I went to Aldi they have boxes of nappies and wipes - I didn't get a ridiculous amount though just enough to last about a week because I don't know what size nappies we are going to need, We live 2 minutes from an Aldi/Asda/Tesco so oh will go out and buy more

Bobbiepin · 08/10/2017 19:41

We've got a selection of different nappies from different placess to see which we like best. Other stuff we've got from asda and boots when they had offers on. Has asda's baby event finished? If not make the best of that.

Has anyone had their antenatal visit yet? Don't realky know what to expect.

THirdEeye · 08/10/2017 20:27

I've bought pampers (size 1) I've seen them on offer (44 pack for £4) but also bought Aldi nappies (size 2) which were only £2!

The water wipes are so expensive, but own brand boots etc are quite reasonable.

I've also stocked up on sudaceam etc and bought a range of dummies that include ones that baby can breath with if they have a cold.

Has anyone taken back a sleepy head? I was going to buy one...but I'm so reluctant now.

ew1990 · 08/10/2017 20:40

@Bobbiepin what do you mean by ante natal visit?

Bobbiepin · 08/10/2017 20:52

@thirdeye we are going to get a sleepyhead, the stuff in the news about baby positioners hasn't put us off as baby isn't held in position and can't roll over. I might be a little more cautious about the bigger size.

@ew1990 I've got a health visitor/midwife/someone from the local borough care team coming over on thursday for my antenatal visit. I literally no nothing more than this woman's name! I have the midwife on wednesday so I'll ask her.

Bobbiepin · 08/10/2017 20:52

*know nothing more

I'm blaming baby brain...

lydiangel83 · 08/10/2017 21:13

@TheLionQueen1 I’m hoping you’re somewhat closer to meeting your baby by now!! xz

lydiangel83 · 08/10/2017 21:13

@THirdEeye we were given sleepyhead as a gift and those friends alerted us to the scares. DH wants to get refund as he thought it was overpriced to begin with but I am still keen to keep it. Will do a bit more research.

ValentineFizz · 08/10/2017 21:40

@Bobbiepin yes I had antenatal home visit from the Health Visitor a couple of weeks ago - is that what you're referring to? She came to introduce herself, give me her contact details and chatted through a questionnaire - was pregnancy planned, any depression or domestic violence issues, how do l plan to feed, what family support do l have nearby, what will l do with baby when back at work, don't leave baby with dog unattended etc etc She was in for about half an hour.....

Missonhartbaby · 08/10/2017 21:57

I haven't had an antenatal visit... don't think they do then around by me, never heard of it! I've got nappies from all over the place in different sizes, when they've been on offer I've just picked them up. And I've had loads of bits like that (baby wash, sudocrem, wipes etc) bought for me as well so i would be wary about buying too much as you'll end up with loads!!

Moaningmyrtle92 · 08/10/2017 21:59

Hey Mummy’s! :)
First time on here but needed to seek advice or just to know I’m not alone..
34+3 and literally turning into the devil.
I’m angry, uncomfortable, snappy and literally nearly keel over at any sort of exercise! 😩
I have constant itching that has gotten worse from being early on, text on liver function have come back normal! NOTHING RELIEVES IT!
I’m not excited, I’m angry and emotional and how awful to say but resenting being pregnant because I’m so uncomfortable and restless!
Extremely supportive partner, he’s amazing but I literally feel like I’ve grown horns and morphed into the devil himself!
Please, someone relate!
So grateful to be pregnant, just sooooo much to deal with!
Hope you’ve all got some chunks growing nicely :) xx

Missonhartbaby · 08/10/2017 22:02

Also I had my day of antenatal classes yesterday and we were specifically advised against any kind of sleepy head/nest at all. As baby could roll his head to the side and struggle to breathe. They don't even recommend bumpers in the cot either. And blankets your using when their asleep should be ones with holes in (knitted etc) so if it ends up over their face, they can still breathe. I had no idea of all this because there's so much stuff to buy you assume you need it all but they say literally nothing should be in the cot or basket with them at all aside from a fitted sheet and a blanket or grobag only up to their chests!

ew1990 · 08/10/2017 22:10

@Bobbiepin I had a voicemail last week about health visitor coming that day between 11-12, (not about giving me 2 hours notice!) but she was off sick so she will contact to rearrange.

If I've not heard anything back this week I'm going to give them a ring

TheLionQueen1 · 08/10/2017 23:09

Thanks all! Baby Jack made an appearance at 13.08pm today! He is doing really really well, I lost quite a bit of blood so have been admitted to be treated for that but he's fab! So glad to finally meet him, the feeling is overwhelming!

I've just got my Cribs yesterday, it's small but suitable for my space lol its suitable for newborn anyway.. who knows ay? I'm gonna be a first time mum too..

ScotsLamb · 09/10/2017 07:37

I have a snuzpod for baby to sleep in.

THirdEeye · 09/10/2017 08:37

I've decided against blankets at night etc and opted for grobag swaddles.

Congratulations lionqueen, baby jack looks gorgeous! I hope you begin to feel better soon Smile.

Can anyone tell me what is better, the Chico close to me or the snuzpod?

We've decided to buy a cotbed later and buy one of the above instead.

Anyone else have any experiences of using a Doula?
