Yeah I thought the same. Was expecting to go to my booking appointment and have them tell me I wasn't pregnant!

ew1990 · 30/08/2017 21:28

I'll admit even though I had early scans I still took a test the morning of my 12 week scan just to make sure

Missonhartbaby · 30/08/2017 22:19

I just thought they'd do some kind of special Dr's pregnancy test but I guess not! Haha. I miss having the scans, two is not enough! And I refuse to pay for private ones. I may be having a growth scan on Friday though although she said it was up to the consultant so who knows!

mrsjkerry · 30/08/2017 22:37

Haha what @Missonhartbaby said is so true! I was astounded that everyone just took my word for it! 😄

I've paid for three private ones...😬 you're right. Two is nowhere near enough. And it's a long time to go from 20-40 weeks!!!

I've got another growth scan in a couple of week so get to see her again

lydiangel83 · 31/08/2017 07:20

I had 31 wk midwife appt yesterday and baby was measuring off the scale large, having previously measured small. NHS scan in a few weeks as a result of this, but because going on holiday Friday we paid for a private scan yesterday afternoon. It was all fine, normal growth range and must have been a growth spurt. I put on 4 kg in August and only 1 in July so that makes sense.

Two scans no where near enough we had a follow up to 20 wk scan as weren't happy with NHS one, then another at 28 wks because we felt it was a long time to wait between 20 and 40 wks, and then another yesterday as a result of the mis-measurement! Totally worth the money for peace of mind but it is an expensive business!!

mrsjkerry · 31/08/2017 09:52

I keep thinking that 40 weeks will come and go and the doctors will tell me I'm just fat and there's no baby 😄

Bobbiepin · 31/08/2017 11:14

@nrsj i make that joke with DH all the time. He thinks there's a baby in there but in reality its just food. I'll fart and it'll all go away!

Hopeful2102 · 31/08/2017 13:20

@Missonhartbaby thank you! I'm really excited just hope everything will be okay

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 10:53

I think it's way too early for me to be buying stuff but thank you :) I'll windows shop anyway. Cramps were back yesterday and lastnight they seem to have gone again

Flatwhite31 · 01/09/2017 11:14

So did I @ew1990, but my baby was dead, despite the very positive test. Pay for the scans ladies. They are worth every penny. I wish I'd had one at 10 weeks to save some heartache.

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 12:33

Oh wow @flatwhite very sorry to hear that!

Flatwhite31 · 01/09/2017 12:39

Thank you @Hopeful2102. I'd had a perfectly healthy scan at 8 weeks, and baby had died at 9. I wish I'd had another scan at 9 or 10, even though it would have been bad news, just to save the horror of being told at the 12 week scan that there was no heartbeat. I'm completely broken.

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 12:59

@flatwhite did you still have symptoms?

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 13:00

This is partly why I'm trying not to get too excited, may book in for some private scans. I didn't realise you only get two scans!

Flatwhite31 · 01/09/2017 13:16

No @Hopeful2102. I was being sick on the day I found out. I'm not saying this to scare anyone, but it's very easy to think everything is ok when it's not. I had no pains, not a trickle of blood and still had lots of pregnancy symptoms. Nobody talks about missed miscarriage, so when it happens it's such an awful shock. If there was more awareness of it, perhaps the shock would be slightly less for people.

I have had so many family and friends tell me they had never heard of such a thing. Statistically it's rare, so very unlikely to happen to you. Definitely book a scan though if you want peace of mind. Xx

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 13:24

This is why I'm scared @flatwhite my symptoms seem to be so mild now

Flatwhite31 · 01/09/2017 13:39

@Hopeful2102 do remember everyone is different. My sister in law was sick once in her entire pregnancy, and she thinks it's because she ate something dodgy! Her pregnancy was perfectly healthy, with very few symptoms. Pregnancy is just a complete and utter minefield. Remember, MMCs, particularly at 12 weeks, are rare. I was just very unlucky.

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 13:43

I'm still very early say 5/6 weeks and scaring myself with too much stuff on the internet I think

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 14:58

What should I do if I think I've had a mmc?

mrsjkerry · 01/09/2017 15:11

@Hopeful2102 please don't worry. Missed miscarriage are so rare the chances are you haven't.

I was also worried about this. I cried my eyes out at 12 week scan because I had been sure there'd be nothing there, even though I'd had a seven week scan. If there's a heartbeat there at an early viability scan then the chances of miscarriage drop to less than 1%. Knowing that went someway to alleviate the anxiety. @Flatwhite31 I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Hopeful2102 · 01/09/2017 15:15

@mrsjkerry I can't help but fret, the lack of symptoms is really scaring me they were so strong last week now I don't feel pregnant

mrsjkerry · 01/09/2017 15:17

I think you could benefit from an early viability scan. Book one and it may put your mind at ease.

OP posts:
Flatwhite31 · 01/09/2017 15:22

Book an early scan @Hopeful2102. As @mrsjkerry said, mmc after seeing a heartbeat is rare. I have just been extremely unlucky, which is why I'm finding it far more difficult than if I'd had an earlier miscarriage. It's so unfair.
