Sorry, I really don't want to freak anyone out! I went to most of my fertility appointments alone and even an embryo transfer but I would never go to a pregnancy scan alone, just as I would never take DD to one. Have you got a sister/best mate you could take?

Lolly2803 · 07/01/2017 12:44

Bear you're not freaking us out, we know the reality of this process and we are here for support so don't worry about that!
Mrs Crab I wouldn't go alone either to a scan, you never know. But I'm all up for extra scans, if you can afford it then do it!! Anything to ease the anxiety.

Bear only 2 sleeps to go!! xxx

Hmm you're probably right. I'll have a think if there's anyone. Possibly my MIL but then my mum would get jealous (but she lives too far away)... x

Mrscrabtree · 07/01/2017 12:47

Yeah you're not freaking me out Bear, but just making me think it's ok for me to want a scan x

Lolly2803 · 07/01/2017 13:05

Mrs Crab i would have a weekly scan if I could - don't feel bad!! xxx

Bear2014 · 07/01/2017 13:10

It's always ok to want a scan. The 2 NHS scans is the lowest number in the developed world.

Mrscrabtree · 07/01/2017 13:26

Gah DH is now saying let's just wait until the 10 weeks and save the money. It is difficult for me to find someone to go with at 9 weeks so might just have to wait and keep my fingers very tightly crossed x

Lolly2803 · 07/01/2017 13:42

Well keep you company on here Mrs Crab! All this treatment does add up to a LOT. The amount we've paid on drugs post the FET is eye watering!!
They should give us free scans when we've spent over a certain amount!

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 07/01/2017 13:49

Really try not to worry. At least the 10 week scan shortens the gap before the 12 week. I'm sure everything is fine and it's not worth going on your own xx

Mrscrabtree · 07/01/2017 14:54

Thanks guys. It is genuinely so nice to have you all to talk to! And freak out to if necessary! Xxx

Lolly2803 · 07/01/2017 15:18

That's what we are here for! And I agree with Bear about not going on your own. We will try and keep you sane between scans! I think it's too late for me haha!!

We're all here to go out of our minds together xx

Lolly2803 · 07/01/2017 16:24

Random and probably stupid question but can you have a bath in early pregnancy? I love a bath but haven't had one for months as I've been too scared!

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 07/01/2017 17:01

Hi all can I join you?

I've been in a pregnacy thread but I'm so full of aniexty it's ridiculous.

A bit of history, I have a DD who was a surprise conception many moons ago. DP and I have been trying for over 2 years but I have PCOS. During that time I have had clomid.

Concieved on our last round. I have had 2 mc, last one being in August of this year.

I am now 8+5 and had a viability scan at 7+2 where there was a heartbeat.

I'm generally very nervous now (I'm not when I not pregnant) The signs are good but I'm scared. I'm even dreaming about it! I think it may be time to see the GP because I don't want it to get out of control.

Big congratulations to everyone Flowers

lolly baths are fine, I am in one right now! Just not too hot. The concern is changing the bodies core temperature. There is a recommended temperature but I can't remember what it is

Bear2014 · 07/01/2017 22:13

Hi mistletoe congratulations on your pregnancy Flowers

Sorry to hear about your losses. The anxiety is totally normal and understandable, I don't think it ever really goes away after infertility and/or losses. Are you having another early scan? Xx

mistletoeprickles · 08/01/2017 06:45

Hi bear
Nope no more scan until 12 weeks and I think that's why I'm struggling so much. I've had monitored so closely then told it's ok, see you in 4 weeks time.
It's bloody tough!

Bear2014 · 08/01/2017 06:56

It is really tough! The only way I can manage my anxiety is with regular scans so it would be something to consider if you can't manage. Definitely see your GP too, they may offer you a referral to the EPU xx

mistletoeprickles · 08/01/2017 07:49

I was discharged by the EPU at 7 weeks. But I am definitely going to see the GP mostly because DP has noticed I've developed some "quirks".

ellesbellesxxx · 09/01/2017 07:58

Oo yay some familiar faces and people that understand Smile hello!!!
Expecting fraternal twins (waves at Lolly!) in June and am currently 16w5!!!!
I don't know about you ladies but every week feels like a milestone.. but there are also other milestones too.. 16 for heartbeats and now 20w for next scan.. eek!
How you all feeling? Xx

ellesbellesxxx · 09/01/2017 08:00

Mistletoe I totally hear you.. I ended up getting into such a state at 9w I was sent to EPU for a scan.. just as well as otherwise would have been 6 weeks between viability scan and 12 week scan (which wasn't until almost 13)
Xx

Mrscrabtree · 09/01/2017 08:22

Welcome ellesbelles and mistletoe! Elles that's great you are at almost 17 weeks, and twins too! Exciting times.

