Hey,

Thanks for all your advice, it's definitely not iron levels, apparently I've got the highest iron levels my midwife has ever seen (I think it's due to having no thyroid so my body breaks stuff down differently) however have been sitting up uber straight today, and sitting down a lot at work and it's helped. I did try GP and am booked in for Wednesday :(

However reading some of your messages, just a little one for me, apparently soothers, halls, sucky sweets are all a no no as they're all medicated and say no for pregnant women without talking to midwife - however the black ones in a pack which are always uber cheap and really smell strongly...... I cannot think what they're called are unmedicated so absolutely fine.

And heat packs as in deep heat again are a no as say not for pregnant women on them, however a microwaveable heat thing is fine, though for bad back I find sitting on a chair then pulling left arms across body and gripping chair and pulling myself straight then repeating for the right hand side really works.

Hope everyone feeling better though xx

ImGonnaSingTheDoomSongNow · 06/01/2017 22:02

Definitely not going to be anaemia then sah!

Oh didn't realise that bout the heat packs and deepheat. Bloody GP. Though not suprising as she initially told me to use ibuprofen gel until I said I thought it wasn't safe in pregnancy and then she says oh yeah, best not then!

I love those throat sweets, the ones that taste like aniseed? I can't think what they are called either but are only about 55p a bag? They do honey and lemon and cherry ones too, if they are the ones I think you mean.

Bodies do such weird things when pregnant.
To be fair I still feel quite breathless a lot of the time despite taking iron tablets so who knows!

Sah1987 · 06/01/2017 22:22

Yes they are, immin the bath but am going hunting in my cupboard in a Dec as it's irritating me!!!!

Badgerbird · 06/01/2017 23:22

Thanks for the kind words Lovelies :) nice to know I'm not alone and that when movement starts it'll prob feel a bit less abstract!

Fantastic scan news fuzzy!! How exciting :) and not too long for you mojitos! Yes we have very close edd's, think fuzzy and me are due on same day. I reckon mine will be a June baby though Shock

Oh lynsey I hope you have a more relaxing less stressful wknd!

Blimey alb just as well you chased them up!!

Hope you find something to soothe your throat newshoes, I think salt water gargle sounds best bet.

Have a great wknd everyone! I'm in catering and have a big 2 day event this wknd so should be interesting Confused Let's hope my energy levels sustain me!

FlourishingMrs · 07/01/2017 00:35

Hi ladies, baby 2 months old here and doing well. Still have 5 kg to loose.
Just to wish you luck.

Fuzzywuzzy I went for bugaboo and love it.

INeedNewShoes · 07/01/2017 00:36

Thanks everyone for the sore throat/paracetamol advice.

I think I'm coming down with a nasty lurgy Sad My lungs feel horrid and scratchy! Just hoping its one of those things where I wake up in the morning feeling better than I do now.

I'm just about to gargle salt water before bed and now that I know its ok I'll take paracetamol if I need it.

Sorry to moan Confused

Wishing everyone a good night's sleep!

Macauley · 07/01/2017 04:27

Congratulations flourishing lovely to hear from you. Hope you and baby are doing well Grin

Whatsername17 · 07/01/2017 08:35

I had the same lurgy- keep to a four hour paracetamol schedule and rest.

MoonlightMojitos · 07/01/2017 08:54

badger I'm due 31st May so could go either way but I'm really hoping it's a May baby although probably be June.

Well done flourishing! Thanks for checking in :) lovely to hear you're both doing well.

For anyone who hasn't seen carrick had her baby! She posted a thread starting in early labour and was born yesterday, sounds like all went smoothly with the home birth. So nice to hear positive stories.

MrsAlanPartridge · 07/01/2017 09:44

Hello ladies. Sorry for those feeling rubbish and wishing people well Smile
So, I'm 12+4 today and have MW visit this pm. Still no scan date through, despite my heart jumping everytime I hear the letterbox.
Been having (tension) headaches and anxiety through the roof. I just want to know there is a baby and that it's alive and ok Sad
I want to be able to tell my younger kids, too. This limbo is making me feel awful- vivid dreams that something has gone wrong, so I spend most of the mornings trying to remove them from my brain!
Argh. Think I will ask MW to chase up scan and maybe feel to see if uterus popped out.
Sorry for the rant- I just want to know all is well!!!

