I’m gonna try the crutches and the exercises first to see how we go if it eases them but then will phone her about that if I’m still struggling. It’s not too bad when it’s pulled up once over my hip so like folded on itself but it’s when she wants me to fold it again it feels like I’m squashing the babies heads and really isn’t comfortable. 7 weeks roughly left for me 🤞🏻🤞🏻 They are booking my section date next appointment at 32 weeks and aiming for the 37th week so just before Easter weekend. So technically having our girls in the March but I like this forum so didn’t want to leave it as my official due date was the 14th April. getting close now 30 weeks today 🙊

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 03/02/2018 14:52

@Bez9087 - high five, crutches buddy! Don't know how much you go out and about, but I thoroughly recommend using cycling gloves to give your hands some cushioning and support when you do.

Bez9087 · 03/02/2018 18:16

@icantthinkofagoodone I hardly get out now if I’m honest. Usually from the car to the school playground and back is my limit and that really hurts my hips. I stupidly tried shopping with dh today only a small shop but I had to leave him in the aisle with the kids and go and sit in the car as the pain in my bump and hips was so intense. I left my crutches at home as feel embarrrassed using them I don’t know why but I know I need to try them.
Been having so many Braxton Hicks today really tight ones too mainly after I attempted some shopping to having to keep an eye on them Incase it develops 🙈 feel like I’m always at the hospital recently.

ICantThinkOfAGoodOne · 04/02/2018 12:20

@Bez9087 I totally get you - I feel like a fraud using them, because when I do, I feel close to fine. A bit of discomfort, but ok, you know? I also don't like being a spectacle (which at 27 weeks isn't really something I can avoid!) and having to explain frequently "what happened".

However, I've made your mistake today - currently in TK Maxx without sticks because I forgot them leaving the house and couldn't be bothered to go back and get them. Fear I may regret that decision by the time I get home...

Bez9087 · 04/02/2018 19:11

I’m exactly the same. Yet to use them properly although feel I may have too on the school run depending on how I feel in the morning.
I already know I have overdone it today, nesting has well and truly kicked in the house was driving me mad so Iv scrubbed my kitchen, rinsed all my bottles and set up my sterilisers and perfect prep (although need to still sterilise but just got them ready no point sterilising yet) sorted my bedroom out so I’m not nearly killing myself on the night time toilet trips 🙈 just sat on sofa waiting for tea to cook now and regretting being so active as Braxton Hicks seem to be coming thick and fast but they always do when I have over done it. Hopefully it passes soon 🤞🏻
I keep getting this weird feeling like my waters are just gonna go it’s like a sense if that makes sense?! No particular feeling just I feel in my mind that they are gonna go not sure if it’s because I’m huge and feel like I have no room left or if it’s a sign of something to come. The bloody dog won’t leave me alone either. Don’t get me wrong I love him but he is following me everywhere or just sat staring at me I feel creeped out by him 😂

Pumpkinma · 04/02/2018 21:17

@Bez9087 My cats are like that at the minute, my male cat keeps sniffing my bump and laying with his paws on it like he knows what's in there and wants to be friends. Kinda cute kinda creepy!

With you on the nesting thing too now that baby may be coming early I've gone into over drive my OH is very annoyed with the list of things he has to do 😂

Bez9087 · 04/02/2018 21:41

Glad it’s not just my dog playing funny buggers 😂 I can’t go for a wee without him lying in hall staring at me 😳
Haha sounds like my oh he’s not too happy the extra jobs I keep giving him on top of fixing the 7 seater he bought that needed a new engine 🙈 I’m gonna re do my hospital bag tomorrow as that was thrown together the other day so need to make sure all is in it. Finish washing bits of baby clothes etc. I can’t believe how quick it’s coming round now.

amysaurus87 · 05/02/2018 06:42

You are all so so organised! I'm making a list of stuff I need tonight and will start to buy stuff, with the aim to have everything we need by the end of February.

I've not started nesting yet, but the messy flat is starting to bug me, give it a few weeks and I'll be in full on cleaning mode!

Hit the 30week mark yesterday, can't believe it's coming round so soon! Have to say I'm definitely feeling very pregnant now, bump is pretty big and I can't ever get comfortable for very long, driving DH mad with all my wiggling in bed! My answer is I'm making him feel what it's like for me with harricot wiggling away Grin

Have a lovely week everyone!

Teeeee · 05/02/2018 07:15

Morning everyone!

