I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I'm just here to complain right now. Headache again but with a sore throat. I've probably got another cold coming on... 3rd one during the pregnancy. This baby better get some of my immune system from fighting all these stupid colds. I used to never be I'll before the pregnancy but this headache is ridiculous. And I know exactly why. It's my own fault for not drinking enough but still 😣😣 just had a drink and paracetamol. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep it off.

pippanippa · 15/09/2017 10:04

mamabear I hope that baby doesn't keep you waiting too much longer! Sorry about the cold and headache deaddoor hope you are feeling better today!

Thanks satsooma I tried adding copious amounts of butter/cheese and full fat yoghurt to my diet but it didn't seem to make a difference unfortunately. However, I had great news at my appointment. The nurse said my glucose readings were low, in fact so low I was hypoglycaemic. That's obviously not the good news, the good news is that this means that their I don't need to follow their strict diet anymore, it was too strict for my circumstances evidently and I can now eat more carbs and sugar, particularly when I'm sick. So I'm back, almost to my normal diet and at last today the ketones have gone, I don't feel as dizzy and am back to my previous level of unwellness, which I will count as success Grin. Obviously still keeping an eye on things, but even with the relaxed diet all glucose readings have been fine so far. The nurse did speculate that it might have been a false positive test result. Anyway, I will see the Dr next week to discuss in more detail what all this means, but am enjoying my few days of eating relatively normally in the meantime. Even had a day without vomiting yesterday.

Hope others are having a good day today, the cold weather has arrived here and it's blissful now it's not hot anymore!

DeadDoorpost · 15/09/2017 10:16

That's great news pippa! Headache has gone thankfully but throat still a bit sore.

spearo21 · 15/09/2017 11:52

I'm feeling horrendous today with HG :( I've been able to keep it at bay for the past few weeks with my last admission into hospital being around 18 weeks, I'm now at 21 weeks. I'm on a concoction of anti sickness tablets, 3 different ones just so I can function. They were working for a few weeks but it's just back with vengeance today and now I'm back to throwing everything up, bringing up blood, leaking urine when I'm vomiting and just generally exhausted. This is getting so so draining now, I honestly don't know how I can cope with this for much longer :(

dillydollydarling · 15/09/2017 11:53

Thankfully the doctors gave me ondansetron with no trouble at all. The past few days I'd felt really good. No vommiting, limited nausea but yesterday I massively overdid it and am paying for it today. Going away this weekend to stay in FILs caravan so hoping I feel better tomorrow!

DeadDoorpost · 15/09/2017 12:42

spearo21 have you contacted your GP to let him/her know? Sounds like you're better off going back to the hospital if there's blood just so they can check you're OK.
dillydolly good to hear there were no problems getting the ondansetron. Hopefully it'll make a huge difference for you. And the weekend away sounds lovely.

spearo21 · 15/09/2017 12:59

No I've not contacted GP as it's usually the hospital I go through as I have an open appointment really but only tend to go there when I'm on death's door. I've not been sick for the past hour or so hopefully meds are kicking in now and make me feel better. I just want this all to go away :(

satsoooma · 15/09/2017 13:08

That's great news pippa!

DeadDoorpost · 15/09/2017 15:44

spearo21 if it doesn't get any better it's best if you went back to the hospital. When my midwife found out I hadn't gone to hospital and been admitted she was horrified and annoyed. I promised the next time it happened I'd do so. That may be the next pregnancy considering how much better I am now but still. The look on her face...

Lemondrop99 · 15/09/2017 16:16

Rough couple of days here. Ended up over the hospital with reduced movements, had to have a growth scan. Had to go back for monitoring today. Threw up while in the assessment unit - lemon curd is horribly acidic on the way back (why do I feel like I've learned this lesson before.....) Thankfully baby seems find and his growth is right on track. No sign of baby wanting to come out a bit early. Still got three rooms of the house left to deep clean, but I'm just out of energy. I really want them finished before baby arrives, but poor DH has been working really long hours this week and might even have to work this weekend Sad Tried to hoover the house, now feeling sick. Grumbling over.