Whatsername17 · 07/01/2017 09:50

I ate halls soothers! Oops!

fuzzywuzzy · 07/01/2017 09:52

MrsAlan definitely chase up scan you should get your nuchal scan about now they can't do if after I think fourteen weeks so you need to chase for it.
Good luck with youor appt today.

Lovely to hear of the baby's born. I'm slowly thinking of looking at prams now!

NetflixandBill · 07/01/2017 10:46

Hi all. Sorry so many of you are ill. V tempted to get the flu jab and try to stave it off.

Had booking apt this week which was fine. Not my midwife but hopefully i will get to meet her next time if i'm still hanging in there! 12 week scan this thursday. Never had an afternoon scan appointment before, i always ask for the earliest they have, so i'll probably be a nervous wreck. First time that i'll be in the proper pregnancy bit as well instead of EPU.

Been watching scan videos on youtube this week too and wish i hadn't now. I didn't realise they could move around so much. I won't tell DH so hopefully he can have a nice surprise.

Aargh, i really hope this one isn't dead!!!

11+5

MrsAlanPartridge · 07/01/2017 16:11

Had MW visit which was good. Mentioned to her that still no scan letter. She called when back in the office and had managed to get onto their system. Apparently I am booked in for Monday 8am, and yet no letter?!
Bit cross as would have missed the appt had I not said anything. So only a couple of days more of uncertainty and anxiety and hopefully I can move forward in a positive way.. arggghh

Sah1987 · 07/01/2017 20:28

For those wondering from last night

Jakemans

Are the throats sweets! Sorry I'm pants today!! Busy selling kitchens

Whatsername17 · 07/01/2017 20:45

I've a feeling I'm going to be rubbish at maternity leave. Well, the bit before the baby arrives anyway. Dh and dd wanted a home day today. We've done all of the cleaning, dd has just wanted to play, dh has done some writing and I'm already bored. I'm dreading Monday when they are out at school! I'm too heavy and uncomfortable for work but useless on my own! Come of baby!!!!

Badgerbird · 07/01/2017 20:53

Oh netflix it's soooooo hard isn't it!! I hadn't made it past epu before either, it's quite a step! Wishing you loads of luck

Good luck for your scan too mrsalan! It seems nuts how many of us have to chase up this kind of thing.

purpleviolet1 · 07/01/2017 21:39

Sah, thanks for the advice. It was the pharmacist who told me to get soothers/ sucky throat sweets to help my throat.. she said to avoid anything with anaesthetic properties as that's not recommended in pregnancy.

I used a heat pad last night not realising that would be an issue, wonder what the diff is between hot water bottle and heat pad... I've bought a brand new pack as well Sad the pain is in the middle of my back so kinda difficult to hold a hot water bottle against it

I phoned triage today as the movement has totally ramped up and I had a yellow/green discharge , I thought the baby might be distressed but she said I need to determine if it was watery (in which case it would the fluid from around the baby and I need to be seen asap) or discharge which can be normal. I said I would keep an eye. A year to the day that I had medical management for my first mc so not sure if that is subconsciously playing on my mind...

LynseyH · 07/01/2017 21:53

I have so much pain in the very top of my left leg, baby is moving around and I'm doing all I can not to squeal and be a whiner. I'm sure it's a nerve thing but it really hurts!!

OP posts:
fuzzywuzzy · 07/01/2017 22:07

Purple I think the heat thing is to avoid raising your core temperature. I don't think that would happen with a heat pad in the small of your back.

It's the reason hot baths and saunas are meant to be avoided.

Hope you feel better soon.

Lynsey can you just rest your leg for a bit? I can't think of any suggestions for s trapped nerve, sounds very painful.

Whatsername17 · 07/01/2017 22:30

Purple I used a heat pad for my bad back a few weeks back. It was recommended by my midwife as I couldn't take anything or use any creams. I had a trapped nerve.

Whatsername17 · 07/01/2017 22:32

It's a year to the day Monday that I actually miscarried too. I think that is playing on my mind and making Monday seem harder.

LynseyH · 07/01/2017 22:53

I was laying on the sofa at the time of writing fuzzy. It was the longest I've sat down today but I don't think that's affected it. I've been getting the twinges for days but they just seemed much more intense tonight and also it'd spread. I'm off to bed now so hopefully it'll be better tomorrow. If this is a sign of what the last few weeks will be like, I'm hoping it goes fast!!
