I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

I love pregnancy pillows - we all have them at home, me, OH, and DD!

LucindaE · 31/08/2017 09:36

BluelsYou Don't worry at all - I was raised in an era when you got zero support, and it was only diagnosed at university! You should have heard how my PE teacher used to shout when I went round the wrong way in country dancing, so I've developed a thick skin about my errors. Anyway, I ought to take more care.
on heartburn - I so agree with others. Definitely try and get something for the acidity and it will really help with the sickness as Lemondrop says.
Goodness, I have to rush down to High Wycombe at very little notice. I have contacted a couple of people whom I hope will help on here, and I do hope you are all coping and will be back on 3rd September.
Waves to lovely Lemondrop and justtheone and I hope Natsku's trip is OK.
Apologies for this sudden absence...
Apologies to having to rush off

Hope all ok lucinda, safe trip.

natsku ranitidine is doing wonders for me. Send your DH if they are difficult.

BlueIsYou · 31/08/2017 09:42

Lemon I take that anyway for my stomach ulcers Sad Wish it would help the reflux/heartburn for me too!

justtheonethen I'm 29 weeks now and it's as low as it can be, really. They're doubtful it'll move much at all for a natural delivery but if so then I can of course go natural Grin

I'm wanting a home birth... I'm a mad woman

BlueIsYou · 31/08/2017 09:45

Lucinda My Mum discovered hers at University too! Well, not discovered, but it was picked up on by a professor, I believe.

She's really lovely and incredibly intelligent, as I'm sure you are too Flowers

I have no sense of direction whatsoever. I can't ride a bike Blush I don't have the hand and eye coordination but funnily enough I'm brilliant on a horse. No idea about the bike thing.

I can't swing on a swing either. I can't get to grips with the mechanisms of the swing back and forth etc

I suspect I do have mild dyspraxia but I've never been tested for it

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 09:59

I can't get to grips with a bike either and can also ride a horse fine! My spatial awareness isn't great.

Yep mine is basically plonked over the cervix Hmm. Naughty baby. Will see how it goes. I wanted a home birth too! I have a bad back though so not sure that's feasible anyway.

DeadDoorpost · 31/08/2017 11:07

I spoke to my Dr about the extra sickness I've been feeling recently and he reckons it's to do with the heartburn I was having. Only I've not had heartburn for 2 weeks and still felt as sick as anything some days. I've given up now. Just emailing for more tablets basically so I'll pick them up later on when the train has stopped.
I'm also glad to be back home where it's lovely and cool compared to Kent. And the train journey was alright but I almost vomited and passed out during the 1st leg of it.

Natsku · 31/08/2017 11:12

Oh dear dead!

I'm on my way back now, so far so good sickness-wise. Absolutely knackered though as I barely slept last night sleeping in my friend's noisy apartment listening to him snore!

MotherofPearl · 31/08/2017 13:05

Hello everyone,
I'm an old veteran of this thread (2011 & 2015/16), with two HG pregnancies (plus my first, when I had 'just' bad morning sickness!). Lovely Lucinda has asked me to look in on you all while she's away at her mother's, and so I will do my best to help where I can.
I remember Magnum from her first HG pregnancy on this thread, so looking forward to hearing her good news - I see she's top of the due dates list!
Can I echo what justtheone says about ranitidine above? It was a real game-changer for me, alongside the ondansetron. Deaddoor, even if you aren't suffering from heartburn symptoms now, might some ranitidine be worth a try? A Tesco own-brand version is cheaply available, and at my local Tesco it's on the shelf in the main shop (i.e. not the pharmacy bit), so no annoying nosy pharmacists trying to forbid you from buying it.
I certainly hope the thread doesn't reach 1000 posts while Lucinda is away as I have no idea how to start a new one!

Natsku · 31/08/2017 14:23

Went to a pharmacy in the city and picked up some omeprazole so will try it and if it's no good I'll try the ranitidine.

