@wonderfullysunny they are doing quite well. They seem to be around 8,12,4,8 in the day and then last feed about 11/11:30 and then they usually sleep till 3/4 and back down till 8 then we start again. I can’t complain they are doing fab we have been super lucky. How are you getting on?

Fieau · 15/04/2018 19:59

@harryharry and @amysaurus87 they've offered me induction due to large baby and polyhydramnios. They definitely said the advantage of propess over other induction drugs was that I would be allowed to go home. Will discuss with my midwife again at my appointment this week!

HarryHarry · 15/04/2018 21:47

@WonderfullySunny - I'm kind of going into it a bit blind TBH because of the language thing but hopefully someone will be there on the day who speaks English a bit better! Any news where you are?

@Fieau - Policy must vary between countries and hospitals as I'm sure my doctor mentioned propess and then said I wouldn't be allowed to leave. Best of luck with it!

Rae2017 · 16/04/2018 00:28

Hey everyone. It's been a while since Ive been on and will catch up properly with all the feeds. On Wed 11th April we welcomed baby Liam at 650pm weighing 7lbs 5oz. Im recovering well from section but stayed in hospital until today to establish feeding. I still don't find it always easy getting position and he tends to fall asleep soon after latching on but we are getting there. First night at home and it's so scary. Think I miss the comfort of having the midwives at end of buzzer. But I keep telling myself we can do this!!!

Strongarms27 · 16/04/2018 04:15

Congratulations Rae2017, he's gorgeous! The first night away from the buzzer is scary, but your instincts are amazing things - trust yourself!

How are you feeling after your section? Keep on top of any pain medication, don't push yourself too hard and try to rest when you can.

Lyra was weighed today by the cm. She's gone from 7lb 13oz at birth, to 7lb 8oz while in hospital to 8lb 2oz. She's a mega milk monster!!

WonderfullySunny · 16/04/2018 06:08

@Rae2017 congratulations!! I'm sorry to hear it's been hard establishing feeding but glad to hear you're both getting there, he's absolutely gorgeous be kind to yourself as you're in recovery.

@Bez9087 that's a great routine already!! Can but hope were in a similar position after a few weeks no movements here, just those sharp cervix pains as normal. Have the weekly Monday appointment today so thinking they may check and see!

@HarryHarry it's the same here, they tend to just get on and do something rather than explaining. Have to actively ask everytime which is a bit frustrating at points, was sent for an extra ultrasound last week with no explanation. Only after asking why when doctor was reviewing the results he said it's unusual to feel so much of a baby so was worried my fluid levels were low...all was fine but was a bit Hmm why couldn't you have just said that before sending me?! Wishing all the luck for your induction today, don't be afraid to ask if you actually need any further interventions if you're both doing well, it's not ideal having to push but when English isn't the best we can't be shy!

WonderfullySunny · 16/04/2018 06:15

@Loosemoose28 glad to hear little one is in such a great position that is definitely good news! Have you had any further twinges/contractions?

AnnaMadden · 16/04/2018 08:37

@Rae congratulations! He is absolutely gorgeous! Well done for persevering with breastfeeding...the first few weeks are so hard but absolutely worth it! You've got this ❤

Bez9087 · 16/04/2018 09:04

Congratulations @rae he’s beautiful. Go super momma and pushing through with the breastfeeding. Your doing amazing 💪🏻
@wonderfullysunny fingers crossed things start moving soon for you 🤞🏻 Good luck today at your monitoring.

WonderfullySunny · 16/04/2018 09:51

Thanks @Bez9087 he's come back out of my pelvis and the doctor was able to move his head around....doesn't look like he'll be making an appearance soon!

Rae2017 · 16/04/2018 16:33

Thanks guys.
@strongarms the pain is ok. But I have to keep telling myself not to do things and take it easy, which I'm finding hard. The night was better than expected. It was from 520 this morning that was difficult as would feed for 5 mins and then fall asleep but then wouldn't wake back up to latch back on and wouldn't settle. Managed to get a couple of hours sleep this afternoon though

whattookyousolong · 16/04/2018 17:07

Hello everyone! Hope im in the right place. I'm currently 40+4 and I am FED up. I was induced with my first and can see an induction looming for this one as well

Fieau · 16/04/2018 18:03

Hi @whattookyousolong welcome! Have they said at what point they would look at induction? How long did it take the first time?

