@fluffyunicorntails

  • I tested only for about a week after.
  • I went to the GP once I was a week late on my period. He was uninterested. I had to self refer to the local hospital.
  • Yes perfectly safe to travel. Hopefully you don't feel sick.
  • Morning sickness very common but everyone's different.
  • I told my employer at 7 weeks because I was hospitalised due to sickness.
  • I had a reassurance scan at 7 weeks. You can't see much I'll attach the picture.
  • Everyone is different with pregnancy symptoms. They can come and go.

@fluffyunicorntails congratulations.
My morning sickness started right on week 6, peaked around week 8 and lasted until week 20. I told my manager at that point because I was so poorly and needed suport and time off. I also started to get some intense cramps around that time but all was fine. My friend however has has no sickness at all. She has actually had no symptoms at all. Everyone is different. I will be 32 weeks on wednesday. Enjoy your journey x

fluffyunicorntails · 04/09/2017 18:34

Thanks so much @squigglefish @mrsjkerry @ew1990 I am tempted to see if I can do an early scan at 6/7 weeks before i travel, just for reassurance really that there is a heart beat...im not too worried about seeing anything if that makes sense, just to know it is all ok! The pregnancy was such a wonderful surprise that I almost can't believe its real, and I'm such a worrier!! xx

Missonhartbaby · 04/09/2017 19:17

@fluffyunicorntails basically everything mrsjkerry said!

Although I did keep testing a couple times, just like once every couple weeks until I had my 12 week scan but that's cos no one actually checks your pregnant and I just found it hard to believe! haha!

I didn't choose to have an early scan, 6 weeks can sometimes be way too early for them to detect anything so I thought it was best to wait. I think midwifes would advise you against it aswell unless like ew1990 you were experiencing pain etc.

I was told to not see a Dr but to go in and do a form with the receptionist who then booked me in for my first appt which I believe was around 8 weeks? But it changes everywhere. As do everyone's experiences!

Just stay calm, positive :) oh and congrats!

Missonhartbaby · 04/09/2017 19:18

First appt with the midwife*

Hopeful2102 · 04/09/2017 19:57

At How many weeks did you have your first antenatal appointment?

mrsjkerry · 04/09/2017 20:45

@Hopeful2102 it's usually around 8 where they "book" you in to the hospital.

OP posts:
Bobbiepin · 04/09/2017 20:50

Yeah I think mine was about 8 weeks. Have you self referred to a hospital?

Hopeful2102 · 05/09/2017 00:19

No my doctor said he was going to refer me to the midwife had no contact since

Bobbiepin · 05/09/2017 06:47

Yeah they can take a while sometimes. If you get to 8 weeks with no cobtact call again. You should be in before 10 weeks but there's no rush, aside from sitting there pulling your hair out thinking "I'm pregnant, shouldn't someone be doing something about this?!"

lydiangel83 · 05/09/2017 06:54

Oh @MSH2010 I'm sorry to hear your babies aren't home yet. Are u in with them too? Is it because they were premature? Xx

MistyBxx · 05/09/2017 08:01

Hi girlies. Sorry I haven't been on much. So I'm now 17+3 and went for a private scan on the weekend where I found out I'm having a beautiful baby GIRL 💕😍
I'm over the moon as I'm one of 3 girls and my 2 sisters have one boy each (who I adore, they're gorgeous) but I really wanted a girl to be different and a change for my parents who will now have their first granddaughter!
Hubby was convinced it was a boy and is still in shock but is happy. I can't wait for my next scan now in 3 weeks time to confirm with the NHS lol although the place I went on the weekend were certain it's a girl!
How is everyone else on here? @ew1990 @mrsjkerry I honesty can't believe how fast time is going! You ladies will be mammas very soon 😍

ew1990 · 05/09/2017 09:45

@MistyBxx aww congratulations 😍😍 I know it's flying by, another 10ish weeks left, I'm starting to get scared xx

mrsjkerry · 05/09/2017 10:36

@MistyBxx this has made me so happy!!! Huge congratulations xxxx

mummyGof2boys · 05/09/2017 10:40

This isn't my first pregnancy but can i join in? I'm pregnant with my third baby. I will be 16 weeks on Friday. How are you?

MSH2010 · 05/09/2017 10:42

No I'm not in with them Lydia 😭
Compute everyday. Well get dropped off as had an emergency c section due to having HELLP syndrome. They were born at 32+3 3 weeks ago today. Still being tube fed at the moment. T2 has started taking expressed milk through bottle. T1 is struggling with desats whilst trying to suck 😓 so speech and language specialist coming to see him tomorrow

MistyBxx · 05/09/2017 10:46

Omg @MSH2010 wow I had missed that your twins have been born!! Congratulations but it sounds as though you've been through the mill and they've been poorly which is sad to hear 😭 fingers crossed the little fighters make a quick recovery, I bet you've been stressed bless you 😳 xx

