I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Deaddoorpost The race is on!! Last time my little girl got far too comfortable and was overdue by 8 days so I reckon you might win!

DeadDoorpost · 15/05/2017 16:42

pippanippa my husband was 3 weeks late (all his siblings were late except the twins but they were induced) So the baby could take after him 😂😂

Lemondrop09 · 15/05/2017 16:52

Oh no Satsooma Sad Yeah, Holly scared the life out of me too! I haven't been since I took the bisacodyl on Thurs/Fri last week so I'm going to take one tonight. Hope you manage to go soon. Maybe ask your GP about suppositories or get someone to buy them for you from the chemist?

Lemondrop09 · 15/05/2017 16:54

I'm feeling very nauseous today, although I don't think I'll be sick. I've actually put bloody sea bands on as I'm really trying to stick to just one ondansetron in the morning. I don't want to increase the dose again as I've been ok for the last few days. Not that cutting down has helped my constipation in the way I'd hoped (or at all!).

mrsb87 · 15/05/2017 17:13

Afternoon all!
Guys I'm so sorry to hear about the constipation problems, I am tonnes more aware because of poor Holly's experience :-( anyone know of anything I can do to prevent it?
I've been taking 2×4mg Ondansatron/day since first being sick on Wednesday and I'm happy to report I've only been sick twice since! I'm feeling a lot more positive about this pregnancy so far :-)

Hollyhop17 · 15/05/2017 17:22

Guys, please dont leave it long before you try and get interventions. The bisacodyl suppositories have been the only thing thay worked eventually.

Dont forget that leaving it for a week landed me in hospital and the most pain I've been in. If its been a couple of days I would definitely go to your GP for something else.

It really was the ondansetron for me, as since I've stopped taking it and managed to 'have a clear out' I havent had a problem going since. Of course, I am sick everyday now...

LucindaE · 15/05/2017 18:03

Lemondrop09 I think the PC ate my comment - do give us the link for your post for Hyperemesis Awareness Day.

Would also love to read it Lemondrop.

Quick question: After a bad couple of days I now have horrible constant stomach ache from all the dry heaves. Anyone else get this and found anything to ease it?

Hollyhop17 · 15/05/2017 18:42

Yeah, I'd like to read it to Lemon.

Sorry Pippa, I dont have any good suggestions. I found the dry heaving also gave me tummy aches. I heave less now I am physically sick more.

LucindaE · 15/05/2017 18:49

pippasnippa It's warm weather for it, but an old fashioned hot water bottle, or one of those ones you can heat in a microwave really helps.

Day 4 of worsening nausea, I'm not classing myself as having HG yet as I haven't vomited at all up to now, had one wretch today but it's just the nausea for the moment which is increasing by the day. I've never taken pre emptive meds in my previous 4 pregnancies so I'm putting all my hope in it helping me get by on a somewhat normal life - a girl can dream Confused

So cute my dp told me it's HG awareness day today and he has been researching on the internet for ways he can help Smile it feels good to have someone that wants to understand rather than just become annoyed at my lack of cleaning as my previous dp didAngry

I am still reckoning my vomiting will start Wednesday - maybe I should have put a wager on it Grin

Does anyone else's HG disappear by 16 weeks? I am really lucky in that sense - I don't think I could do it all the way through like some of you do Star

BeautifulLiar · 15/05/2017 19:15

flossy is this baby no 5 for you too?
Touch wood mine has also previously gone by about 14 ish weeks. Seems so bloody far away now but I'm trying to take it day by day

flossyfloss · 15/05/2017 19:23

Hi beautiful - yes it is Smile

I forgot to say - I got "gingered" for the first time today Envy by a close friend too!

Lemondrop09 · 15/05/2017 19:27

I'm not sure how I can share it on here as I posted it to my personal Facebook page. I'd rather not link my MN username with my RL name as I've posted some quite personal stuff on here without nanechanging.... I'd love to be able to share it with you all though so if anyone has any bright ideas to get around this???

peaceloveandbiscuits · 15/05/2017 19:33

Pippa cold yoghurt if you can stomach it.

satsoooma · 15/05/2017 20:13

Pippa I second the hot water bottle suggestion. I use mine so much that I'm considering getting one of those jumpers with a big front pocket just so I can carry my hot water bottle around in the pouch.

