Hi everyone.
Finally had chance to catch up.
lolly I'm glad babies are doing well. Pushchairs- from experience the best advice I would give anyone when buying a pushchair is go to a shop and play with them. It gives you an idea on weight and ease. I've still got mine from DD but it's a shit to fold!

raffles it must be very stressful, sounds like they are being extra careful and possibly just reassuring you all is ok.

mrscrab that is awful. Some people really don't understand and she's clearly one of them. Hope you haven't let it bother you Flowers

I'm consultant led also but I have a midwife. If a consultants appointment happens to fall the same week as a midwife one, I cancel the midwife. I got lucky though and my midwife is great.

Not a lot to report here. 20 week scan next week and he's happily wiggling away.

I put in maternity leave dates earlier this week. I work in an industry which is heavily effected by the season and we have just started peak season. I gave them more notice than needed because it'll be busy! It felt like a massive achievement and I'm already on the count down Blush.
DP was relived though because work has been really stressful so likes that there's a goal of finishing now.

I have a lost of what we need now but still not very willing to buy anything. We've had various little presents from friends and family and I'm happy for those to be around for now.
I found a changing bag that I love buy I need to wait for it to be on sale on amazon because it is silly money!

Hope everyone is ok xxx

RafflesMaidenSister · 17/03/2017 17:35

That's exciting mistletoe! Good to have something to aim at - I love a deadline/target for motivation (basically get sod all done without them).

I'm calming down a bit now. I'm slightly frustrated (with myself mostly) because I find it very difficult to get satisfactory answers from medical professionals so I never really feel like I know what's going on, which irks me. I feel like I'm asking the wrong questions all the time!

Doesn't actually change the outcome whether I really understand or not, so I'm just trying to forget about it.

Hope everyone has good weekends.

Lolly2803 · 17/03/2017 17:45

That's great you've planned so well Mistletoe. Makes it easier and nice to have the end in sight. I've got a date for my last day so just working to that also. Can't wait!!
When is your scan next week? Bet you can't wait!

How are you doing Raffles? What's next for you?

AFM I am feeling lots of movement. Last night I thought my bump was going to burst open as something (twin 2 I think) was digging or pushing something into me so hard!
Are your bumps hard or soft? Mine is quiet hard and at night very hard and tight. Is that normal?
21 weeks today! Eeekk!

How's everyone else doing?

Bear2014 · 18/03/2017 14:56

Glad everyone is doing well - hopefully this is the phase when we all get to enjoy it a bit 👍

That's exciting about the movement Lolly! It will get very intense very quickly I reckon!

MrsCrabtree · 18/03/2017 15:01

That sounds pretty exciting lolly!! Mine does feel bigger and tighter at night although I took a photo today and it looks smaller than last week's... I thought I felt some movement this morning but still not trying to get hopes up in case it's not. Really don't know how I'm going to get through the next 3 weeks til scan!

Good news re mat dates mistletoe and lolly. Not put in dates in yet but saw my mat coordinator this week and she was asking me if I've picked a nursery for when I come back to work yet! I said, er, nope?! Has anyone else??

Hope you're having a relaxing weekend Raffles, and everyone else x

Bear2014 · 18/03/2017 15:14

We applied last week for a nursery place for the baby for August 2018. At the nursery next door to DD's future school. Waiting lists are all in excess of a year here so you kind of have to. Where we used to live it was a lot easier to get them in places. Crazy times!

FraggleRock77 · 18/03/2017 17:18

Have you managed to sort a MW Lolly? I agree with Bear, total repetition in my opinion when you're consultant led and a waste of time. Pleased to hear you're calming down Raffles.

Is anyone else struggling with extreme tiredness. I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and have been totally floored and struggling to function for three days now. Laying in bed as i type! Luckily DH is entertaining DS. I suppose i am 40 so age is against me but honestly i could sleep day and night at present!!

Lolly2803 · 18/03/2017 17:40

Hi ladies,
I've been at the theatre today with my mum. We went to watch Phantom, was great. And then wanted to look at the icandy buggy and also the new silver cross wave Twin but turns out that hasn't launched yet but is coming really soon. Am tired now though!

As for nursery places I'm not going to need one. I'm not going back to work as the cost of it for two was basically my entire salary so am going to be a stay at home mum for a bit and then after a year or so I might put them in 1 or 2 days a week and get something part time. Will see.

As for MW I've not done anything. Just going to stick with consultant I think. Don't really know what I'd do if they gave me one so just will see how things go but I am ok for now.

Tiredness I have good days and bad days. Some days I can barely keep me eyes open and others I'm ok. But i say listen to your body and if you're tired then rest as your body obviously needs it.

