Well ladies...after being told on the phone that the midwife was 95% certain I wasn't leaking fluid and that there was nothing to worry about, I had my consultant appointment today who checked it out and guess what...I'm leaking fluid. So I've had my first steroid injection and I've come home to collect my things to be admitted tonight. Second injection at 4am then I'm being induced! Shitting it puts it mildly! 😱

OMG @AnnaMadden - good luck! I'm sure it will all be fine though - how far along are you?

@HarryHarry - I get elbowed/punched in the hip on the regular! It's not as uncomfortable as when a foot gets under my ribs and goes sliding along but it's a close second.

This afternoon, it's been doing what I can only think are pike jumps - somehow kicking me in the side/ribs and sticking its bum right out to the left of my belly button at the same time. Baby movements make no sense Grin.

Omg Anna ! Many good luck! Hope everything goes ok ! You’re just one more day than me which sounds scary! I’ve not even started packing. Every time I do I get anxiety and really hyper and need to stop so seems like I might go to the hospital bagless

MNy of the babies from here and also the April fb groups are being born in March ! So not sure there will be any Aprils left :s

Best of luck Anna! I’m sure everything will be absolutely fine, 36+1 is perfect. The first one to get the ball rolling! Will be thinking of you, can’t wait to hear how it goes x

Bez that sounds really scary with the drop in heart rate but as you say, I’m sure they wouldn’t have sent you home if they were worried. I do find that they seem to (generally speaking) be really vigilant with making sure babies are well in there.

I’ve had a pain in the back of knee and calf this evening which has freaked me out a bit. Called my mum, who’s a midwife, and my dad, who’s a paramedic, to check what they think and they’ve reassured me it’s not DVT as I have too much of an active job etc. Not sure why I’m feeling so anxious at the moment but I seem to be worrying about every little thing! Waters leaking (they’re not), Braxton Hicks (no more than usual), aching leg (probably just “one of those things”). Haven’t felt this anxious in a long time. Annoying!

eeeeek @Anna good luck just think will soon be holding baby in your arms. Hope it all goes smoothly. Can’t wait to hear.

@emvy my anxiety is the same. Constantly knicker checking thinking I’m loosing fluid, timing Braxton Hicks which get regular but then not painful so don’t bother phoning up as think I’ll get told the same as I have every time we have been. Booked in with community midwife today so going to air my concerns etc with her see what she says.

Hope all is going as well as it can @Anna.

Had community midwife today who told me that the swab from Monday was back and I have group b strep. Confused just feel like a constant worry now. Apparently risk to babies should be low because they aren’t going in birth canal but if my waters go before planned section I need to go ASAP to the hospital. I do anyway though because of presenting one breech but scary thinking that aswell. Keep telling myself 8 days.

@AnnaMadden wishing you all the best of luck!!!🍀 It's put things into perspective, I'm 34+1 but it's not that far behind really. I know some ladies on here will be coming up to 38 by now! It's gone so quickly, also haven't packed anything!

Oh @Bez9087 that must have been scary, glad to hear the midwife was so thorough. Only 8 days now! Have you got everything sorted and packed?

amysaurus87 · 15/03/2018 19:28

@bez What is group b strep? It's not something that has been mentioned to me before. Should I be worried about it?

Hope all is going well @Anna wishing you all the best with your new arrival.

I'm 35+4 and I still need to finish packing my hospital bag and need to do babies bag as well! It's all coming round so quickly!

I finished work today and won't be back in the office until at least April next year! That was weird walking out today knowing that I won't be back apart from the odd keeping in touch day! But I am looking forward to just relaxing for a month until baby arrives!

@bez I’ve got it as well but my doctor is against a c section for me as baby is heading down. That’s why part of me wants induction even if it’s more of a pain but I’m worried of fast delivery if going natural (bet it won’t) good thing is that if it’s fast delivery then they’d put baby on the antibiotics and keep you in for a day or so which they’d anyway in your scenario.

@amy it’s a bacteria in the vaginas canal , not only woman has got it. If you’ve got it you have no symptoms at all and you can only detected with a swab like bez’a. It’s not dangerous for us , however if you give birth via the canal (induced or natural) then if not treated it can pass to the baby and the consequences could be bad. It’s not normally tested by the nhs but you need to do it privately, normally around 35-37w as it’s a bacteria that comes are goes. I got it detected @ 32w as my mw did the test for me as I kept having protein in my Urine. I did have the kit to do it privately but as mine came back as positive they told me they would treat me as positive. Can’t remenber where I got the kit from

I’ve been to a growth scan today , he’s approx 6.2lb @ 36+1w. Can’t wait to have him with me. I’ve got obstetrician appointment on Wednesday and hoping they help me with labour as been 8 times for reduced movements and I’m fed up so want him soon with me.

