I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Melleebacca I hope the depression isn't too bad. Sorry about bad dreams. I never knew that about drinking fluids preventing water retention.
Kiia Never worry about tmi on here. A lot swear by the jelly supppositories they sell in boots (but again, like over the counter cyclizine you must hide your pregnant or get someone else to get them, though they use them in matrernity wards).
Blondes Your poor ankles. The toes do look pretty.I forgot to say Grin about your earlier joke about 'the launching strip'! I like it...
IAmSerious Waiting is so dismal; you are very brave about it.
Hollyhop Thank you. That is another daft remark from your GP to add to the list!
Waves to MagnumAddict Blah Castlefeck LightTripeper and everyone...

I drink tons of water. TBH the main think I do drink.

Def staying away from maccy d milkshakes

Bubs scared us again yesterday. No movement for about 7:8hrs tho she often is quiet daytime so don't think about it. But usually active 5pm onwards

Anyway she wasn't. Rang triage and when said I was 35w they said come in asap

Took a while to find bubs heart under monitoring as she likes to apparently move - tho not kick as running out of room as she's 6lb +

But once found it then df and we're very relived. Spent about an hour monitored and could hear her move. You know the thump under the Doppler but not kick

Anyway got home after a stressful few hours and bubs is kicking madly away and been active todsy

Triage said come in asap as danger of placenta not working 34w+ plus if comes unattached hence wouldn't be feeding bubs

This baby will be the death of me !!

Roll on next 4:5w when she is here.

Blondes What a scare! I am so glad they took quick action and all was fine. Cyber pats on offer...

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2017 18:58

It's just so hard as never been preg before so not sure what I should and shouldn't be feeling iyswim

And when to worry and not worry

Same with - if I go into labour before they induce me - how will I know for sure ? The water? Plug? Or regular pains

Melleebacca · 24/02/2017 19:18

Blondes - you poor thing. Keep being cautious, so much safer that way! Glad there's nothing wrong but what a day!
Labour pains come and go. Generally early labour pains can be mild but able to be timed. And then they start getting closer together whereas Braxton hicks are random. If water, exercise and foods don't make the pains less frequent then it's looking good. Plug generally isn't lost until 2-3cm dilated. Water breaking is an uncommon starting point and if bubs is running out of room, it won't be a big gush.
Hope that helps, you're doing great. The end is like the beginning, one long tortuous day at a time!

HaichM · 24/02/2017 19:32

Blondes: sorry about the scare but glad all is OK. I had regular braxton hicks which got to 5 mins apart and stayed that way for a few hours a couple of times but I knew I was in labour after some strong backache when i saw my plug in the loo. I quickly learnt that actual labour is not like Braxton hicks at all. I think it varies for diff women though.

Melle: sorry about the diagnosis but at least you're getting support and hope thing improve soon.

I'm beginning to worry I'm developing some sort of pelvic issue or have somehow pulled something down there with all the walking in London.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/02/2017 21:15

Thanks MEL haich and Lucinda

This preg lark is hard work

AmaZED people have more then one child 😂

Or maybe I worry more as taken so long to get preg and petrified something will go wrong

LucindaE · 24/02/2017 21:37

Blondes That is very understandable. I was a terrible worrier after only having one mmc.
HaichM Might it be - unfortunately - a tendency to spd? Women with Hyperemesis are prone to that, I gather. Worth mentioning to the doctor.
Melleebacca and everyone - how are things?

OP posts:
HaichM · 24/02/2017 21:53

Sorry...what's spd? I didn't have issues with anything but the vomiting (HG) and upper back pain - which has also began again but I have a referral in to the physio already

fourcorneredcircle · 24/02/2017 22:00

Blondes that does sound scary, glad all worked out well.

mellee just downloaded that app... thanks.

Psyching myself up for afternoon tea tomorrow with a friend. Am quite prepared to ask to bring all the lovely cakes home and eat them here where no-one will know if I throw them all up ... I've never been great since gall bladder out with cream cakes, cream makes me feel sicky, so hopefully they'll have plenty of sandwiches and scones. It's the only nice hotel in the area and I don't want to be known among the staff as "that one that puked" Grin

HaichM · 24/02/2017 22:23

Just found SPD on mumsnet. That is what this feels like so I'd best get some pillows and see a doc or whatever asap.

Four: good luck and enjoy!

Melleebacca · 24/02/2017 22:48

Haich - I thought I had SPD with my DD, saw the chiro and it turned out that I carry very low and small so my lower back and hips take all the strain. Weekly chiro helped until baby was too big and was pushing back on every adjustment he made. Resting helped get me to the end.
Your midwife/GP should be able to help you figure out if it's SPD or not.

Lucinda - I'm coping. Had a good day yesterday HG wise, but a bad day emotionally, so I'm a bit of a rollercoaster. Hubby is amazing as always. Just one day at a time.

Four - I hope the app helps you. It pinpoints DD unexplainable grouchiness days almost exactly. And helps to see that it won't be like that forever. Although I did have a tough time when DD did a development leap followed by cutting her first 2 teeth and then learning to crawl and then straight back into a development leap. 😴

Blondes - I question the same thing all the time! But not everyone has such a rough time in pregnancy. Last time I was pregnant and due the same day as my SIL, who had no sickness, no pains, and two toddlers to chase around.

