I hope everyone suffering from the Horrors of Hyperemesis will find this thread useful as a source of support and information.
There's no TMI on here - can't be by definition - and nobody should feel ashamed of moaning as much as they feel the need to.

MOH's wonderful website is full of useful information on this illness:
sites.google.com/site/pregnancysicknesssos
Another invaluable website is:
www.pregnancysicknesssupport.org.uk

If you need help in obtaining medication, this phone number is
brilliant:
024 7638 2020

Lastly, the NICE guidelines on treatment are useful:
cks.nice.org.uk/nauseavomiting-in-pregnancy#!scenario

I would like to thank everyone who has given such invaluable support and advice on this and on previous threads.

Remember when you are at your worst, 'This Too Shall Pass'. It really will.
So many women on this thread have thought they couldn't get through this, but they did.

Blondes Five weeks, then at last, after all these years! Exciting!
fourcorneredcircle I am sorry, I forgot to welcome you back. I hope you are less tired now? Lovely to hear from you. Great advice as ever. Sorry to hear of bile runs - and glad cyclizine seems to help things.
BlahBlahBlahEtc As below; do keep us informed. Thinking of you.
Mulberry As below, too...

I know. She will be born 11yrs after we first ttc 💓👶🏼💓

MamaErmintrude · 19/02/2017 21:04

Thank you to all for your reassurance about bonding - really really appreciated and mamab I'm sorry you had it so rough at the start.

Blahblah definitely ask for a second opinion!! My understanding is that they could just hospitalise you for the whole pregnancy if needs be, and (whilst not fun) that would absolutely keep you physically functioning?

I feel so naughty even saying this but I also have leftover anti emetics from 1st trimester and an excess of the one I'm still on. If you're happy to take, I'm happy to post until you can get what you need from the doctors!

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 19/02/2017 21:14

Thanks for your replies, I will ask for a second opinion but the trouble is I have no one at all to look after my toddler if I stayed in hospital so I really can't do that.
Also sorry for the confusion, it's the dating scan, I'm 11 weeks now, not the other one at 20 weeks. I've barely been coping with this and my daughter anyway so with this on top.. either a termination or prolonged hospital stay . I just don't have much choice if he's right.
Sorry for being all 'drama'

MamaErmintrude · 19/02/2017 21:28

blahblah I just asked my best friend who's a Dr and she says: "Whoa, I have never heard anything like that. She should definitely ask for more of an explanation if that's truly what's been said. It sounds utterly mad to me. Is this because of hyperemesis? If so it's utter nonsense. Or has she had a transplant etc? She should get a second opinion." So please be assured that if it's just because of the hyperemesis that they're saying this you should DEFINITELY get another opinion, as they can absolutely keep you well in hospital!

MamaErmintrude · 19/02/2017 21:33

Arrrrgh x-post sorry. I know this will sound extreme, but you could get temporary foster care for her in this situation. I know there's stigma around any SS involvement but it does happen for "good" reasons (if you know what I mean!) - my DH and I have provided short term respite care for this reason (not the same situation as you). It's obviously completely and 100% your choice, I just want you to know there are options so you don't need to feel forced into making any decision you don't want to. Could you have a drip at home, with a community nurse coming to check it daily??

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 19/02/2017 21:38

Thanks so much for all of that, I know it was a x post but still is all very helpful. I'll definitely look into ... all sorts of stuff that's been mentioned. Thanks again, it's nice to hear I have options.

MamaErmintrude · 19/02/2017 21:46

www.citizensadvice.org.uk/family/looking-after-people/children-and-local-authority-care/ look at the section "foster carers" and it mentions exactly your kind of situation. Sending you many hugs and Flowers as you think this through. You have options and you're not alone!

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/02/2017 21:55

@blah. Organ failure really sounds extreme - are you sure they meant this ?

yes some Get very sick with hg but with fluids and hospitized

Could your partner take some time off to have dd - any family or friends ?

Speak to mw and possibly mental health and they could advise you

On the down side I've just been sick. Had a maccy d milkshake and obv bubs didn't like it

Usually only have water and know @lucinda often says milkshake helps. Not with me lol

Melleebacca · 19/02/2017 22:48

Blondes - stink! Choccy milkshakes help me in the second trimester, but I only have one at my safest time (10am). Frozen coke from McDs helps too.

Blah - please look into all the options, I wish I could be there to help. There are daycare options that might work. What meds have they given you?

Just got back from maternity mental health, likely got anxiety issues caused by pregnancy. Will know more next week, but at least I'm getting help.

LucindaE · 20/02/2017 09:56

BlahBlahBlahEtc Thanks for getting back to us. That's great advice about care from MamaErmintrude and Melleebacca and everyone, as below.
I have heard of women who spent three quarters or even all of their pregnancy in hospital. Some women on these threads have been on fluids for weeks and months. That doctor must have given you incomplete advice, as everyone says. Do push for care if necessary - after all, if your religious convictions precluded abortion they would have to make arrangements.
Blondes I have to say those chocolate milkshakes only worked for me later on - but some swear by them, and I didn't try soya. I'm off to decorate the drawbridge of the legendary Pink Castle for you.
Waves to all. Back soon.

