Here for a hand hold whatser.. can appreciate how you are feeling. Try keep distracted today, binge on Netflix and put your feet up. Salt gargles for throat x

doleritedinosaur · 09/01/2017 08:15

Aw whatser I wish there was something I could say.

I really hope you get through this day, is there anything or anyone that could help? Do distractions help?

You're allowed to grieve & feel grateful, it is extremely hard.

Good luck to the 8am scan mrsalan

Just on route to mine now, baby isn't comfortable. All the old anxiety is back. Doesn't help my pee looks awful either.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

INeedNewShoes · 09/01/2017 08:32

Whatser - sorry its such a tough day for you. Allow yourself to be upset and to grieve.

I don't think you need to worry about passing your sore throat onto the baby. I gather that when we're unwell we pass on the necessary antibodies to the baby so that we can be horribly ill and the baby will be fine. Lucky them, hey?

I hope you feel better as the day goes on Flowers and plenty of Brew. I'm finding hot Ribena quite a good comfort drink for my sore throat.

fuzzywuzzy · 09/01/2017 09:20

Whats you are allowed ot be sad and to grieve for your lost baby, it doesn't make you ungrateful at all. It makes you human.

Do whatever it takes to make this day as easy as possible on yourself, as others have suggested put your feet up and bgine watch your fave boxset, or call a friend/family and cry to them. You have every right to.

My baby is due on the exact date I had my SMM last year, I'm trying not to think about it as it terrifies me.

It's perfectly normal to grieve, I don't think I will ever completely get over losing my much loved and wanted babies.

Much love to you.

Whatsername17 · 09/01/2017 09:23

Thanks everyone Flowers

Thinking of your whatser...what a tough day. Hope you manage to relax and enjoy your first day of mat leave as much as is possible.

Good luck to everyone with scans today.

Baby is moving so much more now which makes me happier! Although it's quite distracting when I'm trying to work!!

Has anyone had nose bleeds in pregnancy? Had a reallllllyyyyy heavy one last night! Came out of no where and blood was pouring everywhere! Didn't last more than 20 mins so I'm not worried, just wondered if I should expect more!

knorrig · 09/01/2017 09:47

Catching up (and slightly terrified at all the talk about labour...eeek!)

Thinking of you whatser hope you get through the day okay.

Now 16+2 , still have days where it doesn't seem real I've got this far! Got my midwife appointment today.

Re sore throats, I went to the docs thinking i had tonsillitis but was told it was laryngitis, he told me to just take paracetamol and the throat pastilles you can buy (unmediated and to be honest didn't feel that effective) Hope it goes v soon!

doleritedinosaur · 09/01/2017 09:48

Placenta has moved a whopping 6cm! I can have my home birth.

Now have to try & see midwife this week & re-find my home birth list.

Baby is 4.5lbs & measuring 1-2 weeks ahead with a lot of hair. & is already head down.

I'm so relieved right now. Just waiting to see the consultant that made me cry last time but I feel more prepared now.

Glad baby is moving more jpeg have no idea on nosebleeds but I'd say don't goggle!

OH is now worried about the bed haha. I really thought a home birth was out of the question but it's not.

LynseyH · 09/01/2017 10:02

Yay fantastic news dino! amazing and a good tip for cheaply protecting the bed...shower curtains!
whatser you've been on my mind this morning, hope your doing ok. Take it hour by hour if need be and don't feel guilty for feeling sad, it's human as said up thread and you have every right to mourn your baby.
Soon a little ray of sunshine will be making an appearance for you which will help to heal your heart xx

Jpeg I forbid lots of nosebleeds in pregnancy with my eldest dc, not so much this pregnancy tho.

I am however getting night sweats (God I'm attractive).

I had my first prenatal Pilates class yday and ache today but she was brilliant showed us exercises to tone pelvic floor and strengthen arms legs and back. I'm hoping it will help the SPD.

knorrig · 09/01/2017 10:30

Jpeg - I had a v small nosebleed a couple of weeks ago and googled it and it said how nosebleeds (along with all the other crazy symptoms) are normal in pregnancy so I wouldn't worry too much.
My friend and I were joking the other day about all these things you get that would normally worry you and when you google they're normal in pregnancy!!

Dino - congrats, v happy for you!

XxBecxX · 09/01/2017 10:57

Thinking of watser xxx
Jpeg that awesome about the movement xxx
Dino that's incredible, you get your homebirth and the baby has hair!!
I loved having a hairy baby, they are extra cute!
Xxxx

MrsAlanPartridge · 09/01/2017 11:25

Thinking of you whatser and hope.you are gentle with yourself today.. I always find Christmas Eve hard, as that's the anniversary of one of mine..
Thankyou for the well wishes dino. Scan went brilliantly and little bean doing gymnastics!!! So relieved I cried.
It's almost like my brain is allowing my body to connect, as I have popped out massively, am now weeing a lot and those flutters I have been dismissing are definitely there!
Sending love and strength to those who need it X

jpeg28 · 09/01/2017 14:08

Great news dolerite!

Glad you've managed to find a pregnancy Pilates class fuzzy mine has been amazing! But my pelvic floor is not too great right now!! I though as this is my first and I'm reasonably young it would be ok... let's just say my bladder isn't what it used to be!! Blush

Fantastic news on the scan mrsAP!

