I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Def see about the metaclopromide. I had it via IM jabs. Currently switching between ondansestron and cyclizine. Felt better yest but today felt really rough and light headed again. Didn't keep food down til dinner time and now feeling bit better again. Long may it last.

Shehz21 · 27/09/2017 06:09

I second the ondansetron and metroclopromide cocktail. Though I personally did not try it, I have read lots of success stories of these 2 being used together.
Though I wonder why I have also seen on a lot of other threads that metrocroplamide shouldn't be used more than 7 days in a row? Anyone to shed light on this?
I alternate every other day between met & phenergan.

DEFINITELY WORSE in the evenings!

Shehz21 · 27/09/2017 06:14

@Lemondrop99 cheering for you while lamenting for nyself to be at the bottom of the list Blush

Hairgician · 27/09/2017 07:20

Also noticed it's been worse in evening's.

dillydollydarling · 27/09/2017 08:10

I have loads of metaclopramide left over from last time so I might give that a try! I've also seen that it shouldn't be used for more than 5 days in a row but hoping that it can be.

justtheonethen · 27/09/2017 08:36

I read that too but I've been on it for about 8 weeks! I keep meaning to ask but as the main risk is a muscle spasm thing (or twitching or something) and I don't have it I'm not worried.

Mustang27 · 27/09/2017 09:21

My hv told me on his first visit that to remember my husband had “needs” HmmHmm other than that he were absolutely brilliant and had the best floppy hair. He was a funny guy.

Dead you live where you live for a lot of people that can’t be changed she was being daft and pretty up herself. Ignore

Mustang27 · 27/09/2017 09:22

Oh and you can request to change your hv if you don’t gel. My friend did it made a massive difference.

Natsku · 27/09/2017 09:26

Though I wonder why I have also seen on a lot of other threads that metrocroplamide shouldn't be used more than 7 days in a row? Anyone to shed light on this?

Something to do with the risk of muscle spasm effects that might become permanent. I wasn't warned about it when I was prescribed it though, and they prescribed 30 days worth with a repeat.

weasledee · 27/09/2017 09:28

Good morning ladies! For those of you that remember me I'm back after my miscarriage at 14 weeks, with a bfp at the weekend :) it's very early days (4+1)
I've never been happier to return to this group :)
I already have very mild sickness feelings in the morning but my HG always starts day 1 of week 6 without fail! I'm going to enjoy these 2 weeks before I join you in the hell of HG (all being well of course!) Smile
This will be my 4th HG experience! Confused

Natsku · 27/09/2017 09:30

So glad you're back weasledee! well I mean not glad you're going to suffer HG again but glad you got your BFP

DeadDoorpost · 27/09/2017 09:44

Welcome back weasle!!! Obviously no-one wants HG but after what you've been through of course it's a relief! Enjoy the freedom while you can.

Thanks ladies about the HV. I don't know why it bothered me so much. But then, I just wanted to throw my hands in the air and yell 'I give up' yesterday. Definitely hormonal.
I've also found that sweets give me heartburn. Bummer. And that I'm definitely becoming more and more frustrated with my own body and the baby. Cannot wait to be able to sleep in comfort.

Shehz21 · 27/09/2017 09:45

Congratulations for the bfp weasledee !
You are gonna knock me off the bottom of the due date list now.
Sorry about re entering HG hell in couple of weeks. Make the most of your HG free days Flowers

LucindaE · 27/09/2017 09:54

DeadDoorPost That health visitor sounded officious and rude. As Lemondrop says, a mother with a mobile baby takes him/her out to places where s/he can crawl. A corridor will do as long as there are no sharp surfaces, for goodness sake! The baby will follow you from room to room anyway - getting exercise in the process, and as you say you probably won't be there in a few months.
dillydollydarling justtheone shehz21 and others - I had heard that too, that some doctors are nervous about prescribing it for too long because of the fairly rare side effect of twitchy muscles (for the mother, not the baby) but I have only known one woman on here develop that, and she didn't realise and stayed on it too long, but was still fine when she came off it, so...
Mustang I didn't know you could change your HV - I had an assortment, and didn't like any of them very much but I never knew which one I would see. Lemondrop As we haven't heard from 'Unbornmortificado* for so long, hopefully she got a lot better and in a few days, I'll assume her baby has arrived and you will then be officially top of the charts! Great advice. Congratulations on having the courage to take piano lessons when suffering. My admiration for all the sufferers on here goes up in leaps and bounds!

