I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Good luck Haich!!!

Just the same Lucinda I don't like to moan as everyone seems to be really struggling lately I'd just be adding to the woe plus with our recent losses it hits home no matter how ill I am I'm very lucky to still have my baby. Sorry I don't mean that insensitively in any way it just makes me see there are worse things out there than HG.

LucindaE · 13/08/2017 20:02

HaichM Ooh, good luck! Looking forward to a picture of the baby.
Flowers You have been wonderfully stoic and supportive. [stgar]
...And Melleebacca...Star
Melleebacca I don't see why the midwife was grumpy?
Thingymaboob Sorry about the scare and spd. That manager sounds awful; however do people with such attitudes become managers? I am quite Angry at such behaviour. Is she a Head of Department or what? I so agree about anti acids. They have really helped the sickness for many sufferers on here. I agree about Gaviscon too; it made me vomit strange foam!
Bluesyou I am very sorry that the sickness has returned in full force at 27 weeks. Glad the bleeding has slowed.
User1471 I am so glad that the tablets are helping.
Apologies to anyone rudely ignored.

Mustang Cross posted. Don't ever feel guilty for moaning, though it is so tragic when women on here have losses.

Lucinda - she's must cheerier today. Thank goodness, since she has to put in an IV line.

The view from my hospital room is quite lovely. Hope I deliver in this room.

Congratulations Haich, he's lovely.

Lemondrop99 · 14/08/2017 08:31

Congratulations Haitch!

I think it must be baby weekend. The first person in my NCT group had her baby yesterday too - despite not being due until early October! Certainly shaken me into thinking I should get a hospital bag sorted, just in case (although I'm utterly convinced I'll end up going overdue).

I'm feeling quite well here at the moment. Last time I threw up was Friday, but haven't had much nausea at all. Haven't managed to work out if I'm just having a good spell (it comes and goes, I have ups and downs) or if this is connected to stopping those damn Pregnacare tablets Confused If it's taken me most of my pregnancy to work out they were contributing to the nausea, I'll be so annoyed!

Mustang27 · 14/08/2017 08:32

Haich he is absolutely gorgeous and I love that he is looking at his daddy in that side way glance, he already has mischief planned 😍😍😍.

Congratulations. Enjoy being vomit free xxx

Haich aww what a cutie. Congrats 💖 xx

starsshinebright · 14/08/2017 09:39

Hi everybody.

I'm new to this thread, I'm 6+5 weeks pregnant with my 8th pregnancy (7 previous miscarriages) and this is my first with hyperemesis, which fingers crossed means the pregnancy will stick!

I feel absolutely horrendous, I was admitted for fluids on Friday and was on IV sickness meds which made the weekend slightly more bearable. Today the sickness is back with a vengeance though, I've been awake since the early hours and the only way I can sit without throwing up is leaning against a cushion leaning to the side!

I had last week and today off work using annual leave, not sure how I'm going to go back tomorrow. And I've got a training course 1.5 hours away on Wednesday that I need to drive too! Any helpful tips welcome!

I am on cyclazine (sp?), but I have only just started taking it so don't know how long it takes to kick in properly?

starsshinebright · 14/08/2017 09:40

Congratulations Haitch, he's gorgeous!

Mustang27 · 14/08/2017 10:06

Hi star so sorry to hear about your losses that's truly awful. HG is no fun though I'm hoping you are one of the lucky ones that find it's completely gone by 16-20 weeks.

Ok so the drugs are always a bit hit and miss for everyone cyclizine certainly did nothing really for me for the first 16-18 weeks but the can and do work for a lot of women. Most find they get the best relief with ondansetron which is often a real battle with your go to get prescribed for numerous reasons. Give the cyclizine no more than 3 days and match straight back to dr on an emergency app to get something else to try. There are lots of helpful links the others will put up so you can read about them so you know what your asking for in this scenario. Did they tell you what meds you were getting through your fluids?

There are also loads of helpful info on what to try to help you not become too dehydrated through your the threads, Lucinda will point you in the right direction. Oh and my advice dont go to work it's not worth it and with your previous losses it's really not worth the stress. Dr will give you a sick note stating HG pregnancy sickness and your work cannot discriminate in anyway whatsoever when this is the reason.

Mustang27 · 14/08/2017 10:07

God sorry about typos struggling today

Hollyhop17 · 14/08/2017 10:49

Well done Haich! I had to come back to congratulate one of my 'class'!! I hope you are enjoying some deserved rest, drink and food!

For everyone else suffering, I had HG the whole pregnancy, it was horrendous but it does go, I know that isnt helpful when in the midst. Sorry so many are suffering. Hugs.

LucindaE · 14/08/2017 10:52

HaichM Wonderful news. I hope you slept as well as can be, in a ward of babies. Flowers Star Grin. Such a lovely baby. You have been so helpful on the thread, though you suffered from so many painful complaints. Glad you and baby fed in the early hours.
starshinebright Welcome. I am so sorry for such a number of losses - that is really traumatic. Did you get any treatment for it? You have already had great advice from Mustang. I can only add, to invest in some kesostix, available from any chemists, to check for the early stages of dehydration. On liquids people on here have found helpful - ice lollies, the juice of tinned fruit, flat full sugar coke, soda water, ice cubes, orange squash, fizzy orange, Lucozade, Dr Pepper, Elderflower water, cocoanut milk and sips of chocolate milkshake - maybe soya. For foods, tinned fruit - especially peaches, cheap ice cream, nibbles of crisps, cuppa soup, slices of frozen melon and jelly.
A dreadful diet, I know - but sweet and salty foods do seem to help.
Melleebacca That is a wonderful view.
Bluesyou How is the employment situation re your OH going, if you don't mind my asking? It must be very stressful. How is the bleeding?
Lemondrop That is good news. Maybe it is stopping both work and the vitamin pills?
Waves to all.

Hi Lucinda, DH still hasn't found another job. We aren't entitled to any benefits to help with paying the bills and so I'm forcing myself back to work. Sick bags are stuffed go the brim in my handbag.

Still bleeding. Should be taking it easy and resting at home but I physically can't. Just fighting through and hoping it all works out. If I didn't force myself into work, we'd be homeless before the baby arrives.

We can't lose this house, we just can't Sad

justtheonethen · 14/08/2017 13:31

blue that sounds horribly tough. Flowers

Cyclizine did nothing for me except turn me into a zombie. Definitely go back for better tablets star. The website in the OP is good for explaining what you can try.
Interestingly the hospital said they don't bother with cyclizine anymore as it rarely does anything.

Anyone else struggling to sleep in same bed as their DH? Mine has been in the spare room for a while and every time we try to share it just makes me feel dreadful. It's the movement/the smell, not that he smells Grin
