I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.
MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk
If you need help in obtaining medication, phone them on:
024 7638 2020
Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy
I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.
Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

emu I cried reading that as it totally encapsulates how I feel. Really well written Star

Emu31 · 10/11/2017 18:04

Oh thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it and could relate, I was very nervous to share it with you all as very much value all your opinions. xx

Mustang27 · 10/11/2017 18:17

No it really is a great blog and is written really well. It’s not just a victim post which nobody would have blamed you if it had been but it’s very insightful and a great one to send to family and friend who just don’t get it. Hugs and thank you for taking the time to write it.

Iv just picked my partner up from the train station and vomited so badly I actually just sat and sobbed in the car. Seriously it’s such a perpetual shit show.

Sorry meadow I just recalled your post saying about it disappearing after first trimester I just wanted to say it probably will, we don’t all suffer throughout, promise.

Emu31 · 10/11/2017 18:30

Thank you Mustang. Sorry you've had another horrible vomming experience, 'perpetual shit show' does sum up HG very accurately. Sending you a hug x

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 19:06

Sat here suffering through a dinner I usually love because apparently all my body wants is chocolate and not a healthy meal (it's not even a craving dammit) and reading your blog post emu is exactly what I was screaming at people in my head.
DH thought I was going to go into labour today. Hes glad I didn't as he'd have had trouble getting home to help me due to being out and about with a student (SEN school worker). He's now sat finishing off the job application for the job we both desperately want and need him to get as it would seriously make a huge difference to us both financially and living-wise (can move out of this creepy flat if he gets it which is a good thing with our crazy neighbour)

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 19:07

mustang sorry to hear you threw up again. This far along and it's a pita it really is. Flowers

hoopdeloop · 10/11/2017 20:14

Reappearing on this thread after a wee while away, I’ve been crashed out on the sofa permanently!
Managed to get a combination of medicine that mainly works but it’s not always foolproof :( Can anyone recommend anything for the throat burn after being acidy sick? My sensitive teeth are struggling with ice lollies!

LucindaE · 10/11/2017 20:28

Much symapthy for those who have had a bad day.
weasledee Cyber hugs on offer. You may wish to mourn for a while befoe thinking of TTC. You are very brave. After two mc's, the chances of a happy outcome next time are massively in your favour. They are after three mc's.
TwoDrifters You are very stoic too! I am so glad you can comfort yourself with LO.
OnNature'sCourse That sounds an awful birth. It sounds as if you coped brilliantly. Well done. Enjoy your prize and life in the Pink Castle. I decorated it specially for you.
spearo21 I don't know what OC is - but it sounds traumatic. Much sympathy.
Mustang You have been overdoing it - park, toddler classes, swimming! All that is tiring enough when you feel healthy. I am glad OH is going to be around to help. Also, you are always so supportive on here.
DeadDoorPost Good luck for your OH's shot at the new job and the flat move away from unappealing neighbour.
Seize21 Oh dear!
MeadowHay Unluckily, Hyperemesis does linger a little longer than
pregnancy sickness (which itself often hangs about until at least 14 weeks). Most people get relief between 14-21 weeks. Even the unlucky minority who suffer throughout almost never feel as bad as in the first tri. Things will get better.
Emu31 A very good post. I am glad the thread is helping you.
Waves to Natsku BATMAN justtheonethen NonStopDisco and everyone. Cheering on BlueButTrue and DeadDoorPost.

LucindaE · 10/11/2017 20:33

hoopledoop (I don't think I have that the right way round, but I remember you). Welcome back. Sorry to hear that. Slices of iced melon? Sips of chocolate milkshake?

OP posts:
BlueButTrue · 10/11/2017 20:38

Thank you Lucinda! Star

hoop ice cold melon helps me with that, as does crunching and swallowing ice cubes but I’m sure that’s a silly suggestion since you have sensitive teeth Blush

Have you tried lemon sorbet at all? I found that quite good in the earlier days.

Feeling incredibly angst ladies, I’ve had ‘contraction’ pain every 10 minutes for sixty seconds... But it’s been 10 HOURS and no advancement. What the bloody hell is my body playing at? They are quite painful peaks so I’m inclined to believe they aren’t BHs Envy

BlueButTrue · 10/11/2017 20:40

Emu brilliant stuff, I cried too Flowers

LucindaE · 10/11/2017 20:43

Emu thank you for your blog post. I shed a little tear reading it, I will share with DH as I think he would benefit from reading it. I rarely vomit at the moment but the nausea is relentless and I find it much harder as it's hidden.

