I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Melleebacca Missed that too - symapathy over that. Surprising that the supermarket was so busy on a Sunday. I'm sure you don't look awful. Back when I was young - a very long time ago in the eighties - it wasn't cool to brush your hair. You finger combed it to keep the waves in and squirted it with mousse. So you can just tell people that you are copying the eighties look.

Hello from Pink Castle!!!!! Grin

Thank you for all the lovely thoughts and sorry for being slow. Birth was fine. Didn't start to get contractions until about 7.30pm so there was a lot of waiting around, but we were allowed out for lunches/walks so it wasn't too annoying. And then once they got going they went straight to 2-3 minutes apart, and baby boy arrived at 10.30pm so it really was pretty quick after that! If you'd told me at 8pm we would be at Pink Castle before midnight I never would have believed it!

So that was Friday night. Haven't had much sleep since then but all good and managed a long nap today so feeling human again. Still a little bit of nausea yesterday but very weak. Today no nausea, still a bit of nasty mouth taste but the speed things are improving I reckon that will be gone in the next few days. Honestly the nicest thing (apart from lack of nausea) is not even having to think about food at all. I'm really looking forward to all the things I haven't been allowed or couldn't face, but also to actually feeling hungry at some point. Weird how much you can miss that!

Thank you so much for all your support. I was far from the worst case but this thread was still a life line, I am so grateful. I have tried to attach a picture of our littlest squidge. I know it feels unbearably slow getting there an hour or a day at a time but Pink Castle is out there waiting. Hang on there!!

Awwww light. He's scrummy. What was his weight

You got induced didn't you? So quite a quick labour 💙💙💙

MotherofPearl · 05/03/2017 19:02

Just popping on to say huge congratulations to Light! What a beautiful prize after all the HG misery. Enjoy basking in the lovely early newborn days. x
Waves to Lucinda, Blondes and everyone. Smile

LightTripper · 05/03/2017 19:08

Moraelin just to agree with the others saying do try to get preemptive meds. This is actually the official advice from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists now (published last year and many GPS won't be aware yet). It may help to take a copy to your GP if you can. Link below and it's at pages 16-17. Very clear advice and the reference to the underlying research studies (Canadian I think).

www.rcog.org.uk/en/guidelines-research-services/guidelines/gtg69/

If they aren't helpful do try the PSS helpline as they should be able to out you in touch with a more helpful doctor!

SleepymrsE · 05/03/2017 19:12

Big congratulations light! What a gorgeous little boy. Enjoy all those wonderful newborn snuggles.

Next up... blondes. I'll be sat in the background cheering you on from the pink castle.

Quick wave to mop - hope you & yours are all doing well.

LightTripper · 05/03/2017 19:13

Thanks Blondes and MoP!

Yes I was induced. Had some gel at 11 which didn't do much, and then more at about 6 which really got things going! Much quicker than my previous induction. Much more intense this time and just gas and air (had an epidural last time) but actually the bits I was scared about (crowning!) weren't as bad as I thought, and it was all done so quickly that the intensity was manageable.

So I still stand by my claim that I'd rather do 10 labours than another pregnancy!! Probably more!

Moraelin · 05/03/2017 19:44

Hi ladies, thanks for all the advice. I haven't had too bad a day today but I'll be ringing the doctors first thing. I'm hoping my treatment will be a little better this time, last time it was locum doctors and there was no continuity and no real knowledge.

Should I try the first line meds again even though they didn't work last time?

Congratulations LightTripper your little boy is beautiful x

Melleebacca · 05/03/2017 20:01

LightTripper - congrats! He is gorgeous. As you catch up on sleep the nausea should reside. So happy to see you in the pink castle. 😊

Lucinda - I have to attend a wedding this weekend, so somehow have to figure out how to tame the mane on my head. It's pretty wild. If it wasn't my brother in laws wedding, I would not be going.

Moraelin - if first line didn't work last time, it probably won't work again. I was given metachlorpromide last time first off and it only worked for 3 days, so I didn't even bother this time around. Especially with a toddler. Easier to parent nauseous on a sofa than with head in toilet. Good luck!

Melleebacca · 05/03/2017 20:03

LightTripper - that's an intensely fast labour. Could probably handle that.

CastleFeck · 05/03/2017 20:19

Huge congratulations Light tripper. You did it! Xx

fourcorneredcircle · 05/03/2017 20:28

Congratulations to lighttripper on the safe arrival of littlestlight. I too hope the rest of the nausea clears quickly.

Blondes you're up...

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2017 20:49

im top of the list - pink castle I am cooooooooming

💓👶🏼💓👶🏼💓👶🏼💓

LightTripper · 05/03/2017 22:24

Fingers crossed Blondes!! So excited you are next.

