Aw Bear don't beat yourself up. You've just got to do what feels right. Theres no right or wrong. I'm sure you'll learn new ways for baby number two.
How do you think DD will cope being a big sis? xxx

Bear2014 · 11/01/2017 15:50

I'm sure she'll take it in her stride but it will be weird after 3.5 years! She probably thinks she's out of the danger zone, ha ha. We're definitely the types that would just end up with 2 kids in the bed rather than let her feel like she's being pushed out. Might just buy a Super King bed Grin

Mrscrabtree · 11/01/2017 16:04

Hi ladies. Had a horrible scare today. Had terrible cramps and a lot of bright red bleeding just as I got to work. Been in the EPU most of the day but now left. Apparently the baby is still fine, there is a heartbeat and it's measuring ok. But they reckon the bleeding is due to a subchorionic hematoma and might continue for some time. My friend google now tells me that even though some women have this and are fine, overall the research says it significantly increases risk of miscarriage. I'm glad the baby is ok at the moment obviously and I am trying to be positive, but I can't help feeling my days are numbered.

Hope you're all having a better day xx

Bear2014 · 11/01/2017 16:06

Oh no Mrscrab that's terrifying! Rest up and we'll all keep our fingers crossed for you. I do know a few people who had lots of blood and went on to have healthy babies xx

mistletoeprickles · 11/01/2017 16:23

mrscrabb CakeFlowers for you. I hope all is ok.

I'm another one who feels huge but I just to down to taking cyclocest? I have noticed some changes to my lower tummy which I quite like because it reminds me that something is going on

Lolly2803 · 11/01/2017 16:26

Aw Mrs Crab that's awful to have such a scare. Easier said than done but stay away from google - you only ever hear the bad stories on there! If baby is fine and looking good then there's every reason to feel positive. I also know people who had bled a lot during pregnancy and everything has been fine. So hard I know but try and relax and have regular scans if you can if only to help with the anxiety. Thinking of you xxx

Thanks guys xx

Blueroses99 · 11/01/2017 19:58

MrsC I'm sorry you're going through this but the important thing is the baby is fine - heartbeat and growth are both excellent signs. Bleeding is scary I know (I had an episode of unexplained bleeding at 8+4 on holiday in my first pregnancy) but many women have bleeding all the way through and the babies arrive safely.

Mrscrabtree · 11/01/2017 21:42

Thanks blueroses. I hope it will be ok xx

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 09:18

How are you doing today ladies?
MrsCrab how are you holding up? Any idea when your next scan will be? Hope you're ok xxx

RafflesMaidenSister · 12/01/2017 09:31

Hope things are a bit less scary today MrsCrab.

I'm living in abject fear of a missed miscarriage and keep symptom spotting (do my boobs hurt less? Are they smaller?). It's driving me mad. Scan next Wednesday so hanging on until then.

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 09:50

Aw Raffles it's such a scary time the not knowing and wondering. I would try (easier said than done) not read into anything. Is it your viability scan? I've forgotten how far you are. Not too much longer to wait then hopefully you can relax a bit. xx

I'm sitting at the GP with a suspected UTI Blush

I'm also nervous about a consultant appointment I have later on. I need to know how they are going to prevent me having another pre-term birth. The fact that I've been referred to a specialist team is great, but having told me over the phone that they don't think I need a stitch has caused me massive anxiety and stress. So this is the first time I'm meeting them... They don't normally see anyone before second trimester but offered me an earlier appointment at my GPs request.

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 09:55

Aw Blue how annoying!!! Not what you need you poor thing. Argh this stitch situation must be so stressful. When I was having my NIPT test last week the Dr checked my cervix and said all looks fine but to ask the consultants to check it when I go for my scans to keep an eye on it as I'm having twins. She said they don't usually check it so if they won't then they can and if it starts to change they can put a stitch in. Is it not worth just going private to have it done for your own sanity and to stop all the back and forward?!! Once it's done it's done and then you can relax and enjoy your pregnancy? Just a thought as must be causing you so much worry xxxxx

OP posts:
Blueroses99 · 12/01/2017 10:24

I could go private or I could see another consultant that will probably do it. It's just I'm not an expert and I'd be trusting the person who told me that I need the stitch over everyone else. What if he was wrong. What if it means that my ongoing care is compromised. All of this is speculative until I meet the consultant so I can't make any decisions until then.

On the plus side, I don't have a UTI! Think the pessaries are making the whole area a bit sensitive.

