I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I’m now 6+2 and no HG! I’m concerned now something is wrong as this hasn’t happened before....
Not happy when I’m sick and now not happy when I’m not! Grin

Natsku · 11/10/2017 09:43

Can't blame you for worrying weasledee! too early for an early scan but can you afford a private one in a couple of weeks time for reassurance?

LucindaE · 11/10/2017 09:58

Iris65 Welcome to the thread nobody wants to belong to. I so agree about Flumplet being best off taking a solid amount of time off and seeing how it goes, if possible. Re: parasites - I think dark humour is one of the best ways of getting through this and it is so reassuring when doctors liken the baby to a parasite, who will take what is needed from you!
Flumpet I am so glad you have escaped. I really think you should take some time off if possible. Resting is the best treatment for this, and it is definitely not cheeky to do that. Most sufferers have to take a fair bit of time off.
Natsku Quite a few on here have had to have that test, and I am sure someone who knows more of it than me will be able to advise how to cope with it best. I don't even know why they single out some women as at risk. Is it through bloods? As they know you have Hyperemesis, the staff surely are prepared for your vomiting up the glucose drink, but best to warn them that you need a bowl!
weasledee I can understand your being anxious after last time, but after all, it is still early days yet for the symptoms to kick in. Maybe risk eating something rich if you get too anxious? No doubt the fun will start soon enough, but with luck it will be controllable sickness this time.
BATMAN How did things go?
Hairgician Aagh! If it is an infection, you need to see a dentist asap.
I am sure one will take you on as an emergency, and be extra gentle if you have a phobia about dentists.
seize Sorry that the sickness is back.
Waves to DeadDoorPost, Bunnyfluffy and everyone.
Watch me cross post.

The midwife told me they test all pregnant women here unless they're under 25 with a normal BMI (which is why I didn't get tested when pregnant with DD). Will definitely warn them that I might be sick. Think I better book it for a day I'm not working in case it does make me ill.

justtheonethen · 11/10/2017 10:03

weasle every pregnancy is different. Just try and enjoy it. I hope you remain gloriously HG free!

weasledee · 11/10/2017 10:22

Natsku, I have an early scan booked with nhs at 8 weeks due to what happened last time. I do feel mildly sick now but can’t believe I’m not living with my head down the toilet Smile

Natsku · 11/10/2017 11:19

That's good that the NHS are sorting you an early scan. Maybe you're just getting a lucky break this time with the sickness, or maybe your dates a little out.

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 11:36

Oh Weasel how awful and stressful is pregnancy?? Just focus on the silver lining that is no sickness at the mo if you can.

Aww Mellee great update. Totally agree with the grey complexion now it yo-yo’s between grey or bright tomato red due to flushes. Love pregnancy me .

Sorry iris but both my bumps have felt like parasites I certainly didn’t love mini any less for feeling that way. I never really enjoyed their movement either as it always made me feel more ill but I see your point. We all have quite a black sense of humour thanks to HG take what we say with a pinch of salt. We still appreciate we are lucky to be having babies promise.

@BlueButTrue How are you doing??? Not seen your name again in awhile. I hope all is going ok for you.

Natsku I struggled with the GD test but coped, it’s the starving from the night before with just little sips of water that made it worse for me. I ended up being a little sick and just punching my nose and swallowing it as I absolutely refused to do the test again. My midwifes were really understanding though which helped, they weren’t impressed that they had to take blood from my hands though, oops.

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 11:38

*pinching not punching although was quite a funny image.

Natsku · 11/10/2017 11:40

Grin punching your nose!!

I can't stand sweet things on an empty stomach - and why does it have to be a drink? Would rather just eat a few spoons of sugar!

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 11:43

Mine was a slightly peachy flavoured drink with quite a syrupy consistency. Others could confirm if it’s the same everywhere else. I know what you mean I find fluids much harder to keep down, couple of tablespoons of golden syrup would be good for me lol.

