Had my 16 week scan yesterday - everything looked fine but I don't really trust anything since the screw up with my results.

Lolly2803 · 14/03/2017 10:56

Aw that's not long to wait Bear! Glad you're feeling chilled and everything seems to be moving forward.
Mrs Crab I am the same as you I felt a little wave/rolling sensation at 18 weeks I think or it could have been 19 and then nothing for a few days and then it's more frequent now so I know it's them. Although As I said I've not felt any kicks. I too am desperate and everyone keeps saying have you felt kicks yet bet you feel them more with two...reality is it's still my first pregnancy so it's normal not to have felt kicks yet. I mean when they start they'll be lots of course but I'm impatiently waiting now. Don't worry and as Bear said those earlier feelers probably have wind!
My next scan is 3 weeks too - 3rd April. Aw that's great you've had such a positive yoga experience too. Normal to feel emotional as well. You've come a long way! Very special :-)

I am waiting to sign up to nct but not sure on the move now with our buyer pulling out so just have to wait and hope they still have space for me!
Doing lots of research on buggies and have narrowed down to two. Got a list and will start buying after 24 weeks. I'm starting to get excited I think!!

Fraggle I'm sure everything is going great. If it all looked fine that's a fantastic sign. I'm sure they'll be more cautious now after messing up before. Try not to worry xxxx

That's very cool Lolly! Our most recent twin friends got the iCandy one that is kind of one on top of the other and they like it. They are London based though and need to get the bus etc.

Fraggle, can't imagine how stressful and awful that was but hopefully it was a one off and all is fine xx

Lolly2803 · 14/03/2017 14:01

Yes Bear that's one of the ones I am considering. That and the Silver Cross Wave Twin. Think that one is a bit newer so not as many reviews as with the icandy.

If you have any specific questions about the icandy let me know as they've had it about 6 months now xx

RafflesMaidenSister · 14/03/2017 18:20

OK, so saw a consultant today, he has reassured me that every thing is going to be absolutely fine but they are also going to give me an extra scan between now (16 weeks) and 20 weeks to look for "soft signs" of downs and/or possibly something else (I'm not sure about the latter - possibly to do with the heart?!). This is following a harmony of less than 1-in-10,000 but then a subsequent combined of 1 in 110. He was at pains to say it looked fine and that even 1 in 110 is borderline higher risk and it was likely, looking at all four parameters, due to my age (35).

But, but, but, if he thought all that why would they still do the extra scan? At some point I'm going to get so fed up of navel gazing I'm just going to stop worrying. I can't wait for that to happen ...

On a more positive note, he did correct my apparent 17 kg weight gain in 3 weeks as recorded in my notes ... Grin

Lolly2803 · 14/03/2017 19:51

That's great they aren't worried Raffles. Sometimes I think they do these things just to be cautious and on the safe side. Aside from the numbers you've given are there any other indicators of downs or do you know what is driving those numbers?
The harmony sounds very low risk to me! Hope you're not worrying too much I'm sure everything with baby Raffles is fine. Hard though I know. There's always something to worry about isn't there. Hope you're alright xxxx

Bear2014 · 14/03/2017 20:07

Hi Raffles - sounds stressful but probably just the hospital being cautious. They probably just automatically book you in for these things at a specific threshold so I would just look at it as an opportunity to see baby again and get some reassurance. Xx

MrsCrabtree · 15/03/2017 09:27

Raffles that sounds really stressful. The doctor sounds reassuring though so I hope you're able to relax a bit. I'm sure everything is just fine.

My colleague came into work today and told me she had a nightmare that I lost the baby. I don't think she realises how distressing it is to hear something like that but it's really upset me! X

Bear2014 · 15/03/2017 09:42

Mrscrab who the F would say that out loud to someone?! Unbelievable!

Lolly2803 · 15/03/2017 09:46

Oh my goodness that is outrageous!!! Why would you ever tell somebody that?!

Don't let that upset you MrsCrab. Baby crab is absolutely fine. It or course means absolutely nothing apart from your colleague is clearly an insensitive, silly cow.

Honestly, what is wrong with some people!

FraggleRock77 · 15/03/2017 10:34

I hope you gave her a good bloody slap! X

MrsCrabtree · 15/03/2017 10:58

I know Sad she is actually a friend but she doesn't want kids and I don't think she gets it. She said she was upset by it and wanted to get it off her chest! Onto mine!!

Thanks guys, I thought I was over reacting!

I know it means nothing, just trying to remind myself of that xx

Bear2014 · 15/03/2017 11:40

Yeah, she should probably have just kept that one to herself Grin

Hope everyone is doing well otherwise!

RafflesMaidenSister · 15/03/2017 13:23

How mean! Some people are so thoughtless aren't they? Dreams mean nothing - particularly not other people's, but understand why you would be upset.
Hope you are able to forget about it.

RafflesMaidenSister · 15/03/2017 13:26

Lolly, according to the last two doctors, all factors on the combined were in the normal range but not bang in the middle of it and I'm an OAP (35, but feel about 900 at the mo Grin). Doctor yesterday thought my age was probably skewing it. I know it's a good thing to get an extra peek at the fig and agree with them that more information is better. I just want someone to tell me definitively that everything is going to be absolutely fine. I know no-one can say that, to anyone, but that's what I'd like.
He let me have a listen to the heartbeat, which was lovely. Always like an opportunity to know it's still there.

Bear2014 · 15/03/2017 13:29

Rafles I sympathise! I'm 36 but feel 76 today, seem to have a pinched nerve in my arse that's making me walk funny!

RafflesMaidenSister · 15/03/2017 15:16

Oh Bear! That's sounds really uncomfortable. Hope it gets unpinched soon!

Lolly2803 · 15/03/2017 19:36

Oh Bear that sounds very painful?! How on earth did you do that?! I've got heartburn tonight, has anyone else had this? I haven't had since early pregnancy!

Raffles 35 is not even old!! I'm sure everything with baby Raffles is fine so try to relax. Although I'm the worst so I know it's hard. You want them to tell you everything is fine but as you said they can't say that to anyone! We just have to hope and pray for the best xxxx

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 15/03/2017 20:36

It's not too awful thanks, just something I associate as a 'late pregnancy complaint' - possibly showing my age!

Yes I've had a bit of heartburn, again didn't get it til last trimester with DD. Get your MW to give you a prescription as all the Gaviscon etc gets v expensive. I got through about £10 worth per week in last couple of months last time.

Lolly2803 · 15/03/2017 20:55

See I don't have a midwife as I'm consultant led so what do I do if I have questions or things like that? Everyone says oh I just asked my midwife but I am not sure who to ask!

xxx

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 15/03/2017 21:18

Oh really? I'm consultant led but have a MW. Just ask the consultant then I guess 👍

Lolly2803 · 15/03/2017 22:28

Aw really?! I'll ask when I next see him then who I go to for queries etc. x

OP posts:
Bear2014 · 16/03/2017 08:40

Maybe when it's twins they just bypass the midwife altogether. To be honest I don't really see the point of me having a mw - I have to have a c-section and there is just repetition between the doc and MW appointments which is quite boring...
