If we can't be positive about the weather what can we be? Grin

@Ekphrasis DS's was posterior too and his tongue and latch were checked so many times in the early weeks when he wasn't putting on weight but they said he was fine. Eventually due to the little heart shape they referred me to the Royal Free who diagnosed in 10 seconds. They snipped but also said as he was so tiny they would advise topping up (which I'd been trying to avoid). We did mix feed until 9 months. I will be getting this one properly checked straight away and not being fobbed off.

AKP79 · 19/02/2018 15:44

Lisa hopefully we will both be back on this thread next week posting healthy pictures from our 20 week scans.

keeponrunning85 · 19/02/2018 17:38

Great news on the scan Bertie! I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

lisa I'm definitely with you on weekends being more difficult. I rely on the distractions of work so much to occupy my mind.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2018 17:43

Baby was sooo wriggly which was awesome and DH was really amazed too.

I have an anterior placenta, boo! But that's not the end of the world by any means. If it's the worst thing so far, I'll take it! :) I do think I've already felt movement but from where he was looking, I think it's anterior and on the right side. So it might be that I'm feeling movement only on the left.

Great news on your scan bertie
Foxtrot that was exactly my reasoning.. I just couldn't bring myself to change any of the routine that touch wood was working so far.. So I have kept going with the folic acid and vit d. Doctor asks at every scan of I'm still taking vitamins and every time I feel her yes folic acid vit d and aspirin.. So she knows and had no issue with it..

Hi guys, re joining here 👋🏼

Congratulations on the lovely scans lifeofpies & Bertie & flat!

We know we are having a boy from harmony and I don't have my anomaly scan until 21+3, and I haven't seen him since 12+0 so it feels like an absolute age to wait. I'm 14wks today so still too early for movement. Trying to just forget about the pregnancy for a bit is the only way I can deal.

Had a bit of a massive fight with mil (who I normally get on so well with so it was all the more upsetting) as she told her family about the pregnancy AND that it's a boy! We haven't even announced it to wider family or friends or told my work yet (which she knows) so it felt like a huge breach of trust. Like who even does that???!

However. Now I have put that behind us and ordered some nice announcement cards to take back control of this process as I really need "my moment". I know that might sound silly to some people but I was a teen mum with my dd and it wad something I had to be ashamed of, then my pregnancy last year baby died at 10wks & I never got my happy announcement while many of my friends did, so it has been something I've been really looking forward to doing ON MY TERMS and when I'm ready. Next Friday I'll tell my work and then announce on social media, having sent certain older family members a little card too.

Flatwhite32 · 19/02/2018 19:52

I'm so terrified about the 20 week scan. I'm already not sleeping well, and it's next Friday! I'm also still struggling with looking forward. As I'm a teacher, they have already employed someone for September, and I can't help but feel really anxious about that (as if that would change anything anyway). DH and I bought a bib in New York, and I can't bring myself to look at it. Does anyone get like this?

kirinm · 19/02/2018 19:56

@Flatwhite32 the midwife gave me a bounty pack but I've not opened it and won't until after my scan next week. I totally understand the anxiety.

Lifeofpies · 19/02/2018 20:33

Lovely to see you, grumpy - was wondering how you were doing. So sorry about the MIL... does she understand it was wrong? Glad you’re reclaiming your announcement.

flatwhite hugs to you. The build up to scans is horrible, and the general anxiety is totally understandable.

Ekphrasis · 19/02/2018 20:46

AKP97 and Lisa , I understand your worry; the non sleeping is especially tough. Fingers crossed for next Monday and you can get through this week ok.

Sounds like your scan was great bertie!

That's understandable fox, the normal rda is higher than usual already. How much are you on and how many weeks? It does stay in your system for a while too remember.

I didn't realise that MrsJ. I think awareness has increased hugely in the last 5 years - I know I got a next week appt for the cut at the hospital and a year later the wait was several weeks. (The lactation consultant has since set up her own private clinic to do tt to help with demand. I'll be right off to her immediately if it's not done through mw!)

It's a bit like the cmpa/i, there's an info clip on the bbc website about that at the moment and yet it was very much dismissed by one gp I saw (another was urging me to try giving up milk Confused - it was the tt) and my friend was told with her first and second 10 and 7 years ago nothing she ate could affect her bf child.

By the way, so lovely you feel able to buy/ sort clothes! I'm still head in sand about that and was freaked out by how organised some people were on a thread in pregnancy!

I'm feeling a little antsy about my 28 wk scan on Thursday regarding growth as ds had growth issues in the womb. I'm hoping my placenta is better this time. I don't know for sure but it might have been due to lots of issues with thyroid levels last time, which has been well controlled this time.

Ekphrasis · 19/02/2018 20:49

Shock and then I read a thread in pregnancy about 29 and 30 week ladies packing their hospital bags... am I being too laid back? I feel like there's a bunch of work stuff to deal with for the next 6 weeks and then I'll think about it at about 34-36 weeks!

