I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Oooo Light congratulations. He is so scrummy! And your induction story is very encouraging. I have just been told they will likely induce me at 36/37 weeks for my heart condition. But my 1st induction was horrendous, and I was very worried about the possibility of having to do that again. But yours sounds like it went jive and quickly.
I hope all of the nasty tastes and nausea disappear quickly for you. Well done on reaching that illusive pink castle. :)

Blondes yay to being top of the list! Not long now at all for you really. I hope you get a smooth few weeks on the run up.

Sorry for the relative silence from me. I have been wrapped up in my daughter being unwell and went off line for a bit.

Waving to everyone, and saying hi to all the new people. I'll be back later when I have had a chance to catch up properly. Xx

MrsK8541 · 07/03/2017 14:21

Can I join? Sad I've been lurking for a few weeks but haven't posted anything.
I'm 12+4 and have been existing in a world of sick since about 5 weeks. I'm on cyclizine and in my fuzzy brain thought I still had a strip of tablets left ... I was wrong!!!! Doctor has said she can't prescribe my next lot until tomorrow Blush Having a horrendous few days now thanks to my incompetence and off work ... again.
Reading this thread has made the struggle a little more manageable, so thank you ladies!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/03/2017 14:43

Shirley. Hope dd ok

Mrs k. What a creep doctor. I have spares if you would like me to send you some

Primaryteach87 · 07/03/2017 14:50

Hello all, I was a lurker here during my last pregnancy. I almost didn't have a second child due to how ill I was with my first. Thanks to incredible support from my DH, mum and nursery for my eldest I survived and now have the most gorgeous baby. I just wanted to add a bit of hope that you will get through this even though right now you might be doubting whether you should have got pregnant or even feeling like you want to die just so it can be over. Sending strength & love! PS medication is a godsend. Keep trying until you find one that helps.

MrsK8541 · 07/03/2017 15:35

Thank you blondes. I have just phoned the doctors again and kicked off ... Now have an appointment at 4:40. I think I have another UTI making sickness worse. Can't keep hydrated enough to help prevent them though so it's a viscious cycle.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/03/2017 16:02

THATs not good :(

Try ice lollies , melon , tinned fruit or jelly

Chicken cuppa soup I could manage

Melleebacca · 07/03/2017 17:29

Flutey - b vitamins are meant to help settle the stomach, so you can give them a go. I unfortunately can't manage them and throw up Vit B tablets the fastest out of anything. I tried acupuncture in my first pregnancy, found it relaxing but ultimately decided it didn't help with the sickness. I think Lucinda has tried it too.

Mumof3 - sorry to hear you're suffering. In my experience, the only things that helped are ondansetron and bedrest. I'm 16w now and trying to build my strength up again.

MrsK - I hope the meds get everything back under control quickly. I find the GP only gives me a month of meds, while the midwife understands I'm on them most likely till the end.

Blondes - top of the list! And ivf babes like to come early, so I hope there's not too much more of a wait for you.

Shirley - I hope things are improving with your little one. It's just horrid having a sick child. Thinking of you.

Lucinda - 16w and coping. Bring up acid randomly if I burp or move when the nausea is at its worst. No vomiting for almost a week. Accidentally took my meds an hour late yesterday due to a tantruming toddler and got so much worse really quickly, so I know they're still required. Might wean down to one tab a day at 20w.

Waves to everyone, fingers crossed for an ok day all around.

mumofthreegirls3 · 07/03/2017 19:12

Thanks Melle , I've tried ondansetron and it didn't do anything for me. Never realised how just being sick and feeling nauseous could be so debilitating. Hats off to all the other ladies here, especially those who have done this more than once!

LucindaE · 07/03/2017 19:17

Welcome to mumofthreegirls and mrsK1841.
mumofthreegirls That sounds awful. Can they give you anything else to add or take via injection? I haven't known anyone else who had injections, so I wish I could advise you, but I can't, so it might be worth phoning up Pregnancy Sickness Support on 024 76384 2020. They will phone you back with good advice. Take heart, almost nobody suffers as much as in the first tri. Have you got kesostix to test for dehydration?
mrsK1841 Welcome. I do hope you've got the meds now? If you've been lurking I'm sure you don't need my usual speel about the various liquids that might help - Blondes suggested some - and 'have you got kesostix'?
PrimaryTeacher87 Thank you for the encouraging message. I am so glad the thread helped you.
Fluteytootey I was really helped by acupunture - to an extent that is unusual -and I hope it really helps you. I gather it can depend on the most ludicrously minute measurement between a needle getting the right place and just missing it, and I think my acupuncurist was either brilliant or I was lucky. I think it helps a lot of people a bit, and some, unfortunately, like Melleebacca not at all. I am glad you've got lots of childcare available. It's so tough when women have to struggle with toddlers by themselves all day. I'll add you to the queue to get into the 'Pink Castle' at the end of the dreadful Hyperemesis journey.
IAmSeriousAndDon'tCallMeShirley I am sorry it is such a worry for you about DD. How is she? I didn't know that you had a heart condition. About a horrible indiuction experience, snap! Sad. I hope this one is much better for you.
Melleebacca Glad you've had no vomiting for a week. I never knew that about ivf babies being early. Why would that be?
Waves to Blondes Great advice from you and Melleebacca as ever.

