Daisy - not so as this time as it's my second so I'm a bit more relaxed.
With my first, I was on the ward from 35 weeks with monitoring and reduced movement (I was over 35 and also had gestational diabetes, so they take the movement very seriously!). Eventually induced at 37 weeks.
I'm pretty sure that I brought a lot of that on myself - when you are supposed to lie on your side for a couple of hours, I'd do 15 mins and panic!
But my goodness, the amount of movements I could see/hear on the monitor but couldn't feel. It's so annoying. In the case of my first, she was facing inwards, so she was kicking into a void. This one is kicking a placenta cushion!
Nobody should make you feel bad for going in. Only you know what you can feel. But just be aware that too many checks will lead to an induction, and that might not be such an easy birth - so prepare yourself mentally for that. I ended up with an 18 hour failed induction and then a c-section. All very calm and no emergency, but tiring. Other friends have had successful inductions but it's more painful apparently. I also found my DD was a bit dopey for the first couple of weeks, which might have been because she was brought at 37 weeks.
That is NOT to say you shouldn't get checked or report any incidents - you absolutely must keep on doing that. It just means prepare yourself that you might get a rather more medicalised birth. Which is absolutely fine! I only mention it because some of my friends have beaten themselves up about not managing a more natural labour, and honestly, it's pressure you just don't need to put on yourself!
