Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

Bean,
Thinking of you, will mail tomorrow with as much Moose support as I can muster!
keep well

Allyco,
Thinking of you too, best wishes that all goes well.

Really put my "problems" into perspective - insert humble emoticon here.

Did anyone have a good weekend? We ended up in casulty with DS and his asthma, so another day off work for me today, only got 2 more to go. Now both DS and DD have nits, spent all evening sorting them out now mine and dh turn, isn't parenting glamorous!

beansprout · 17/07/2004 23:42

Geogteach - what's happening to the October meece?! Hope ds is ok?

florenceuk · 18/07/2004 01:23

Bean, sorry to hear about DSD and also the horrible phone calls. What about unplugging phone, but leaving mobile on so contactable in emergency? Geogteach, nit infection sounds very messy - I have to admit I am slightly paranoid every time I look at DS's head and see white flakes.

DS unexpectedly good today, after being complete horror yesterday and totally exhausting both DH and me and himself. We went to the gym and he went in the creche so I could have a swim - he was very happy, although he spent most of the hour glued to a Tweenies video. No accidents either, so he got a special chocolate star!

Miffy, I have bought Debbie Bliss's Babies Beginner Knits, and plan to make a beanie hat and a cardie - if I can find time to make it to John Lewis for the wool. I have found I only knit when I am pregnant though - must be nesting thing.

Bibiboo · 18/07/2004 16:57

Anyone else totally fed up being told how HUGE you are by colleagues, family, total strangers?! I am getting quite and a bit about it now. Had a sob last night to dh who thinks I am normal sized for a 6 month pg moose, unlike the rest of the world.
I had put it down to the fact that I was 13 wks when I started my new job and no one knew, so by the time word got round and I started showing properly (about wks 20-22), it came as a shock to them. Yes, I have goineI'm 26 wks now and todays words of wisom from the childless masses are:
"Oooh, you're going to go before October"
"You're soooooo big, I can't get over it"
"You seem to have shot out all at once"

you get my drift... I can't bring myself to be rude to them about it as I've got to work with them and don't want them to think I'm a s troppy old bag - so really what I want advice on is how to sto it getting to me so much?

beansprout · 19/07/2004 00:26

Bibi - completely sympathise. Am bored of comments from stupids expressing surprise that no, I am not actually due next month. I simply do NOT look full term. Doh!

After the miserable Bean that has haunted this thread of late, I just wanted to report some good news which is that my maternity pay and leave has been re-evaluated and I can now, rather than only afford about 5 months off, I can spend up to a year with my Bean before having to go back to work. Money has been my biggest anxiety in this preg and it has all just got a lot easier. Am a very, very relieved moose. . Hope you are all well.

piglit · 19/07/2004 11:59

Morning laydeez. I hope you are all well and still blooming. Thank you for all your kind words last week. My ankle is still giving me gyp and it looks like I've aggrevated my old achilles injury. Grrr... I can only just get upstairs unaided now and feel like a beached whale.

I'm sorry to hear that October meeses have been having a bad time of it and fingers crossed for a better week for all of us.

Turtle35 · 19/07/2004 12:21

Hello everyone the Turtle is back and feeling/looking huge!!

Something happened while I was in crappy Cornwall (sorry hope no-one is from there? weather sucked)

The baby seemed to grow like mad? must of been all those Cornish pasties!!

Sounds like my fellow Mooses have been having a hard time - sorry to hear your tales of woe.

Bean lucky you on the work front, excellent that you can spend almost a year at home!! You deserve it and I hope things are improving with DSD?I am trying to convince DH that I should/could do the same (fingers crossed).

Piglit so sorry to hear about the fall, that must of scared the bejesus out of you. My balance is all out of wack too, must learn to remember that.

My biggest problem I suppose is really sore back. Thinking of asking GP to refer me to someone. Any suggestions?

