Welcome to the moaning thread!

I thought I’d make a nice little place for us to get our problems off our chests (and maybe get a virtual hug or two)
Pregnancy is bloody difficult and it’s nice knowing we’re not alone in the suffering!

Happy whining :)

I had low iron & was prescribed the liquid but only managed it for a couple of days because it made me gag so much! I switched to spatone & obsessing over my diet. I went pretty much completely dairy-free & tracked how much iron was in everything I ate. Special K without milk, poppadoms, bovril & liquorice are my favourite ways of getting extra iron. For a few weeks I measured things out all the time & ate my own body weight in oranges! Totally worth it though - it got my iron levels from just below the cut off for home birth to just above it.

BabyDreams2018 · 02/11/2017 22:34

Thank you ScotsLamb and AGnu for all the tips. I was taking spatone but my Doctor said it is not effective for pregnancy and my levels were getting lower. I'm taking two Ferograd C tablets per day at the moment. I had a big baby and was diagnosed with GD in my last pregnancy so I am being monitored by diet and blood tests this pregnancy so far so I really have to limit my sugar/carbohydrates intake. It's making it difficult to balance. I think I may need a vitamin c supplement.

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 03/11/2017 11:05

Floradix was recommended to me by my midwife. A capful in a glass of orange juice twice a day along with some dietary modifications and my levels had plateaued by the next test and not gone down. Hopefully by the time baby is here I will have managed to increase them.

Eryri1981 · 03/11/2017 11:18

My whinge is that I still have some nausea at 26 weeks (after HG), and it is now overlapping with indigestion, and "Gaviscon O'clock" seems to be creeping earlier and earlier every day :-(

Mrstobe90 · 03/11/2017 12:12

I ended up going into hospital last night over a bit of a worry (thankfully all is ok) and the staff were all so snotty and had so much attitude that it’s confirmed that I’m 100% going for a home birth. It’s been my plan for the past few weeks anyway but last night removed any doubts from my mind!!

Hope you're feeling better Mrstobe90 In my Hospital the midwives depends on which day you go in. Most are lovely there's one younger one who is a bit snippy but I don't think I'll be seeing much of her. She hasn't been there on my last couple of visits. Are you living near enough to the hospital for your home birth? That and two experienced midwives would be the most important aspects. You can still get your scans and checkups at the hospital to check your baby is progressing well.

Mrstobe90 · 03/11/2017 15:42

Hopefully the snippy one has left lol.
I live 5 minutes away by blue lights which is handy!
I’m with an nhs run midwife company so I have had a midwife from the start who will be there at the end. She’s so lovely and I’ve actually known her for years! She’s a senior midwife and high up in the company so I have faith in her. Smile

Pregnancy is kicking my ass today! Got absolutely furious when my make up went wrong 3 times, have a bad stomach and am having my 4d scan today but feel so miserable that I can’t get excited! Moan moan moan

katmarie · 06/11/2017 20:11

@Mrs, hope your scan wet well today x

My whinge today is that it's just taken me almost two hours to set my printer up, at one point I had my head on my desk despairing. I swear I used to be cleverer than this! And less tired. And less achy. It's done now, but it very nearly reduced me to tears, what has happened to me?!?!

OnNaturesCourse · 06/11/2017 20:37

Butting in with my winge.

I'm 37+4, had HG until 20+ weeks, SPD from 25ish weeks, on crutches since week 30. Baby been head down since week 33 and really putting pressure on my pelvis. Baby is that down and tucked in that my bump is measuring 3 weeks behind but baby and fluid is measuring fine. Starting losing my plug around week 30 on and off. Had a major bloody show yesterday evening. Braxton Hicks for last few weeks, never anything more than period pain but I am getting tightenings really frequently - most of the time pain free. Still getting brown tinged discharge / plug.

To pass the time I've been trying out some old wives tales and unsurprising nothings encouraged it along.

I feel like ive been in suspense since week 33 onwards and I'm just so done in. The possibility of another 3-5 weeks makes me want to hibernate or burst into crazy lady tears.

