Hi all, sorry I've been lurking for a few weeks - the first trimester is such hard work! I'm convinced this isn't going to work out. So happy to see lots of good news on this thread though, it gives me hope! I'm 9 and a bit weeks now. I've caved and booked an early scan for Saturday - I can't stand the not knowing what's going on any longer, and I still haven't got a date for my 12 week scan. Booking in appointment on Friday too, so it's starting to feel more real.

Ekphrasis · 25/10/2017 14:16

Halloumi I totally understand. Fingers crossed all is well for your scan.

Scan later on and am absolutely beside myself. Have stuff to do running around etc and I just want it all to go away!

Convinced myself it’s going wrong as really not feeling very pregnant now, but guessing a normal thing as I’m 10-11 weeks. I can’t remember with my son; I never felt any worry it would go wrong with him.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 25/10/2017 14:20

Well, generally rang 111 (my surgery was closed for lunch) for peace of mind as I've had some sharp pains on one side and felt a bit dizzy over the last week. Long story short, I'm currently waiting on a call from a GP. I'm only 5 weeks so not really sure what they can even do

Ekphrasis · 25/10/2017 15:49

Oh dear unicorns I do hope all is well, thinking of you.

halloumisandwich · 25/10/2017 15:54

Thanks Ekprasis and good luck with your scan! Hope the time goes quickly and keeping fingers crossed for you.
Unicorns I'm sorry about your pain, I hope it's nothing but you must be so worried. I hope the GP gets in touch quickly to put your mind at rest.

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 25/10/2017 16:52

Should be doing bloods tomorrow at the hospital, just need to wait for them to set it up, which I'd imagine is tomorrow too

Thank you emvy it's only just sinking in. It feels odd being able to tell people - I've spent 6 months pregnant but hiding it this year!

Good luck of Saturday Halloumi I hope it all goes well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

ekphrasis how has the scan gone? I hope all was ok. I'm thinking of you. I've not been feeling very pregnant either, it's definitely got better in the last week or so.

unicorns good luck with your bloods tomorrow. Fingers crossed the pain isn't anything to worry about. I know it can be quite normal as things move about it there.

MsJuniper · 25/10/2017 18:44

Hope all went ok Ekphrasis, thinking of you.

Unicorns I hope all is well. So many pregnancy symptoms can be good or bad, it’s so hard to tell.

I had my appt with the diabetes nurse today, it was a bit of a mess and they didn’t seem to be expecting me. Anyway theyve set me up with the finger prick set so looking forward to having sore fingers for the next six months. Reading after lunch was high so I’m hoping that’s not a pattern.

Brenna24 · 25/10/2017 19:50

smurf that is how my friend described her baby's movements. Mine felt more like a muscle twitch bu everyone is different and the going over a bump in a car feeling is definitely one of the ways you do feel it. I have had a few now which feel more like that, normally when the little sod stamps on my cervix.

Waves to Halloumi. It is understandable. The first tri is just hell.

How did the scan go Ekphrasis?

I hope all is ok Unicorns.

Thank you everyone. I'll let you know what happens, though not sure if I'll get the results tomorrow. I'm not sure how it works. It'll probably turn out that I'm being a twat but there we go (nothing ever changes Grin)

Ekphrasis · 26/10/2017 07:29

How are you today unicorns?

An utter - that must have been a shock! I joked with dh about two; he said he’d insist his parents moved up here if it were the case (they’re thinking about it!)

Mrs j I’m sorry you keep getting crap service. Do you have to monitor yourself and use diet or will you get insulin?

Sorry chocolate I missed your scan - great news!

Thanks ladies, well there was a very bouncy baby in there and I felt in shock actually as was so prepared for bad news. I floated out of the clinic! Also, she said I measured 11+5/6 not 10+4 as the nhs think. I thought it was 11+1. So almost 12 weeks. Which would explain less sore breasts and slightly less sickness though that does seem to be a bit linked to how much dinner I’ve had the day before and if it’s fatty.

I’m going to ring the mw today and let her know as I haven’t had a scan letter yet. Though I think due to the harmony test it’s not as urgent now. Feeling a bit mixed about the harmony test now.

MsJuniper · 26/10/2017 08:29

Yay Ekphrasis that’s brilliant news. Great to have gained a week too - that’s some more days ticked off!

My sugar readings aren’t going that well but I need to reduce carbs more first and see if that helps. They’ve told me what to aim for which is helpful. They were great actually it was just an organisation thing.

It’s DS’s 5th birthday today so an exciting morning in our house.

