Anyone else got the grumps?

Only 30 weeks today... but...

Sore back. Tired after doing Christmas. Grumpy as hell.

I'm staying in bed, it's been decided.
Anyone else want to join me for a duvet day, fake wine and treats? Grin

Just saw this! I'm 26 weeks, hate being pregnant (love kicks and the whole having a baby part of course), I have no energy, feel like crap 90% of the time and now have what I can only describe as bottomless pit PMT but 10x worse....I cried over cooking the vegetables for dinner last night. It's my first and already worried I'll never want to have a second sob!

RedCrab · 07/01/2017 16:40

Awww sarah the hormones are an absolute killer. In my first pregnancy I cried over seagulls looking lonely, nuts in my teeth and not being able to get comfortable in my work chair. I'd like to say it gets better but this is my third DC and just today I cried over a crappy click bait ad on Facebook.

RedCrab · 07/01/2017 16:41

Like - proper massive lump in my throat, can't speak sobbing. My children were aghast Hmm

Gardencentregroupie · 07/01/2017 17:17

Pregnancy is a huge part of the reason I'm stopping at 2

Imavinoops · 07/01/2017 17:51

Garden We had thought about having 3 in total. We have my lovely step son so DD1 will be our first together but second overall. Since I have been pregnant though we are starting to reconsider. Grin

We will leave the choice properly until after baby is born and we have all recovered from the shock though, still we are a bit iffy now. ;) I would love a third but tbh this is getting to be such a drag what with all the hormones, aches and pains and whatnot.

After my second baby, I almost immediately said thank fuck I don't have to do that again.

But here I am. HmmHmmGrin

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 13:46

Red Oh lord, that doesn't bode well. I have heard after a while you start seeing all the bad bits about pregnancy and labour through rose tinted glasses and that if we didn't do that then we wouldn't do it again. Could all be a load of crap tbh though.

Oh gosh, just rejoined the MN antenatal group for March, people are already talking about having their babies! Crikey!

Ha ha, I'm on that thread too, it freaks me out half the time Grin

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 14:41

Name Tell me about it, I don't read it very much but thought I would make an attempt seeing as there is a new thread. It seems very quiet compared to all the other months though, I know there is a fb group but I didn't join it so maybe they are more active on there.

I got all stupidly crazy and upset this morning because I couldn't move around properly to clean because of my sore ankle. Hormones! Who cries because they CAN'T clean! Honestly! Wink
Turns out I managed a little bit so then felt a bit better.

MDA for DSS tomorrow so driving into the hospital first thing. I'm sure I will blend in in the hospital in one way or another, belly bump wise or gammy leg wise. Wink Either way, nobody will suspect we are there for DSS I'm sure! Haha!

Oh no, I'm grumpy and sore but I'm not due until 7th March and I'm absolutely not ready to have this baby yet. How scary.

RedCrab · 08/01/2017 16:04

Garden I'm a few weeks behind you and SO ready to have this baby. Stick a fork in me, because I am done!

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 16:31

Garden Snap with the due date! I'm feeling a competition coming on! ;)

Hands Garden a fork

I hate pregnancy and really don't want another one in sick of it already and I have three
Months left of this helll!

Gardencentregroupie · 08/01/2017 17:48

I'm likely having mine out by ELCS, seeing the consultant on the 19th, so it won't be late but it would be inconvenient to go early. Feels like the little bugger is going to come out through my rib cage at the moment.

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 17:52

Garden Ooh interesting. Our hospital doesn't do ELCS, I had to sign a bit of paper agreeing that I wasn't going to have one.

Luckily for me I wasn't planning on it, must be a bit of a kick in the teeth if you were though.

Happily mine seems to be asleep for the time being, although the acid reflux has come on in full force tonight. Hoping it will stop before Sherlock but I very much doubt it.

Are you in the UK Imavinoops?

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 19:28

Garden Yes I am, ooer is that particularly strange then do you think?

In other news, today is the day I have officially started leaking like a big old fat cow. Grin

Gardencentregroupie · 08/01/2017 20:04

It just seems weird to me, what if you got towards the end of your pregnancy and found the baby was growth restricted or transverse breech or you had placenta previa (sp?) and needed an ELCS? Would they transfer your care to another hospital?

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 20:22

I'm under the impression that if it would cause me or baby any harm then we can have one but can't decide from the word go that we are having it.

I wonder if it's due to various birth centers and smaller hospitals having cut backs and closures around here. Our hospital takes in lots of people from so many different areas.

Ima
"Our hospital doesn't do ELCS, I had to sign a bit of paper agreeing that I wasn't going to have one."
I think that's really unusual - it's against the Nice guidelines for a start!
www.birthrights.org.uk/library/factsheets/Right-to-Medical-Assistance.pdf
(See info under "Do I have a right to a C-section?")

Gardencentregroupie · 08/01/2017 23:00

It's very odd. My last birth went a bit tits up and at the debrief the consultant recommended I have a CS if I got pregnant again because a VB would be a risk to my health, that's why I've gone into this pregnancy with a CS in mind, so would your hospital just not have me?

Imavinoops · 08/01/2017 23:37

I have no idea now tbh, I looked on my hospital website and it says nothing about not being allowed. I wonder if I have misunderstood or remembered incorrectly. It was quite a while ago at my booking appointment.

Done a bit more googling, found a MN post from 2014 on the subject. I'm part of Oxford University Hospital Trust too. Looks like NICE guidelines are just that, guidelines. I think they push pretty hard for you to reconsider and then if you still want one then you have to find an OB who will do it, but they do have the right to refuse you as an individual.

Looks like there are options to move to a different NHS trust to do it, maybe a different one would be more open..?

Ok so I made the mistake of reading up about ELCS last night before I went to sleep and the recovery process and what other women have gone through and it's safe to say I'm totally freaked out and scared shitless. Pls pls pls let this baby turn before my next scan I'll stick to a normal birth thanks

NameChange30 · 09/01/2017 07:30

Pointless
A friend of mine had an ELCS and while it is a major operation, it was very straightforward, she found it stress-free and the recovery was fine.
Obviously there can be a big difference between an ELCS and an EMCS and I'm pretty sure the latter is more stressful and can be more difficult to recover from (especially if you've had a difficult labour beforehand).
However so many women have c-sections that I wouldn't even say they're not "normal".
Hopefully you won't have to have one but if you do, I don't think it would be the end of the world.
I say this as someone who has done hypnobirthing classes and wants to give birth with minimal interventions Grin But I figure if it has to be a C-section I'll cope!

Imavinoops · 09/01/2017 08:02

Pointless I'm sure it's one of those things that people always talk about if they have had a negative experience, if you have a positive one then there isn't much of a need to tell your story because it's dull so you're probably just being bombarded with the horrible side.

Coincidentally a thread came up on MN last night about elcs and lots and lots of people had lovely positive stories to share. Possibly worth taking a look!

Heading off to the hospital this morning, no idea where we are meant to be going though so will probably end up wandering around the hospital for ages haha! Grin
