So the midwife called and said my fasting blood sugar was slightly higher than it should've been. I've to attend a group discussion on how to manage it on Tuesday. She said they could do the GTT test but I would still have to attend this discussion so to do that on Tuesday anyway. Feeling quite worried although I already knew I might get it because of the nature of the op I had few years ago (had 80% pancreas removed). Does anyone know how it will be managed? Is it just by diet initially to see how it goes?

LynseyH · 12/01/2017 13:09

X post sorry dino lovely picture too :-) having things from before is always so helpful. I had it with all my boys apart from first obviously. I gave it all away after them though so not even any white stuff left.
I feel happy with the bits I do have, and they've all just been washed now too. Had a nap and woke up with little niggly pains so glad I'm getting things sorted just incase. I know I won't have baby before whatser but I know we're sooooo close now!!

I've just tried to watch PS. I LOVE YOU - the film. Never seen it before. I had to stop the film because it opened the floodgates and i can't stop crying! Haha I'm such a mess! I'm quite happy with my bump and weight gain if I'm honest. As long as this baby is OK I can cope with anything!

LynseyH · 12/01/2017 13:10

X posting every which way...purple I can't help sorry but hope someone else can x

purple not my experience but a friend of mine developed gestational diabetes in her pregnancy it was managed just by diet I think..she looked amazing! Hope that helps a little!

Also re. baby clothes, I always found everything tended to shrink a little after it had been washed a couple of times (no tumble back then, so it really was just washing), so definitely go bigger...

LynseyH · 12/01/2017 14:05

Argh so frustrated!!!! My hospital bag just got delivered and it's got mould patches all over it 😲 I can't use it so now I'm back to square one!!!

I have learned in the last few days you can't have enough sleep suits and vests!!!! Also cloths for after feeding and spit ups. Outfits are really cute but annoying to put on then feel bad when they just get covered in sick.

One thing I would go back and change is how superstitious I was. It would have been difficult to do but because I was so anxious I left tags on things, things in boxes and bed not made up. Getting all this arranged now baby is here had me really overwhelmed last night!

Whatsername17 · 12/01/2017 14:50

How is she doing good Mac? What was her weight and have you picked a name?

XxBecxX · 12/01/2017 14:52

lol had a MW appointment, protein in my wee and sugar so she sent it off!
Listened to the little chicken and he was being naughty trying to move away from the dopler lol
My pram and my crib and other bits was delivered today, need to buy bedding and milk and then I'm mostly done, I ordered another pram so I had one in the car, much to my husbands annoyance as he said the prams total cost more than his work van 😂😂 slight exaggeration but I said I didn't care as this is my final baby, I had a little sort out of his wardrobe, please take a look i didn't really realise how much I'd already bought 😲😲😲 I think I have developed an baby clothes addiction 😂😂

Yeah she is doing really good she was 8 pounds and is called Isla Smile

Whatsername17 · 12/01/2017 16:57

Beautiful name and such a good weight! I really hope I can join you soon! X

jpeg28 · 12/01/2017 17:42

Whatser and dolerite what lovely bumps!

Lynsey that's so annoying about the bag... can't believe it was delivered like that!

Bec that looks amazing!!! I don't have any space for a baby wardrobe so god knows where I will store it all!

Macauley that's such a beautiful name!!! Glad she is doing well.

I'm having a panic today... first I don't think the baby has moved much today. And second I have just had an email saying a kid I teach has shingles. Called the triage and they didn't know what to do about the shingles and I'm now lying on my left side and have sent Oh out for a sugary drink and chocolate!!

doleritedinosaur · 12/01/2017 18:06

Awww mac what a lovely name!& such a weight for 2 weeks early. Hope you're both continuing to do well.

jpeg have you had chickenpox?
This is what NHS website says
www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/1110.aspx

I may not be able to link properly as I'm on my phone. As far I understand shingles is not as contagious as chickenpox & should only be worried if you get a rash but even then extremely low risk to baby.

If you've had chicken pox you're okay. Just keep washing hands & eye out for rash.

Aw lynsey that's terrible about your bag are you able to pick up something else?

Tiredness slammed into me when OH got home so trying to grab a nap.

NetflixandBill · 12/01/2017 18:19

Scan went well today! Phew!

Theyve moved me ahead from 12+3 to 13+0 which is a relief. So bizarre seeing it there and growing! Thanks for the lovely support on the thread!