MistyBxx · 05/09/2017 10:50

Thanks @mrsjkerry I'm so over the moon at the moment. The fatigue is still knocking me for 6, I can't sleep enough, even when I have 10+ hours, it's just not enough and I need extra hours in the day. Work gets in the way of these naps though 😡😡😡😂
Still awaiting this elusive "glow" I've been promised!!
Anyone felt their baby move at 17+ weeks?? They've said my placenta is at the back and baby is close to front so I should start feeling kicks soon 😍 I've felt the very occasional sensation which I can only describe as like a little spasm, muscle twitch or flutter in my lower tum, but only about once every couple of days, and not strong enough to make me think oh there she is!
But I'm very much looking forward to feeling her properly💕💕💕

MSH2010 · 05/09/2017 11:00

Thanks misty
It was me that was poorly, thankfully. If I'd listened to the hospital and treated it as a virus it could have been a different story for me and my babies

MistyBxx · 05/09/2017 11:40

Omg that sounds terrifying. It must be scary they arrived early but I hope you're ok and getting better yourself! How awful. It just goes to show, hospitals don't know everything.
I've found out that 3 of my friends have group B strep. One has had her baby now and they're both fine as she was given the antibiotics but the other 2 are still pg and will both have the antibiotics when the time arrives. This scared the life out of me and I asked my midwife if I could have the strep swab test but they said no as it's not routine and I'm midwife led so no need. My other friends were consultant led as they have background illnesses etc so they both had the test. And I don't get it because based on my info, they don't THINK I will have it. But how do they KNOW I haven't got it?! It's such a small test and yet if a baby catches it during birth and it's undiagnosed and unnoticed, it can be tragic! I'm now looking at paying for a private test although it has annoyed me that I should have to. Anyone else have experience of this??xx

SunyBay · 05/09/2017 11:43

@MSH2010 - I hope your wee babies get home to you soon.

Hi @fluffyunicorntails So to answer your questions:

Once you had your BFP did you keep testing? Or just accept that you are pregnant (I'm worried about Chemical Pregnancy - how common is it?)

I only tested once, but I was over a week late with my period (which is normally as regular as clockwork, and if it isn't, it was always early). Also, pregnancy tests these days are so accurate that I just knew.

Once you had your BFP how soon did you call and go and see your GP?

I called my GP the next day, and they just gave me a referral number for the midwife, who then booked me an appointment for the booking in appointment.

Im due to travel for work the first week of October, to the US, the would make me 8 weeks - is it safe to travel at that time?

Oh yes, I should think so, as long as you're not having any problems.

How common is morning sickness and when to people typically get it - I'm worried I'm going to be sick when I'm away with work and not able to hide it!

Morning sickness is pretty common, but everyone is different, so there's definite time to say when you're going to get it (or even if). I haven't had any actual vomiting - I was queasy early on, but nothing debilitating.

How early did people tell their employer?

I told my bosses really early, because I was off work for a week with dizziness. Also, I thought it'd be easier to let me them know, since I knew I'd be having time off for hospital appointments. And if something went wrong, I thought I'd rather they know so they'd have some understanding of what was going on. (And I am scheduled to do various things - I work in a library - so early on I wanted to say that there was some stuff I couldn't do, lifting etc.)

Has anyone done a private early scan (at around 6 weeks)? As you can probably tell....Im a worrier and thought it might put my mind at rest!

No, I'm just waiting on my first 12 week scan tomorrow.

Im not getting as many pregnancy symptoms at the moment, I did have sore boobs, cramps, really sore lower back (no bleeding or spotting of any kind), weird crazy dreams, heightened sense of smell and tiredness but in the last day or two my cramps and back ache have now gone...is this usual?

I've not had many pregnancy symptoms. Dizziness, mega-tiredness, occasional sore breasts, bloating and light period-esque aches (not quite at the cramping stage), queasiness early on (now it's just some smells make me feel a bit queasy), my sinuses are swollen, wind (lots of burping!), quite intense dreams (I've always had weird dreams Grin ), and now round ligament pain. All of these things come and go.

I hope your pregnancy goes well and welcome. Smile

mrsjkerry · 05/09/2017 12:09

@MistyBxx I only ever really got fatigue in the first two weeks. For me it's the nausea...still vomiting !!

You should definitely feel baby move soon. My placenta is right at the front (and thick apparently) which cushioned all the movements which is why I didn't feel her until 25 weeks xx

@MSH my heart goes out to you and your babies sweetheart. I really hope they are home soon. Are they making progress?

preggers17 · 05/09/2017 12:31

Hi lady's I am just curious because I am 38 weeks gone today and iv been getting period like cramping and nausea feeling sick all the time and diarrhea it's not nice to talk about but I was sure if these were signs of labour could I get some advice please

Missonhartbaby · 05/09/2017 12:39

@preggers17 it sounds like your body could be getting ready for labour but it doesn't sound like your in labour yet, I would keep an eye on the cramping though and see if they are regular etc. If it was me I would probably just ring your midwife or maternity ward just to see what they say.... I don't know enough about labour signs to give proper advice!! But nausea and diarrhoea don't sound like normal labour signs?!?!