Hmm. Everyone I don't know if others saw it, you were all, being current sufferers, probably tucked up in bed or in LO's bedrooms tucking them up - again. Unfortunately, it is possible there may be an ignorant backlash about taking drugs in pregnancy because there are these unfortunate findings about that anti seizure drug and its side effects about which doctors were not transparent. This was NOT an anti sickness drug, it is sodium valporate given for epilepsy as seizures in pregnancy can cause miscarriage, but anyway, I thought I had better warn people that they may encounter ignorant criticism for taking any drugs at all, even if they, like cyclizine, have been taken in pregnancy without damage to the baby for about four decades.
MamaBear I am glad all is well with baby. I'm puzzled about that test they want to do to you, too...
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.

satsoooma · 27/09/2017 09:59

dilly I was on ondansetron and prochlorperazine (stemitil).

satsoooma · 27/09/2017 10:02

weasledee! congrats! Make sure you get on the meds early this time, I hear it can stop things getting bad in the first place :)

oh, and dilly, how much ondansetron are you taking. Some people on here were taking quite a lot at one point, maybe you could increase your dose? Another thing I found useful was to switch from 8mg tablets to 4mg tablets, but spread out more throughout the day.

Mustang27 · 27/09/2017 10:09

Ahh @weasledee so glad to have you back. Massive congrats on your bfp. Enjoy and eat all the foods. Il keep everything crossed the sickness isn’t as bad this time. 4th you are a braver woman than me.

Oh Dead frustration is totally normal and the I give up days only get more once baby is here Grin I jest (mostly).

Yeah you can, we tend to see the same HV throughout of it can be done. She was clashing majorly with this one hv and the last straw was when the hv saw the glass recycling waste full of wine bottles and hv promptly accused her of alcoholism lol.

Natsku · 27/09/2017 10:18

dead when DD was born I lived in a tiny 30 metre square flat and managed just fine. In some ways it was easier as when she started crawling I could see her wherever she went without having to get up off my seat! Moved when she was 9 months old.

justtheonethen · 27/09/2017 10:20

weasle congrats! Hope you enjoy your HG free days!

lucinda I hadn't seen that, how irritating. I have only had one gp so far be resistant to giving me drugs and a few "friends" make faux concerned comments who I have ignored since.

I'm having a relatively good day today so I'm going to meet my sister and nephew for cuddles and a bit of lunch and make the most of it. Midwife appointment first though and they are running late Angry.

Hope everyone else is surviving today.

LucindaE · 27/09/2017 10:43

weasledee Welcome back. I am so happy to have you join us again - if you see what I mean - and I hope you escape bad suffering.

OP posts:
weasledee · 27/09/2017 10:46

Thanks ladies, I've just done my first heave of this pregnancy as I walked into the lounge! Happy to be back Grin

Oklahoma · 27/09/2017 11:11

Weasle welcome back! Delighted you have rejoined us (although obv not the sickness bit).

Dilly what Ondansetron dose are you on? You can take up to 24mg in a 24h period according to my GP so either 6x4mg or 3x8mg. I found upping my dose helped a lot (but definitely get some lactulose!!). Cyclizine didn't help me either but promethazine combined with did. ondansetron is the best antiemetic but they can add steroids as well if that isn't enough.

Dead I am so with you on the fed up. I want my body back and I don't understand how I can possibly still have days when I am throwing everything up given I am 32 weeks pregnant and on so many drugs!

Waves to everyone else.

pippanippa · 27/09/2017 11:11

Huge congratulations weasledee so pleased for you (not on the heave of course - but on the BFP Grin). I hope that you avoid the worst of HG over the coming few months.

Hope all went well with the GD test Blue, if it does turn out to be GD the diet isn't so awful once you figure it out, although I do really really miss some things!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

BlueButTrue · 27/09/2017 12:28

weasle Hoorah! Congratulations Grin What's your due date?

BlueButTrue · 27/09/2017 12:31

Well yesterday was a bloody waste of time.

I was advised by sonographer that the consultant would probably rescan me and test me for gestational diabetes because baby is very large (was estimated 4lb 14oz at just 32 weeks).

Well, DH came with me and she said "I'm not going to test for GD, it's unlikely you have it. Looking at your husband, I can understand why you'd be having a big baby!"

Yes, DH is 6'3 but come on now, shouldn't they rule it out?

She was also very blasé about movements stopping and insists it's only really a concern if baby's movements reduce, rather than stop altogether Hmm

Baby Blue is dancing away in there but it did scare me the other night when he wasn't budging. Come morning he was absolutely fine and going crazy, but even still - I think it was wrong if her to suggest no movement at all isn't as bad as reduced.