Hi all
So sorry for the radio silence, I just wanted to check on how everyone is doing? Its been a crazy couple of weeks and looks like this pregnancy isn't going to be plain sailing so I've had lots going on. I'm happy to say that I'm managing on the Cyclizine, Metoclopramide and Thiamine 2 x a day and only being sick once in the morning. My consultant has advised me to continue until I have a day where I am not sick at all. The GP is still being a d**k though and begrudgingly prescribing 10 days at a time - such a pain!! Sending hugs to you all

MagnumAddict · 20/02/2017 12:28

My ds has noruvirus. Seeing his little body be sick is heartbreaking. I'm hoping it's over soon. Been 24 hours so far.

I'm almost convinced I had it too. I wouldn't have noticed the extra sickness but I'm attributing my feeling of being knocked over by a bus and extreme tiredness at the weekend to it as today I just feel 'normal' by HG standards! Feeling quite relieved as I started to think something was seriously wrong. I hadn't felt so ill since I'd lost so much blood after my section.

Blah- I almost can't comprehend your situation. I look forward to hearing you receiving much more robust advice.

To everyone else hope you have a brighter day.

LucindaE · 20/02/2017 18:37

MagnumAddict Poor LO and poor you. LO will recover quickly, anyway.
Pip1892 Glad that combination helps. I had heard of B12 and B6 being used, and not specifically B1, which is interesting.

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2017 18:41

@magnum. Poor dc :(

@lucinda I'm not over the drawbridge first. @light is and think mama?

LightTripper · 20/02/2017 19:47

You never know Blondes! But if LO doesn't make an appearance before then I'm being induced on 3rd March so the end is well and truly in sight. I can't really properly imagine what feeling 100pc well is like, but I do remember from last time how amazing it feels to be reminded... Oh, this is what it's like to be able to really enjoy food, and not feel nauseous, and be able to take a full language of air, and be able to climb the stairs without needing a sit down, and and and....

Hope those going through the horror stages and the slog are doing OK, and hope that Blah in particular is getting some more complete advice and proper support xxx

LightTripper · 20/02/2017 19:48

Lungful, not language!!

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 20/02/2017 21:38

Evening all,

Sorry to have been quiet this past week. It's looks like it's been a busy one for you ladies. Blah I hope you managed to get some good medical advice in the end. Like others have said, that just doesn't feel right (I'm an NHS worker myself).

HG wise I'm much the same, so relived to not had a snake recently!

Fatigue is still bad, but now on many supplements so hopefully that will help me soon. They don't know if my deficiency is due to HG or Crohn's, I suspect it's a mixture of the two.

On a rather stressful note- I have been in hospital with my daughter today. She's had some rather worrying symptoms and she's now being urgently investigated. No diagnosis yet, but lots of worried looking doctors making me feel quite anxious. I hope it proves to be nothing and she's just worrying us all!

Waving to everyone and hoping you all have good weeks. Xx

fourcorneredcircle · 20/02/2017 22:06

Imserious that does sound stressful, all good thoughts to you and your daughter.

blah I have nothing to add to everyone else's excellent advice. Sounds so, so difficult.

Light blimey, I've just realised how close 3rd March is... "next month" went my brain... then "woah, next week!"

MamaErmintrude · 21/02/2017 00:41

Well ladies I think I'm off to the pink castle as my waters broke a couple of hours ago... The nausea has been ramping up big time since yesterday and I'm pretty sure I'm going to start vomiting soon. It is very very early in the process and I'd therefore love to delay/reduce vomiting as much as possible. Any labour specific tips from anyone?! I also could take another tablet in terms of timing. But is that allowed/advised during labour? It's a gum dissolving one so I wouldn't bring it back up!

Melleebacca · 21/02/2017 03:25

Mama - sorry I didn't see this earlier. Take your meds. I got metachloropromide in the IV in my first labour at the hospital because I threw up there. But I was in active labour at that stage.
My advice - being checked for dilation is the most uncomfortable thing ever, so minimize it if poss. And good luck!

Melleebacca · 21/02/2017 03:28

Oh-don't be worried too much about vomiting in labour, it happens to those without HG. Just focus on keeping your fluids up, and resting when you can. Sleep between contractions if they're far enough apart.
I'm so happy that you're not going to be sick anymore that I might go and hurl for you!

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/02/2017 07:17

@Shirley hope dd is ok

@light the end is soon and totally agree with all you said

Be nice to eat and not sick. Nice to walk up stairs easily. Nice to see my own feet. Nice to not wake up for a wee 5/7 times a night

Bloody brilliant to hold my daughter and be a mummy

@mama Exciting. Hope a quick labour

My news

I get to move to second place 😂

Sick again last night. Exorcist style with dsd 28 cheering me on with me telling him to fuck off

Felt crap yesterday eve and went to bed early. Unlike me

Feel ok today. Then again felt ok Sun and mon am and sick both nights

Is this another hormone surge? 😢

BlahBlahBlahEtc · 21/02/2017 08:35

Thanks every one for every bit of advice.
I mentioned what the 'doctor' said to a resident and apparently it's not the first time he's said that to a hg mother.. he's bein reprimanded and from what I gather he's not far off a final warning.
They've given me some steroids? And some more medication and said I should be fine just doing that every so often but we'll see.
I'm so glad I mentioned it to you guys. Thank you so much!

fourcorneredcircle · 21/02/2017 08:47

Go Mama!!!

All good things to you Smile FlowersStar
