Thank you for all the good wishes everyone - scan went well and official due date is now 15th September! Likely to be week before though as my second son was EMCS and my first was a very long and eventually assisted delivery so will be asking for a planned section this time if at all possible!

Still not feeling real!

jpeg28 · 06/03/2017 16:50

Congrats popcorn! So pleased for you! Xx

knorrig · 06/03/2017 16:51

Very happy for you popcorn

SayItIsntSo1 · 06/03/2017 16:54

Congratulations Popcorn!

littlepooch · 06/03/2017 17:02

Wonderful news popcorn! No health and safety issues knorrig I do a very boring office job and work from home most of the time!

Alb1 · 06/03/2017 17:52

Great news popcorn and congratulations dole

The medication hasn't worked so I've been admitted while they try another drug which is quite depressing as I just want to go home and cuddle DH and DS, but it's obviously so worth it to try and help the baby, fingers crossed it works!

XxBecxX · 06/03/2017 17:56

Congrats popcorn xx

Oh alb 😢, your in the best place to be right now, just keep telling yourself that hunny xxx

Congrats popcorn! Great news!

Jpeg I've been watching Good wife too hahaha!

Alb so sorry to hear that, you are defo in the best place. Will be thinking and praying for you. Keep us posted if you feel up to it.

So I've been booked in for a c section at 39 weeks because the baby is still
Breech. Unlikely to rotate now as fluid is a little low and baby measuring big. C section carries extra risks for me because of previous abdominal surgery - risk of injury to neighbouring organs, and infection ( I don't have a spleen and take two types of antibiotics to prevent infection as I've had resistant infections / sepsis in the past). If I went into labour naturally they would do an emergency c section. If by some miracle it turned , then they would try natural. My worry is the more time passes the bigger it gets and how will I manage with a natural labour?? They've already said there is a slight higher chance of if it resulting in emergency c section anyway. Trying not to think about it all, just pray that either I get to 39 weeks and go in for planned section or that baby turns quickly and I have a natural labour ASAP.

Thanks for setting up the new thread Bec Smile I am both excited and terrified to see my name on the list of upcoming due dates!

Alb - it's good that your hospital are on top of this. I hope you can find reassurance in that Flowers

My baby had a sleepy day yesterday so we ended up on a CTG monitor last night and scan today. Of course the baby was perfectly feisty in kicking the scan probe away today. The hospital were lovely about it and very encouraging to always call about reduced movement. I'm shattered this evening after the worry!

30+4 here

jpeg28 · 06/03/2017 18:23

Alb really sorry the medicine hasn't worked. Like bec said you're in the right place. Fingers crossed this next medication works.

purple sorry you've got all this uncertainty... must be hard with the previous abdominal surgery. Fingers x you make it to 39 weeks. That's not long now!!

Well done for going in newshoes and glad all was ok. I've been in once and I put it off for a day or two and of course everything was fine but it made me realise how nice they are and how we should go in whenever we just feel something isn't right.

I'm at a meeting all day tomorrow which I can't wait for... I can sit down!!

XxBecxX · 06/03/2017 19:12

Arrr purple I'm gutted for you about the c-section, please don't worry about the size issue if you where to go naturally as bigger babies are actually easier to birth than smaller ones, gravity and their weight help them descend, honestly i promise you, obviously there are a couple of little snags with them being larger like they can get caught shoulder wise but I'm only 5ft5 & I've birthed a 10lb 1 baby and although his shoulders got stuck for a moment he delivered himself in the end lol

Why do you have to wait til 39 weeks? Why can't they take you in at 38? At least that way the risk of you going into spontaneous labour is somewhat lessened and the less stressful the whole thing the better in my opinion.

I've delivered at 37/38/39 and had good sizes.

Alb sorry the meds didn't work, but glad you're in the best place and there are other options.

Purple I can understand why you're concerned. Hopefully you can get to 39 weeks and all goes to plan.

Smurf hope you're ok if you're reading.

llemma · 06/03/2017 20:05

Little pooch, it sounds odd to me that you'd have to tell them before the legal deadline which is 15 weeks before you expected week of childbirth, have you got a union or something you can ask? Or if you wanted to PM the policy wording i'd be happy to look at it for you.

I'm trying to leave telling work as long as possible too but only have 3 outfits where my belly isn't really obvious!

What's everyone's views on dopplers? I'm 17 +3 now and anxiety is getting to me, not sure i can wait until 20 week scan!

