Does anyone want to come and play here? There's loads of space!

I'm getting 6 months full pay and then I'm back full time after that. I can take up to a year, but 6 months with only 1 wage would be too hard for us to cope with. Should count myself lucky I've got that much, and hope baby will be well adjusted and used to "socialising" by the time he/she goes to school (which will be with DH anyway) if it's not at home with me all day.

It's playing on my mind that the chances are I'm going to miss the first word, first step etc and MIL will get all the glory, but I can't let guilt get me down, right?

Bibiboo · 15/07/2004 13:34

Also, to add to consitpation conversation - I've not had any, which I am putting down to my vegetarian diet. I'm not suggesting you all give up meat, but things like veggie mince in a chilli can help a non-veggie "go" IYKWIM!! Take it easy at first though in case it has adverse effects!
This may be proved totally wrong by a constipated veggie out there though

Bibiboo · 15/07/2004 13:39

Me again! I seem to be having thoughts as soona s I've posted...

Anyone else got a tickly, numbish patch on their belly? I've got one at the top, just under my left boob - it tickles from the inside, but when I scratch it, the skin feels numb on the outside. Is this just mega pg paranoia? DH thinks baby's got a lot of hair and that's tickling me - sweet thought.

Allyco · 15/07/2004 15:40

Allyco is back just seen this thread. Am not too well at the monent seeing as my tumour growing quickly (ooh err). Plan is to get as far as I can then they will take back back in and put me back on morphine to settle me then see how it goes. Worst case being moprphine doesn't work and I will then be induced or if not well enough they'll go straight to section. Don't like this anymore. Don/t want to be grown up. anyway enough of me me me how are all you? I need cheering up xxx

beansprout · 15/07/2004 16:54

FWIW I am veggie too, so lots of fruit, veg and water for me (not to mention daily Bran Flakes!) and, fingers crossed, so far, so good.
I'm sort of assuming that will change at some point and am just thankful for my daily reprieve!!

From what I know about these things, Solgar vits etc are top quality stuff, so wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Hi Allyco, good to hear from you. So sorry to hear that this is so complex for you, it must be a such a difficult time with such a mixture of emotions. I just hope you are ok and are getting all the support you need. Big Bean hug to you. We are all here xx

Hi - Hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. I´ve spent the last 2 days stripping wallpaper and am completely exhausted. Just wanted to let you know that Allyco has posted on the old thread just so that you don´t miss her message.

piglit · 16/07/2004 09:16

I've been lucky on the constipation front too so far. I have a juicer thing and juice up loads of Tesco value apples and pears every couple of days. If you're feeling bunged up then one large glass of that and you know about it a couple of hours later.....

I had a nasty fall yesterday and have managed to twist my ankle, bruise my knee and take the skin off my shin and hands. Luckily I had a m/w appointment yesterday anyway so she checked db out and everything is ok. I have a rather fetching tubigrip on my leg and can't walk properly and spent most of yesterday in tears having given myself a huge shock. I seem to have lost my sense of balance completely.

I hope everyone is ok and has a good relaxing weekend.

Toots · 16/07/2004 10:16

Piglit, that's awful. Not surprised you were in tears all day. PLEASE treat yourself with extra tlc all weekend. I really think it takes a good while to get over a shock like that in our condish.

Am upping my fruit and and veg as feeling sluggish and want to join Bean, bibi and co in the non-slug camp (yeurrghhh).

DP's bro and his pg missus came round the other night, forgive me girls, for I have smugged. She is jolly big and two/three weeks behind me. I felt like a whippet. Aren't I awful? Although it could have been her top - white and a bit clingy -think I'm quite good at creating an illusion of compactness after a lifetime dressing to disguise a big tummy.

Have really enjoyed the two days I've spent with dd this week. She has been excellent company. It has to be said she will brook no talk of baby brothers and sisters, but that's fine. Two and three quarters and in denial, still, who can blame her.

Bibiboo · 16/07/2004 10:16

Awww Piglit, that sounds awful - are you feeling okay? I had a fall (a lot smaller than yours) a few weeks ago and it shook me up for days. Take it easy and get loads of rest, Dr Bibi says:

Take yourself home immediately if you?re not already there.
Increase chocolate intake to 2 bars an hour.
Supplement with hot beverage of choice until symptoms subside.
To heighten effects and speed recovery, do all of the above while watching films with gorgeous men in them (personal choice).

Take care x

Bibiboo · 16/07/2004 10:19

Toots,

Being smug is acceptable in pg, I'm sure it's in a book somewhere

Good luck with the veg - try branston pickle with everything if you get sick of veg, works a treat. Am I lowering the tone again? hahaha

beansprout · 16/07/2004 10:40

Ouch Piglit!! You poor thing - take care of yourself today, and that's an order. Glad everything with db is ok.

A bit grim at this end as dsd may need to be sectioned. This could end very badly. Poor dp is having an incredibly difficult time. Bless that man.

When are you back Turtle? Sorry the weather has been so pants for you - hope you had a nice time anyway.

beansprout · 16/07/2004 10:48

Toots - smug away my friend. I was at yoga yesterday with a 21 weeker who was, and I think the medical term is, bloody enormous. I felt like the leedle pixie I know I really am.

Lol Bibi - with original chunky bits or new, smoother sarnie bits? Is that a whole portion? Tone not lowered here my friend - wait until we get a few weeks further along. Talk of pickles will be positively highbrow!!

