I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

The packet says only one a day

LightTripper · 01/09/2017 16:26

Have you been taking it long? I know some of these things need to build up over a few days so may be worth persevering?

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 16:58

Oh annoying. Swap to ranitidine if it's not working in a few days?

DeadDoorpost · 01/09/2017 17:14

I had my 28 week midwife appointment and baby is transverse. Blood pressure back to a nice healthy 120/70 but urine saying it's 2+LEV whatever that means. Baby is also measuring fine at 28cm so don't need to worry again which is good.
Only problem today was the fact they couldn't get blood out of me for the tests so they sent me up to the hospital. Total of 3 midwives to finally get it done. But also walked out with my whooping cough injection done so don't need to have that done on Tuesday now.
Still feeling sick. Appetite is still almost non-existent but forcing myself to eat. Sat here playing games on my phone as DH is now at work until 9.

Natsku · 01/09/2017 17:28

Yesterday was the first time I took it so I'll keep going for a week (maybe two as its a 14 pill bottle) and see if it improves.

MotherofPearl · 01/09/2017 19:07

That sounds right Natsku, as Light says, many of these meds take time to build up in your system to really be effective.

DeadDoor, sounds like a rather gruelling day. Are they concerned about the baby being transverse? I'm no expert in that but I imagine that there's still plenty of time for him/her to get into the proper position.

Amelia, your mistake was to do tidying! Wink Seriously though, try to resist the urge to do any housework and just rest. Easier said than done I know.

justtheone, how far along are you?

DeadDoorpost · 01/09/2017 19:13

@MotherofPearl midwife wasn't concerned. Still got plenty of time to shift position thankfully.

Ameliablue · 01/09/2017 20:00

I've pretty much done no housework all summer. Things are getting desperate.

LightTripper · 01/09/2017 21:22

I did pretty much nothing practical for the first half of my pregnancies. Drove me crazy though my OH was amazing. But I did notice that every job done (at work or home) had to be paid for in extra sickness and exhaustion. It is crazy frustrating though.

Loosemoose28 · 01/09/2017 21:53

I have GP on Monday. Im not actually being sick as such just retching. I feel like the room is moving all the time, almost like being on a boat at sea. 7 weeks now.
What drugs are best to ask for these symtoms?

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 22:05

I'm 300 13 weeks now Smile

loose the antihistimines might work for you as they are sometimes prescribed for motion sickness type things I think. Have a look at the website in the OP as there is a good breakdown of the drugs there.

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 22:06

And same here, if I do anything/have a more energetic day I pay for it after with extra sickness.

MotherofPearl · 01/09/2017 22:21

justtheone, well on the plus side, at least you're now in the second trimester. I'm afraid that to me, pregnancy was just about counting off the days. Each night I'd get into bed and think 'that's another day less of being sick done'.

Loose, cyclizine is usually a good one to start with. It can make you drowsy, but most people find that this wears off after a while, if you keep going.

justtheonethen · 01/09/2017 23:00

Exactly, a third done! I'm just counting down days by surviving at the moment.

TwoDrifters · 01/09/2017 23:02

Yes Loose cyclizine knocked me out cold when I first started taking it. I think I slept for 14 hours straight. But that soon wore off. Good thing too as I took it right up until the end and was still taking it in hospital whilst being induced!

Lemondrop99 · 02/09/2017 10:13

Natsku, if I remember rightly, the Omaprazole took 2-3 days to take full effect. Then once it's working, I had to make sure to take it every single day or it soon came back. I take mine in the morning but I'm not sure it matters (although probably best to pick a regular time and stick to it)

I would give it a few more days and see how you get on before switching. I think it's needs a cumulative effect at the beginning.

Also you can take gabiscon with it BUT yes need to leave a gap between doses. Don't take them at the same time.

Natsku · 02/09/2017 11:44

Was better last night so hopefully it'll improve over a few days

Natsku · 02/09/2017 11:48

Net doctor says to take it in and morning so shall do that from now on.

Just caught sight of myself in the mirror - my bump is massive already! God knows what the shop keeper thought when I went into Alko to buy a bottle of rum for OH, after pausing to read a sign outside telling about foetal alcohol syndrome... Makes me feel like I need to declare to everyone "it's not for me!"

justtheonethen · 02/09/2017 12:38

Hope it carries on improving natsku.. The image of you looking like you were weighing up the risks of FAS and then buying a bottle of rum has really tickled me Grin

Natsku · 02/09/2017 12:41

It must have looked like that!

LightTripper · 02/09/2017 19:29

I had the same experience with cyclizine knocking me out for the first few days but it definitely took the edge off.

I went to buy a bottle of maraschino liqueur when I was about 30 weeks as I was passing the shop in Soho that (as far as I know) is the only place that does it. They didn't bat an eye, I was quite disappointed, but that's Soho for you I guess!

MotherofPearl · 03/09/2017 12:35

Quiet on here; hope everyone is managing?

Grin at Rumgate!

Natsku · 03/09/2017 13:35

Feeling a bit sick despite medicine so wondering if its a hormone surge (19 weeks yesterday) but on the positive side the omeprazole seems to be working better now, just need to remember to take it in the morning as I forgot until mid-afternoon today. Think I'll keep it with my thyroxine in my bedside drawer so I take it as soon as I wake up.

pippanippa · 03/09/2017 13:45

Hi everyone. It's been a quiet couple of weeks for me, same old, same old. A bad day today unfortunately thanks to a lot of heartburn making the vomiting worse, but I am putting my feet up on the sofa for the day in between running to the bathroom to throw up so shouldn't complain!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

BlueIsYou · 03/09/2017 16:13

Oh no ladies, 30 weeks almost and I've gone down hill Sad

Just threw everything up that I had for lunch, and I feel deathly tired.

The nicest thing about later pregnancy HG is I seem to want to eat somewhat sometimes.

I've also got into the habit of chewing on fresh towels Hmm no idea why, weird pregnancy habit of mine
