extremely embarrassing but desperate..

I'm 18 weeks pregnant. Been constipated for about 2 weeks nothing too major or difficult and always managed to get everything out Blush

(This is where I get graphic)

However today went to the toilet and got a few tiny tiny balls of poo out and can feel there's a massive part stuck up there , I can not get this piece out its soooo uncomfortable! I tried having my feet placed up higher to try and help but nothing! I can't get past "turtle head" (oh god so embarrassedBlushSad) it's stuck up there and I had to give up , when I "wiped" there was blood I assume from me pushing so hard. I can't physically get fingers up as its RIGHT THERE..

I am truly mortified posting this but i really hope someone can advise me on what to do I'm terrified Sad

Do people really put their own fingers up their own bums??? ShockShockShock

ScotsLamb · 24/09/2017 16:42

Good luck at OOH. I have nothing to suggest that hasn't already been said before but a nice warm bath with bubbles might relax you before having to go to out of hours.

My ex was a nurse and she had to manually remove fecal impactions all the time.

BrutusMcDogface · 24/09/2017 17:56

Good luck op Flowers

I had this with my third baby, and I was in agony for days with cramps etc. Lactulose workrd but it felt like exactly like pushing out my 10lb baby. Lots of us here feel your pain akd are wishing you well!

PeaceAndLove1 · 24/09/2017 18:44

Do people really put their own fingers up their own bums??? Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Hairgician · 24/09/2017 18:51

@Heratnumber7

Unfortunately Yes!! Desperate times...

namechangeforpost · 24/09/2017 19:21

OOH VERY uncomfortable..

The dr managed to get a little bit of out but not as much as I would have liked and he made me bleed a fair bit which he said he isn't worried about at all and that it should stop by tomorrow

He gave me an enema and put some gel up there so make it easier he reckons I should poo by tonight but did say it will hurt Sad

ScotsLamb · 24/09/2017 19:22

Glad he managed something OP. Hope it feels better tonight.

IndianaMoleWoman · 24/09/2017 19:47

Oh OP I hope you get some relief soon, it's really unpleasant to go through Flowers

TheLegendOfBeans · 24/09/2017 19:54

Oh darling. I'm genuinely wincing for you. I've experienced a couple of weapons in my time but this is so awful, you poor thing.

Going forward please incorporate prunes into your diet. Treat yourself to the expensive California or d'Agen ones; three or four a day are so yummy and (sorry for the most appalling pun ever) they are delicious chopped up in brownies.

Keep us updated OP. You are gonna feel AMAAAAAZINGGGGG when this beast is out x

Heratnumber7 · 24/09/2017 19:59

Well you learn something every day.
I've been pretty constipated in my time, but don't think I could bear to do that.
Strong coffee works for me, and exercise.

Largebucket · 24/09/2017 20:10

Are you allowed Movecol when pregnant? I have a permanent issue and it's the only thing that works for me - lactulose etc do nothing. I'm trying to reduce my fibre intake as some research suggests that if it's a persistent problem, it's more to do with how you are wired and eating a lot of fibre is akin to expecting a country lane to be able to cope with a motorway's worth of traffic - just make the problem worse.

LuluJakey1 · 24/09/2017 20:14

You poor thing Flowers
It is just horrible to go through this.

Cagliostro · 24/09/2017 20:18

Poor thing :(

Make sure you take stuff with fibre in your hospital bag. It is scarier after childbirth so is worth preparing.

PeaceAndLove1 · 24/09/2017 20:39

TheLegendOfBeans Could I ask where you get your posh prunes from? Ocado haven't got those.

Lozmatoz · 24/09/2017 20:42

Good luck. I hope the docs efforts pay off for you quickly.

I've started on iron tablets which are making my poohing habits fun. X

TheLegendOfBeans · 24/09/2017 20:45

Waitrose do "d'Agen" prunes and I think you can pick up Sunsweet California Prunes at Morrisons @PeaceandLove1

Thanks for asking BTW; I really love talking about prunes, honestly, I could bore off about them forever Grin

Disneybump · 24/09/2017 20:49

I had this exact same thing during labour and for days after my EMCS. You poor thing! I hope you're ok now. Regarding your pregnancy being the worst ever... mine was awful too and I'm so sorry =( I had hyperemesis off the charts and ended up in hospital for a week. I was so miserable and fed up that I was genuinely concerned about bonding with my baby. I also had a difficult labour that ended in a frightening emergency C section when she got stuck, I was exhausted and terrified with no control and after the birth I was so dazed and disorientated that I couldn't feed her and she never latched. So after the God awful pregnancy, horrific birth and inability to breastfeed I thought there was no way we could bond...

But she is now 3 weeks old and I could not be more in love. I thought I'd mention it in case you were concerned too, some people love pregnancy but for others who just seem to be unfortunate it can be a really long, uncomfortable 9 months. So I hope you're ok and you feel better soon.

I also found that over the counter laxitives worked a treat for me =) taken right before bed usually meant an 'easier' morning!

imablackstarnotapopstar · 24/09/2017 20:58

2 pints of water drink straight after each other, then when you feel the urge sit on the loo - the enema and gel should then start to work.

PeaceAndLove1 · 24/09/2017 21:08

Thanks TheLegendOfBeans, I've not got a Waitrose in my city but Ocado do loads of Waitrose stuff so I'm surprised they don't do them, looks like our Morrisons haven't got the California ones unless the Dole prunes are any good. Ocado do organic crazy Jack, on offer atm, so may try those. The "chocolate brownies" do sound delicious.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/09/2017 21:11

Prune juice works really well. A consultant from Kings suggested it for ds when he was prem and bunged up,works a treat.

I'm so glad the last comment mentioned pooing in the bath as it makes me feel less disgusting about the following admission.
I literally could have written your post at times. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant, have had this problem more times than I can count. Tried to my knees right up but can't achieve the perfect squat on the toilet. Sit on the side of the bath, and drop back so the backs of your knees are bent over the edge of the bath and your bum is dropped right down, PERFECT position and so helpful.
Maybe play a bit of music so the big thud of poo isn't as loud.
As others have said, desperate times. Sorry🙄

BrutusMcDogface · 24/09/2017 23:51

My son has issues in this department and actually squats on the seat sometimes, with his feet on the seat, in the crouching position which is meant to be optimal for poo expulsion!

I hope you get some relief soon, op!
