extremely embarrassing but desperate..

I'm 18 weeks pregnant. Been constipated for about 2 weeks nothing too major or difficult and always managed to get everything out Blush

(This is where I get graphic)

However today went to the toilet and got a few tiny tiny balls of poo out and can feel there's a massive part stuck up there , I can not get this piece out its soooo uncomfortable! I tried having my feet placed up higher to try and help but nothing! I can't get past "turtle head" (oh god so embarrassedBlushSad) it's stuck up there and I had to give up , when I "wiped" there was blood I assume from me pushing so hard. I can't physically get fingers up as its RIGHT THERE..

I am truly mortified posting this but i really hope someone can advise me on what to do I'm terrified Sad

Prune juice.
Half a pint takes about a hour.
Hold on tight

Terrylene · 22/09/2017 20:24

and eat plenty of oranges kiwis and grapes.

Actually, I have been told by a hospital dietician that 2 kiwis a day will shift anything. Apparently they have some enzyme action or other.

I have had constipation problems since my first pregnancy and it has become a way of life for me. However, even for me a single kiwi a day has really good effects. Nice gentle natural movement and no explosions Wink.

The only trouble with them is I really hate them Sad and they give me a sore throat.

If you can take them, they are much better than using laxatives.

HeartburnCentral · 22/09/2017 20:24

Try drinking warm water. It will soften things out. Try massaging gently but firmly around the perineum. The bleeding is possible tearing of the back passage. If you have ongoing constipation, it can and probably will cause piles/haemorrhoids which feel like a cluster of small grapes around your back passage. You can get creams but try to avoid sitting or standing for long periods. Piles can be itchy, uncomfortable and bleed. Too much iron/dehydration/not enough fruit, veg and fibre can cause constipation. Try to sleep/lie on your left side because all the major blood vessels and blood supply to all the important organs are situated on the right hand side and there are main blood vessels running down your centre so sleeping on your back will cause your baby to put pressure on the vessels and can cause haemorrhoids/varicose veins.

Happened to me. I didn't go for four weeks due to hyperemesis. When I started eating again, it came as a garlic bulb shape so every way it just wouldn't come out.

Vaseline. Vinyl glove. Picking out bit by bit. Took all night and very painful but my God, the relief.

I didn't miss a single dose of lactulose after that night, believe me.

Hairgician · 22/09/2017 20:33

Me and OH going to take the walk to asda instead of driving to see what I can find there hoping the walk will help a little! Really want this situation dealt with by tonight don't to be worrying like this all weekend Sad

Many people saying some gloves and get digging , I really can't get up there from stool being in the way (again tmi but I've lost all dignity by this pointGrin)

Believe me after this I'll be seriously improving my diet , don't need this shit again ... LITERALLY!!

I agree this shouldn't be an embarrassing topic, can't thank you all enough for making me realise this is normal and feel less weird!

This is my first pregnancy and my God does it do weird things to you!

Trying to tell myself there is people who are dying right now so I need to get a grip getting myself into such a state over a bit of stuck poo

This brings back memories Blush lots of good advice here though hope Asda have something that helps

Manctart · 22/09/2017 20:53

Hope you feel better soon!

Kohi36 · 22/09/2017 20:56

Epsom salt baths. Lots of water. Kiwis. If they don't work I find consuming teaspoon of coconut oil daily helps.

JuniperJuice · 22/09/2017 21:02

I remember this.
Agree with glycerine suppositories, however i had difficulty with um, the size of the constipated poo. Basically ended up grabbing a wodge of toilet roll and pressing on my perinuem (bit of muscle between the vagina and anus) and it really helped direct it out Blush.
Strongly suspect I wouldn't have posted that if I hadn't had sufficient Gin

confusedat23 · 22/09/2017 21:58

I also suggest getting somd gloves and pulling it out whilst trying to go.... i found suppositories to be useless once at that point because the poo wanted to come out!

Also It is amazing once it has all come out you will feel like a new woman!

But yeah after thst get some lactulose to take regularly 🙂

RooMama · 22/09/2017 22:11

When you approach the porcelain again, bring a foot stool or a pile of books or something and make sure your feet are raised off the ground when you go.

it is genuinely the most valuable tip I received my entire pregnancy.

DeadDoorpost · 22/09/2017 22:23

Lactulose at Asda is £5 just saying 😉 got a bottle of the stuff here myself as was in the exact same position as you yesterday. I've found though that root beer works for me. No idea why, just does.
And if all else fails, spend some time reading the Amazon reviews of sugar free gummy bears while you're sat on the loo. Great read, great laugh, and they'll help you out as well if you get some

Lozmatoz · 22/09/2017 22:25

Get lactulose prescribed, you don't face to pay on prescription. Drink lots of water with it.

teaandcakeat8 · 22/09/2017 22:26

Dulcolax

Go and get one now and take it before bed. I promise in the morning you will poo.

burninghigh · 22/09/2017 22:50

Finger up vagina and sort of push it down from the inside. I read that on mumsnet before and it worked for me once.

Terrylene · 22/09/2017 23:35

Some people get very bad cramps with Dulcolax. If you google it you can read the stories. I ended up on the loo at 1am in pain and shock, with my insides pouring out, trying not to faint. Certainly would not recommend this pregnant, or not.

Suppoitories and Lactulose is safer (if farty) and also movicol. Fruit and veg and kiwis is best.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 22/09/2017 23:39

Vaseline- lots of. Suppositories won't go in by the sounds of it.

Terrylene · 22/09/2017 23:50

I read on a study on how long it takes to poo that it is the lubrication you need. Rather than squeezing toothpaste out, it is like sliding down a slide. When you get constipated, the lubrication has dried up. It is like trying to slide down a sticky slide.

So lots of lube should help - Vaseline hangs around a bit long. astroglide? coconut oil? olive oil on some loo roll............ I have used pile cream before Grin Two birds and all that.

namechangeforpost · 23/09/2017 00:46

Okay so walking is definitely getting things moving but still feels too big!

I'm so tired so looks like this rolling over until tomorrow where i shall try again might even attempt a run (there's something I never thought I'd say)

God knows how I'm going to cope with giving birth Hmm but I am going to feel like a champion when I've defeated this monster! Can't wait for the relief..

OP posts:
DeadDoorpost · 23/09/2017 00:59

Once the monster poo is out you'll be able to face childbirth. At least a child is meant to fit through that hole! Hope it all goes well and you get the relief you need
