25 weeks waters broken - help

Can’t believe I’m asking this on mumsnet but...am lying in a local hospital bed, waters have broken, not yet in labour but cervix open a bit...local hospital have been trying for 2 hrs to find me a bed in a neonatal unit...they have found one at St Thomas’s but waiting to hear whether there is a bed for me. They have told me I might then have to wait another 2 hrs for an ambulance to transfer me. Has anyone ever used a private ambulance service? Any advice as to what I should be asking for / demanding? I am conscious that I could go into labour at any minute and at that point it will be touch and go for the baby who will need a neonatal bed. They have given me steroids / antibiotics etc.

So glad you got to Kch in the end, op. You are in the right place. Waiting in hospital is really hard, though. Hope you have your phone charger. Watching dynasty sounds like a v good idea. Very best of luck.

Oh Lola that sounds so scary you sound like you are dealing with it incredibly well though. I’m in awe I’d be a crying mess. Good luck over the next few days I really hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you and baby FlowersFlowers

Flyingfruit · 10/11/2017 14:29

Fingers crossed everything goes ok you’re in the best place xx

Lily2007 · 10/11/2017 22:47

How are you? I'm guessing you may have gone into labour as you've not been on today though maybe Dynasty was too good.

Thinking of you and hope everything is OK. Bear

Just to update, I am still here...baby is now 25 + 3, weighs around 850 grams and I have passed the 72 hour mark. Docs saying today I could be in here for a while longer but I am still very much taking it a day at a time, hour by hour...every hour which goes by is a bonus for the baby...both my kids have been in to visit today which was lovely but made me sad and miss them...life has basically come to a complete stop while I try and keep the baby inside me but it sounds like it is madness at home...dh coping admirably though! Thanks for all your support...all words of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Good luck lola cola. So happy you haven't gone into labour yet. It must be so hard being in hospital not knowing what is going to happen, especially with your other children at home. I read an article in the guardian recently about an American woman who had this, and managed to get to the end of her pregnancy somehow. Wishing you and your baby the very best of luck. Flowers

MsP0b · 11/11/2017 17:24

Thinking of you, all the very best. Baby has stayed inside so far, and had the benefit of the steroids. Good stuff. Take care xxx

Ifyouseeapolarbear · 11/11/2017 17:30

I read a Guardian article recently that stayed with me about a woman in a similar situation - she made it to full term:
www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/oct/24/88-days-trapped-in-bed-to-save-a-pregnancy-bed-rest?
Hang in there OP, thinking of you.

Lola Flowers

Kings is a good place to be. My DS1 was born at St George's at 24 weeks 12 years ago, weighing 700g. It was a heck of a long bumpy ride but we got there eventually. I strongly believe that if we hadn't been at St George's then he wouldn't be here now. Kings is every bit as good at George's.

Best of luck for keeping the baby cooking for many more days and weeks, thinking of you x

Skyechasemarshalsfanmum · 11/11/2017 19:27

Thinking of you.

My waters broke at 28 weeks and dd stayed in until 36 weeks so baby may surprise you. Dd was evicted as we say when my markers started rising for infection levels ans heartrate rose but she was born via c section ( breech so unsafe to turn with broken waters) and no signs of infection. Shes 2 now.

lolacola1977 · 11/11/2017 22:17

Thank you for the updates, I am currently lying here watching Trainwreck thinking non-labour thoughts..really hope it works for another night and baby will get to 25 / 4...feeling more upbeat today but don’t want to relax too much in case I jinx it...lovely lady in the bed opposite me, so we are getting through it together! Here’s to a peaceful night.