Bibiboo · 19/07/2004 13:05

Been meaning to ask wise Meeses, is backache worse for small people? Dh says my back hurts loads already because I'm so short - is he right?

Turtle,
Sorry your week was miserable (weather), not too nice here either (S Wales), but have had loads of texts from friend in Cancun telling me it's scorching over there! gee thanks!

beansprout · 19/07/2004 15:13

Something odd with this thread - this is my first post today, but the dates on previous posts say otherwise... ah it's this sort of attention to detail that earns me the reputation of "geek" you know...

Welcome back Turtle - sorry the weather was pants. I seem to have had a growth spurt too. Not sure how different I look but Bean's movements seem a lot slower and there certainly seems to be a lot more of him (her). Can now feel definite bits through my belly!

Bibi - have not heard of the short person/back ache theory. Is dh suggesting you are carrying the same weight baby as tall people but on a smaller frame? I would suspect that posture, fitness etc all play a more significant part. I'm not that tall myself (5'4" but know I have an ongoing back problem, so can't help with this theory I'm afraid.

Hope everyone else is well

OP posts:
cerys · 19/07/2004 15:37

hello everyone

we had a good week away and managed to do all the outdoor stuff at the start of the week when the weather was good. Didn't really want to come back and have got very little done today in work.

I have got backache too and caught sight of myself waddling along earlier, which gave me a shock.

2 more days and then DD1 finishes for school holidays, which means relying on the grandparents to look after her for full days when I'm at work. I know we're really lucky to have this option, but I hate being dependent on and even beholden to them , especially the inlaws!

sooz31 · 19/07/2004 16:48

Hi all.

Bean, you can put me into that geek category too as it had me wondering what was going on.

We had a v busy weekend (again). Bathroom shopping finally done and ordered - hoorah! And I went and ordered the bugaboo from John Lewis yesterday - ever bigger hoorah. Bedamned the expense of it. And went to friends wedding on Saturday. Exhausting. Mixed 'gosh' aren't you huge and small for your dates reaction... they're all bloody useless! I swear the dress I wore had shrunk at the dry cleaners, such that I had the imprint of my bra on my boobs as I went to bed! (Sorry to have to share that with you!!)

So, today's key question: is belly button still in or is belly button out? Mine is so out it's really quite vile (it stayed in for all of last pg!)

Turtle35 · 19/07/2004 17:01

Congrats to those on this thread who are now in THIRD TRIMESTOR!!! woohoo.

Bibi I am 5'10 and think that being tall is harder on the back but I would say that wouldn't I!! I had a weak back to begin with so I am paying the price for not doing any proper exercise before pregnancy.

Bump is definitely kicking more in the evening and through-out the night - especially at around 5.00 am, this is crazy, it's like clock work. God help me if this is going to continue once she is born. Please say the pattern stops once they are born....please. I just love my sleep and know that it's all about to end.

Sooz we ordered the bugaboo also - I know it's out of this world expensive but have had quite a few people say it was worth the investment - that's what I keep reminding my DH when he moans about the cost and how we have to pay so much more for all the extra bits like £75.00 for a footmuff! It is really cheeky.

Belly button is still in but very tight. Apparently some people put a plaster over them when they come out so it's not so noticeable. It's worth a try

Turtle35 · 19/07/2004 17:02

I meant TRIMESTER terrible speller.

huppa · 19/07/2004 17:24

Good question Sooz31 - I was only thinking about that this morning. Mine is just about still in, but I think another week and it will definitely be out .
Turtle - I can really sympathise. Bump starts kicking 5.30a.m regular as clockwork. I´m just hoping he´s getting out of his system now before he´s born.

Toots · 19/07/2004 17:25

Sorry all you back sufferers. I've been seeing an osteopath regularly since I was about 14 weeks. He is doing essential maintenance work as far as I'm concerned, and I know I would be in all kinds of trouble without him. He says my sacrum didn't return to base, as it were, after lest preg, and is now 'over-mobile' for which reading swearingly tearingly likely to give me gyp. It's pretty good at the moment. And I really recommend all you gals consider local recommended practitioners.