Haha I know what a typo, that would be the weirdest way to deal with vomiting.

weasledee · 11/10/2017 11:47

Thanks ladies, feel bad moaning when you are all suffering so badly x

Bunnyfluffy · 11/10/2017 11:55

I didn't make it to London. Sleepless night (thanks diarrhoea)

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 12:01

weasle Hoping you are lucky this time round but thinking it might be a bit too early for full fledge sickness to kick in. Either way you don't need to feel bad to moan, we all support each other here through the horrid bad sickness days and the HG free ones as well Flowers

Natsku I have my GDT test in 4 weeks time and will be waiting for your update on it!
Can't imagine being able to stomach a very syrupy drink. Just the thought of it makes me retchSad

Mustang Starving the night before! Totally forgot about that part until I took out my maternity notes to double check my dates. My poor stomach is not gonna be happy about or the syrup drink -grim-
Do we get the results on the same day though?

Natsku · 11/10/2017 12:02

Oh dear Bunny

Pram and changing table arrived yesterday - love the pram! Going to set up the changing table/bath today (to make sure its alright in case I need to send it back as it came from Sweden so bit of a tight time frame on returns!)

DeadDoorpost · 11/10/2017 12:02

iris it might give women the chance to be a parent but while it's growing it's still a parasite. It's not giving anything back at that stage.
But then I never wanted children so I can't say how it feels to want one.

Dreams got better from what I remember? Something about uni, and being pregnant and not doing homework for maths and science. Woke up and realised I'd also pulled a muscle so I couldn't get out of bed for a while as it was right a long my bump and I couldn't bend or roll off the bed.

Natsku · 11/10/2017 12:06

Well bugger, just trying to book my test and it has to be done at 8am, which means leaving DD to leave for school by herself and I know she doesn't want to do that and I'm not sure she'd remember to leave on time anyway.

Mustang27 · 11/10/2017 12:08

Don’t be daft Weasle there is so much to stress about with being pregnant and that early stage where the symptoms however unwanted are the only confirmation that baby is in there sometimes are a reassurance regardless of how awful they are.

pippanippa · 11/10/2017 12:14

Ah sorry to hear that bunny but rest up, London can wait for another day.

Natsku I didn't find the GTT test fun, I can't lie, but manageable. It did make me feel like vomiting (really had to resist the urge as didn't want to do it again), and I also felt quite faint (but maybe my reaction was more strong because I failed, not sure if that's ever the case?). Anyway, I must've looked a bit pale as they offered for me to have a lie down in a side room, which helped massively. Maybe take one of those handheld fans and ask for a quiet place to put your feet up, and take something to help you pass the time too, or even better if someone can go with you to distract you it's brilliant.

Mellee great to hear you are both doing well, so lovely! Weasle I hope that scan gives reassurance soon, worrying is so awful, and totally understandable.

Mustang hope you are feeling a bit better. I'm doing ok thanks, spoke to a dietician today who made me feel so much better, reminding me that the growth restriction and HG aren't connected (have been feeling horribly guilty). For the first time this pregnancy I've just said enough is enough, I'm not going to try and muddle through anymore. I am in bed and staying here for a few days - I'm only leaving the house to go to hospital appointments. I have a cold and between that and the vomiting/just being pregnant I am exhausted and am going to listen to my body for once and rest! We are going to get all the baby stuff ready this week which helps me feel a bit more in control (I am a massive control freak Grin), that way we're ready if they decide to induce, and if it's good news than even better it saves a job for later.

Hope everyone else is doing ok today!

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 12:17

Think I am an odd one here.
Just found out I am having a girl Blush Grin

Natsku · 11/10/2017 12:23

Odd one out Shehz!

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 12:27

Natsku Haha now all the relatives and friends will tell me I had " bad morning sickness" due to having a girl blabla Envy
Feels weird though, all this time I was convinced it was a boy Blush maternal instinct fail lol.

Natsku · 11/10/2017 12:37

I was convinced DD was a boy too.

Shehz21 · 11/10/2017 13:20

Natsku Is it a boy this time round?

justtheonethen · 11/10/2017 13:31

They think ours is a girl based on the sonographer at our 12 week scan. She said 75% sure. If it is we can be odd ones out together shez!

I have to have GTT in December and I'm already dreading it. Punching your nose Grin

iris I tried for 4 years and had ivf, I so desperately want to be a mother and I'm so grateful and happy that I'm getting the chance. Doesn't mean the baby feels like anything other than a parasite at the moment and in darker moments I considered aborting this much wanted pregnancy. HG is tough and we cope with dark humour and reassurances that these thoughts won't affect our ability to love our babies.