LucindaE · 15/09/2017 17:21

spearo21 Welcome. I am sorry you have had such a relapse. I so agree with others, do go to hospital to be checked out. The blood is probably from your throat if its red not brown, but for all that it's best to have it investigated. Maybe it is a hormonal surge? Have you got kesostix? What do they say? But maybe you have reached the stage where they are measuring starvation rather than dehydration.
Lemondrop09 Cheering you and baby on up the drawbridge of the fabled Pink Castle. Sorry to hear over the reduced movements scare.
DeadDoorPost I am glad that your headache has gone.

dillydollydarling That is good news.
pippasnippa Good news too, about your not having to stick to that impossible diet. With any luck, it was a false test result the first time.
BlueButTrue Oh dear, about veggie sausages. Sad
Apologies if I've rudely missed anyone...

spearo21 Just saw your later message. Have you got full sugar coke in, ice lollies, or tinned fruit to drink the juice?

spearo21 · 16/09/2017 09:37

Thanks everyone for your messages! I phoned the hospital and was told to double my dose of stemetil along with taking my ondansetron and cyclizine which I done and fingers crossed haven't been sick since!!! Yesterday was still very awful with nausea but no more sickness from about 2pm onwards and managed to have something to eat late last night. Much better this morning and just so happy it has stopped again. I just don't understand how I can be functional at least and then just go downhill so fast again. Thankful for feeling better today!!

Mustang27 · 16/09/2017 10:25

spearo21 that's the thing there are a few hormone surges and most of us have relapsed around 19/20 weeks and 23/24 weeks it's bloody awful, you said you were 21 so it could be a hormone surge. I'm so glad that upping your meds has improved things hopefully things remain calm for remainder of your pregnancy. If not you have us to offload on at least

pippanippa · 16/09/2017 10:58

spearo21 glad you are feeling a little better today, rest up, and fingers crossed for a good day for you to give you a break from the relentlessness of it!

Hope you're feeling better today lemondrop, I know what you mean about being anxious to get everything prepared. Last time round I scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands and knees, not once, but three times in the run up to DD being born... I think a part of me hoped it would make her arrive a bit earlier (it didn't!). I'm starting to feel the same now, defrosting the freezer, cleaning the oven etc.

BlueButTrue · 16/09/2017 13:00

Okay everyone - worse day in a long while yesterday.

I had a hospital appointment to see the consultant and took a taxi back home. On my way back, I projectile vomited on his front seat (I was sitting at the back), and had to
vomit best as I could into my handbag Blush

He charged me an extra £20. I was not in a good way at all yesterday.

Today I feel really well though Smile

I'm getting pissed off at a MN thread as someone's commented saying last year they got their DC absolutely nothing for Christmas as they didn't want to Hmm okay then, not a single thing to open? Such fun.

BlueButTrue · 16/09/2017 13:01

Sorry for everyone feeling so rubbish Flowers

The end is in sight!

Mustang27 · 16/09/2017 18:03

Oh Blue that sucks, 20 seems pretty reasonable it would be 75 quid up here Hmm. Glad you feel a bit better today.

I'm glad iv not seen that thread.

LucindaE · 16/09/2017 19:34

spearo21 I am so glad that increased meds are helping you.
BlueButTrue Goodness - as you were ill not drunk he might have waived a fine. Does that mean your handbag is ruined, too? Many take doubled up carrier bags/nappy bags or sick bags about for fear of that happening.

Mustang Seventy-five pounds? My goodness. Do they manage to get it? How are things?

Natsku · 16/09/2017 19:40

Oh dear BlueButTrue I always take plastic bags with me when travelling by car just in case (thank goodness plastic bags over here don't have those anti-suffocation holes in them)

DeadDoorpost · 16/09/2017 23:54

Ok so heartburn is back... and I've just seen on the asda website that they do aniseed flavoured gaviscon. Has anyone tried this nd found it better than the mint because the mint is vile as hell and I'm not an aniseed lover but it's surely got to be better than vomits mint

Natsku · 17/09/2017 08:33

Aniseed definitely sounds like it would taste better, haven't seen it here though :(

BlueButTrue · 17/09/2017 09:59

I do usually carry sick bags but I'd run out unexpectedly Blush

Last night I was up every hour/hour and a half with acid reflux and then occasional vomiting because of the acid reflux.

I'm so fed up, I went to bed at 10ish and all I've had is broken hours of sleep since I'm up every hour or so. It's horrendous.

Wishful thinking, but maybe I'll sleep better when baby actually gets here?

BlueButTrue · 17/09/2017 10:00

Dead I take the aniseed Gaviscon liquid - it's the only thing that's really effective for me when my heartburn/acid reflux is bad.

Must say though, the taste is perfectly fine but swallowing the consistency of the liquid is always tricky for me, it's not nice but it's the most effective
