I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Yea fucking grim! They had me on ondansestron melts when I was in but sent me home with tablets. Was feeling sick going home and got worse over weekend. Even after switching to the melts. Now getting injections to see how I go. Think they were too quick to send me home. Bloods were normal but probably still had ketones present. So I will be asking tomorrow what they are like and telling them unless they are clear I'm staying put!
My last pregnancy I had to be admitted and was kept in 3 nights til they cleared. No probs after that.
Hugs to everyone struggling at the min. It really is awful.

LucindaE · 25/09/2017 18:33

Hairgician I hope you feel a lot better this time before they release you!

Wow Mammabear! Congratulations!! Yes, that was a very quick labour with a rather large baby. Hope you recover speedily from the complications. I'm so happy to hear your sickness has gone Grin

Not much to report here. Baby's movements have been reasonably consistent, so that's something. I think if I have to go in again for reduced movements, I'll probably induce me and I'm keen to avoid that. Actually haven't felt too nauseous today (now I've jinxed it) which has the lovely additional bonus of not feeling foggy headed. Had my piano lesson today (by Skype thank goodness) and my teacher was like "ooh you're doing really well today" and I was like "yeah, well it's the first lesson I've had in months where I can think straight". Made a huge difference. So glad I'm not having to battle through the nausea and brain fog at work any more - although I'll admit, I'm getting a bit bored at home now.

Lemondrop99 · 25/09/2017 18:38

*they'll probably induce me. I won't be inducing myself 😆

pippanippa · 25/09/2017 19:29

Hope you feel better soon Hairgician, and glad you're not having too many movement scares now lemondrop that all sounds very stressful.

Hope everyone else is ok today.

Mustang27 · 25/09/2017 19:46

Haha Lemon I’m pretty sure last pregnancy I googled self sweeps and people do it ShockShock.

Oh god Hair that is just bloody grim I really hope you feel better enough to go home soon.

BlueButTrue · 25/09/2017 21:20

How is everyone? Sorry I've bee so absent, it's been a worrying few days.

Midwife sent me for a growth scan Friday because my bump hasn't grown in 4 weeks Sad

Well... I'm now being tested for gestation diabetes tomorrow because Baby Blue is measuring a whopping 5lb at just 32+2 weeks!

The scan practically went the complete opposite way, Sod's law. But at least he isn't tiny.

The sonographer had to repeat the scan on his tummy because she thought there may be extra fluid, which can be dangerous. Turns out it's just an extra layer of fat on him BlushBlushBlush

BlueButTrue · 25/09/2017 21:21

MamaBear May I ask if you had gestational diabetes? That's really big!

My dad was 11lb 2oz and my DH was 9lb 10. Perhaps I really don't stand a chance of having a small, delicate flower of a baby Grin

BlueButTrue · 25/09/2017 21:21

MamaBear And of course, CONGRATULATIONS!

Not only on baby Flowers but freedom of the awful sickness x

justtheonethen · 25/09/2017 21:35

blue how scary. Hope all is ok and you don't have GD. My family grow them big too., grandpa was 11lb 1oz, brother was 10lb 10oz and nephew was 10lb 3oz to name just a few. I'm desperately hoping it's not hereditary!

BlueButTrue · 25/09/2017 21:43

justtheonethen Oh goodness! That's huge, but I always believe bigger is better than them being sickly and poorly

My dad was born to a skinny Minnie 16 year old Grin so odd that he was so big but I don't think she was ever tested for gestational diabetes back in those days

Shehz21 · 26/09/2017 07:26

@LucindaE I think doxylamine is unisom. I will try and ask for it when I am in Dubai next month. No i have been on Buccastem ( which does absolutely nothing) and Avomine( which helps on most days). I got Phenergan 25mg now which I believe is the same thing as Avomine.

Natsku · 26/09/2017 08:56

Bloody hell big babies! DD was just under 9lbs which was big enough! 99th percentile head which was not fun so hoping this baby is slightly less big-headed.

DeadDoorpost · 26/09/2017 09:20

DH's siblings were all pretty big. My brothers were 9.8 each and me and my sister were 7.4 and 7.2 respectively. I'm hoping BabyDoor takes after me...
BlueButTrue hopefully you'll get some answers. That must have been a shock!
Health visitor is coming round today for me.

Mustang27 · 26/09/2017 09:45

Mini mustang was just under 9lb too, big babies all round. Supposedly they are easier to get down the birth canal I’m sure that’s ppl just saying stuff to make us feel better lol.

