Hi all hope your all well? I understand about wanting privacy we was very much the same thankfully hubby could drive us to hospital and we didn’t tell anyone when we got discharged except our parents who we didn’t mind coming round.
So Iv had an interesting day. Started with Braxton Hicks about 12ish at 20 mins apart, then changed to 15 mins then by 2pm it was 10 mins apart so gave up and phoned day unit as been told too if they followed a regular pattern for over an hour. Anyway went up where the monitor wouldn’t pick them up but the midwife could feel and see every 6 minutes my stomach contracting 😳 they did a quick internal and established cervix isn’t changing and that we should be okay but as a precaution they have given me the first steroid injection and I have to go back tomorrow for the second one.
I’m so relieved that it hasn’t mounted to anything and the girls are hanging in there but at same time know this is just the beginning. Iv got strict bedrest tonight and tomorrow until I go back and they are gonna review it if I’m still getting them every five minutes although she said should be okay unless painful etc.
This last home stretch is driving me crazy the nerves excitement etc all rolled into one.
Oh and the steroid injections Stung like a 🤬 not looking forward to tomorrow’s one 😩

How I have just finished a 10 hour shift on my feet at work is beyond me! Not sure I'm going to make it till the end of Feb before I take my maternity leave 😭😩😴

HarryHarry · 09/02/2018 02:04

@Bez9087 God I hope everything is OK!

emvy · 09/02/2018 06:24

TeaAndToast, as Harry suggests, you need to break it to them gently that you just want it you and your DH. You could always ask them to drive you there to avoid having to travel by taxi during labour and if they know the score, they can leave right away after they drop you off. As long as you’re clear on what you want, they should respect that. It sounds like they’re excited and making assumptions but this is yours and your DH’s journey and you just need to be open and honest with them. They might like being able to drop you in as it’ll make them feel useful yet they won’t have to stay if it’s not what you want. At the same time, if even dropping you in isn’t something you’re comfortable with, again, honesty is the best policy.

In terms of a birth centre, yes, lots of people give birth there the first time. We have one near us and I’m not delivering there either due to the same reservations as you. But lots of people do and if you’re low risk, it’s not something that would discouraged in any way. Certainly an option to look into i’d say.

emvy · 09/02/2018 06:27

Sorry missed the extra messages on this page! Bez, that sounds scary, I’m glad they’re taking the Braxton Hicks seriously. I know what you mean about the final stretch feeling like forever, especially for you as you’re a little closer to it with your twins! Hope the second injection isn’t as painful today! Good luck! 😬

Bez9087 · 09/02/2018 07:16

Thankyou. Been awake most the night apparently it’s common for me to be wide awake. Iv litefally shattered and wanted to close my eyes but my body wouldn’t switch off. Still getting the tightnings led down aswell. Got hubby doing school run so I can at least try get a few hours before being back at the hospital.
Pumpkina is there any chance of reducing your hours? That’s a long time to be on your feet or more breaks for you?

DaisyLand · 09/02/2018 09:39

@Bez i hope everything goes ok today, hopefully it's just some warnings and the girls stay in there for a few more weeks.

Thankyou @Daisy x

Rae2017 · 09/02/2018 10:08

Hope all is ok today @bez.

It's all the not knowing what's going on inside that I find really hard not to worry about. Trying to keep as calm and relaxed as poss but sometimes your mind just races

Rae2017 · 09/02/2018 10:10

#pumpkina wow that's a long day. Im working close to 9 hours at school but trying to sit down as much as poss to reduce the swollen ankles. How far gone will you be when you plan to stop work?

Bez9087 · 09/02/2018 10:11

Think that’s what it is @rae as they told me they are worried when they are regular and they are very regular and now don’t seem worried. I suppose it’s good they aren’t but it doesn’t help me being so confused. Gonna see if my midwife is there today when I go in to have a chat to her.

Pumpkinma · 09/02/2018 11:33

@Bez9087 oh god sounds like your body is in full on preparation mode! Hopefully the midwife will be there today and you can talk things through with her, good luck with your injection!!

@Rae2017 The plan was to go at the end of Feb and I'll be just coming up to 35 weeks take the last of my annual leave and my maternity leave would start at 38 weeks not sure I'm going to make it now though, I'm huge and my hip can't the extra weight anymore 😂

Bez9087 · 09/02/2018 12:56

Just seen her before my appointment she said she thinks I have an irritable womb (I had that with my little boy on last pregnancy from 26 weeks which makes sense) just waiting anxiously for this second steroid jab now. Really dreading it

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 09/02/2018 20:05

@dkb15164 I start NCT classes in about a fortnight. I'm on crutches with PGP and also have gestational diabetes, but I wouldn't feel annoyed if the other women there are all having a total breeze of a time (maybe a tiny bit jealous, lol).

I think by this stage we all know that pregnancy is different for everyone - I've been unfortunate with some of the more unusual issues, but touch wood I haven't had a UTI, morning sickness, piles or thrush, which I'm grateful for, tbh!