Mistletoe I totally sympathise, Im doing my nut at the moment about waiting for my next scan. I read an article yesterday saying that if you don't have m/s you are 6x more likely to miscarry, and week 8 is most likely. I've had no m/s... any other mild symptoms have gone... and week 8 about to start. I am freaking out but I don't think I'll be allowed to go to the EPU because I'm not bleeding (touch wood) and I've not m/c before - do they count the trauma of 3 years infertility as a reason?

Sorry to stress everyone out on a Monday morning! Hope you had good weekends Bear & lolly xx

Lolly2803 · 09/01/2017 08:43

Bear Good Luck with your scan today! Thinking of you and sending you a big hug! Let us know how you get on xxx

Elles!! Waves!!! Congrats on getting so far! How are you feeling? I am 11+2 and have had scans at 7+2, 9 and 11 weeks! 9! The 9 was day before Christmas so I could try relax and the 11 was for the NIPT test. Not seeing them till my NHS scan at 13+2 now (24th). I've had nausea from about 10am - bedtime since I found out and I'm actually working from home today as I was up in the night feeling awful!! I thought it was meant to ease at 12w?

Mrs Crab try not to worry! I know people who have had no morning sickness at all and been absolutely fine! My clinic told me they also come and go and if they do not to worry. If a scan will relax you then I would have one as the worry will drive you crazy but so far things sound exactly as they should. It's hard though I know. I've been a wreck most of the time!

Mistletoe hello!! We will keep you company till your scan. When is it? Hope you're keeping ok and not worrying too much. I think all of us are worriers after going through so much to get here! xxxxx

OP posts:
mistletoeprickles · 09/01/2017 08:48

mrscrabb I don't know what you mean by m/s?
When I was scanned and there was a heartbeat at 7 weeks they said the chance of loss was now less than 10%.

My shift has changed today so I'm not going to get to the GP today but hoping I will tomorrow. The aniexty is definately getting worse and I'm doing things that are slightly obsessive like when I pee, the toilet roll has to be a certain way and I won't pee between 5am and 6am (last m/c was at 5.30am). I know it's not what I should be doing but I can't help myself

ellesbellesxxx · 09/01/2017 08:55

Mrs Crab and Mistletoe... big hugs.

Mrs C..It's ironic really that morning sickness is vile but that we find it a positive! But it doesn't mean you don't have a healthy baby in there. Would you consider a private scan to put your mind at rest?xxxx

Mistletoe.. I think if you are showing those kind of tendencies it's worth pushing for an appt ASAP xxxx hope you get to go tomorrow.

Lolly, hit 16 weeks and finally feeling better yay! Still exhausted and now uncomfortable as getting so big but the pukage is gone, just the odd wave of nausea yay!
Xxx

Bear2014 · 09/01/2017 09:41

Hi everyone - welcome Ellesbells and congratulations on your twins!

I'm going nowhere near the EPU personally, it's hell where I live and when I was bleeding last year I sat for 4.5 hours in a packed waiting room before they scanned me, despite having arrived before 8am! It's private scans all the way for me, it's expensive but a drop in the ocean compared to IVF and thankfully we can afford it.

I'm absolutely bricking it to be honest, driving my OH up the wall. At least come 3pm I will be put out of my misery and will know one way or the other.

Do you mean morning sickness? I have never had morning sickness or even a slight hint of nausea during pregnancy. With my DD, I was so well I didn't change anything about my lifestyle and had more energy than ever, probably because I wasn't drinking ;o) She was robustly healthy and came into the world weighing a massive 9.5lbs. I don't think it means anything to be honest, some people get horrendous pregnancy symptoms and have recurrent miscarriages, others don't suffer at all and pop out a load of kids.

xx