LucindaE · 25/02/2017 10:28

HaichM A lot of women on here have had spd, something to do with reaction to hormones making for looser joints than average, or some such thing - sometimes brought on by having to have extended bed rest, but that's a lay person's vague understanding. I do hope you escape it, but definitely ask your doctor or midwife as you say. One good thing - I've heard if you do have it it makes for easy labour. I hope it might be something like Mellebacca's lower back being put out by your internal structure.
Melleebacca I am sorry you are struggling mentally. Cyber hugs/pats on offer,if required.
I was reading a silly and overestimated historical novel where the woman - upper class, needless to say, and so waited on hand and foot - suffered from very mild pregnancy sickness throughout and everyone was terribly admiring over her wonderful stoicism. I stopped reading it - it annoyed me too much when I compared it to what women are suffering on here.
Apologies to anyone rudely overlooked.

Mmmmm well, I enjoyed my sandwiches and scones. Stuck to butter on the scones Wink I have returned home with a custard tart, cream horn and lemon drizzle cake. DH knows the cream horn is his without asking but hasn't helped himself... yet... must be birthday deference ;)

How's everyone else? Quiet on here today, so I hope everyone's had at worst an amber day...

LucindaE · 25/02/2017 18:39

fourcorneredcircle I'd missed that you were going out to tea. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is quiet indeed, but it often is on a Saturday.

MagnumAddict · 25/02/2017 21:05

Amber day here, only sick once in fact but really tired. Had a good day yesterday and think I overdid it a bit.

Four glad you had a nice afternoon tea.

Twinklelittlestar1 · 25/02/2017 21:15

Hi all,

Looks like I'm moving in if that's ok? I'm 7+1 and the awful sickness kicked off about three days ago. I'm on prochlorperazine this time which is new for me and seems to help a lot although I only have twice a day so by the evening Sickness is kicking back in- does anyone know if it's accumulative? I have it with metaclopromide three times a day which helped in my last pregnancy but I'm not sure it's doing that much this time.

I'm finding that the prochlorperazine is helping me eat a little more but mostly I'm stuck in bed feeling pretty lousy. Any ideas for passing the time?

fourcorneredcircle · 25/02/2017 21:40

Hey Twinkle, welcome, pull up a bucket. Haven't tried that drug but I'm sure others will be along soon that have and can help :)

Audible/talking books helped me pass the time when I couldn't face TV/internet and reading. It took me weeks and weeks to get through a book as I kept falling asleep but it felt like a real accomplishment when I did! Grin although, I regret starting with a horrror story... I'd keep waking up in the gory bits and being very scared and disorientated in my dark room!

LightTripper · 25/02/2017 23:16

Welcome twinkle! I am pretty sure I had prochlorperazine in my first pregnancy but it didn't work and I believe that is because (as with most of these drugs) you do have to let them build up in your system. I was just taking on days when I had meetings and stuff like that and it didn't do anything used like that. How long have you been taking it for? May be worth giving it a but longer.

MuvaWifey77 · 25/02/2017 23:24

Hi Twinkle , welcome in !
I have been prescribed prochlorperazine but took myself off of it a couple of days ago as felt it numbed my tongue and my heart beat just went sky high , it felt horribly wrong , the taste going into my stomach made me sick and nauseous sono have stopped.
I had discussed with my doctor the possibility of me not having HG just may be expecting a girl , seems like girls pregnancy are harder and no so smooth at first. I have amazing days , no sickness . Then I have awful days 15-20 times sick a day.
I found out I Can no longer eat anything acidic , no orange juice , no tomatoes or tomato based food etc..

If I'm in bed and want to pass time I read or go through instagram .... takes couple of hours of my day ... or make notes . Plan my wedding , plan holidays .... SmileSmile

Melleebacca · 26/02/2017 07:06

Twinkle - welcome. I agree with four - audiobooks and ebooks until able to handle the movement of tv.

Four - well done on the afternoon tea!

Muva - my mum thought my first was a boy because I was so sick and the only pregnancy she had nausea with was my brother. With that much vomiting I would still say it's HG. Early on the nausea and vomiting slowly ramps up to really bad and then slowly ramps down again.

I managed my nieces first birthday today. Ate a chocolate and literally felt it burning the whole way down. The cake looked amazing but I didn't dare risk it. Next year, for sure.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2017 08:24

@four glad you enjoyed cream tea

@twinkle welcome. I found rest and sleep helped more then anything so in bed would like quiet and still all morning till 1-2pm and snooze and Could cope with the afternoon /evenings better

@mel try a slice and gaviscon

All good here tho waddling very nicely and ankles are def cankles

Oldest friends are throwing me a baby shower today - excited squeak - just hope any cakes /treats don't re appear ......

LightTripper · 26/02/2017 08:44

Have great time today Blondes!

Twinklelittlestar1 · 26/02/2017 10:38

Thanks everyone,

I will look into audiobooks later today as that sounds like a good idea. Does anyone know a good app I can get them from for my phone?

I've been on the prochlorperazine since Friday- I've actually woken feeling less sick today so here's hoping.

Hope everyone is doing ok today x

HaichM · 26/02/2017 16:36

Enjoy Blondes!

Thanks Mellee and Lucinda for the info. I hope to get in to dr/mw asap next week about it and have a telephone consultation with the musklo-skeleton people on Fri, so hopefully it will get sorted soon.

Currently feeling like I'm constantly being kicked in the groin which is not fun but I have managed my first chocolate bar.

Anyone else get really annoyed at being told to 'enjoy the rest' and 'make the most of it' when off work?
