I'm good thank you. Baby Hugo is such a chilled baby! As yet! How are you doing Raffles?x

MrsCrabtree · 10/08/2017 18:49

Well done Fraggle, maybe it's cos you're such a chilled mummy! Easter Smile

FraggleRock77 · 10/08/2017 20:03

Think it's just luck MrsCrab!!x

Bear2014 · 10/08/2017 20:22

Congratulations ladies!!!! Love the names and wow Bear what a big boy! And a handsome one at that! Hope you're both recovering well xxx

Bear2014 · 13/08/2017 09:51

Raffles and Mrscrab hopefully you're on the home straight now and you'll look back on these last days/weeks and laugh! It is really no joke being that pregnant. A lot of babies don't engage at all til birth so you really could go at any time

Hope all other babies and mummies doing ok!

We really had such a good experience this time around. On elective day we weren't kept waiting for long and everyone was v friendly and reassuring. They found it tricky to get my spinal in, partly as my bump was so huge I couldn't really position myself right. It worked though and the op was straightforward. Everyone chatted throughout, we had Magic FM playing and when he came out no one could believe the size of him! I had amazing care on postnatal, loads of specialist breastfeeding help as he was hard to hold being so big, and everyone wanted to see and hold the giant baby! Really relieved and happy to have him home and he's a v good boy so far.

Congratulations bear
He's super cute. Did his size come as a shock?
Out of interest did you have any growth scans? I can't remember but then most days I don't know my name currently!

Hope your settling in ok at home raffles

Not long to go now for everyone else.

My section experience was much like bears. I keep saying to people how lovely it was and get some strange looks! It was very relaxed and I could ask what I wanted as get straight answers. Ds cried when he was delivered but I'm not sure he's cried since Grin he's a very chilled baby. Recovery seems to be going well for me. I went home the next day and I went for a walk the following day. I found moving around helped so much and stopped all pain killers just after a week. I had some paracetamol yesterday because a long walk round town meant I started to hurt.

I've got another week with DP home then it's just me and 2 children, I am terrified! DD gets cabin fever easily and not being able to drive isn't going to help the situation (the health visitor said I can get permission from the doctor and therefore the insurance company will allow me to drive, does anyone know if this is true?). I am going to write her a big list of things she can do. I'm sure she forgets she has a room full of toys!

DP has managed to get bank holiday weekend off so if I can find a cheap break we may disappear for a few days, chances of finding anything short notice is slim though.

Xxx

Hanging in here Bear (though it is the middle of the night so sleep not going well - catching up on work a bit though to try and make the most of it)! Think my bump has "dropped" a bit, or something, because I'm a little bit more comfortable. (Trying out a new positive attitude). I have the midwife tomorrow and consultant on Friday so fingers crossed all goes well.

So glad that you both had such lovely positive experiences, Bear and Mistletoe. While I am sure for all of us experience is very much secondary to outcome, it is lovely to hear that you can have both!

Glad babies are settling in well, and good luck to all of those adjusting to life with 2.

Hope you're going OK MrsCrab.

Bear2014 · 14/08/2017 10:36

Mistletoe thanks! Glad you had such a goid experience too. I'm sure you'll cope fine with both kiddies and get the sign off to drive. It's a daunting thought though isn't it. I'm going to have 2 solo days with both throughout my mat leave and it's hard to imagine how it will work but other people seem to do it Confused

We did have a growth scan at 36 weeks, estimated birth weight as 9lb 3 so yes it came as a shock!

Raffles - bump dropping is a good sign, at least you're a bit more comfortable anyway. I didn't get a lot of sleep last night either but definitely don't miss that huge bump. Not long now 👍

So glad it's going well with the bubbas!

Raffles sounds like good news about bump dropping! I'm just feeling massive with no signs of anything and the next few weeks are starting to look veeeerrry long!

RafflesMaidenSister · 15/08/2017 11:58

MrsCrab - I'm not sure it's dropping in the sense of "engaging" (indeed midwife said very much it wasn't) - think my muscles have just given up Grin. It is great that I can breathe a bit better, though, so I'm just taking that. I am now taking the approach of not thinking about it as much as I can! It does still seem a long way to go though, doesn't it.

Bear - yes I think I have to accept one way or another decent night's sleep is now out of the question for some time.

Hope all babies and Mum's are doing well.

RafflesMaidenSister · 15/08/2017 11:59

Mums! Sorry! I am not illiterate, promise.

mistletoeprickles · 15/08/2017 17:56

bear your growth scan is one of many proving there a load of bollocks. I had one two weeks before ds was born and his weight was supposedly 8lb 1oz so they predicted a birth weight of 9lb! The dinky 7lb 5oz that appeared was a bit of a surprise.

He's now just over 2 weeks and is back to his birth weight despite a small loss. He's not being weighed again until next week.

mrscrabb don't worry too much about not being engaged. DD didn't engage until I was in labour with her. I was a little bit over but not induction over.

raffles I truly believe the lack of sleep is the bodies way of getting ready for what's coming. We've been really lucky and we've had 3 rough nights, the rest have just been feeding every 2.5/3 hours. We've got into a pattern now where I do the 3am ish one and DP does the early morning one which allows me to sleep a bit longer.
I think I'm now functioning on around 5 hours a night and a little nap in the day although I'll be saying goodbye to those when DP goes back to work next week!

bear how are you finding having two? There's quite a bit of jealousy in our house but DD was the only one for such a long time I think she's finding the sharing a bit tough. She's actually getting more quality time now but that's not easy to explain.

lolly lovely to see you popping in. I hope your feeling better and the babies are well.
Xxx

Bear2014 · 15/08/2017 20:22

Mistletoe DD's growth scan was bang on, she measured 8lb4 at 37 weeks and was born 9lb3 at 39+4. I did feel enormous this time and baby felt like the hulk, so at least I wasn't imagining it 😆

We're actually back in hospital for phototherapy, hopefully not too long. Exactly the same happened with DD; they are so alike.