Smurf123 · 06/03/2017 20:05

Thanks sayit I'm ok, coping as best as I can right now. I keep coming back on to read how everyone else is doing.
Unfortunately we didn't get the news we wanted today but I hope that I can be back joining you all on here again soon in a few months time.
Good luck to everyone with upcoming scans or those who are nearly there at the end!!

purpleviolet1 · 06/03/2017 20:13

Smurf i am so sorry Flowers be kind to yourself and let it out, don't bottle it up. After two consecutive mcs I never thought I'd be here but here I am. And it's number 1.

Thanks for the support girls. Xxbec, they said that 39 weeks was safer for the baby and for me but tbh I think it's just their policy and they don't like to budge. Got the feeling I got fobbed off....38 weeks would be better. Thanks for the reassurance about pushing out big baby lol. I'm 5ft 3 and quite petite, usually size 8/10. The thought of third degree tears really worry me Confused

jpeg28 · 06/03/2017 20:14

smurf I'm so sorry. Look after yourself. And I hope we see you on here again soon. Sending lots of hugs Flowers

Alb1 · 06/03/2017 20:46

So sorry smurf Flowers

Thanks everyone, they think this next medication will work so that's something. Baby is moving around quite happily this evening, probably enjoying me sitting still for a change Smile

SayItIsntSo1 · 06/03/2017 20:55

I'm so sorry Smurf. Be kind to yourself and I hope we see you on here again very soon.

Popcorn1979 · 06/03/2017 20:58

Smurf - I am so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself and I really
Hope we see you back here soon x

littlepooch · 06/03/2017 21:37

smurf I am so sorry. Thinking of you. alb hope the new meds work and you manage to get some rest. Fingers crossed for you. ilemma thank you! I'll see if can screen shot the policy. I haven't got a doppler, I've need tempted but worry that I'd not use it properly and causing myself more stress!

purpleviolet1 · 06/03/2017 22:13

I used a Doppler between 14-18 weeks until I started feeling movement and then weaned off it. It helped me loads as I had spotting from 9-15 weeks , with a red bleed at 12 weeks. I promised I wouldn't stress myself over not finding a heartbeat and there were a few times I couldn't and so I put it away and tried again later x

INeedNewShoes · 06/03/2017 22:47

Smurf - sorry that this has happened. Look after yourself Flowers

llemma - my view on dopplers is that you should only get one if you can trust yourself to use it sensibly like purple describes. I have slightly obsessive tendencies so a doppler would not have been a good idea for me! Having said that, you're so close to being at the point that you start feeling movement that soon you'll have daily reassurance that all is well anyway.

purple - have you looked at the 'Spinning babies' website? I have no idea whether there's anything in it, but it could be worth a try? My baby spends all its time resolutely head up and my plan is to start doing the exercises to encourage it to turn if it hasn't done so on its own by my 32-week scan.

XxBecxX · 07/03/2017 01:18

Oh smurf so sorry for you xx

Lemma- with regards to dopplers I purchased one at about 10wks for reassurance and I'm so glad I did.
Pregnancy no10 for me, baby no.6, and I used it every few days to a week, until I felt movement, which turned out for me, I have my placenta located up front so that hindered me feeling baby up until 23 ish weeks, so it was great for me.
I bought mine from Amazon and tried like I said every few days from the 10wk mark and finally found him at about 12wks clearly, then it was easy to check him as he was generally easy to find in the same area.

I had a ventouse delivery with my 1st purple and had a small tear, 2 stitches, (8lb 5). normal delivery with no.2, 2 stitches (8lb 10) and despite his size absolutely intact with no.3 (10lb 1) so there's no rhyme or reason to it really.
Also my stitches, TMI where not on the outer of my Minnie, they where on the inside of the canal near the opening of that makes sense 😳

Maybe next time you go strongly voice your wishes for 38 and see how you go.
My 1st consultant said 38wks then my 2nd consultant said 39 and I was like no 38 and he literally said 38 or 39 really doesn't bother me either way lol
He was the diabetes consultant.

Alb when will you know of the new meds are working xx

With regards to baby positioning, try to get into the doggy position as much as you can and rock/sway your hips, maybe as your watching the tv of a night time, this gives him the most available room and if you can do it at a slight forward incline aswell it will encourage him round, baby no.4 spent a lot of her time transverse then breech right upto 36wks and then I finally managed to get her to spin just before my consultant app!