Mrs Crab I was the same with movement. I think unless you've felt before it's hard to know. But now I recognise it, well am starting too. Not sure when you're supposed to start monitoring a pattern? Is it 24 weeks or 28 I can't remember?

Hope you're all having a good weekend!! Xx

mistletoeprickles · 18/03/2017 18:15

Wow I'm very impressed you guys are thinking about nurseries. It's not even crossed my mind yet but I am only part time. Saying that I am now questioning how pick ups and drop offs would work in two different settings.
When I had DD I was home for the first 18 months or so. I guess we need to look at things financially and go from there.

lolly I looked up about the moment patterns yesterday. It's 28 weeks according to kicks count uk. I've noticed in the last week or so mine is more activity in the afternoon and also the bath sets him off.

fraggles I struggled with tiredness around the 16/17 weeks mark then it subsided. I am now going to bed about an hour earlier each night though which is helping.

What appointments do we have coming up? I've got my 20 week scan on Friday

FraggleRock77 · 18/03/2017 18:57

20 weeks Mistle! Time is flying past! Phantom is one of my favourite musicals Lolly. We went to see Half a Sixpence the other wk end. If you're a musical fan it's brilliant. I'm praying this tiredness will pass ASAP! X

MrsCrabtree · 19/03/2017 08:29

Argh I've found something new to be worried about. I stayed at a friend's house for dinner and overnight last week and she has cats. I didn't go near the litter but I also can't remember how often I washed my hands whilst eating crisps etc. Now I'm also remembering eating some slightly underdone steak and mushrooms with soil on them... could I have caught toxoplasmosis?? The side effects are very serious Sad I know it's rare... what do you think?

Lolly2803 · 19/03/2017 08:37

Ok so I can chill a bit till 28 weeks at least! Well try to.... see what our 24 week scan shows.
I haven't heard of that musical Fraggle but I'll look it up. I am a big musical fan. Les Mis is my all time fav!
Mrs Crab don't worry if you didn't go near the litter then I am sure it's absolutely fine honestly! I also have had undercooked steak and it was fine. I can't imagine pregnant French women eating well Done steak so honestly I wouldn't worry at all.

As for appointments I have my 24 week scan on 3rd April! Who is next up? xxxx

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 19/03/2017 08:52

Hi all.. Mrscrab I really wouldn't worry about that stuff - from what I read last time toxoplasmosis affects less than 1 pregnant woman per year in this country. Same with listeria etc. After reading that I pretty much stopped thinking about what I ate, apart from the vit A/mercury ones. I actually think it's naughty how much of a big deal is made of it and how much stress it causes people xx

Re- nurseries we're not normally that organised about anything but we got burned by it last year. We moved house and tried to move DD to a more local nursery. They were all full with waiting lists and we ended up commuting with her on the bus to nursery for a whole year before we managed to move her. Our area of London is notorious for it though so
I can't imagine it's so bad in most other areas.

MrsCrabtree · 19/03/2017 10:00

Thanks guys. That is reassuring. I hope you're right. I think I'll just check with my midwife at next scan too. Sounds like I should start investigating nurseries too..

RafflesMaidenSister · 21/03/2017 17:45

How's everyone getting on? Had midwife today - all normal and spent yesterday in hospital with crippling abdominal pain. Fig is fine but they don't know what it was. Never been in so much pain in my life. A lot better today so hopefully will keep improving. I am now convinced that the rest of the pregnancy will go without a hitch and I'm just getting all of the scares out the way early doors Grin

Lolly2803 · 21/03/2017 18:25

Aw Raffles you poor thing! Glad the fig is ok but that sounds so painful and worrying. Hopefully that's the scare out the way and the rest will be super smooth sailing.

I'm on a course this week which involves 1 train and 3 tubes so it's going to be a long week! Just on my way home and noticed about 2 hours ago my feet and ankles have swollen up quiet bad! My legs have been so tired and achey for past few days too. Would have expected to have this closer to the end but not at 21+4!
Feeling sorry for myself tonight! Hope all is going well with everyone else!

Hi everyone, sorry I've been AWOL. I'll have to catch up on everyone's news.

I had my 20 week scan today and the good news is that baby is doing well, and all measurements within normal ranges. The not so good news is that my cervix is open and has funnelled down to the stitch. Cervix is 16mm at the moment. This means that I definitely needed a stitch so any doubt regarding this has been dismissed.

I have a stitch, am on progesterone and under 24 weeks so it feels like there isn't much more they can do for me. I'm putting myself onto full on bedrest for at least the next 4 weeks. Consultant will see me again next Tuesday and hopefully weekly thereafter. So scary Sad

MrsCrabtree · 21/03/2017 20:52

Oh Raffles, that sounds scary! So glad everything looks ok. I've been getting quite a lot of weird shooting pains recently that don't feel like ligament pains - clearly nothing like how severe yours were - but it's amazing how weird our bodies can be. I'm hoping mine mean nothing!