Had 3 nights at home and DD has been adorable with him but she is too little to pick him up etc and we keep having to remind her to be gentle so she's getting a bit narky about that. And she wants to sleep in our bed all together next to his snuzpod so we've had a few stand offs there. I think no matter what the age gap there will be challenges.

Hope everyone else is ok!

OP posts:
RafflesMaidenSister · 16/08/2017 02:20

Besar, hope all goes well with the phototherapy and it's not too serious.

Glad you're getting on alright with the sleepless nights, Mistletoe. I'm hoping I'll be OK when we get to it!

MrsCrab, how're you feeling? Hope all going well.

MrsCrabtree · 16/08/2017 05:51

I'm not sleeping well either! And I am gettting a bit sick of being in pain Confused but then I do remind myself how long I wanted to feel these things and that does help. I keep waking up with period-like pains during the nights so I don't know if that's a good sign or pretty meaningless. I'm still convinced I will be late but I am hoping for spontaneous labour at some point. I will just keep really vigilant about movements and probably ask for a sweep before 41 weeks.

How did it go with your consultant Raffles? Do you have a date?

Sounds so lovely but challenging having the two children mistletoe and bear! Glad you're both managing ok. Hope the phototherapy goes well x

FraggleRock77 · 16/08/2017 13:11

Thinking of you MrsCrab and Raffles. You must be so fed up! I would still only be 38 weeks! So glad i went early. I hope you're getting lots of TLC from everyone. Good luck as well Bear. Hugo need to be under the light for 24 hours but he hated the mask and i had to hold him! Luckily he's a good feeder and drank it out in the end x

RafflesMaidenSister · 17/08/2017 10:27

Hope everyone's getting on OK, c-section recoveries are going well and babies and Mums are getting some sleep.

MrsCrab, heard period pains can be a sign of early labour so maybe you will not be too much longer/have already gone?! Don't forget to let us know when you do! Glad you have a plan you're happy with for if you do go over.

I just saw the midwife on Monday - so no date/plan yet - but she was very helpful and supportive re induction, which was confidence-boosting. Seeing the consultant tomorrow to discuss and for a cervical exam so hopefully will have a clearer plan. On the plus side Fig is wiggling away like nobody's business which is also helpful.

MrsCrabtree · 17/08/2017 11:22

Yay for Fig wriggling and glad you feel supported by the midwife Raffles. Fingers crossed for tomorrow with the consultant. I've had no more pains, and I am totally convinced I'll go at least a week over. All my NCT group seem to be having theirs early which is frustrating!! Don't worry I won't forget to let you all know, same to you Raffles!

RafflesMaidenSister · 18/08/2017 18:27

I have a date! Being induced 24 August. In the interim the midwife has recommended lots of sex Grin

In the end it was low stress to get it sorted - I saw the consultant who is "my" consultant and he was perfectly happy with the approach of induction before 40 weeks (which as he was one of the people who originally suggested it is probably unsurprising).

MrsCrabtree · 18/08/2017 20:46

Great news Raffles! How exciting, baby here next week!! Well done for getting what you wanted. You must be delighted and excited.

Im feeling a bit rubbish. Every single person in my NCT has had their baby early and it's making me worried that something will go wrong if/when I go late. But equally I don't really want to be induced unless it's unavoidable. I'm going to just have to tolerate the anxiety I think and be very vigilant and hope for the best. It feels like I will never have a baby though...

Hope all you mums are still doing well! X

RafflesMaidenSister · 19/08/2017 10:58

I have relaxed a bit tbf Grin!

Sorry you're feeling rubbish and worrying - it sucks (also, extra frustrating that all your NCT babies have been born - I would feel exactly the same way even though I would be sitting there telling myself there's no point in comparing). The whole process is worrying and then you just get a bit extra at the end. The absolute risk even if you do go over looks to remain very low, so it is still highly unlikely anything will go wrong, particularly when you are being so vigilant about any signs of a problem.

Totally understand not wanting an induction - I imagine it's going to be really unpleasant (and they give you 60 hours to find out whether or not it's failed before they do anything else, so next week may be slightly optimistic for arrival date if we go all the way to the wire).

Isn't your due date next week? Even if you go over you are so close and will have your lovely baby soon. Can't wait to hear all about him/her. Hope you're managing with the discomfort OK. We really nearly are there. Fingers crossed for spontaneous labour for both of us over the weekend. xxx

MrsCrabtree · 20/08/2017 09:37

Thanks raffles. Yes EDD is on Tuesday... praying for spontaneous labour for both of us! Would help if family and friends didn't keep messaging me asking if it looks like baby is coming soon... Angry Really didn't expect it to be so emotionally difficult at the end like this, thought I'd just breeze through! LOL. I am just going to have to try to keep myself distracted. Hope you have plans to keep you going until Thursday xx

RafflesMaidenSister · 20/08/2017 10:32

Thanks - have just had two cases come back on appeal so sorting them will keep me going!

Do you have plans for the next couple of days?

MrsCrabtree · 20/08/2017 11:35

I can see how work would be helpful right now! I've got a midwife appt and seeing a friend briefly for a coffee, but nothing after due date. I'm going to have to organise some stuff I think...
