I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@Hairgician sorry you feeling so sick hun. Hg is indeed SHIT. 8wks was so so hard for me. 7-11 were the worst actually. The medecines can take a bit of time to kick in and until then I would suggest maximum amount of rest. I know what helped me get through the worst was lying horizontally for hours on end. Not the best option if you working or have a DC to care for I know but I feel all of us benefit from resting when we feeling at our worst.

Really sorry that dilly had to part with her puppy and people are feeling discouraged. 'This Too Must Pass'. Shehz21 Most sufferers fnd that Hyperemesis lasts longer than pregnancy sickness and most people feel an improvment between 15 and 21 weeks. Even for those who suffer throughout, the unfortunate minority, very few feel as bad later on as they did in the awful early part.
Much sympathy to all. Back soon...

Shehz21 Actually, I may be telling you what you know already...

@LucindaE yes but it feels good to have the reassurance from time to time and as you mentioned "This Too MUST Pass" !
Now looking forward to 20 weeks mark so that I am not too disappointed if it doesn't pass earlier.

dillydollydarling · 24/09/2017 14:06

Shehz with my daughter the sickness eased around 15/16 weeks I think. I'm hoping for the same this time.

I also finding lying in bed massively helps although not always easy with a 2 year old!

I'm finding that I'm living off bread and butter, butter on toast or ready salted crisps. Anything with flavour is really off putting at the moment. I miss my appetite and I'm sure it's not helping with the lack of energy.

DeadDoorpost · 24/09/2017 14:52

Someone came up to me today and asked how much longer I had to go.. she looked horrified when I said 8 weeks and thought I was due way earlier. Don't know whether she thought I was huge or it's just been ages...

Anyone know how to get a baby to turn? He's kinda in an awkward position... at least there's a bit of relief on my stomach atm. He's not pushing on it to make me feel sick...

dillydollydarling · 24/09/2017 16:05

Theres a website called Spinning Babies (I think) that has some good tips to encourage baby to move position

DeadDoorpost · 24/09/2017 17:03

Cheers dilly I'll have a look

Natsku · 24/09/2017 17:32

I'm on Doxylamine shehz but sadly its really hard to get in the UK as it has to be imported specially so more costly for the NHS which is a real shame as its a very effective drug and its actual cost isn't much.

Mammabear13 · 24/09/2017 18:19

Hi everyone,

Just to let you know that baby bear finally arrived on Wednesday at 41+6, weighing in at 10lbs 5oz! My waters were broken in hospital and little man was born after a very intense 1hr 28 mins of labour. We made it home yesterday after I suffered some complications from the size and speed of his arrival.

Thankfully I was much less sick during labour than with my little girl and I am pleased to report sickness is gone after struggling all the way through the pregnancy.

Hang in there!

Natsku · 24/09/2017 18:32

Wow he's big!! Congratulations and glad the sickness is gone now!

Shehz21 · 24/09/2017 18:51

Aww yay! Congratulations!
That's a big baby you got there but glad to hear the sickness is finally gone and you are home now!
Your last line made me so happy to read pleased to report sickness is gone after struggling all the way through pregnancy

There is light at the end of tunnel!

Shehz21 · 24/09/2017 18:53

@Natsku oh shame :(

Travelling next month to Dubai where my parents live, maybe will try to ask for it there.
At a desperate point enough to try different medecines to finally find the one that can really help me.

DeadDoorpost · 24/09/2017 18:56

Congratulations Mamma !!

Natsku · 24/09/2017 19:13

Hopefully you can get it in Dubai, its commonly known as Unisom. Or the pregnancy specific version that combines it with vitamin B6 is called Diclegis or Diclectin.

LucindaE · 24/09/2017 19:14

MamaBear Wonderful news! What a whopper! Grin Flowers Flowers Brew Cake. At last, Baby Bear is here. So glad the sickness has gone.
With all but the tiniest minority, the sickness does go within hours after labour. For a tiny minority of unlucky ones (about six or seven out of the hundreds of wome who have been on these threads and trust me to be another) it can linger a little while in modified form due to the hormones of breast feeding, but it really does go.
Much symapthy for all those feeling awful today.

Congratulations Mamabear so pleased your little (or not so little in this case) boy is here at last. That sounds like quite a dramatic labour, I hope you're recovering well and getting plenty of time to rest up, enjoying lots of cuddles, and of course, delicious food Wink!

TwoDrifters · 25/09/2017 09:58

Oh wow Mamabear that is excellent news! (Well, the arrival, not the complications!) That is one substantial bear cub! Flowers

justtheonethen · 25/09/2017 12:41

hair I thought you were. That's horrid. I hope this time you get some relief for longer.

LucindaE · 25/09/2017 15:30

Haiigician Poor you, that is dismal having to go back in so soon.
What meds did they have you on? I hope you're feeling a bit better now.
Shehz21 Doxylamine - have I got that right? I never heard of that. I do hope you can get it if it helps. Did you say you were on Ondansestron and Cyclizine and an anti acid (and presumably, a laxative)?