@daisy it’s so scary isn’t it. I have been told because of section there should be little risk but I just think one thing after another.
@wonderfullysunny yes all packed all ready to go. Bags are already in the car. Car seats sorted hubby knows how to sort isofix (I can’t do it that well) childcare arranged etc. It’s just the wait now unless they want to surprise us coming early. Although hope not this weekend as my dd has a competition two and half hours away from where we live on Saturday. So dh is taking her and I’m off to my mums for the day with ds. Be our luck something starts tomorrow or Saturday and he misses it although keeping everything crossed it doesn’t. On plus side he’s only
Going for her two routines then coming home not waiting for awards etc. He’s got to leave at 4am for her to be there for 7am but hoping he can leave about 12 ish once she’s performed her second routine. I usually do all the comps but this one he’s having too for obvious reasons. Last year I stayed over the night before so gutted we are missing out on that time this year but I know she will do me proud still. Went and watched her showcase tonight and it amazes me how much confidence she has for 8 years old.
Second iron infusion tomorrow best get some sleep lol.

After 18 hours on the drip...10 of those on max does nothing internally has changed so all I've done is put up with unnecessary contractions. They think it's possibly because of scar tissue on my cervix following a LLETZ procedure I had done 4 years ago and if that is the case then baby would never be born vaginally anyway. So long story short, I'm currently being prepped for a c section which they want to do tonight so that baby doesn't get stressed after so many hours of contractions. Makes me feel better having a c section knowing that it would have been the outcome regardless. So it looks like we'll be meeting our little squishy in the next couple of hours...eekk excited and nervous at the same time...also very tired lol. I'll post some pics tomorrow and thank you for the good wishes ladies xx

@AnnaMadden really well done for getting through such a long time with contractions, you'll be holding your little one so soon!
It's interesting what you've said about the LLETZ, I've had the same procedure and was told it increases the risk of premature delivery slightly. Will have to do some more reading!

@AnnaMadden congratulations on putting up with contractions for so long, hope c section goes smoothly! Sure your midwives will look after you

Question for any of the other mums who don't drive and partner doesn't either and are likely to get a taxi or lift from a friend home from the hospital: are you planning to bring a baby car seat to the hospital when you first check in? We've just got the Joie Classic Group 0+ car seat. We're hoping for a quick turnaround after labour providing no complications (have had no big problems during pregnancy and staying in hospitals overnight gives me anxiety) with no visitors until we arrive home. Is it usual for mums to arrive at labour ward with baby bag, mum's bag AND car seat in tow? We're either getting a taxi if it's during daylight hours or a lift from partner's sister who said she would keep the announcement quiet from family till we arrived home. I'm due 15th April and she's off for the first 2 weeks for spring break however goes back to work (is high school teacher) on the 16th. So we could give it to her the car seat to have ready and set up in her car to give us a lift home from the hospital but in the event I'm overdue we would have to wait till the evening for her to give us a lift home. Or we could collect it from her on my due date and take it with us when we go into labour however for arriving at the hospital my partner might not be able to carry it all while supporting me if I'm contracting. I'm just trying to figure out the logistics of it all, any second time mums been there or first time mums planned out how they'll do it? Just trying to plan what's most practical and time efficient and saves partner doubling back home unnecessarily.

Morning everyone. I've only just discovered this group. I'm in another thread with ladies also due in April but it's nice to see more mummies to be in here so I thought I'd say hi. I'm due 15th April but not currently sure if we'll make it into April because baby is so huge. I have one week left of work so officially on wind down ready to prepare for arrival of our little beast. Currently lay awake, as I am most nights, so it's nice to read about other people's pregnancy stories etc Happy Friday everyone

AnnaMadden So excited for you! Can't wait to see pics!

dkb15164 We'll be getting a taxi to and from the hospital so we will be bringing the car seat with us when we check in. (Hopefully we won't get sent home and told to come back later). I don't know how 'normal' it is to do that but it's the best way for us. My husband doesn't want to leave me alone in the hospital to go and pick it up as we're in a non-English-speaking place with no friends or family around.

Welcome rosegarden45 !

dkb15164 Forgot to say, we have a car seat that can be used without the base in taxis etc. so it doesn't require any setting up. Maybe yours is the same?

Morning ladies. I've had an awful night, completely unable to sleep- just couldn't get comfy! Woken up with a stuffy nose and sore throat and feel sick! I have heard this could be symptoms of early labour but might just be wishful thinking on my part although I am 37 +2....
Anyone else had this? Or heard about these symptoms being early labour?

Report
amysaurus87 · 16/03/2018 07:31

@Anna well done for putting up with the contractions! Can't believe you'll get to meet your little one today!! Wishing you all the best with your new arrival

@dkb thankfully my hubby drives so car seat will be set up ready for the new arrival, I can't see them having an issue with you bringing the car seat, but maybe just check with where you're delivering to make sure? Just realised we have the same due date

@rosegarden welcome to our thread! I'm also due on 15 April 😁

What's everyone doing about letting family know when baby is born, was discussing this with hubby last night and we were planning to let parents and siblings know when I go into labour and then let all family know once baby has arrived, depending on the time of course! Have no idea how to handle the visitor situation though! Any ideas?!