LucindaE · 26/09/2017 10:51

Shehz21 Sorry, I mixed up what meds you are on. They refuse to give you anything stronger, then? I gather online that is an antihistimine with a sedative effect, so maybe like a stronger version of cyclizine?

BlueButTrue Five pounds is a hefty size for 32 weeks odd - I believe that is the weight of small newborns? But some babies are big without their being a sinister reason. Amazing your bump has stayed the same size! I am so glad you have got past 32 weeks now what with the earlier worries about your cervix opening. Do they put a stitch in, when that happens, or is that ineffective?
Natsku I so agree. You must have been praising your unborn baby too much for that head circumference! Grin

Lemondrop Cheering you on! Skype piano lessons? That's fascinating. Do lots of home tutors use Skype? Does that work out cheaper, or is it convenience?

Mammabear13 · 26/09/2017 11:47

Thanks for all the well wishes, we are settling in well enough although hormones are of course all over the place. I am loving eating porridge for breakfast again (hope that doesn't make anyone vom!)

Blue I wasn't tested for gestational diabetes during the pregnancy, although they are now querying this as a possibility due to the unexpected size. Little man's blood sugar was checked in hospital but he was fine and I have to do a GTT 6 weeks post birth, although I don't really understand how they can then tell from that. I didn't have any symptoms, I did measure big throughout but my growth dropped at 40 weeks and a scan estimated him at 8lb 3. It's funny though as my bump was not as big as it was with my daughter and she was only 7lb 4, I do think I tend to carry big and all out at the front too. I am hoping he was just big but I will let you know if the test shows anything. I would try not to worry about size if you can, scans aren't always accurate and at least you know that despite the horror of hg, you're growing him well Flowers

Lemondrop99 · 26/09/2017 14:50

Argh, I'm nearly at the top of the list!! (Or maybe I already am? We need an update from unborn!). Reckon it'll be an October baby though. Sigh

Lemondrop99 · 26/09/2017 14:52

I only have my lesson by Skype because my piano teacher moved to France!!! I tried two different teachers and didn't like them as much as my old teacher. She suggested trying a Skype lesson which I didn't think would work, but actually it's been fine. We just use our iPads to see what we're doing. It's been great while I've been ill, because I haven't needed to leave the house for a lesson. Hoping to be able to slot some lessons in around the newborn in a couple of months, again with the added bonus of not having to leave the house. It works surprisingly well (although I only started in January, so it's still pretty basic stuff)

DeadDoorpost · 26/09/2017 18:56

Had the health visitor come round and while it was nice to be told about the red book and what they do etc I can't help but feel like she was judging my flat. We've got boxes around at the moment as we're sorting everything out so it's not the tiniest but she said about it not being big and about the baby needing space.
I'd like to move but how much space does a newborn need??! He's not going to be crawling for absolutely months and by then I'm hoping to be gone from here anyway Sad it's the only bad experience I've had so far of the health professionals. I just don't know what to think. Cake for myself I think

BlueButTrue · 26/09/2017 20:06

Mammabear Thank you, I bet he loses quite a bit of weight now he's out though. Are you BF may I ask?

Dead Oh bloody hell, so sorry she's made you feel this way. Your flat is absolutely fine! All baby really needs is a place on your boob (or arms), and they're good to go Wink

All the extra nonsense is just that - Nonsense.

Lemondrop99 · 26/09/2017 21:28

Door, I wouldn't worry about her. You wouldn't believe some of the tripe various HVs have come out with within my NCT group. Your experience with your HV seems to vary wildly depending on the person you get. We've all be told different things, some of the stuff is just totally crazy. It pretty rude of her to butt in about the size of your home. Babies need space when they get mobile, but sadly us mere mortals can't all live in mansions! If you're still there when baby gets bigger and feel like he/she needs more space, well that's what parks, baby groups and play centres are for. I really wouldn't let it get to you, just take the helpful bits and ignore the rest.

dillydollydarling · 26/09/2017 22:02

After an okay few days the past couple of evening have been horrible. Does anyone else find they're worse in the evening rather than morning?

Ringing the doctors in the morning to request a medication change before j go downhill more and require another hospital visit. What should my next step be from ondansetron and cyclizine? I thought ondansetron was the strongest stuff you could get :(

justtheonethen · 26/09/2017 22:34

dead how ludicrous. Stupid woman.

dilly ondansetron and cyclizine didn't work for me but ondansetron and metoclopromide does. Worth trying it with something different. Hope your gp is amenable.

To whoever asked I find evenings awful.