Mrstobe90 · 06/11/2017 21:35

@katmarie the scan went really well thanks! Was awesome seeing her!

Don't worry, it just sounds like baby brain! I genuinely have forgotten my name a few times and my husband has had to remind me lol

@onnaturescourse you poor thing! Hopefully baby will arrive soon and put you out of your misery xx

Glad your scan went well mrstobe.

Fed up over here. Can barely walk. Fed up of the "haven't you had that baby?" comments every single day.

Sweep number 2 booked for tomorrow.

Thought I'd started losing the plug the other day but it wasn't that.

Sigh.

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 08/11/2017 12:50

Glad this place is for whinging... sweep was useless. No change from last week. Feel very disheartened.

YouBetterWORK · 08/11/2017 13:56

28 weeks here. Constipation, but thankfully no piles. I have the ear thing too. It's eased up a bit now but the feeling of pressure and fullness, then I thought I was getting tinnitus which scared the living crap out of me! I've been prone to acid reflux in the past and was limiting my Gaviscon consumption to a easy drink sachet per day.

DH realised it's more cost effective to buy a bottle so I'm at the swigging stage. Still try not to overdo it though, but I have to make sure I have the sachets or a bottle to hand wherever I go. I even made up a little Gaviscon song (to the tune of the Pokemon theme song) - very sad.

And no, I can't see my bits either. Feet are still visible though!

Mrstobe90 · 08/11/2017 21:24

@HopelesslyHopeful87 the scan went well thank you
I’m sorry your sweeps aren’t going well sending you hugs!

@YouBetterWORK you poor thing! Have you tried milk? It’s meant to be fantastic for heartburn!

I’m having a miserable day today. Had my whooping cough jab and it was a bit crap, was busy all day and am in loads of pain now and am struggling with breathlessness!

OP posts:
TeamRocket · 12/11/2017 21:38

@hopelesslyhopeful87 I could have written your post!

40+4 here and so fed up. Keep have had period pains/cramps for the last week that have amounted to nothing, can barely walk to the end of the street because baby Rocket is so heavy. Can’t sleep, heartburn....

Got a growth scan tomorrow as he was measuring at 44 weeks at my midwife appointment on Wednesday, so we’ll see how that goes!

HopelesslyHopeful87 · 13/11/2017 13:41

So depressing isn't it!

Be induced Monday if nothing happens by then Sad

User45632874 · 15/11/2017 15:07

Low level nausea at 21 weeks and feeling like I have a low level illness, have not developed the glow so often talked about and if truth be known along with heightened anxiety just wishing the time away until I can hopefully meet my baby.

meow1989 · 15/11/2017 16:50

I’m only 8 weeks and you ladies aren’t painting a rosy picture of what’s to come! 😱😅

I’m ravenous bit was really sick at lunch time.
I’m massively bloated and I️ can’t find anywhere that does maternity jeans in store.
I’m spotty and coldsorey and tired but don’t sleep well at night.
I️ really feel that I’m being massive wimp about pregnancy when normally I’m quite stoic with illness/don’t really get ill.
This little munchkin better be a dream when he/she’s born, I’m talking good feeding, excellent sleep and contented baby smiles from day 1 😉

katmarie · 15/11/2017 19:57

@meow1989 I love your optimism, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you if you’ll do the same for me.

My whinge today is that I seem to be developing spd, which is really painful. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and a physio appointment Friday so one or other of them will no doubt confirm. But things were going so well until now, so I can’t moan too much I guess!

Mrstobe90 · 15/11/2017 23:14

I’m back for another whinge!

Midwife forgot we had an appointment today and then blatantly lied so I was pretty pissed off.

In loads of pain and have been feeling like I have a tummy bug for the past week/week and half!

Just want to get to my due date and hopefully pop out this little one!

Hi all

No whinging from me, except about being tired, as baby made an arrival on Thursday. Sweep at 40+1 worked a treat and she was born three hours later.

All the pains and gripes go away as soon as they are born 😊

Mrstobe90 · 20/11/2017 11:11

Congratulations!!! Grin