Hazandduck · 26/10/2017 08:30

Congratulations on the great scans @ekphrasis and @doublechocolate! Lovely news.
@Unicorns I really hope everything is ok! FWIW I had dizzy spells in the early days, so fingers crossed it is just a normal early pregnancy symptom and not anything to worry about x

Doublechocolatetiffin · 26/10/2017 08:42

Oh that's such excellent news Ekphrasis we must be days apart in due date! I think I'm 11+5 and the NHS dates put me at 12 weeks today.

MrsJ I hope your son has a fab day today, Happy Birthday to him!! It must be lovely once they are old enough to properly understand it.

One of my DH's work colleagues lent us a book which is called something like mummy has a house in her tummy. It's really sweet, are there any other good books out there for preparing older siblings for the arrival of a baby?

Ekphrasis · 26/10/2017 09:20

Aw happy birthday juniorjuniper! I hope you all have a fun day! My ds is asking hourly when his birthday is. It’s about 45 days away (need to be careful as he knows numbers well and already pulled me up when I made a different guess!) I’m glad the actual care is good then! I’m dreading needing to do all that, my diet is currently shocking.

Double, that’s the one I’ve heard of so I think it’s a good one. I bought quite a ‘specific’ how babies are made one recently. Skimmed over the actual dtd bit but it’s quite good and ds likes it. Esp the bit where you see how the baby grows bigger. Trying to be accurate about body parts etc, ours also about keeping body safe too. I can let you know what it is. Bit annoyed everyone is in their swim wear though! I was brought up on the claire Raynor body book!

Ekphrasis · 26/10/2017 09:20

Apparently due 11th May double. But it could change I guess!

Ekphrasis · 26/10/2017 10:02

Sorted out 12 week scan date in a week, they were really lovely at the hospital. Fingers crossed all remains well till then!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 26/10/2017 10:16

@Ekphrasis - that is fantastic news. So chuffed for you.

I've been lurking but not really posting but so lovely to hear how everyone is progressing.

@Doublechocolatetiffin and @Ekphrasis, we're about the same stage. I'm 13 weeks today - due date 3 May. Just waiting for the results of the combined test and contemplating the NIPT Panorama test if the results are high risk...

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 26/10/2017 11:41

Thanks everyone. Still waiting on a call but I'll revel in your positive news this morning :)

halloumisandwich · 26/10/2017 19:58

Any news unicorns? So happy to hear your good scan news Ekphrasis! Not long until you get to see baby again!

UnicornsandRainbows1 · 26/10/2017 20:02

Nope they didn't ring so hopefully it'll be tomorrow

halloumisandwich · 26/10/2017 20:18

Sorry you've been left waiting.
I had a call from my midwife earlier asking if she could move my appointment as I didn't need an hour as i'd already had my booking in appt. I said I hadn't this time, but she has done it before, then i'd had another MC. She apologised and said no one had told her i'd had a MC. I'm not even surprised any more, but surely it's all in my notes?! Doesn't fill me with confidence!

Brenna24 · 26/10/2017 21:33

I missed your news MrsJ. Sorry about the diabetes.

Great news Ekphrasis.

So sorry Halloumi. Hugs. It just makes it harder, doesn't it?

I should not be let out unsupervised. I popped out to walk a dog and visit some friends. Enroute to pick up dog I see a ziplock baggie on the ground with a picture of Bob Marley on the front and 2.5 tablets inside, plus the powdered remains of the other 0.5. I phone police scotland and pop in to pick up dog while on hold. They ask can I get them and drop them off at the police station. So I go back, pills gone in the less than 5 minutes I have been gone but bag and powder remain. Use poo bag to pick them up and head to police station with somewhat miffed dog who was hoping for a more exciting route for his walk. Get to police station and wait around for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally get seen by somewhat harassed and grumpy officer who asks "Who told you to do that?" Give him bag and incident number and get asked "What is in it? Tea bags?" Not the first clue, sorry. Toddle off to placate bored dog with park. Then in to visit friends. While at friends get a couple of calls form a private number but nobody speaks when I answer. Drop dog off, pick up Italian coursework and head off for Italian lessons. Come out of Italian lessons to several more missed calls and a couple of voicemails. Police have been to my flat looking for the drugs, but I am not in. I guess Officer Grumpy didn't fill in the paperwork to say where they came from (and possibly just chucked them in the bin). Call them back and explain that I dropped them off. Get home to poor confused husband who was got out of bed by two policemen looking for his wife. The first words out of his mouth were "What on earth did you find in the street?" The next sentence was "Next time, just put them in the bin and forget about it". I think he may be right.