I am also hugely on nesting mode! Though I haven't got as far as having a hospital bag organised but have moved the entire flat around and keep buying things.. and sooo much mental list making! Its actually kept my brain awake and sleeping hasn't been great.

I had a hormonal, exhaustion fuelled cry when a curtain pole we recently put up came down.. job for the partner today. Anyone else also quite emotional? Feel like theres a million things to worry about Confused

Bez9087 · 05/02/2018 10:02

I’m only doing my hospital bag as got told off by the consultant at 28 week appointment for not having it ready yet 😳 they like to keep telling me over 60% of twins are born before 36 weeks so I need to really get it done. Going to fully sort it today.
Couldn’t sleep at all last night just couldn’t get comfy so think an afternoon nap on the sofa with my little boy today may be on the cards. He’s quite good and loves snuggles so if we put a good film on he will usually sit there so I can nap next to him. Quite a light sleeper so will wake if he moves anyway.
Have a good week all.

mollifly · 05/02/2018 10:17

I've half packed my hospital bag but have no nighties or slippers and all I can think about is that I need to get nighties and slippers!!!!

Bez9087 · 05/02/2018 11:13

Iv just done it and no nighties or slippers either 🙈 i bought men’s pjs for the oversized bagginess of them and also baggy pants and tops. Can always get hubby to bring me some more in if I need them I suppose clothes wise. I’m going to add the slippers in now that’s one I forgot 😂 thanks

ClaireBear1986 · 05/02/2018 11:32

Hospital bag is the only thing not really done now. Planning on getting that done once I go on mat leave, as will be just over 33 weeks then.
Seems to be getting closer and closer now. I'm excited but terrified.

I also decided to brave the scales for the 1st time since my booking on app. Expected my Midwife to weigh me at each app, but they haven't.

I've put on 5kg (which I think is about 11lbs) in the pregnancy so far, and I am almost 30 weeks so quite pleased with that.
I have tried to be really good with my diet, and I've dramatically cut down on salt and sugar (as well as obviously cutting alcohol out) so I am probably the healthiest I have been for a long while. Ha.
I am really struggling with the sugar issue though, as never realised how much sugar is in all foods!!

emchapman · 05/02/2018 11:37

out of interest what did you all pack in your hospital bags?

I need a good list!

Bez9087 · 05/02/2018 12:03

Iv packed more baggy clothing as I’m having elective section. But lip balm is a must for natural etc even in mine I have lip balm as lips go so dry. Pads, breast pads, pjs, underwear you probably won’t mind chucking if they got messy (I bought two packs from primark £2 each black) nappies cotton wool etc for babies and baby milk as ours don’t provide the milk. Slippers and flip flops are good idea for the shower. With my son and daughter I always over packed and had way too much for the day I was in where ass with these two I have packed more because I just don’t know how long we will be in for.

dkb15164 · 05/02/2018 12:14

We took the information in the pregnancy books and averaged it to 33 weeks for when we need to pack my bag (Sunday 25th February) which is the day of my baby shower so works well as I'll know what I need by the end of that day. We have a list of things we still need to buy and I've given it to my mum who's organising baby shower. That's only for one baby though and also partially working around uni assignments I have in February and March.
My partner's flatmate is now out and he has cleared out his flat for me moving in and bought wood floorboards for the living room and hallway. He just needs to book a day for the guy to come lay them and then this Saturday my parents are coming through for a painting the nursery/Chinese takeaway/birthday celebration. I'm just so happy that things are finally getting done as my nesting instincts kicked in back in October leaving me restless. His mum apparently called my mum yesterday to discuss the baby shower and spoke very highly of me and how polite and lovely I was so I've been sitting in a wee ego bubble this morning.
Let me know what you think of this, we're having a girl and we've told people that we don't really like the colour pink that much (I personally detest it and my partner isn't a fan either). I know it's just a colour and we'll be glad to have clothes so we don't have to do as many loads of washing weekly but my partner's sister has bought us quite a few pink outfits now. She's not being spiteful as she's really lovely and kind and she's not old fashioned either, I'm just not sure if she really likes the colour pink and wants her neice to dress to her tastes or if that just happens to be the colour in the sales. She knows that we're not that bothered about boy/girl clothes either as I have a few little "boys" sleepsuits that I thought were cute. Not that bothered it just seems strange when we've expressed we really don't like that colour (albeit a bit jokingly but enough to know we were telling the truth). We're both very aware of the fact that till the age of 12 months or the age they can get a haircut, most babies when dressed in neutral clothes don't look like they have a gender (I'm sorry but their podgy faces hide any distinctive characteristics) so we're not bothered about strangers misgendering our baby. She doesn't have any kids of her own nor does she look likely to have any in the near future if anybody thinks that might have something to do with it. Let me know what you think.