We are about to discover that the Bottle Fairy has posted a note through our door saying that she's in the area, and in return for dd's bottles being put in the garden, she's left a cup and a prezzie there(Toy Story 2 vid and a bottle of Matey - yes all you first-timers, they still make it. Hoping that matey's smiley face will persuade stinky dd to hop in the tub). This is the most elaborate piece of fraudulant whimsy I have attempted to carry out in my life. Wish me luck!

Also, at the risk of sounding uncool (and worse, metropolitan) might anyone want to meet up in Londinium in early September?

Turtle35 · 19/07/2004 17:34

Toots - Yes I would love to meet up, my last day in the office is 9 September so any time after that would be great. I know what you mean about sounding metropolitan!! Like the world evolves around London .... not!!

I love your story on the bottle fairy - let us know if it works!

I think the time has come for osteopath! I keep thinking if I am only 26 weeks now, what am I going to be like in another month....crippled no doubt.

Bibiboo · 19/07/2004 18:51

Ah phooey! Thought the short back theory might explain my aches, but everyone seems to get it, tall or short But DH won't be happy and will have to find another 'answer' for it, as men do. I'll find out tomorrow my back's aching because I wear contact lenses or something. Bless him though, he's trying to find pg-related reasons for every ache and pain, so I won't think I'm falling apart.
What are these Bugaboo things you speak of? And are they only aloud in London?

Bibiboo · 19/07/2004 18:59

sorry "allowed"

Bibiboo · 19/07/2004 19:21

Also, belly button is on its way out now. I can see inside it for the first time in ... well, forever! The rim pokes out when I laugh (or sob) like lips trying to kiss someone - was that too much info?

florenceuk · 19/07/2004 20:13

Well, my belly button is well and truly out, but it never really went back in. I am only 5ft1in, and my back aches, but I put it down to poor posture and having to carry DS around all day - he goes through stages of reverting and wanting to be picked up. I went for a swim today and I think that helped - although arms are a bit sore, DH away for two days, and then we are off on holiday for 2wks - Cornwall I'm afraid, so fingers crossed the weather improves - although I have 4 books waiting to be read and a jumper to knit to pass the time!

I think a meet-up before we pop, so to speak, would be lovely.

geogteach · 20/07/2004 10:58

If I haven't said so already i've finished work now, gloat, gloat! I'd love to meet up, in September i'll only have one child on Monday's and none on Tuesdays not sure I can face London with both of them. On the back ache front I'd advise everyone to find an osteopath ( or My pschopath as DH calls her)I've not really had a problem in pregnancy but breast feeding is a killer on the back - I know thats not what you want to hear but I fear the time is coming close to start facing the facts!

beansprout · 20/07/2004 11:03

Belly button straining at the seams here, but will keep the plaster thing in mind. Perhaps if I get a plaster that is about 5 feet big it could cover up the other unsightly stuff too?!

Would really love to meet up in September. I finish work on the 10th and to meet up with some of you meece makes me feel a whole lot better already. Am beginning to feel a bit daunted by the prospect of all these changes... am relieved to know they still make Matey though, I LOVED that stuff. Good luck with that one Toots

Bibiboo · 20/07/2004 11:05

How do I find a good osteopath, rahter than just looking through yellow pages and are they pricey?

Bibiboo · 20/07/2004 11:13

I've found a local one advertised, but before I ring them and sound silly asking them to "make my back feel nicer", what do they do? Is it manipulation or massage and I'm assuming they have to be properly qualified to treat pg meeses? What should I be asking them? Am clueless!

Anyone know if I can have an indian head massage at 6 months pg? We've got a therapist coming to work soon but you have to book in advance, so can't really ask her on the day...anyone know?