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 16:18

On ranitidine- my consultant said take up to 150mg twice daily. So 2x the 75mg supermarket ones.
Just that I didn't realise I could take more!

That with ondansetron and metoclopromide are making me feel human. At least a zombie human version of myself Grin.

Getting a bit annoyed with people thinking I'm totally better now I can keep food down and I'm not in bed everyday. I still feel like shit and every day is a struggle, some less than others but I'm no where near "well". Sorry for the moan.

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 16:18

X post hope the omeprazole works natsku

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 16:19

Hi motherofpearl thanks for looking after us Smile

Oklahoma · 31/08/2017 17:12

Just yes - that! Yes I am now able to speak no that does not mean I'm better, yes I still feel like shit most of the time. The reason I look well is because I sit in the garden all day trying not to move so have a tan and I haven't put on any weight because I'm sick!!!

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 17:21

Exactly that oklahoma! I look well because I lost a stone so I have a tiny bump, massive boobs and no fat. I feel like death and being able to get dressed and hold a conversation doesn't mean I'm fine.

At least you guys get it.

LightTripper · 31/08/2017 17:52

Hello MoP #waves#. I had a message from Lucinda too but am so rubbish at MN on this phone I couldn't even work out how to reply! Will be checking in over the next few days too.

I had three sicky pregnancies (one ending in MMC, two in very lovely children, one of whom is kipping on my lap as I type).

I was not as sick as most of you (never hospitalised) but still found pregnancy a pretty grim experience, and found this thread a huge source of comfort and support when things felt very bleak.

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 18:07

lightTripper hi! We are well looked after. Bleak is a good word Grin.

I need people less pregnant than me to join, I feel like I'm always going to be bottom of the list!

TwoDrifters · 31/08/2017 18:56

Hello LightTripper and MotherofPearl I too have been asked to look in on everyone. Sorry I wasn't around much today - I unexpectedly had to travel in to Central London - but hopefully over the next few days I can help out a little.

justtheonethen I am ardently hoping soon to knock you off the bottom of the list but sadly we've been TTC for >6 months now and nothing seems to be happening. Maybe I should just be grateful to put off the onset of HG but on the other hand, knowing what's coming, I just want it over with! Though like LightTripper I was never hospitalised, although looking back I think I should have been. Hey ho.

Oklahoma and natsku I hope you've had ok days.

:: waves to everyone else ::

MotherofPearl · 31/08/2017 19:46

Big waves to LightTripper and TwoDrifters! Lovely to 'see' you both again; makes me almost nostalgic (although who would ever want to revisit the dark days of HG?!). TwoDrifters, sorry to hear about the waiting as you TTC; that's hard. Let's hope your next pregnancy is not an HG one.

Natsku, lots of people swear by omeprezole, so hope it does some good.

justtheone and Oklahoma, it's so frustrating isn't it? People think that because you're not in hospital and can just about keep food down that you're fine! I remember getting really snappy with people who told me how well I looked. It feels like nobody really understands how dreadful it feels. HG really can grind you down.

justtheonethen · 31/08/2017 20:58

motherofpearl it's so frustrating. I'm a bit snappy too.

Twodrifters fingers crossed for you. Took me 3.5 years and a round of ivf so I really do understand your upset. After 6 months I was going doolally Grin. Hopefully it will happen for you soon though and not just so that I'm not on the bottom!

TwoDrifters · 01/09/2017 13:27

Afternoon everybody! What sort of day is everyone having?

Ameliablue · 01/09/2017 13:53

Feeling pathetic, tried to do some tidying in dd's room but within 5 minutes I felt short of breath and had a sore back. But then at least I wasn't sick so that's progress.

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 14:51

Had quite a good morning but now lying still feeling dire Sad

Natsku · 01/09/2017 14:53

The omeprazole didn't help much last night, got very painful heartburn when I was trying to fall asleep but a couple of Rennies fixed it. Not sure what time I should be taking it, in the evening?

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 15:02

I take ranitidine when I wake up and then again at about 7. Seems to do the trick. Maybe try that instead?
