I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Pippa the birth stories are the best bit- it’s like proof that it does end, and it does get better!

Shehz both! The baby will be fine, but check in with midwife if you’re in any pain still.

Batman metachlopromide speeds up transit through GI tract, while ondensatron slows it down- this makes me feel they’d be incompatible? I never had ondensatron (always thought I was getting better!) so May be best to wait for someone with something useful to say!

Mustang27 · 20/11/2017 14:22

Shehz yep I’m chiming in with both too, if you are worried just let me know.

Non stop.......DO NOT EAT SOAP POWDER!!!! Just incase you are considering it. Weird one though.

Oh god Dead your dad hangs about with some weirdos 😂. I’m taking it he is a prison officer or some other type of profession that involves working with criminals and not just a groupie lol.

I feel so sorry for the carrot sufferers it can easily go up there with the worst offenders. It also seems to increase acid for me.

Mustang27 · 20/11/2017 14:23

Not Me shehz I meant *Midwife Hmm bloody predictive

NonStopDisco · 20/11/2017 14:27

Mustang I’m not going to eat it! But I am going to let DH do laundry until the baby arrives. Tried looking into to see if it indicates that I’m missing a vital nutrient, but nothing to suggest that. Feel like a freak Blush

Emu31 · 20/11/2017 14:34

Shehz hope you're feeling ok after your fall. Sure all will be absolutely fine with the baby (as you say they are very well cushioned in there), though if you're worried maybe call the midwife just for some reassurance (I think they'd always rather you ring if you're at all worried). Do you have any pain?

Batman sorry I'm no help with that one, I'm not sure if you can take them together. Weaning off sounds tough though - do let the doc know if you're struggling as it might just be too soon to wean off.

NonStop how funny that you're craving eating washing powder, it's been one of the things that's been guaranteed to make me throw up (the smell rather than eating it!) throughout. I wonder if I'll get a sudden attraction to it one day in my pregnancy!

Hope labour starts soon for those of you nearing the pink castle! It is so encouraging to remember that it really does end and that there is a baby at the end of it all.

Lucinda nice to have you back :-)

justtheonethen · 20/11/2017 14:35

shehz get checked, but baby will be fine Smile

batman you can take both. I do. Ondansetron blocks serotonin which is thought to cause the nausea and vomiting. Metoclopromide blocks dopamine (as above) and also speeds up the emptying of the stomach.

disco weird craving!

DeadDoorpost · 20/11/2017 15:10

mustang he's not a groupie lol he acted as a minister at some point and had inside contacts for both prisons.
shehz is also say to speak to your midwife if you're concerned but if it puts you at ease at all my Step mum tripped badly on a beanbag, broke her nose on the side of the door and fell on her bump the day before her caesarian. Drs didn't even check her over as they knew she'd be fine. Parents found it weird that they didn't so much as test heart beat etc but everyone is right. The baby really is well protected in there but always better to be safe than sorry.

Mustang27 · 20/11/2017 15:13

Now that sounds interesting Dead. I was wondering how he managed to get anywhere near Manson considering he was American. Horrible man I’d not have liked to meet him. Not Myra tbf.

Your poor step mum that didn’t sound fun.

DeadDoorpost · 20/11/2017 15:13

disco it's probably an iron deficiency of some sort.. It's classed under pica and seems to be a common one for pregnant women suffering.

DeadDoorpost · 20/11/2017 15:15

mustang Yeah, he was over in America for 2 years when he was younger. He saw a lot of odd things, but also had the protection of a large gang at one point all because he agreed to play a game of basketball with them 😂 he was in a really rough area for a while so that really helped. He's got some crazy stories.

NonStopDisco · 20/11/2017 15:34

Emu hope you don’t get cravings for it, because it’s seriously weird having a non-food craving! I don’t even like the smell of it, I’m only using this box to finish it off, shan’t be buying this brand again.
Dead might be on to something, I’ve stopped taking the iron tablet because my levels weren’t that low, and they were giving me constipation! The cat used to eat her cat-litter, (house of weirdos!) which stopped once we bought her better food.

Natsku · 20/11/2017 15:54

Bet he has some really interesting stories Dead! my dad is a prison chaplain and he's got some rather interesting stories. He had Boy George in his prison but being rather culturally ignorant he didn't know who he was Grin

LucindaE · 20/11/2017 17:55

Oklahoma How wonderful - and unexpected! You have been a Star.
Flowers Flowers supporting everyone on this thread. Wonderful news. Grin So happy for you.
NonStopDisco I do hope this is it for you! Washing powder - now that is weird indeed.
Shehz21 I am sure it is OK as I have known all sorts of women do things like fall downstairs and fall down belly first on a chair - without baby in any way affected - but do phone up for reassurance if necessary.
DeadDoorPost and Natsku. Charles Manson and Myra Hindley - not pleasant. Boy George was in for drugs, I suppose?