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 16/07/2004 11:16

Any kind of branston will do, chunky or smooth, choose your weapon and let the battle commence! hahaha. I am counting myself v lucky that I've been okay in that dept as I'm not sure I or DH could cope with piles, but it's a bit early to be counting my chickens, so i'm going to shut up.

Glad you feel like an ickle pixie Bean, I have to find myself some larger pg ladies to associate with so I feel tiny too. The only pg friend I've got is moaning because she's nearly 9.5st at 5.5 months pg - FFS! I've not been 9st since I was about 16 but am CERTAIN I will become slinky, petite, but big bossomed goddess after Boo is born. (There should be a "kidding myself" emoticon here)

beansprout · 16/07/2004 12:34

Bibi, I suspect you ARE a slinky, big bosomed goddess. Oh yes.
I look waif like of course, just the small problem of a few stone distracting you all from my true self. Of course, am getting to the age that if I did lose weight, would look more like a haggard heroin addict than a slinky elf.

Question - at my 20w scan the official line was "f**k, that child is a whopper!" but do we get any further estimates? I have seen other threads with predicted baby weights on them - is there an estimate later on?

OP posts:
Bibiboo · 16/07/2004 14:45

Very kind of you to say so Bean, but really I'm not. I was pre-pg size 14 and only a short ar$e at 5ft1. The big bossomed bit is about right though.
There were times pre-pg when I dieted and longed for the boy-boobed chest, willowy limbs and an extra 8 inches in height, but have now accepted this will never happen, and the best I can hope for if I put in some serious post-baby exercise is a sort of Martine McCutcheon figure (at her best not worst). Still, she's a pretty lady, so that's not too bad I guess.
Can you tell I'm feeling a bit chubby today? Colleague spotted a pic on my desk of me and Dh when he was still dboyf about 2 years ago and she had to look v closely to tell it was me. I have gone from a 10/12 to a 14 since we moved in together, but I didn't think the change was that dramatic!

off now to huff and puff my way round the building pretending to be busy, so I don't feel so lardy.

geogteach · 16/07/2004 16:34

Hoorah finished work today, now I can be a lady who lunches! Also been to midwife who took blood saying 'you were aneamic last time weren't you' not trying to tempt fate or anything then! I do not want the dreaded iron tablets thank you. Fraid to say in my previous experience the piles come after the birth. as for size of baby, I did have later scans last time (for prob that turned out not to exist) and they are notoriously unreliable for predicting weight. Both of my previous ones have supposedly been average size according to the scans and come out one just below and one just above 9 pounds!

beansprout · 16/07/2004 16:40

Yay!! Geogteach, you lady of leezure you!!

Is it routine for the medics to play "guess the weight"? Or shall I just people at work to run a book? Naturally "enormous" will be favourite - everyone loves to say how huge I am! No wonder women in late preg just went away and hid in "confinement" for the last stretch!

piglit · 17/07/2004 14:30

Allyco - we have all been thinking of you. Please let us know how it goes. Are they still talking about inducing at 30-ish weeks?

florenceuk · 17/07/2004 16:50

Hope everyone had a good weekend - how are all the bumps? Allyco, sorry to hear things aren't going so well. How many weeks will it be if you go for the section/induction? All the best and keep us informed.

sooz31 · 17/07/2004 17:15

Hi all.

Allyco, been thinking about you especially in light of events in our family... my SIL waters broke last week and she was only 34/35 weeks, with the result that they delivered by C/S a beautiful little girl. She was a shade under 5lbs and both are doing really well, considering.

I know it's pretty different circumstances from yours, but babies are so well equipped by 30 weeks, it's amazing.

Toots · 17/07/2004 19:14

Just to say Allyco, I've been thinking about you loads. Sooz' message is encouraging. I wish you comfort and peace.

miffy2 · 17/07/2004 19:35

Hi everyone,
Allyco, thinking of you hoping that all goes well for you. It puts things like pelvic pain into perspective for me.

Potty training going OK, my wee man is such a dote, with his 'my want to do wee wee', followed by a huge grin when he knows he has done the business! Several accidents of course, to be expected, and thank goodness for bulk packs of 'slips' (!) for little boys. Oh yeah, the tumble dryer packed in and had to be repaired last week too.

Other than that, I reach 6-month mark on Wednesday, hurray, only 3 and a bit to go....

Got out the old knitting needles and patterns last week, and got some lovely new wool to knit cardies for the one in the tum. It is a lovely watching-TV hobby, keeps the hands out of the biscuit tin, and no-one really notices the several mistakes and cr*ppy button-holes when the cardy is covering a pink newborn! I recommend it to you all.

beansprout · 17/07/2004 20:04

Sooz - congrats on your new neice and I hope everyone in the family is ok. Funnily enough, I was asked last week if I have been knitting. My mum used to knit for England. I don't think I could make anything useful but could still be therapeutic?

Afraid it's difficult here at the mo. Dsd (see Friday's post) OD'd on Friday and although now medically ok, seems to be breaking down again. We are getting hateful phone calls in the middle of the night (back to not sleeping then!!) and dp is at his wits end. Very difficult (understatement). I dread to think how it will be in October, and I really don't want to dread October. As wise people say... day at a time.

Thank God for good friends and meece I say!