HarryHarry · 16/04/2018 19:21

Congratulations @Rae2017 , sounds like you're doing really well!

@WonderfullySunny - glad to hear there was nothing wrong with the ultrasound. Hope your appointment went well today.

@whattookyousolong - Welcome!

strawberrysparkle · 17/04/2018 06:12

Well 51 hours after been induced I'm still waiting for my waters to be broken as the hospital is very busy :( hoping everyone else is having more luck x

Loosemoose28 · 17/04/2018 06:19

Congratulations @Rae2017 stick with the feeding you are doing so well.

I have just woke up- I am still pregnant.... due date is tomorrow.

amysaurus87 · 17/04/2018 06:21

Meant to update yesterday but its been a bit of a whirlwind here. Induction has not gone to plan despite the 1st pessary getting me to 1cm and contractions. Babys head was to high yesterday to put the 2nd pessary in, so they agreed to wait and see if it comes down, that did not happen, baby now has an unstable lie and is regularly going from cephalic (ideal) to transverse or oblique (not ideal)

Long story short...I'm on the c-section list for today! Semi elective there is a risk to me and baby but not enough to be considered a category 2. So hopefully baby will be in my arms by the end of today!

Any advice from ladies who have had c-sections would be amazing!

HarryHarry · 17/04/2018 06:26

51 hours! I arrived at hospital about 6 hours ago and had to wait 3 hours for the induction process to begin. I am already completely fed up so I can't imagine how you must be feeling after such a long time. I feel like I have made a huge mistake because in my case induction wasn't at all necessary but I was led to believe I didn't have a choice. I am so tempted just to get dressed and go home where I'll at least be clean and comfortable. I hope things get going for you soon.

amysaurus87 · 17/04/2018 06:33

@Harry sorry it's taken so long for you, that's so bad that you've been induced if it wasn't needed. Can you ask if going home is an option? I really hope they can get things going for you soon!

strawberrysparkle · 17/04/2018 06:46

@HarryHarry oh no! How come it wasn't needed?

I had my first pessary at 1.30am Sunday morning which got me to 3cm but they are just too busy to finish the process of breaking my waters. Hopefully yours will be much quicker x

Kirta · 17/04/2018 07:17

Oh no! These inductions sound so frustrating! I'm 40+7 today. Seeing midwife on Thursday where she has been really clear that if I want an induction then they will book me in, but if baby is still happy they will leave it as long as I go for daily check ups from 12 days over. It's so frustrating how things differ and what information people get! Now I'm anxious that I should be booked in already! Confused Hopefully by this time tomorrow, you'll be cuddling your new babies! Good luck! Smile

AnnaMadden · 17/04/2018 07:30

@Amy I know it's easier said than done but please don't worry about the c section...it's routine for them...although not for us lol. The key post op is moving around as this speeds recovery...stay on top of pain meds for as long as you need them and don't over do it. A balance of keeping mobile and rest is needed. You will have swelling in most of your body and your milk may take a little longer to come through but everyone is different. Good luck...you WILL be fine...just think of the baby snuggles coming your way soon!

Loosemoose28 · 17/04/2018 07:35

@Kirta all it is about is informed choice. Some midwives offer it freely and want to empower their women others seem to be black and white in their discussions and cannot cope when they are argued.

I won’t take induction until 42 weeks unless baby indicates otherwise. Even then the evidence beyond 42 weeks is very grey indeed.

@amysauraus what is that baby upto in there? Hopefully you will get to meet later today. Xx

@harryharry how frustrating. Can you get off the ward at all? Even if just for a change of scenary and some breakfast?

amysaurus87 · 17/04/2018 07:51

@Anna thanks for that. Its been easier for me to get my head round as it's planned rather than an emergency, I think I'm more worried about the recovery process!

@Loose I have a very cheeky baby, who likes to wiggle a lot, and given that they have more water to wiggle in it means they can move pretty freely! Baby has been cephalic, oblique, cephalic, transverse over the last few days. For some reason only when the midwives test to see where baby is, is it out of the head down position, as soon as a consultant gets near me we are straight back down again! I think I'm going to have my hands full with this one!!

Kirta · 17/04/2018 08:03

@Loosemoose28 thank you. That makes sense. I saw the 5th or 6th different midwife at my last appointment who was more about informing my choice as you say. Previous midwife had said I would be booked on for induction at my 40wks appointment. Still hoping it won't come to that!