HaichM · 15/05/2017 21:08

Flossy: my vomiting went at 16 weeks and the nausea turned mild. Food aversions started improving. Bad aftertaste not disappeared though. I have pregnancy vertigo as well this time and that has not altered at all throughout and sometimes sets the nausea off Sad.

Made it in to work today but wished I hadn't for most of the day. I blame the people who told me and dh/gave us the impression that work can put you on mat leave early so now we're terrified of taking a day off... I survived the day but it was hard. Tomorrow is just a morning so hoping I can cope and then nap until I pick DS up from school. Oh, and the lady said she'd sort my meds. Hoping DH will pick them up for me tomorrow...

Lemon, could you maybe screenshot the post from your phone?

Oklahoma · 15/05/2017 21:16

Haich if you are off work sick (due to pregnancy related illness) in the month before your due date they can put you on mat leave but not before that.

Mustang27 · 15/05/2017 21:21

Hi haich not to further scare you but my work (large financial firm) made me go on maternity sooner. It was mostly guilting me into it as I'm pretty sure they couldn't have made me but getting signed off all the time and having to phone in to "touch base" with them was stressing me so it was a relief once I did it. Oh then I never went back Grin.

Having an awful day I really thought I'd hit a good un with the stemetil cyclizine combo but today proved me wrong. I had some of my other halfs chips for tea tonight bad move. I will not eat chips for the rest of this pregnancy, it was like lumpy wall paper paste due to the lack of fluids.

Anybody found anything that helps with the constant Nasty taste in your mouth due to the vomiting?

BubbleAndSquark · 15/05/2017 21:40

Has anyone got advice how to reduce saliva? Sad I feel awful and it's making the nausea so much worse, was sick 17 times yesterday and admitted for 24 hours, had iv ondansetron and 4 bags of fluids then discharged. My throat was bleeding so im not sure if the saliva is from that or from not being dehydrated atm.

I've got tablet form ondansetron and cyclizine, and buccal prochlorperazine, been on since 7 weeks am 13 now but its still unbearable at the moment, has anyone got any tips at all? I seem to be tolerating potato based things better than anything else at the moment and being in the bath helps a bit, and I'm also stopping breastfeeding since being admitted as I can see that adding to the amount of times I get dehydrated but just wondering if there's anything thats helped other people that I've not thought of yet?
Sorry if this isn't the clearest post feeling pretty fuzzy headed. Xx

Mustang27 · 15/05/2017 22:09

Oh god bubble that's awful. I can't help with your question unfortunately but sending you hugs.

Hope quitting the bf is easy enough, what age is your wee one?

BubbleAndSquark · 15/05/2017 22:48

Shes 8 and a half months but was born at 28 weeks and has had quite a rough time medically including meningitis at 5 months old so I am feeling quite bad about stopping.
Her having breastmilk sort of felt like a way to make up for her missing so much of the pregnancy, but luckily she doesn't seem to mind at all having the formula which makes it a lot easier.

Melleebacca · 15/05/2017 23:59

Bubble - it's quite tough, but potato based diets tend to be the way to go (at least for me). And baths were a life saver in my first pregnancy. Pretty much just eat or drink whatever works best and sticks. Rest constantly. Take the meds and check for ketones to keep on top of the dehydration. It will get better, eventually.

HaichM · 16/05/2017 08:04

Mustang: that's what we were told and I'm now 29 weeks so from now they can do it.

Just been sick for the first time in 13 week and it was a bile run. No way I'm getting the bus in 10 minutes. Hoping work will let me work from home rather than getting a later bus. Of course, my anxiety is trying to kick in about what being sick now might mean but I'm going to do my best to ignore it. Back in bed and hoping this was a one off due to the cold

HaichM · 16/05/2017 08:31

Bubble: I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. It probably doesn't help if I say you may be through the worst bit. Lying down a lot was the main thing that helped me but it was still a very miserable time. Jealous you can eat potato based things - I couldn't for weeks into the 2nd trimester. I lived on little bits of soup and cereal and tinned peaches then peach yogurt and clementines but still not in huge quantities.

Manager told me i had to come in or take it as a sick day and as I'd just brought up bile for the 2nd time in half an hr I went with sick day but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't force myself in as it's only 2-3 hours work today and it's my 3rd day off in the 4 weeks I've been back properly. I've said sick day now though
