressed some off and that helped, but left boob is still a huge misshapen rock of a thing!
I also need some sort of nipple transplant I think, as mine look like (and feel!) they are beyond repair! Thank goodness for Lanisohl!

Feeling a bit down today. Just a bit weird. Guessing it's the baby blues, but making me worry about every ache and pain I have. I have to keep reminding myself that I gave birth 4 days ago, a bit of muscle soreness is normal!

Hope you are all ok. And @Yustynne hope your first day flying solo went ok. Hope GP was helpful

Smile
AnnaMadden · 25/04/2018 21:34

Congratulations @kirta all these babies arriving is so exciting!

Thanks @rosegarden45 I'll look into that I think. Although we think Áine being unsettled could be down to CMPA rather than simple colic but it still might be worth a go!

Still no grandson cervix still shut she was due on the 22nd. of April if no movement induced on 6th may ☺️

amysaurus87 · 26/04/2018 18:53

So I have the health visitor coming out tomorrow...any idea what to expect from this visit?

Kirta · 26/04/2018 19:05

@amysaurus87 I asked this very question to midwife today! Loads of social and emotional questions. Talking about sleeping etc. Think they do height and weight again. May be different in different places!
I got off to a rocky start with the HV team as they sent me a letter at 35 weeks pregnant, telling me I had to go to a meeting to assess a whole list of things! (A universal service offered to everyone) But the letter was so badly worded, it felt like a summons!
Let us know how it goes, as I'm a bit Hmm about it at the minute!

TexanInBristol · 26/04/2018 19:14

We had our first health visitor visit yesterday.

She was here for about 40 minutes and mainly just asked lots of questions about how I'm coping and how baby is doing.

She asked about sleeping, feeding, all the usual questions and told me about what happens now (injection schedule, baby clinics etc). She also gave me a whole bunch of resources in my area - anything from mom and baby groups to people to call if we're worried about anything.

She didn't weigh or measure her but we had only been discharged by the midwives the day before so said it wasn't necessary, as they had already done it.

I think it's basically just an overall welfare check, for both mama and babe. Pretty straightforward!

Myalterego1 · 26/04/2018 22:11

Well my little man all 8lb6 of him showed up today at 11.33am .we both doing great he breast feeding id forgot about the sting of new latch and afterpains but we get there hopefully let me go home tomorrow asked if would let me today but had to stay the one night

Yustynne · 27/04/2018 04:04

Congratulations Myalterego! Hope you'll go home soon and have s nice time with your new arrival.
rosegarden looks like your appointment with a specialist went really well. How is your baby feeling now? If that worked to settle him, maybe I should try it for my unsettled dd. However, there is no such specialist in my town.
Kirta first day on my own was very busy as I had to register my little one and later on take her to GP. According to GP, she looked fine, even if she had stomach pain, she was too small for any medication. Yesterday night my dd slept better but a stomach problem remains.

Fieau · 27/04/2018 06:52

Just popping in to say I had am baby boy on23rd April by emergency c section. Was very scary but he is healthy so that's all that matters. Came home Wednesday evening and wondering whether I rushed home too soon, really struggling with my section wound and now that my milk has come in it is basically impossible to get him to latch. Spent most of yesterday crying.

Waiting for the midwives to change to day shift and then going to call the ward for some advice. No idea if they can help me once I'm discharged but not sure who else to call.
