I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is great: 024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.

So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

@user1471462428 glad you've got some fluid. Are they giving you IV ondansetron? Please ask for it! It's really the best and will hopefully prevent you from being admitted again!

MagnumAddict · 06/08/2017 09:30

Hope Lucinda is having a nice time, Blondes thanks for picking up the responsibility!

I haven't been on for ages but I was so violently sick multiple times overnight - I think it was food poisoning not HG but it took me back to that dark place and all I could think about was you poor souls going through it right now.

I don't know if that's any comfort but I was on my knees with HG and looking back was definitely depressed. I think it would almost difficult not to be but now it's over it's been shoved in a tiny corner in my mind and only triggered when something like last night happens.

A clumsy way of saying, this time is shit, really really shit. But it absolutely will end and you will feel back to yourself again.

Wish I could wave a magic wand for all of you.

As for me pregnancy is almost over now. I have a date planned for my section in three weeks time. I will miss the baby moving but that is all I will miss. As this is my second baby I can happily say this is my last!

Hugs and hair/hand holding to all

justtheonethen · 06/08/2017 09:43

Great news user Smile. Agree about iv ondansetron.

I have 3+ ketones again. Haven't kept anything down since Friday night. Think I have to go back Sad. Although last time they discharged me with 3+ ketones so who knows. Feel like shit.
Am starting to have some really dark thoughts and feeling really hopeless.

user1471462428 · 06/08/2017 13:46

Justtheonethen I think having dehydration makes you depressed I was really low before admission. My hospital won't give IV Ondanestron just metoclopramide and cyclazine. Seeing a private GP this week so hopefully he will prescribe some oral to take at home. I'm not sure how I'd cope having to come back here so I'd rather pay and be treated properly.

thingymaboob · 06/08/2017 15:19

@user1471462428 why won't they give you ondansetron?!

beanhunter · 06/08/2017 15:33

Ok embarrassing question (and possibly more relevant to those on 2nd or more pregnancy). Is a anyone else having a problem where every time they vomit they also wee a bit? I didn't think my pelvic floor was that bad and normally it's ok but just had a majorly embarassjng episode while out and wondered if if was just me?

justtheonethen · 06/08/2017 16:00

bean you poor thing Flowers

user they sound a bit rubbish.

I spent two hours on a drip in a corridor as it's so busy here but on the ward now. On third bag, after 2 my ketones went up to 5+ from 3+ rather than down which has confused them! Got a side room now so going to have a sleep

Wish I could have iv ondansetron everyday, it's marvellous.

thingymaboob · 06/08/2017 16:13

@beanhunter it's not just you. A little bit of pee comes out every time I vomit. Furthermore, during two particularly violent vomiting episodes around 8-9 weeks, I was sat on the sofa vomiting into a bucket and I pissed all over my sofa. Literally soaked the cushions through. My DH was amazing and washed them and my awful vomit! I haven't even had a baby yet so god knows how leaky I'll be after birth!!!

Ameliablue · 06/08/2017 16:44

Yes bean I have the same problem and on third pregnancy this time, it can be quite bad. I'm countering it by going to the toilet more often so I don't have too full a bladder

Anatidae · 06/08/2017 17:24

Bean yes I had that. Grim.

I'm going to hide this thread as I am bleeding very heavily and pretty sure I miscarrying. Wish you all the best of luck with your pregnancies and an easy ride of it as possible.

user1471462428 · 06/08/2017 17:29

Bean I vomited violently yesterday and wet myself too. Worst thing is I was in urgent care and they don't stock paper pants so just went commando.

Just, the doctor who refused Ondanestron said it was a trust wide cost saving policy, clearly my department haven't got that memo as I hand it out like smarties to my patients.

thingymaboob · 06/08/2017 18:01

@Ameliablue I'm so sorry! Hope you get a scan soon...💐

thingymaboob · 06/08/2017 18:03

@Anatidae sorry, mumsnet populated the wrong name. Hope you get a scan soon.xxx

Natsku · 06/08/2017 18:07

Oh so sorry to hear that Anatidae

Happens to me too bean I find crossing my legs very firmly when I vomit helps prevent too bad an accident. Always keep a spare pair of knickers in my handbag too just in case!

justtheonethen · 06/08/2017 18:28

Sorry ana Sad

Oklahoma · 06/08/2017 19:30

Bean yes that is very common and doesn't mean anything for after pregnancy. I did no pelvic floor exercises while I was pregnant with Oklette but had no incontinence afterwards. I think puking multiple times a day is actually an excellent pelvic floor work out.

beanhunter · 06/08/2017 19:33

Thank you all for making me feel normal. It's been ok when at home but today was mortifying as was out at a park with people I hardly knew who don't know I was pregnant and there was no toilet paper and I ended up having to bin my pants.

Natsku · 06/08/2017 20:31

A couple of months ago I attempted to do a triple jump at a sports field and wet myself Grin

Mustang27 · 06/08/2017 20:36

Yep bean I combat this by standing up and crossing my legs and just bending over the toilet like this. Works a treat or keep a sick bowl in the toilet and just puke in that whilst sitting on the loo. Iv got quite a strong pelvic floor and dont pee with normal vomiting bugs iv had before this pregnancy so I'm not so worried. I think with everything shifting due to baby plus HG vomiting is exceptionally violent as often I'm wretching with nothing really to bring up. It's really embarrassing in public you could wear a sanitary pad or Tena if need be Sad. Pregnancy is not glamorous

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/08/2017 20:36

@User. Sorry you have uti and glad you got fluids

@Magnum. Thank you I'm trying my best to keep up while sorting out my 4mth dd

@Just the one - please go back in. 3+ is a sign of dehydration

@bean - I was one of the few who never wet theirselves while being sick - tho many are so please don't feel embarrassed
Maybe wear sanitary towels

@Anatidae - I'm so sorry tho to give hope my friend bled badly but still ended up being preg

Hope it's the same for you

Mustang27 · 06/08/2017 20:41

Oh god Ana I'm really hoping it's not, I bled pretty heavily with both my pregnancies right up to 14 weeks. It's not always the worst omen. Thinking of you and baby xx

DeadDoorpost · 06/08/2017 23:57

@Anatidae hope everything's alright. Flowers
Found out today my DH's cousin is having a girl. Typical That both of the cousins having babies the same year as me are having girls and not suffering at all with their pregnancies. Oh well.
Also found out today that I'm still doing weight but while also putting baby weight on. Explains the unmoving scale numbers at least for the last few weeks. Just means I can no longer work out how much I'm losing overall.

And MiL scared me with her Lab3our stories today.

Mustang27 · 07/08/2017 06:43

Dead I actually found labour a breeze compared to HG and pregnancy. It was an 19hr labour but just gas and air I found the pain was bearable and made sense seen as you have a baby evacuating your body lol. The last hour was the hardest when pushing it is mentally and physically exhausting but seriously soon as baby was here it all goes away. I'd maybe go as far to say as I actually enjoyed it. I was in the birthing pool for a lot of it but i was too relaxed lol so they brought me out to get my contractions to come quicker Hmm. You could look at hypnobirthing or other birthing techniques to help keep you calm and nobody comes and gives you a gold star for not taking the meds so if you need them take them. You will sqoosh it compared to having HG to deal with.

BlueIsYou · 07/08/2017 09:22