If it does get into pregnancy complaints top trumps, though, unless someone turns up in a wheelchair I think I've already won 😉

Loosemoose28 · 09/02/2018 21:08

Oh Bez I had the steriods with one of my bleeds they hurt so much. Hope things settle.

@pumpkinma- how are you managing to work a 10 hr shift!! Mine have been dropped to 8hrs and I am just about walking at the end of it. I am on my feet for that shift try to get a break but sometimes doesn’t always happen.

Rae2017 · 09/02/2018 21:55

@Bez hope the injection wasn't too bad today. So does irritable womb mean anything in terms of babies coming early or is it more the making you feel very uncomfortable?

@pumpkina that's good that you are taking some annual leave before hand. Im trying to get to 39 weeks but just have to wait and see. If body isn't right I'll finish earlier

Rae2017 · 09/02/2018 21:56

@pumpkinma sorry just realised I've been spelling your username wrong 🙈

Pumpkinma · 09/02/2018 22:00

@Loosemoose28 I'm not managing it well 😂 can just about walk the end of it too. Working this close to the end is hard enough working on my feet is killing me! But not long to go!

@Rae2017 all the way up to 39 weeks is so brave!!

Rae2017 · 09/02/2018 22:47

It's only because im a teacher and Easter hols starts week before due date for me. If I can get up to then, means my maternity pay can start on due date (unless little one comes early). But like I said if I'm not up to it then I'll finish beforehand. Final stretch - all feeling so real!

Bez9087 · 10/02/2018 03:44

@Rae I had it with my son from 26 weeks I think and it just meant had a lot of Braxton Hicks if I over did it so I ended up being signed off from work as they was coming 5 minutes apart and was worried about preterm labour. He still held in till his due date though when I took it easy.
With these I think it’s because my womb has reached like full capacity already and she said I’m at higher risk of preterm labour because of it being twins, because my body is basically over full term size now so will keep sending messages to my brain to deliver and the fact I had one baby at 27 weeks even though he was induced he was still delivered then so she thinks my body is all confused. Plus says I’m over doing it but there’s literally not much more rest I can do I’m resting as often as I can but still need to take my dd and ds to school and nursery etc then take care of them whilst dh works so sort of rock and a hard place trying to rest round them as much as I can. But ironically the days the bh have been so bad have been on the days Iv spent in bed! But she said because when I’m up and about won’t notice them as much. On the home stretch now 31 weeks today I want to get them to next growth scan at 32+5 and go from there. Fingers crossed they stay put.
On plus side had the second steroid jab and it was in my thigh this time didn’t hurt as much. Twin on the right has been a lot quieter since it but she said to be expected as it can make them sleepy but me on the other hand cannot sleep for love nor money Hmm wide awake again at 3:30 with bad heartburn. So just led here wide awake now debating going to make a warm drink downstairs.

Rae2017 · 10/02/2018 10:55

Ah I see. Hope your little babies hold in there for you. Its so hard to take it easy. People keep saying it to me but find it hard and feel more anxious when I think of everything that needs doing. But sounds like you are doing everything you can to relax which is good. Im trying not to do much school work in evening and put my feet up but some days its hard. Hope you managed to get some sleep in the end!

Bez9087 · 10/02/2018 11:18

Managed to dose back off for a couple of hours thankfully. Yeah hopefully they stay put as long as they can just so fed up now and heavy etc.
Like you said it is easier said than done. I feel bad on dh as he’s working full time then trying to run the house and it’s obviously falling behind but the minute I even try unloading more than top tray of dish washer or put washing in etc it’s like loads of Braxton Hicks and agony at bottom of my bump and go really light headed. But the same aspect in sat looking at mess and driving me crazy so I do sometimes try and push through but regret it later. Then obviously my 3 year old never wants to sit down Confused he’s always needing drinks or snacks etc so it’s like a viscous circle but can’t get hubby to stay off as we need his job. Thankfully kids on half term this week so no school runs now for a week and hubby is also off so can probably take it a little easier this week fingers crossed.
Hope everyone’s okay.

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 10/02/2018 20:55

Has anyone heard anything about if a woman is 40in round her belly then the baby's coming soon?

My dad said it to me today and I was just wondering if anyone else had heard it.

AnnaMadden · 11/02/2018 09:15

Ok ladies I'm putting it out there having hardly slept a wink last night due to the pain...piles! I don't just mean the little grapes that you hear people talking about...I mean seriously large and seriously painful! I've got a high pain threshold too but I'm struggling to cope. The over the counter cream I have isn't even providing one minute of relief and I'm now beside myself! Any ideas?...I'll literally try anything atm! Apologies if tmi or you're having your breakfast by the way 😣

Bez9087 · 11/02/2018 12:55

Warm bath? Does that help? I feel for you I had them terrible after ds and had to sit on a rubber ring for a good two weeks Blush but didn’t help with the tear we had but still the pain from them was ridiculous. Can the midwife or dr give you anything to help shrink them?