RafflesMaidenSister · 12/01/2017 10:30

Good news on the UTI Blue! The pessaries are utterly gross. Fingers crossed for you for later.

Lolly, viability scan was last week, slightly small ( 6 wks at 6 wks and 3 days) but good heart beat. Wanted me back to check how it's going. Don't know if this is normal for my clinic or not (it's private). Trying not to think about it, but it comes and goes.

Hope everyone else is doing OK.

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 10:38

Great news about the UTi Blue! Can you use the cyclogest in the back door? That's how I do it and I don't have any issues at all.

Raffles I wouldn't worry about measuring slightly small at that stage. I went at 7+2 and one was measuring 6+4 and the other 6+3. They said it was so hard to measure as they were curled up. Heartbeats were really strong. Then when I went again they had clearly had a growth spirt or just easier to measure and they were only a day or two behind and both measuring the same! Easier said than done not to worry I know xxx

OP posts:
Blueroses99 · 12/01/2017 10:46

I do use the back door normally but had some rectal bleeding (sorry TMI), so then took them vaginally for a couple of days while that settled down - and now both passages are irritated! I didn't have any trouble with Cyclogest before so don't know what's going on!

Raffles second scans are normal at private clinics. Don't worry about measuring small, it's literally fractions of millimetres at this stage, lots of room for error. I had a scan where it changed by 3 days because the sonographer measured from a different angle!

Bear2014 · 12/01/2017 10:48

Morning ladies! Misscrab really hope you're ok.

Raffles all the waiting around is torture. I'm also convinced every time I go for a scan there will be no heartbeat after my experience last year. It's completely normal but doesn't make it any better. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Blue - it all sounds really frustrating, no wonder it is stressing you out. I'd just advise you to be as assertive as possible, and try to put your case across. If they won't do it, you can get it done privately. What are the implications for your ongoing care if you go against their wishes/go over their heads? Ultimately you need to be happy that you are doing what you can, so if that means a stitch you should get it regardless and deal with everything else as and when.

My strategy of leaving it really late to get in touch with the midwife backfired massively. I self referred this week and they've already given me a booking in appointment for Saturday morning! Didn't even know they did them at the weekend. So there goes my leisurely morning off on Saturday ;o) And I'll still be pre-10 weeks which I was trying to avoid, but hey ho. They obviously wanted to squeeze me in for whatever reason. No word on the scan date though.

Bear2014 · 12/01/2017 10:53

Blue cyclogest really is the fecking worst thing ever. I refuse to use them vaginally as I know that any bleeding would send me into a blind panic. But I'm pretty sure I'm now getting a hemorrhoid Sad

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 11:11

Aw Bear that sounds awful - I know how you hate cyclogest. How long will you be on it do you know?
I had mine before 9 weeks too and I was nervous and kind of not listening / taking it all in as I didn't want to get ahead of myself. Seems they like to do the early though! I guess so you get on the list for the scan? Hope you get your date through soon so you have it to countdown too. xxx

Aw Blue you poor thing! Both doors playing up!! The drugs really are a pain in the backside ;-)

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 12/01/2017 11:17

I'm sure last time I got the letter through with my scan date at the same time that I got the letter through for my booking appointment. But they probably do like to fit you in for whatever reasons. To start taking blood etc.

I'll only be on Cyclogest til 12 weeks, and it's only 2 a day so I'm just being a whimp. I was on it for 3 weeks in July and 3 weeks in September though as well.

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 11:26

Yer I got mine at the same time actually. Everyone reacts to things differently so if you hate it I'm sure there's a reason! I hate the prontogest injections most my back is so sore constantly I can hardly lie down some days. But hopefully I'll start wheening on Sat!! Let's see what my bloods show tomorrow. Here's hoping!! Although I will be a bit nervous as I see them as a bit of a safety net which is weird I know xx

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 12/01/2017 11:30

The injections sound horrid :o( Lots of clinics stop all progesterone even earlier than 12 weeks and some keep it going all the way through. It is just a safety net for sure, I think research is quite conflicting if it even really does anything.

Lolly2803 · 12/01/2017 11:35

Well I'll have 2 cyclogest all the way through so that's something to make me feel safer! Better than the 4 I'm on now but to be honest I've not suffered with that at all - I feel lucky in that respect. I'll be glad to see the back of the patches as well just so by bum looks a bit better!! And also the clexane injections so my stomach looks less like a black and blue pin cushion!! Haha.
I'm such a sight at the moment honestly.
