@harry it’s isobelles 😊 just so at night as a fail safe when I’m so knackered I know I’m giving the right twin antibiotics 😂🙈
It’s my official due date today and we have two three week old babies. Can’t believe my luck sometimes and feel like the luckiest mummy in the world to be blessed with two.
Hoping everyone has a fab weekend and all that are pregnant their bubs get the memos and start to arrive. Flowers

AnnaMadden · 14/04/2018 11:09

@rosegarden45 Google paced feeding...if you're planning on breastfeeding alongside bottle it's the best way to feed baby and reduce the likelihood of bottle preference and slows down their feed too

MadRainbow · 14/04/2018 16:04

Quickly getting in a message before dinner and more feeds and 4yearold coughing fit...

We are home! Learning to balance everything now and trying to get my head around who wants to see us when.

Kirta · 14/04/2018 16:10

mad Hope you have a wonderful time at home with your family!
@HarryHarry any movement?! I've been on the Clary Sage baths (relaxing but absolutely stinks!) and I have some serious backache today. Few sharper pains than normal - so fingers crossed something is shifting!!
@Yustynne have been thinking of you! Hope you are ok!

HarryHarry · 14/04/2018 16:17

@Kirta Nope. Today was my due date by LMP so I was hoping for some action but baby's not co-operating! Hope your back pains mean something exciting!

HarryHarry · 15/04/2018 15:42

Hoping the fact that none of the ladies who are still waiting have posted for a while means you're all busy having your babies! My induction is booked for tomorrow evening Sad, any ideas how long it can take?

Kirta · 15/04/2018 15:58

Hi harry Running my 2nd Clary Sage bath of the day... not that I think it's going to do anything! I have made a roast though and bought a nice dessert on the thinking that because I'm looking forward to it, the baby will come and I won't get to eat it! Like Sods Law in reverse... no idea about induction. I'm trying not to read anything about it, and I'm much better going in blind... how are you feeling?

Bez9087 · 15/04/2018 16:00

@harry is it your first? I was induced with my ds and it was quite quick for me from putting the peassary in at 5pm on the Thursday to being 5cm by 4am. I had him at 1:34pm on Friday. But I was 10cm earlier than that but my waters was blocking the way 🙈 I found the key was keep moving. Once it had been put in I walked my hubby to the opposite end of hospital to the car park then all the way back to the ward then as I got closer to ward realised I wanted the shop so walked back again half way I had just walked to the shop 😂 then back to ward. I think that always helps. Good luck for your induction.

amysaurus87 · 15/04/2018 16:41

Induction process was started Saturday morning! Being done with propess (stays in for 24hours) started having contractions at 1130pm.

Pessary taken out at 1130am this morning and I'm a whole 1cm dilated and was given another sweep to loosen membranes but so far that's not done anything! Happy with the 1cm though considering cervix was unfavourable when I came in. Been having contractions on and off all day so hoping things pick up otherwise another pessary goes in tomorrow! Currently bouncing up and down on a birthing ball to keep things moving. Once I've got a bit further I'll be moved to the labour ward for my waters to be broken, need to have theatre on standby in case of cord prolapse due to the polyhydramnios.

@Harry these things can take a while, midwife warned me yesterday it can take 3 days, but this might depend on the method of induction.

Kirta · 15/04/2018 16:44

Good luck @amysaurus87 ! Keep bouncing away!

strawberrysparkle · 15/04/2018 17:03

Was admitted and induced last night at 1.30am but so far no movement. Finding it really difficult to keep moving as the midwife was a bit brutal from the examination meaning I'm extremely sore already. Due for another examination at 1.30am to see if they can break my waters.

On a funny ward with a mixture of people. There's a lady in labour, two in for reduced movements and me on our bay!

amysaurus87 · 15/04/2018 17:26

@strawberry fingers crossed for you! Totally agree the examinations are not remotely comfortable! Hopefully something gets going for you soon!

I'm on a bay with a similar mix of people, as far as I know I'm the only one in for induction, but last night we had a woman in full blown labour, having been sent here as the birth centre didn't think she was in active labour! The amount of noise she made it was blindingly obvious she was in labour! Most on my bay are in for reduced movements or bleeds.

It's so weird being in hospital, I've never in my life (apart from when I was first born) spend a night in hospital, and the only time I've ever been in I was a day patient, in and out within a few hours!

AnnaMadden · 15/04/2018 17:50

Good luck to those in labour or who are about to!

Yustynne · 15/04/2018 18:11

Hi everyone, I thought it's a good time to catch up as it's been a while. First of all, congratulations to all of you who already had their babies! I hope you are enjoying every second of being mothers.
My little daughter was born last Sunday and we spent 2 days in hospital. I was meant to be induced Saturday evening due to leaking waters but while in hospital waiting for a doctor the remaining waters popped and contractions started. It was 12 long exhausting hours before I gave birth. At the moment I think I'm having "baby blues". I'm feeling tired and crying most of the days, not sure how to cope with everything. Does anybody feel the same way? By the way, do your babies stay awake and cry for most of the night or most of the day? What's the best way for you to soothe the crying baby? My little one will not sleep no matter what after being breastfed and then start crying. Have you got any technique how to settle the baby in the Moses basket?