Mustang sorry you had mega vom. It really is a shower of shit.

Dead I hear you on the diet front. DH had the audacity to make me smashed avocado on wholemeal toast with a salad for lunch. I pretended to be grateful, pushed it around the plate a bit, then went back to bed and ate a chocolate reindeer

I've also never eaten as many sweets in my life as I have in this pg. I find if I go out that sucking on boiled sweets is the only thing that helps keep the weird saliva/taste thing/urge to vom at bay (aside from the ondansetron obvs)

I've had to switch to sugar free as it was too much sugar, and the laxatives in sugar free sweets are a much needed bonus right now.

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 10/11/2017 21:03

Have come to the realisation that I'm too ill to go back to work next week Sad

Pondering what stage in pg they can force me to take mat leave instead of sickness absence

BlueButTrue · 10/11/2017 21:12

Ner That wouldn’t be until 36 weeks x

LucindaE · 10/11/2017 21:12

BATMAN Don't try to force yourself back to work too early. I so agree about boiled sweets for that taste; there was an old fashioned sweet shop near me that did barley sugar that I used to suck. I think you can get them online.

OP posts:
BunnyFluffy · 10/11/2017 21:15

Does everyone else have a really funny feeling / taste in their mouth? Like their tongue is really dry and feels weird?

NerNerNerNerBATMAN · 10/11/2017 21:20

YES! All the time 😭 Hence current boiled sweet addiction.

I also live near an olde sweet shop Lucinda. Previously thought it was an abomination but recently spent £15 there Blush

Thanks blue that's helpful to know, long way off yet!

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 21:21

bunny yep but I think mine is due to being close to the end (9 days to go... 9 days to go...) It's driving me mad and brushing my teeth doesn't help it, just makes it worse

lucinda you need to take putput off the due dates list, she's had her baby (a few pages back there's a photo)

DeadDoorpost · 10/11/2017 21:55

natsku I just saw your comment on that crazy Christmas thread 😂😂 I laughed so hard at some of those comments on there omg. (I actually can't stand opening them one at a time with everyone watching it makes me really uncomfortable) but the way that woman explained it 😂😂😂

Emu31 · 10/11/2017 22:08

Oh batman the nausea is so awful, and yes really hard to deal with the fact that it is hidden. I did lol at the chocolate reindeer - much more appealing amidst HG nausea than smashed avocado! I'm totally with you on the sweets, I eat so many harribos (can't remember the last time I ate sweets pre-pregnancy). They are just really soothing, and help with that horrid taste that bunny was talking about. I alternate between them and salt and vinegar crisps. People keep describing it as a craving but it isn't that I crave it, it's just all that I can actually stomach a lot of the time.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 11/11/2017 00:07

Was hoping to avoid any admissions but I’ve just finished my first one. It’s like all the lights in the world are spinning around my head really fast 24 hours a day

Gennz18 · 11/11/2017 00:22

Hi ladies,

I posted on here about 2 weeks ago - I'm now 7+3 and sure enough the vomming and quease has well and truly set in. My GP prescribed me ondansetron (sp?) and I caved this morning after an awful day yesterday working from home, alternating between eating white bread toast with butter and vomming/retching into a bowl.

Within 15 minutes I felt normal again. Is anyone else on it? Are there side effects I should be aware of? Is there a catch and if not why didn't I know about this before and waste my time vomming up the peppermint tea and gingernuts everyone seems to foist on you Confused

The doc and the pharamcist seemed pretty relaxed about it. Feel actually hopeful now this pregnancy might not be hell on wheels like DS' was 3 years ago - I was massively stressing out as I'm going for a promotion at work and would rather not let them know about the pregnancy at this early stage but there was going to be no way to hide it with the state I was in.

Apologies if I seem massively insensitive, I know drugs aren't touching the sides for some of youFlowers

DeadDoorpost · 11/11/2017 00:45

Gennz I'm on ondansetron and the only side effect seems to be constipation. So eat kiwis every day if you can or prune juice or lactulose. Easily got at the pharmacy. It'll be your new best friend