BATMAN As a matter of interest, does the GP say why?
Emu31 Thank you! I hope you and Elephantgrey and Mustang and Bunnyfluffy and justtheone and everyone is OK.
TwoDrifters Great to hear from you; I hope things aren't too bad?
Apologies to anyone whom I have rudely ignored or with whom I have cross posted...

Thanks everyone for the reassurance :)
MW dismissed as nothing to worry about until severe pain/bleeding.

Lucinda Great to have you back! It will almost be heartbreaking to see some names off the due date list but also a happy moment to realise these women are finally in the Pink Castle Grin

Emu Thanks I am feeling okay, was a bit sore for sometime but doing much better now.

Birth stories are my favourite on here! It gives me the much needed jolt at times that this is not a forever story. It has an ending and a happy one.

Hope Oklahama is being able to enjoy some yummy food and some warm cuddles from Oklar!

C'mon Baby Door, Baby Pippa and Baby Disco!

Elephantgrey · 20/11/2017 19:45

Oklahoma that is wonderful news. Congratulations. I hope you and the little one are ok and I eagerly await an update!

I love hearing birth stories. It reminds me that non only does it end but you get a baby!

Shez I am sure everything would be fine but is good to get these things checked out anyway. I have hypermobility syndrome and fall over all the time I haven't fallen on my bump but that was a big worry when I found out I was pregnant. The midwife said babies are more robust that they seem.

Door and Disco I hope your babies arrive soon.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 20/11/2017 19:49

Lucinda GP asked if I could try it to see how it went, as apparently ondansetron has only been used relatively recently in pregnancy and long term impacts are unknown.

He was quite clear that he was happy to continue to prescribe it if benefits outweighed risks, I guess it was just time to trst the risk assessment.

It's worked well to be fair as I've managed to reduce the dose.

Elephantgrey · 20/11/2017 19:53

Mustang I having been getting cravings for bleach. The kind the cleaners use a work has a lovely smell and I can't stop sniffing it. I have no desire to drink it ( don't worry). I really like the clean smell. When I was first pregnant I could only drink water with lemon in as I associated that with cleanliness. Now I can't stand it because it tastes like plastic.
Lucinda its lovely to have you back. I am doing much better thank you.

What did everyone do about maternity clothes. I am starting to get a bit of a bump. I was going to get maternity wear the next size down. At first I lost weight but now I have started to be able to eat but it is mostly potatos so I am probably going to pile on the pounds!

DeadDoorpost · 20/11/2017 20:56

elephant I lost so much weight I actually didn't need to buy maternity clothes as my original clothes continued to fit me. The only things I cant wear atm are my high waist skinnies but everything else still fits.
I'm fairly lucky though. But I also tend to wear pyjamas most of the time because I don't work and rarely go out anywhere 😂

wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 21/11/2017 00:23

I was wondering if anyone had experience with private HG treatment and what it was like? Alternatively does anyone have experience of NHS treatment at St. Mary’s or UCLH that you could share.

Also the biggest hugs and encouragement to everyone suffering.

DeadDoorpost · 21/11/2017 00:36

www I'm nowhere near London unfortunately so can't help, and haven't been given an official diagnosis because my DR sucks so can't even help with private.
How come, if you don't mind me asking? I've never heard of private treatment for it.

wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 21/11/2017 01:02

So I had hideous HG in my first pregnancy (14 admissions and then I just stayed there till I was induced). I really want another baby but wondered if there is anyway to make it better.

wwwwwwwwwwwwww · 21/11/2017 01:05

DeadDoorpost have you seen your midwife or been to the EPU? It might help to see someone else if your doctor is not filling you with confidence.

Elephantgrey · 21/11/2017 07:49

Door I realise you have had a crappy time from everything you have written on here but that is a lot of weight to lose!

I will need some maternity clothes as I am going to have a bump. I was a size 10-12 pre-pregnancy so will probably need a bigger waistline. I have also gone from eating nothing to eating pure crap so will probably triple in size!

Mustang27 · 21/11/2017 09:06

Elephant I love George’s over bump leggings 2 for 14 and long sleeve tshirt 2 pack so comfy. Also really like primark long stretchy tops normally about 5 and I wear them in a couple of sizer bigger now. I was the same as you and now I eat crap I also retain a shed load of fluid everywhere I’m not sure if that’s my luck or hg related. My family are prone to preeclampsia so maybe it’s linked to that but I wasn’t particularly high risk last pregnancy.

Also just a question that the other smart watch/Fitbit wearers might know. My resting heart rate has gone up from high 50s/low 60s to low 90s mostly is this a normal trend. I realise I’m incredibly unfit now as iv spent the last 8 mo the barely being able to walk the length of myself without vomiting. Also like poor Sieze do get a bit of pregnancy rage.

Natsku · 21/11/2017 09:25

I really need some more maternity clothes, I have one top that fits. Going to order some with my amazon vouchers I think as no shops on my town does maternity clothes.

I lost a kg last week being off the meds for just a few days, clearly I still need to be on them! My haemoglobin is slowly creeping back up now though so that's good.