Thank you for being so welcoming. In my fuzzy head I forgot to even ask about the meds! What is wrong with me!! The doctor argued with me about my due date because my tummy looks big for 12 weeks. She then felt it and said 'oh, just fat'.
Don't have any kesostix. I obviously haven't been doing a very good job at lurking as I have no idea what they are!
I hope everyone is having a good day as far is possible!

Fluteytootey · 07/03/2017 19:54

mrsK - Ketostix are little strips that you test your urine with the check for ketone levels. In my area they admit for rehydration if you're 2+ or more... I've only been in once thankfully.

Melleebacca · 07/03/2017 19:55

Lucinda - it's got to do with knowing the exact moment of fertilization and placentas of ivf babes tend to deteriorate if they go overdue, so most ivf babes come early or are induced on their due date. That's my understanding from friends who have gone through it. 😊

jenpatnim · 07/03/2017 20:03

Hello all. I was on this board twice with 2 ds. Just wanted to check in, say hi to Lucinda and wish you all safe journeys. Even if you're boking during delivery like I was (twice) it does get better.

HaichM · 07/03/2017 20:40

Hi all and hi to the newcomers. I hope you find and get meds sorted soon. I second the tinned peaches - they got me through my worst bit.

Mellee: yay to no vomit for a week. I hope it may continue.

My meeting at work went well. All those scaremongers stressed me out for no reason. They don't want me back if I'm not fit. They're happy that I clearly want to come back to work but they defo want me to not faint or get migraines or get worse at work and not cope, and nothing bad will happen if I keep sending in sick notes, so I'll be sending another one in soon. Both manager and HR person were really nice and supportive so worry all gone.

Oh, and I actually got some decent sleep last night, minus waking up now and then for toothache (wisdom tooth coming through I think) but I didn't lie awake all night. Feel almost human today.

Wishes everyone a good night and a good day tomorrow

fourcorneredcircle · 07/03/2017 21:01

Hello all, welcome to the newcomers, pull up a bucket.

Glad your HR meeting went well H - now you can relax and focus on getting well or at least getting through one day at a time
Smile

Attended hospital today for an appointment with a consultant. I've had so many letters through about pregnancy appointments I didn't read it properly and just showed up as directed... turned out it was at the fertility clinic (it took us a loooooooong time to get pregnant). The consultant was... surprised by my shape and was hedging around the question he clearly wanted to ask ("are you pregnant?"!) and because I hadn't realised I was at the fertility clinic (run in same dept and rooms as antenatal stuff) I didn't put him out of his misery... ohhhh how we laughed when we figured it out though. Grin

Mammabear13 · 08/03/2017 07:22

Phew! Just been catching up - seems like loads has happened the last few days and a flurry of new faces - hi

Lights gorgeous and so encouraging for hanging in there. Well done for making it through, hope the sickness has faded Flowers

Flutey I think it was you who asked about Vitamin B tablets. I got them from the GP as they were willing to prescribe them to reduce nausea (unlike other anti sickness meds I wanted) at first I didn't feel like they were helping, found they had a funny taste and came back up quickly. However now I feel like they make some of a difference and I do have better periods of nausea free time where I am able to get some fluids down (food still hit and miss). I started them at 8 weeks and am now 13(+6) so I don't know whether it has just taken a while to get them in the system and to settle down a bit - definitely thankful for the fluid relief but response to them may be different for everyone

Haich so glad for your meeting Smile and the support you absolutely deserve. I hope you're able to relax a bit now

Four your tale of the fertility clinic made me chuckle Smile

Lucinda Next time would you add me to the pink castle queue please? The 7th September. Thanks!

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 08/03/2017 16:29

Hi every one. Sorry I haven't been around at all for a few days.

Firstly congratulations on the gorgeous baby, he's such a cutie.

Unfortunately, I lost my baby yesterday, I'm ok, I mean... I'm not but you know.

Thank you so much to everyone that offered advice and support, you really helped me through some super dark days.

All the best to every one on here, thanks again x Blah Flowers

Fluteytootey · 08/03/2017 17:17

blah I'm so sorry for your loss. I haven't been on here long but know how much you've been suffering. Sometimes the world seems incredibly cruel xx

MrsK8541 · 08/03/2017 17:37

blah I haven't been here long but I have been reading for the last few weeks. I am so so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself Flowers

LucindaE · 08/03/2017 17:40

BlahBlahBlah My goodness, I am so sorry. That is really a savage twist of fate. You will want to mourn and not make plans for more for some while; besides, it seems to me you have been treated with an insensitivity by the medical profession on a par with twenty years ago. Do feel free to PM me if you want to talk about miscarriage as I had one myself - but I am not expert, and I believe there are support threads who have much more up to date knowledge than I do.

Thanks every one, it means a lot. And thanks so much LucindaE and I'm so sorry you've been through this too Flowers

LightTripper · 08/03/2017 18:28

I am so sorry for your loss Blah Flowers
There is something about sickness that even makes pregnancy more real and losses even worse, if such a thing is possible. I hope the sickness passes soon and you are being offered proper support. Especially after everything you have been through it's an unbelievably cruel thing to happen xx

HaichM · 08/03/2017 19:12

Blah: I'm so sorry to hear that. My sympathies poor as they are to your family Flowers

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2017 20:26

blah I'm so so sorry for your loss. You have suffered lots over the last few weeks and this is so unfair

Big squeezy hugs 😘💐 xx

Moraelin · 08/03/2017 20:53