Lifeofpies · 19/02/2018 21:22

I read those, ekphrasis, amazing prep and amount of stuff some people have! I’ll be sorted a bit earlier this time as I had nothing with me when I went in with DS.

All the very best for your first growth scan. I hope all is going well. They never found a cause for DS’s iugr and I’m hoping my placenta will behave better this time too.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 19/02/2018 21:22

Thank you life, yes she gets it now & she apologised - I think she got over excited, but really, knowing about my mc last year & she still didn't think before opening her mouth.. ? the mind boggles. Anyway I've put it behind me now.

Feel like this second trimester waiting period between scans is such a weird limbo. Hugs to you flat and everyone else stressing!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 19/02/2018 21:25

I have a confession, I've been hoarding baby clothes- I don't even know how many I have now ~probably many more than you need for 0-3 and 3-6m~
It started with one innocent baby mori order! Then they kept turning up 🤷🏻‍♀️ and because I haven't got a baby room yet or any furniture for it, I've just hidden the piles of stuff in with my own clothes.. I should probably take an inventory before I order any more!

Ekphrasis · 19/02/2018 22:14

Thanks life, and yours too.

I think I'm still somewhat thinking this isn't happening... plus we have all ds's stuff in the roof! I've bought one nice baby grow I really liked (I found boys things dull as dishwater and girls stuff all pink and didn't know about some of the brands that are more colourful/ neutral.

Also, I was 42 weeks with ds so I suppose I feel relatively 'safe'!

Ah grumpy, no need to confess! That's lovely!

Ekphrasis · 19/02/2018 22:15

The second trimester is excruciatingly long after the exhaustion and anxiety if the first.

Definitely like a limbo no- man's land l.

BertieBotts · 19/02/2018 23:50

Grin I looooove baby clothes shopping! I have been longingly fingering the racks in TK Maxx today. And trying to convince DS that he really wants a Next hoodie so that I can justify the minimum €30 order for free delivery (actually, that's no challenge in the slightest for baby clothes, but...)

We have a "maybe boy" guess but they said at 13 weeks girls can have a protrusion too (I guess it's the bit which later becomes the clitoris) because they are still so tiny, so he really didn't want to confirm. We're still on the fence.

DH can't get over how much it was moving and wriggling around, he kept coming up to me all evening saying "It's THIS BIG! And it's moving! It's in you RIGHT NOW!" Grin

I had better go to bed Blush I am totally useless with no sleep and we've got more appointments tomorrow where we finally find out the whole genetic thing! Not that it will give us ANY concrete info, but anyway. Why not. Let's go and find out.

I also have no idea what size of baby clothes to actually buy. Everything here is sized in centimetres and I don't know what counts as 0-3. I think it's 50cm = early baby, 56cm = newborn and 62 = 0-3 months but the online converters have been wrong before. How long is a newborn anyway?? I have absolutely no clue.

Ahhh what lovely positive messages! What I would give to be in a long boring (safer) 2nd half of pregnancy! I want this so badly! Currently just slowly ticking off the days to 6 week scan next week and keeping everything crossed that I can join you in shopping very soon.

kirinm · 20/02/2018 09:11

I'm 12 weeks today and my boobs have gone from feeling very full and painful to slightly painful in a bra but not feeling particularly full. I'm already freaking out because my nausea has really diminished but is this normal or has anyone experienced a loss of fullness? My scan is next Monday but it still feels so far away.

MsJuniper · 20/02/2018 09:19

I have to admit I went to Sainsbury's yesterday and bought some bits on their 25% off deal which they do about 4x a year. If you don't ever shop there I found them very good for inexpensive, non-boring baby clothes especially for boys if you don't want to be swamped with blue/khaki/grey from the off! I am trying to avoid the same effect in pink this time but I might have succumbed to a little cardigan Blush

I know to those of you in the earlier stages this seems impossible to think about and it's only been the last week or so I have been able to contemplate any shopping (having avoided all baby departments for 3+ years!) - I really hope time passes quickly and safely for you all and you soon find yourself with a lovely big bump, ready to stock up on tiny things.

MsJuniper · 20/02/2018 09:22

@kirinm I would say 12-14 weeks is exactly when nausea and boob soreness starts to wear off. Mine went back to normal size until a few weeks ago and now they are slightly alarming. It's a really anxious time I know but much more possibility it's normal than anything else. Hope Monday comes quick.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 20/02/2018 09:43

Well I think the initial nausea has hit today (boobs have felt a bit tender the last few days) and I'm not sure whether to be grateful that it's happening early, or whether I want to have nausea because it'll just go away when this eventually (but hopefully not) ends like all the others.

I hate this constant fear and anxiety

Eastend2015 · 20/02/2018 09:55

Ahh thanks msjuniper, much appreciated.

Only 5.5 weeks and everything is so slow! Boobs don’t hurt at all unlike with DS but felt so sick over the weekend and yesterday. A bit better today but I know nothing means anything 😳

kirinm · 20/02/2018 09:57

Thanks @MsJuniper 'alarming' made me laugh!