Lolly I hope you're resting up in the evenings!

Blueroses, oh goodness that sounds scary. You must be so relieved you had the stitch. Great news baby is ok though and that you have a plan and are being seen again soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for you xx

Lolly2803 · 21/03/2017 21:44

Blue!! Lovely to hear from you but so sorry you're going through such a worrying time. Thank goodness you had the stitch! Def stay in bed until the scan. Hope you're ok and not worrying yourself too much though I know that's almost impossible. Sending you lots of love and hope you're ok.

MrsCrab I get stabbing pains down below now and again. Fanny daggers I read they are called! Obviously not the medical term!!
There's so many weird and wonderful things that pop up isn't there!

I am trying to rest up yes. It's just my legs are so restless and jumpy at night and tired and then the swelling today. Not been a good time for my poor legs and can't imagine it'll get better as I get bigger! My poor body!
Watched an old one born every min tonight and typical it was twins delivered at 30 weeks because one was small and not growing. They were ok but in hospital for about 12 weeks. Worrying a bit of course now. Argh it never ends!! Really hoping Twin 1 has had a growth spirt by the 24 week scan. xxxx

OP posts:
RafflesMaidenSister · 22/03/2017 09:58

BlueRoses - that is awful, poor you. Hope you are not going too mad with nothing to do all day, but definitely worth it in the long run.

MrsCrab, tbh once the hospital had established that fig was sitting pretty they were relatively unconcerned about the (extreme) pain I was in, apart from a pain management perspective (they weren't heartless, just didn't think it indicated anything serious), so I think it isn't too much to worry about, though I wasn't saying that on Monday Grin. (I should add, my pain is continuing to reduce, so hopefully yours will improve too).

Hope the legs improve Lolly, sounds really miserable. I believe in T1! Fingers crossed there's been the growth spurt you need.

MrsCrabtree · 22/03/2017 10:49

Yes we are all cheering on twin 1! Star

Anyone else feel that their bump went through weeks of not growing? I'm 18 weeks now and it doesn't really look any bigger than at 16 weeks. I think I have started to feel the odd movement so I am hoping all is ok. Maybe I'll just have a growth spurt soon...?

Bear2014 · 22/03/2017 14:42

Hi ladies, crikey another eventful week! Raffles eek that sounds horrid! Hope it's a one off. Pain is the last thing you need really but at least baby is ok.

Blue such a good job you had the stitch! A family friend lost her mucus plug at 22 weeks and stayed in bed for the next 18 weeks after that. Boring but worth it. Try to see it as an opportunity to read all books and watch films as if you're anything like me you won't find time to read for the next 3 years of your life. Hang in there!

Lolly I'm sure twin 1 will catch up. Sounds like you're getting more pregnant by the second so that's a good sign. And don't watch that evil OBEM! I can't abide those shows, they're horrific 🤣

We're just heading back to London after a week's epic roadtrip around the entire country visiting family. It's felt like a nice break. All ticking along fine I think, feeling movement but not noticeably stronger just yet. I'm fine with that for now as DD used to beat the living daylights out of me 24/7!

FraggleRock77 · 22/03/2017 15:00

I hope you're hanging in there Blue. I think Bears idea sounds like a plan. Sounds like everyone's having a tricky time! How many weeks are you all now? Jealous you're feeling movement Lolly and Bear. Waiting between 12-20 weeks is sooo long. Just want to feel something to know everything's ok x

Lolly2803 · 22/03/2017 18:40

I'm ok but feeling quiet fed up. My feet were so swollen last night and jumpy I couldn't sleep. Got out of bed and ran them under freezing water - didn't help. Resulted in DH waking up to me crying out of frustration and sheer tiredness from my legs. Today my legs are very achey which hasn't been helped by this week involving a lot of train and tube travel and long work days. Never mind!

Raffles the wait between 12 and 20 feels like forever! But from there hopefully you'll feel so much more relaxed. Movement will start and you can really start to get excited.

MrsCrab I actually feel the opposite. I feel like every day I get bigger but that's probably because I am. I feel like a bit fat whale with swollen feet and I'm only 21+5! I'm sure you're growing at the usual pace so don't worry. I started feeling a bit of movement around 18/19 weeks so I'm sure everything is absolutely fine!
I read that singleton growth speeds up after 24 weeks so expect a big spirt is to come for you!

Welcome back Bear! Hope you've had a lovely break. Sounds like all good with baby Bear too which is great.

When are the next scans? Mine is. 3rd April, anyone got anything before me?
Thanks for all your positivity on Twin 1! Keep it coming!! xxxx
