Should I refuse Vaccine?

Hi everyone,
I'm just over 28 weeks pregnant and my midwife has asked whether I have been vaccinated for Pertussis yet. I told her I had not as I had read about the Aluminium toxicity in the vaccine and decided against having it. She is being fairly pushy about it and now I don't know what to do. Help please!

Flakebaby it is worth challenging only for anxious lurkers

Meowstro · 03/01/2018 13:45

Hardly anything is tested on pregnant women. Women are pretty hesitant to take part in studies for obvious reasons. I was on a lot of medication during pregnancy, actually anti-sickness and only half way through did it dawn on me that trials of an anti-sickness drug left babies disabled those years ago but I had to, I'm not so sure my dd would have survived otherwise. I looked at a lot of research and asked a lot of GPs and Consultants and the view was 'does the benefit outweigh the risks?' My point being, the decision is yours, look at the real research done by reputable sources on the risks of the vaccine and then the possible risks of not having it, would the benefit outweigh the risk? My opinion is that you should, I did have it and bit their hand off to have it.

JediStoleMyBike · 03/01/2018 13:46

I wouldn't have risked it before I saw that video. Now - and after crying my heart out - I would never ever hesitate. Christ.

M0MY32 · 03/01/2018 13:47

I never said that flakebaby just that injection is different to ingestion! I am aware they are injected in to muscle tissue!

I think answering this woman is a waste of time .

But yes to everyone else Whooping cough kills babies / children and for adults it is a horrible illness .

fastfrank · 03/01/2018 13:50

@NoMudNoLotus agreed, she's replying to like one person to be argumentative and ignoring everyone else.

TefalTester123 · 03/01/2018 13:54

I am really struggling to hold back the things I really want to say to this person. What I will say is people like this should have to pay for their NHS treatment, and that of their child.

MTverystressed · 03/01/2018 13:55

agree with fastfrank, OP you seem to have made up your mind, so why are you still arguing with other posters ??

M0MY32 · 03/01/2018 13:59

I'm aware that most of you think I should just get the vaccine, however I'm still not fully convinced it is safe. There must be more evidence than just the say so of the NHS to prove its safety. I literally cant find one study on line to prove that the dosage of Aluminium contained in the vaccine is safe for an unborn baby or infant

xoguineas · 03/01/2018 13:59

Definitely have it. Don't understand why you would want to risk your own babies life as well as the lives of other children who are unable to be vaccinated Angry

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/01/2018 14:00

Aluminium in what form, OP?

Wolfiefan · 03/01/2018 14:01

You won't find that because they don't do specific studies on pregnant women.

mustbemad17 · 03/01/2018 14:01

OP you constantly bang on about the aluminium threat...yet you haven't actually answered a pp further up who asked what 'type' of aluminium you are discussing? Pure aluminium has completely different threat levels to mixes, as already pointed out to you.

Are you ignoring the questions posed to you because they will back up the fact you're ignoring the actual, decent research?

HerSymphonyAndSong · 03/01/2018 14:03

It’s all to do with risks, not guarantees. What is the risk associated with the vaccine vs. the risks associated with not having it? And if the baby contracts pertussis?

cricketqueen · 03/01/2018 14:08

You want evidence that it's safe but you can't produce evidence that the aluminium is not safe. Where are the babies that have been harmed? Where's the peer reviewed journal articles. It has been explained to you over and over that studies aren't carried out on pregnant women for ethical reasons. But millions of pregnant women have had the vaccine and I can't do d any evidence of it harming the babies at all.

Apologies if this link has already been posted

Hulaballoo · 03/01/2018 14:14

Personally I'm not having it... It's a hard decision but you need to follow yours and dhs gut instinct whatever way that may be and to be confident in that decision... Xx

Regularsizedrudy · 03/01/2018 14:19

Yeah go with your gut instinct because obviously your dumbass gut is more reliable than doctors 🙄

BertrandRussell · 03/01/2018 14:23

Personally, I always go to doctors who rely on “gut instinct” rather than medical school. Works well for me- i’m still alive..........

M0MY32 · 03/01/2018 14:28

To answer a few different posters presently and earlier, I am worried about both forms of Aluminium (Aluminium Salts and actual Aluminium) both of which are in Vaccines.

OP posts:
fastfrank · 03/01/2018 14:30

And @Hulaballoo what is your pseudoscientific reasoning for your decision, dare I ask?

shhhfastasleep · 03/01/2018 14:30

You are clearly a goady anti-vaxxer. I'll leave you to it.
