Hello!
Any one else received their first BFP this month!? I am 4+5. Due November 10 and would love to talk to some other first time mummies as every twinge and niggle sends me into panic at the moment!! I'm sure I'm not the only one...

Well done Misty glad you survived it! And even tho you had to tell a couple of people I'm sure the relief that it's done is making you feel better.
I'm still really anxious about the hen do, I'll have no hubby to drink my drinks are we are staying over in the centre of Liverpool for two nights. Plus cocktail making class! I'm going to have to go down the antibiotic route I think!
Plus, woke up this morning to the overwhelming feeling of sickness: I hope this isn't the start!
Ps I'm pretty sure the cheesecake and coleslaw were very safe to eat and gave you some calcium! Grin

MistyBxx · 12/03/2017 07:50

Word of warning oneof it wasn't as easy as it sounds! I've got to be honest, I wish I had used a not drinking plan rather than a fake drinking plan lol 😂 I thought I could pull it off but it was so hard!
If I had found out I was pg before the hen do, I wouldn't have gone. The girl is lovely, but not one of my closest bestest friends, but I had no idea, went, and literally got smashed 🎉 🍹 😩
Hubs (who is a chef) seems to think that it's illegal to make home made mayo in a commercial kitchen so thinks the coleslaw will be fine and I googled ricotta and mascarpone which are alternatives to Philadelphia in cheesecake (it was a posh venue, it didn't taste like Philadelphia lol) and it said they are fine as long as pasteurised and again surely they don't serve unpasteurised stuff 😳

I'm going to put in the ground work about Wednesday...

  1. faking an emergency dentist appt...
  2. then 'oh no my wisdom tooth is infected!'...
  3. then I've been put on flagyl so can't drink but will still come.

She'll be happy I'm still attending and I'll give her all my cocktails. She's a close friend and I feel I can't not go. The wedding is in a couple of weeks tho so the challenge begins again then.

MistyBxx · 12/03/2017 08:24

Oh that's a much better plan than mine! I feel terrible, all the girls from the hen do looked at me stupid as I was leaving and even the bride was like "what you're going now??" It was barely 10 o'clock lol I mumbled some excuse about eating and drinking too much and feeling a bit dodgy, but she looked shocked and I just can't wait for a few more weeks when I can tell people and it will all make sense lol xx

oneofthose · 12/03/2017 08:49

Don't feel bad, they will all completely understand and be over the moon for you in a few weeks! Grin

sophr2017 · 12/03/2017 08:58

Oh Misty, sorry for you but that does sound funny! I had to claim I was on antibiotics last night as was due at a charity wine and cheese evening, when I can't drink wine and probably wouldn't have been able to eat most of the cheese Grin I have gone into hibernation now trying desperately to avoid people as I'm awful at not telling people and have now already blabbed to a few friends and family!! Luckily I've had the scan so feel slightly more comfortable saying but even still!

Sounds like a perfect plan for the hen do, love the groundwork idea, the things we have to do!!

Screamifuwant2gofaster · 12/03/2017 08:59

Hi. Can I join please? I'm 3 weeks and 5 days. Ivf pregnancy. Excited and terrified of anything going wrong.

sophr2017 · 12/03/2017 09:00

Congrats Scream Smile!!

DarcyParty · 12/03/2017 09:15

Aw congrats scream! You must be so chuffed :) Flowers

Well my cramps have subsided mostly, though my boobs seem to have gotten bigger already! For the first time in my life I have cleavage haha. Boyfriend says they feel a bit former too- anyone else have this?

DarcyParty · 12/03/2017 09:16

*firmer oops

mrsjkerry · 12/03/2017 09:36

Darcy my cramps and back ache have also subsided. Haven't felt any twinges in a while too...apparently it's normal to feel nothing at 5 weeks but can't help worrying!

Welcome scream. IVF babies usually have earlier scans don't they...

Misty I'm glad you survived the wedding! I bet you're relieved it's over.

Oneofthose your plan is very similar to mine for the hen do I've got next weekend. I've already planted the seed that I'm not feeling well (I'm thinking UTI as symptoms include frequent urination and nausea). My best friend will be watching me like a hawk, although she doesn't know we've been trying we've been married 9 months and she'll be expecting it so I'm dreading going.

Scream congratulations and welcome to the thread.

Moo31 · 12/03/2017 10:23

@scream - congratulations! Grin

@Misty - so glad you survived the wedding, like @oneof said in a few weeks when you tell them they'll all be delighted and the bride won't mind that you snuck off early! Good work on the fake rose ;)

@oneof I love your plan ;)

@soph it is so hard to keep it from people isn't it! I spent yesterday with my mum and found myself going to say things a few times and then having to catch myself on! We've agreed we'll announce to our mum's on mothers day (which will be after our booking app) - we're doing a joint mothers day lunch with both sets of parents and our sisters.