Pregnancies April 2018 - #3 the babies are nearly here !
HarryHarry · 15/04/2018 18:13

@Bez9087 Yep it's my first. I'm finding it hard to keep moving as I've been really tired and dizzy since last night but I will try!

@Kirta Wish you hadn't mentioned a roast - now I want one too! Grin. Hope something starts happening for you soon.

@amysaurus87 and @strawberrysparkle - Good luck, so excited for you! If the pessaries haven't worked will they try a gel or a drip? I wish I had a better idea of what to expect. All I know is that I was 3cm yesterday with no other signs of labour. Keep us posted on how you get on if you can!

HarryHarry · 15/04/2018 18:21

Congratulations @Yustynne! Sorry to hear you're having the baby blues, hope it will pass soon. I know nothing about babies so I can't offer advice but I'm sure one of the others can. Just remember whatever you feel is normal and natural.

amysaurus87 · 15/04/2018 18:25

@Harry I've been told once I've dilated enough I'll have my waters broken and then probably be hooked up to the drip 😣They can only give 2 doses of the propess (as far as I know) but there are other types of pessary they can use, I think it depends on the condition of your cervix as to what they use.

Hope all goes well for you! Will try to keep updating!

strawberrysparkle · 15/04/2018 18:38

@HarryHarry I have also been told the same thing. They will check shed 24 hours. If it's worked then they break my waters and I go to the labour ward. If not then I have 24 hour 'break' and then another pessary then if that fails then it's C section. Very lengthy process!

Fieau · 15/04/2018 18:42

@amysaurus87 would they not let you go home once they had put the propess in?

I've been offered an induction a week today but considering saying no (only 1 day after my due date) as not sure I see any medical need for it. Hoping I go into labour before then but the only thing that was making me considering it was that I thought I could go home and labour there Confused

Loosemoose28 · 15/04/2018 18:52

Yustynne- you are doing so well the first few weeks breastfeeding are the hardest. A crying baby wants comfort aka Boob. It doesn’t mean baby isn’t getting enough it just means your baby is doing exactly what is needed and wants comfort.

I have found a wonderful facebook group called UK breastfeeding and parenting support. I have seen posts at 4am being answered. It will reassure you that you are totally ace’ing this.
Xx

Kirta · 15/04/2018 19:03

@Yustynne congratulation! Beautiful! I remember with my first, just sobbing in the shower! You're still recovering and adjusting and so will the little one! You're doing well with the breastfeeding, it can be so hard, but with good support and advice it does get easier!
In terms of comforting your baby, there's no right or wrong way - it's whatever works! Sometime that takes a bit of trial and error but you'll get there. Mine would fall asleep whilst being held and then would be settled in her basket only when tightly swaddled (I'm not sure that's even recommended anymore!) and she would only sleep in her Moses basket for a week. Then she went into a cot that we moved into our room.
Look after yourself, even if it's just half an hour in the bath with iplayer on the iPad and some posh bubble bath. It does settle down. X

amysaurus87 · 15/04/2018 19:07

@strawberry same for me, 2 attempts with propess then c-section if that fails.

@fieau can't go home as baby needs to be monitored every 4 hours or so as the propess can cause the cervix to overcontract, plus there was a chance my waters could go as a result of the propess and with polyhydramnios that's a major no as if the cord prolapses I have have to get to a hospital asap (within 15mins I think) and I live 20mins away from the hospital I'm delivering at.

However I think this can vary from hospital to hospital and I think it depends on the reason for induction, how close you live etc. I'm being induced due to the polyhydramnios and reduced movements, but if it's due to being overdue then I think it might be a different story.

HarryHarry · 15/04/2018 19:19

@Fieau I've been told I won't be allowed to leave either. Worried I could end up stuck in hospital for days!

WonderfullySunny · 15/04/2018 19:31

Ive just popped back on and all is a go with you guys!!
@HarryHarry please let us know how the induction goes, will be thinking of you. Did they discuss everything with you, the process etc as I know you've said before the English can be variable. Have you got everything sorted? Extra snacks?!
Good luck @amysaurus87 and @strawberrysparkle!!! You'll have your little ones very soon Smile
@Bez9087 the nail polish made me smile, such a good idea!! Definitely a time saver for the worst times of the night. How has their feeding schedule been?

WonderfullySunny · 15/04/2018 19:32

@Fieau I think it depends on your hospital policy, if there's not a medical need I think most places will let you go at least 40 +11 before inducing. Did they give you any other info?