XxBecxX · 09/01/2017 14:20

Great news mrsP x

Badgerbird · 09/01/2017 17:03

whatser I hope you found your way today Flowers Tricky times, try to be kind to yourself.

dino that's amazing! Can I please ask where your placenta was and why you couldn't have home birth?

alan great news Smile what a relief eh! I popped after my scan too! It's like my body allowed it :)

Naschkatze · 09/01/2017 17:12

WhatserFlowers hope you've managed to have some relaxing time to yourself today.

Congratulations mrsAP and Dolerite on good news today.
Have decided we're going to try and go ahead with home birth too (provided all okay from now on.) Had a wobble when some unhelpful colleagues told me it was risky and not to do it; but I'm sticking to my guns and just not telling anyone else any more.

INeedNewShoes · 09/01/2017 17:34

I popped after my scan too. I assumed it was something to do with mince pies though Grin

Whatsername17 · 09/01/2017 20:01

Thanks for all of the good wishes. I took myself to bed for an hour and had a good sob. Then I had a bath and got up and got on with my day. I really want my baby here now. It's all I can think about. I just need her in my arms. I don't think there is any chance labour is imminent though which feels so frustrating.
Congrats on the home birth news dolerite- great that you can have the birth you planned. I was desperate for mine to move and it did, but now I'm at 38+3 I find myself wishing it hadn't as they would have delivered her now! I can honestly say my anxiety is now the worst it has been since the first trimester. I'm so close to the end it is just terrifying. Just got to keep swimming I guess!

LynseyH · 09/01/2017 20:27

whatser I'm glad you've managed to get through the day, must admit I feel the same in wanting to hurry up and have baby now. I'm still around 4 weeks away yet though. Did you have any signs labour was going to start last time? With my first 2 I literally didn't have a clue, just started in the middle of the night. My 3rd, I had a small inkling as I ate everything I could get my hands on the night before, I remember thinking "is this a sign?!" He was born just after 2am following my massive feast. Do I remember you saying you have a cat? Sometimes they know better than you! The night before my second, I was visiting someone and their dog wouldn't stop licking me, she was obsessed to the point of trying to stick her nose up my top trying to lick my belly! I had no idea at the time she seemed to sense it was going to happen. Strange but heard many similar stories.

Glad the scan went well mrsalan and great news dolerite!

Sorry today has been so tough for you whats hope DH is home for you now to help take your mind off your anxiety.

I had another scan at a private medical place yesterday and everything looked good, even for a few little videos of baby moving around and they confirmed were having another girl, we have agreed to keep it a secret until she's born though so this is the only chance il get to tell anyone that until June! 17+1 today

Whatsername17 · 09/01/2017 21:19

I had contractions start and stop for two weeks before. Looking back, they were Braxton hicks but by the time I got to my sweep I was 2cm dilated so they obviously did something. After my sweep I lost my plug the next morning then 19 hours later dd was born! Desperate for my waters to pop in the middle of the night! There's so much pressure when I get up for a wee but then, nothing!

LynseyH · 09/01/2017 21:43

Yikes how frustrating! I'm not sure if I've ever had braxton hicks. Sometimes my belly will seem to go hard for literally a few seconds but it's not uncomfortable or painful and I usually put it down to baby moving.
Time to start on the fresh pineapple?! Apparently good for starting things off, but to be honest i honestly think baby will come only when ready. Those last couple of weeks/days really do drag!

doleritedinosaur · 09/01/2017 21:50

Aw whatser You really are so close to the end, are you having any signs at all? When are you next seeing the midwife as would want to see if you're at least able to handle a sweep? I really hope the anxiety eases up for you and your baby girl comes soon.

Thank you everyone, I've been slightly terrified of the c section and I know I can do labour, (well it bloody hurts) but should hopefully be short.

Nasch I had so many people when I was told I may have to have a c section say its so much better and home birth was dangerous but I've done a lot of reading and plus its your body your experience.

Badger my placenta is posterior but at 20 weeks they discovered the leading edge covered the internal OS which is the cervix. So labour would have been extremely dangerous for both of us due to hemorrhaging. They like it to move more than 4cm but mine is more than 6cm which is perfect.

mrsAP that's absolutely amazing, the relief after the 12 week scan is immense. Hope you continue to feel those flutters.

I've got a growth scan at 36 weeks, baby's head is already 30cm so I'm hoping the hypnobirthing/yoga/birthing ball/fast labour all work together.
I get to cut the chord hopefully as well, OH is really not good with blood. Also seeing my consultant properly and he is not a fan of home births but there's no reason for me to be at the hospital at the moment.

Thanks for the tip lynsey I'm making a list now, I know poundstretcher have puppy training pads for 89p as well which will be handy incase waters go at night. Also need a torch incase of stitches. Got my birthing ball but DS thinks it's his and tries to push me off if I'm on it when he's downstairs. & tells me off.

Hope your DS is starting to feel better.

Hope everyone had a good Monday and the good news continues for the rest of the week.

DoubleCarrick · 10/01/2017 03:59

Lynesy, the tightening is Braxton hicks, I found them weird.

I haven't been on to give an official announcement!!

Cooper was born on Friday night at home and went exactly how we wanted it to. It was just amazing. Happy to share my birth story in more detail if you ladies want.

Coop isn't doing quite so well, it's been a scary few days. He seems to have an infection which they thought was meningitis. It's looking more likely to be a chest infection though and he's slowly responding to antibiotics. He's really struggling to feed because of it though. He's in the special care unit for now while I'm up on postnatal ward which is weird. I'm thankful that I get a private room because we were readmitted so I don't have to sit amongst the babies. I think two more days and I might be able to get him back up to me, if he can learn to feed and not need a tube.