I've also decided that if m/w doesn't check for the heartbeat on 21st we will book in for the private scan between 22nd and 25th before we announce.

Has anyone told their mum? I thought I would tell mine as soon as I found out but oh has made me promise not too and my mum isn't very good at acting surprised when she already knows the surprise so I'm thinking it would be obvious if I told her early! Hate keeping it from her though!

sophr2017 · 12/03/2017 10:33

I told my mum and sister as soon as I found out! No way I could not tell them, plus they've been great support wise and helping me keep the secret! I'm a mummy's girl still (at 30 😬) and when I've felt awful from morning sickness I've needed to call her, not sure what I'd have done if she didn't know!

Jessiecat27 · 12/03/2017 10:34

I think I'll be telling my mum next week, not had an appointment yet but oh has already told his nan and a friend because he's so excited, I would of rather confirmed it first but it's too late now haha Hmm

oneofthose · 12/03/2017 10:44

I've had the same idea as you moo I'm going to tell my mum on Mother's Day. I'd love to tell her today as we're spending the day together but I thought waiting a little won't hurt and she'll have a nice surprise then! Going to make her afternoon tea Smile

Anyone else feel like they are wishing the time away already. I'm terrible for it normally (teaching makes you like that - X many weeks until half term etc) but I'm doing it even more so now! Just want to be in a more 'safe' week Confused

MistyBxx · 12/03/2017 10:55

Hubs told his mum before I told mine! But in his defence, she lives in Scotland (us in wales) and he has no family round here so he needed that instant family support across the miles, bless him. My family are close so I popped to my parents thinking hmmm may not tell them just yet but just chatting away normal and I wasn't quite with it, my mum was like "are you ok love?" And I just had to tell her! They loved it and jumped up to hug me 😍 she understands how early it is but I'm also a mummy's girl (at 32 lol) and I needed her to know 🙈
But it's totally each to their own. Mother's Day surprise sounds lovely 😊
I am defo wishing time to move... I'm 5+3 today and I can't believe I've only known I'm pregnant for 8 days... feels like a lifetime already! I'm defo booking an early scan soon x

orangedahlia31 · 12/03/2017 11:02

Hey guys - big congrats. I'm also a first-timer and I should be due 8th November. But I've just posted a freak-out over a bleed following sex last week!
I still feel the same I felt beforehand though - bloody exhausted and lots of tiny sensations and tightness in my uterus.
No morning sickness yet(!) just one random wave of nausea a day.

Hopefully the bleed will turn out to be a random thing and not a miscarriage and I can stay tuned into your journeys along with mine! Good luck all.

(Ps was anyone as OTT as me and did like 5 pregnancy tests...?!)

Tonks87 · 12/03/2017 11:05

We told my mum and dad and DH's dad last weekend. I'm really close to my mum too so wanted her to know straight away.

I like that we're bump buddies Misty - I'm 5+3 too Smile. We got our BFP 9/10 dpo so I feel like we've known ages, but time is going so slowly.

We've booked 'a reassurance scan' at 8 weeks. It's only £45 so is really reasonable.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Jessiecat27 · 12/03/2017 11:06

Orange I did three! Thought my first was an evap so I did the other one from the pack which I got two lines again, thought they were duds. Bought another test and got my third bfp, that pretty much convinced me!

Jessiecat27 · 12/03/2017 11:22

Tonks where is your scan? That seems cheap! I've read most places are around £90 but I feel that's too steep!

MistyBxx · 12/03/2017 11:51

I'm struggling to find anywhere that offers the scans around me! There's one place in Cardiff which is over an hour away from me that costs £50 which is a great price but they're not doctors, they're sonographers. I'm googling "private healthcare" and "private ultrasound" etc and all the medical centres around where I live are all cosmetic surgeons, dentists and osteopaths, rather than general GPs so it's proving difficult! £50 is a good price but I will pay a third of that again in fuel getting there and back lol x

oneofthose · 12/03/2017 11:53

Orange I've done probably close to 10 test all in all. I did 3 first off to make sure my eyes weren't lying to me!

sophr2017 · 12/03/2017 11:53

I paid £85 for my scan and thought that was reasonable!

I took 3 clear blue tests, the ones that tell you how many weeks pregnant you are, just so I could check I was getting 'more pregnant'!!

Does anyone else feel like it still really isn't real/happening? I'm hoping my MW app tomorrow will make it all kick in a bit more, as it all seems a bit surreal!

mrsjkerry · 12/03/2017 12:06

Soph I feel like it isn't real because I don't feel pregnant or even any different. Maybe at first I felt a bit pregnant, but now it's been over a week and the initial excitement has calmed down I feel a bit different and not pregnant at all. Maybe I was expecting symptoms? I don't know...