LucindaE · 06/03/2017 09:22

Indeed lucinda let's hope no one beats me .....

Off to mw for usual check up. Bubs is kicking madly

Def having hormone surge as sick fri night. Sat am. Sat night. Last night

Grrrrrrr

Waves to all. Hope all ok

HaichM · 06/03/2017 12:44

Congrats Light. Glad labour was quick and HG easing at last.

Blondes: sorry about the vomiting. Hope today is better and mw appt goes better.

Mental health midwife much better in person. Going to see her again next week. She recommended that I ring HR and find out my situ is in their eyes so I'm prepared. She thinks they may try and push me to have early maternity though DH says it's too early for that. Going to get him to read through the policy tonight for me.

Mellee: that is so true about nausea and pain. My pelvic and back issues seem to have got worse already so who knows what O will be like in another 5 weeks. Feel like I'm trying to juggle too many balls of worry and anxiety atm.

Melleebacca · 06/03/2017 18:16

Blondes - could it be lack of stomach space making you sicker? Good luck with midwife.

Haich - try baths with Epsom salts if you can. It doesn't relieve the pain for ever, but it does for the time in the bath. 5 weeks is an outrageous wait time, any way of complaining and getting it bought forward?

Surviving here. 16w today. Gotta book anatomy scan soon which is a small amount of joy.

Moraelin · 06/03/2017 19:06

Hi ladies, thanks for all the advice. I called the dr's first thing but could only get an appointment with the nurse practitioner. She refused to prescribe me anything and said I had to see the GP. The next appointment was weds.... so I complained at the front desk and they got me an appointment for 2 hours later. The lovely dr has given me metaclopromide so I'm feeling a bit happier.

Just need to hang in until 12 weeks now!

LucindaE · 06/03/2017 20:52

Morealin I am glad you insisted on meds - meto has helped many. If it dosesn't seem to be doing any good after a couple of days, don't hesitate to ask for something else, or additional meds.
HaichM It is unfair you have so many worries; stress does make Hyperemesis worse. I hope you get a break from them very soon in one way or another.
Blondes It's not fair. Unfortunately, for some it does come back at the end, but never as badly as in the first tri. It's still very hard to bear, though.

Melleebacca Epsom salts is a good idea! I hope the scan cheers you.
Congratulations on sixteen weeks. How are you feeling?
PC b eing super slow; I'd better sign off...

LucindaE I forgot to say thanks for listing all the foods. I'd forgotten that tinned peaches were one of the few things I could tolerate in the bad days. Of course this morning I don't feel any symptoms so I've convinced myself that it's all over and I'm facing a 3rd miscarriage, even though there's no evidence of it. This pregnancy lark is just a nightmare.

I hope everyone is ok and getting through the day x

LucindaE · 07/03/2017 10:12

Morealin
My goodness, three mc's is traumatic! And I felt sorry enough for myself after one. Well, I know now that I had several very early ones, but that isn't the same at all. Because of that, are they giving you extra reassurance scans? It is very hard not to be on tenterhooks if the symptoms seem to recede even after one. Of course, after three miscarriages the chances are still massively on your side - I think I saw it quoted at 85 per cent? I am glad that the peaches suggestion jogged a memory - they can be a life saver.

LucindaE · 07/03/2017 10:14

Morealin Sorry, I've just seen my mistake, and it's two miscarriages. I think that makes the odds ninety per cent on your side, then? Hugs.

mumofthreegirls3 · 07/03/2017 10:31

Hi all,

I'm new and begrudgingly joining you all in the "journey" that is hyperemesis. I'm now over 13 weeks and have been struggling for nearly 6 weeks. I also have hypothyroidism and as a result of the sickness have been unable to keep any of my medication down. I'm now having stemetil shots done at the hospital daily after having tried nearly all of the medication I've seen suggested, and yet the injections have only made me slightly better. Getting discouraged about this all now. I had hoped the injections would make me better. Has anyone else found the injections didn't work very well? Are there any other options? My employers are becoming less and less patient and I have two toddler girls already to look after so I will do almost anything for relief.

Fluteytootey · 07/03/2017 10:32

Hi everyone
Congratulations light. My DD is 26 October so AGES to go.
Feeling slightly better today. I'm off work (I work with my family so no sick note required) and on reduced hours for the next few weeks. Hoping I can manage that. I've got acupuncture this afternoon and plenty of childcare so feeling a bit more positive about it all.
Sending lots of positive thought to anyone suffering today, especially Moraelin.
I saw something about taking b vitamins...has that helped anyone?