MissYeti · 05/02/2018 14:43

dkb please dont take this the wrong way as its not meant to be a dig at you at all but I would just be pleased that family are interested enough to spend money on your little one. We've had promises of money and things being bought for us throughout the pregnancy but so far the only person who has actually followed through on their promise was my mum with the pram. DPs mum was gonna buy the cot, we went to ikea with her but she never offered to buy it in the end and DPs dad offered the car seat which we got free with the pram but he didn't end up gifting us anything towards the overall cost.
I'm actually quite glad no ones bought us stuff cuz I'm rather particular about what I want...so I completely understand where you're coming from! Maybe just mention to DPs sister that you love certain other colours, it might work on a subliminal level whenever shes looking at baby stuff for you. Or go baby shopping with her and really emphasise what you do like :)

HarryHarry · 05/02/2018 14:50

dkb15164 Pink clothes might just be easier more readily available in the shops. I really didn't want to dress our baby in typical 'boy' colours but it was unavoidable because all the gender neutral stuff I could find was either grey or brown and really ugly. There was nothing in say, yellow or green or orange. I think if I were buying a gift for a baby girl, I might play it safe with pink rather than buy things in depressing colours!

MissYeti · 05/02/2018 15:06

I agree a lot of shops do tend with “pink” for girls. My close friend hates the colour pink and im always conscious if I buy any clothes for her little girl to get purple or mint green etc. Actually got her a nice checked red and grey shirt which she loved. Maybe she just thought to play safe with pink?
When my daughter was born she was first grandchild and my sil bought clothes that matches her style so she could “look like her” but it soon passed when my other niece arrived. But then my son my brother and his fiancé always buy him clothes similar to what my brother would wear but I don’t mind as he’s quite stylish and smart looking so helps me massively making him look smart as no idea where to start with boys stuff as dh isn’t very fashionable 🤣
The twins I have majority of pinks but I have favoured some blues and yellows as love pale blue on little girls

emvy · 05/02/2018 16:26

dkb, maybe you could just say to her next time you see her and are on the conversation, “we have quite a lot of pink things now so looking for more neutral colours to finish off.” In the hope of a gentle reminder that you don’t want pink but not making it really obvious she’s bought things you didn’t really want?

I’m the same though, we’re having a boy and I’ve asked people to steer clear of too much blue. Like others, I just like other colours, it’s not that I dislike blue. Still ended up with a fair bit of blue though, I think it’s difficult to avoid entirely!

I’ve not packed my hospital bag either. Planning to buy the things we still need and pack it after our holiday next week when I’ll be 32 weeks. Just seems like a reasonable time. Our house including all the baby’s things are in complete disarray still so hoping to get that all sorted around the same time. It seems so near yet so far still! Such a strange time.

Loosemoose28 · 06/02/2018 00:20

I have had a small emergency essentials bag packed since 20’weeks. Should probably start adding to it and make it a proper hospital bag soon Grin

dkb15164 · 06/02/2018 09:13

Thanks guys for all the ideas! I probably am being ungrateful as I realise a lot of mums don't have any family support at all. The ideas all sound good to stop her from buying much more. At the end of the day, it will all either get thrown up on or have a nappy leak on it so I probably shouldn't be that bothered about it at all, it just had me curious. It probably is just easier in some stores - Asda has a very small range of gender neutral clothes for example which is a shame. Braxton hicks kept me up late last night, I love how all the books say "most women don't feel them at all." Just because they're not painful doesn't mean they're not bloody uncomfortable. Super distracting. Going to pick up some lavender essential oils to put on pillow tonight, wish me luck on my first antenatal class today. Hope all is well with mammas and babies x

ClaireBear1986 · 06/02/2018 11:15

What sort of nighties are people taking to wear in labour? And this may be a silly question, but what would you wear for a water birth?

I feel quite organised with most things, but for some reason the hospital bag is really stressing me out.

I feel like I have read about 50 lists, and still have no idea about what I need. Ha.

emchapman · 06/02/2018 11:50

@Missyeti that is an amazing list!

Totally using that as a check list!!

I am unsure what to wear for a waterbirth- i was thinking i'm quite happy being naked if you're allowed to be?

No point wearing bottoms anyway so whats the difference with boobs!