Lovely name and size mac xx

Jpeg my friend apparently suffers from shingle outbursts and my midwife told me to stay away but as I had already had chicken pox I was unlikely to have been affected by any small exposure.
I think if there's no rash within the next 14 days your ok but I'd want to personally stay away from that particular class as who knows if anybody else has caught it aswell and is incubating at present?
It's a difficult one, also it will either only effect the top half or bottom half of your body not the body in its entirety so make sure you get OH to check your back bum and legs each evening, I'm sure you'll be ok tho, xxx

Put a pic up mac when you can xxx

Ladies they have got tonne some of the neatest, loveliest bumps ever!
What a bloody arsehole them sending you a moulding bag!
Have you got a store 21 anywhere by you as they usually do lovely bags for about £10 Lyns xxx

Whatsername17 · 12/01/2017 18:27

Congrats! Lovely pic x

INeedNewShoes · 12/01/2017 18:29

Great news Netflix Smile

jpeg - my baby is unnerving me today with lack of movement too. I'm about to drink a big glass of cold water then settle down on the sofa and watch a film in the hope that will bring about some kicking.

I think they just have days that are less active than others... putting energy into development rather than beating us up from the inside!

Naschkatze · 12/01/2017 18:43

Dino I'm also going to try the lime and soda idea - sounds good. Sah I'd recommend chewing gum too - I've started with a piece after every meal and it's really helping the heartburn!

Whatser so close! They might be signs. Also, watching PS I Love You in pregnancy probably not the best idea Wink it even made my DH cry!

Purple I'm not a good person to answer your question on baby gros because I think I've got far too many. In my defence a lot of them were hand me downs from friends/family!

Macauley Beautiful name! Glad she is well - hope you're recovering okay too!

JPeg and Ineed - have you got the pregnancy+ app? I find the kick counter on there useful for keeping track; I do it when I think baby has had a quiet day and it reassures me. But remember to go in for a check if you are worried! *
*
Congratulations Netflix!

It's been busy on here today. Hope I've not missed anyone. I'm feeling very uncomfortable and my ribs actually feel bruised from all the pushing/kicking. Midwife said yesterday that baby is head down with feet just below my ribs to the left and bum on the other side so that explains it!

33+6 Bump picture to follow!

jpeg28 · 12/01/2017 19:04

Thanks for the advice... baby has kicked a few times now so I'm much happier! Must have been the chocolate. Nasch I haven't downloaded the app yet as I'm only 26 weeks and I thought that was too early to count kicks, also I can't use my phone really during the day so how do you use it? Maybe I should get one of the bracelet type counters.

Thanks for the shingles advice bec and dolerite. I have had chicken pox so think I'm fine. Also I'm a secondary school teacher so it's not like I come into direct contact with kids. I might just avoid that class tomorrow!! X

Naschkatze · 12/01/2017 19:40

JPeg I don't use it all the time, just if I've been feeling worried about movement. Midwife advice was to drink a cold drink and lie down on left for two hours. The kick counter times the two hours for you and then you log how many movements you feel. When you get to 10 it stops. So it helps to see how long it takes to get to 10 and if vastly different from normal pattern then worth calling for advice. For me, it just helps me to notice that baby is still moving similarly to normal and I've just missed things. When it took much longer one day a few weeks back, I rang triage and MW said as I'd felt 10 moves baby was most likely fine but to do another count a couple of hours later and then ring again if still slow. Sure enough in the next count it took no time at all to get to 10 and I was reassured.
Even if you don't use the counter part yet, the is app is good.
Have you felt any more movements now?
(Sorry for the essay...)

Bump picture attached! Feel very large - but other people say it's neat!

jpeg28 · 12/01/2017 19:42

Thanks Nasch... and that is such a neat bump!! You look great Smile I feel like a whale! I'll send a bump pic tomorrow!

XxBecxX · 12/01/2017 20:17

Lovely pic Nash, very neat and tidy xxx

Amaze balls Netflix xxxxx

Gingerbreadmam · 12/01/2017 20:25

Loving all the bump pics, great to see!

I'm on one this evening. 5+5 and still not feeling strong symptoms. Went to loo and thought i saw the tiniest spot of something coloured on tissue.

Prodded away and nothing else. Next loo stop tmi bit of clear discharge lots of prodding nothing else. Toilet stop after that completely clear.

I'm being completely paranoid arent i? Its the lack of boob nack that is panicking me they killed in my succesful if you can call it that pregnancy.

jpeg28 · 12/01/2017 20:36

Amazing scan photo netflix! Congrats!!

Whatsername17 · 12/01/2017 20:58

Ginger with this pregnancy I prodded my poor cervix into a bleed. I also had zero symptoms really. With my mmc I was sick 4 times a day. It's all meaningless. Now repeat after me: 'today, I am pregnant' FlowersCakeBrew
