Hope everyone has had a relaxing day...

Alb as people have said, 16 week is standard, but my MW did nothing at mine! I felt it was such a waste of time. However I know it depends on where you are in the country, it seems here until you get to 25 weeks they don't do a lot! So exciting you're finding out the sex soon!!

Welcome hbmelon... I'm the same as others, I had a scan at 5,6,7 weeks and didn't ever tell me actual heart rate. Just seeing one is a good sign! Fingers x for you.

purple sorry you've got a cold Sad hope it disappears soon!! I'm so jealous of how organised you are!! I have made a sort of wish list today on Amazon as people have been asking what I would like as gifts. I feel really spoilt making one though! It's not like I'm getting married!

Waiting for my dad to fit a new window in the nursery then we can get cracking with buying a cot etc!

purpleviolet1 · 01/01/2017 17:34

Lol jpeg we literally just went to M&P and chose things. I had a brief look around beforehand but it was getting too stressful and M&P have a good range and with the sale prices it all seemed reasonable. Only really got the bigger items though. Nothing at all clothes wise. Think I'll leave that till later.

The Amazon wish list sounds so cool! Think my parents will be giving us money. As for other family friends it'll probably be more token gifts / outfits etc so thats fine.

My cold feels better today but still waves of exhaustion and acheyness. I slept well last night which I think has made a massive difference.

Happy new year ladies!
Badger lovely to hear from you!!
Don't stay away that long again lol
Watser and Lynsey & carrick I can't believe it's nearly due date time! I reckon carrick will go next week, then watser the week after then lyns the week after lol

Welcome to the new ladies and I hope for good luck on this new journey for you xx

I've been unwell, woke up with a sore nose! About 4 days ago, bizarre I know, left it 2 days and then my nose became so red and inflamed I was waking up hourly with the pain, plus heartburn which i never get so I went the docs, for anti's and then I started panicking because I hadn't felt much movement from the little sausage so I rang the hozzy and they told me to pop up, they had a listen, did some obs then a lovely but incredibly young doctor popped In to see me, he said everything seemed as it should but he's booked me a scan for Tuesday to just have a extra check up.
I came away feeling ok but then noticed my knickers where quite damp so started panicking about that then!
I've rested and not noticed any more 'wet'so perhaps it was a bit of wee lol not usual for me but this is baby no.6 lol
I'm going through that paranoia of the 'would he survive if born now' stage and I've just got to get to 28/30 weeks then I'll relax, I spent all evening feeling dreadfully worried 😩
I've been chilling out all day on the sofa and I've literally only moved to do 2 lots of laundry and to make a potato salad to with tea as hubby can't do that lol little sausage has been moving at least every hour so I'm trying to tell myself to stay sane!

Can't remember if I mentioned but I've had angelcare monitors and pads with all my babies and I wouldn't be without one, if always say tho buy new as you can't be 💯 sure that your buying a working one second hand.
I always buy a new one and gift my old one.
I'm still to do my hospital bag but I think it's just common sense to have our bags ready from at least 20 weeks as there's always a chance you would take yourself in to hospital over a little worry or something that they say they would like to keep an eye on your for the evening so it makes sense, I do the baby's bag at about 36 weeks, again I always go over the top as with my first I packed naively and had to stay in for 7 days as he was jaundiced and went i sent the hubby for supplies he came back with all sorts of the wrong things lol
(Even though everything was all labelled in the wardrobe!) lol

Marks and Spencer do some really beautiful cotton baby grows in a snowy white at a really reasonable price so I'd say throw an extra pack of those in your bag in 1 month as you get more wear than newborn ones and they wash handsomely
Xxxx

Whatsername17 · 01/01/2017 18:03

Purple I don't think either of us would have imagined wed be here after how awful this time last year was! Sorry you aren't feeling well- I'm just getting over a rotten cold myself! I'd recommend a car seat blanket for newborns, that way if it gets chilly you are prepared!

Naschkatze · 01/01/2017 19:03

Sorry to those of you feeling unwell and welcome to everyone new. Hope you've managed to have a relaxing day.

Whatser glad your BP came down and you can stay at home. 8 days of work will fly past!
I've got 29 days of work, from Tuesday and am already on count down! I'm regretting saying I'd work so late; if there is a next time I won't be so silly.

Struggling a little this evening.. this time last year I was on the phone to 111 having started bleeding at 10 weeks. January became a blur of hospital visits, anxiety and unpleasantness... I'm trying to remind myself that I'm very lucky to now be 32 weeks and baby is trying to help by rolling around and pushing its bottom into my ribs lots!

Also, DH was asking about an evening out with colleagues at the end of the month (checking we didn't have plans etc). I've asked him to not drink and drive there instead 'just in case'... Wrong board but AIBU? He agreed but now I'm wondering whether it's silly of me. I will be 36 weeks.
Already starting to get anxious about being away from home in case something happens!

Whatsername17 · 01/01/2017 19:12

Christmas has been a big reminder for me too, Nasch. The time from the scan to the loss was almost 3 weeks. It was a hideous time and I'll never get over it. But we move forward and that's all we can do. I asked dh not to drink on his works night out. I think its a fine precaution.

NetflixandBill · 01/01/2017 19:22

Happy new year everyone!

10+6 today and no signs of trouble but that doesn't mean i'm reassured! 11 days to go until the 12 week scan so i'm hoping it flies in so that we know whether there is anything there or not. Symptoms wise- i'm still not really interested in food, just grazing really, and my boobs feel really heavy. I feel like i'm swelling a bit in the middle too but then so is everyone the week after christmas!!

Midwife called me this week to make my booking appointment. I really didn't want to do it before the scan but she says it has to be before then so i'll go with it- this Thursday. Still no green notes as yet.

Well and truly tired of festivities! Pretty sure everyone twigged that i wasn't drinking, but i did appreciate the fact that they pretended not to notice! Theyre good folks.

nasche i think YANBU to ask him to be prepared but then again if you feel perfectly fine on the day, it's unlikely you'll be in established labour in the time it takes him to have a meal out. If he could realistically get home easily enough in a taxi, and isn't likely to be too worse for wear should you start to feel something, then maybe he could have a couple of drinks? Maybe see how you feel on the day?

Naschkatze · 01/01/2017 19:35

Wise words Whatser. Flowers

Netflix thank you for a very sensible suggestion! I am embarrassed that I didn't think of that kind of compromise... Blush Immediately anxiety kicked in and clouded my judgement. I will tell him we'll see how I'm feeling at the time; if there are signs of labour on the day then I'll ask him not to drink. I've had a couple of friends/colleagues go into labour early in the last year so it is on my mind as a possibility!

jpeg28 · 02/01/2017 11:01

Really worried this morning... perhaps someone can put my mind at ease!

I'm 24+6 and as most of you know I have an anterior placenta. I'm still feeling hardly any movement at all. Just had a bath and nothing. Last night I thought I was feeling movement and then I worried that maybe it was just gas!! So far all the movement I have felt has been in the exact same place (lower right side) so now I'm worrying that it wasn't ever movement in the first place!! I'm also feeling a sort of pressure lower down. I have a MW appointment Wednesday morning and hoping I'll get to hear the heartbeat.... I'm just getting myself really worked up about it!

Naschkatze · 02/01/2017 11:17

Jpeg I felt the same a number of times around 24 weeks. My midwife said if I thought I was feeling movement, I probably was. It is hard to tell sometimes though.
I called them a few times in those few weeks; they suggested drinking a cold sugary drink and lying down on my left for a while and paying attention to movements. The hospital wouldn't monitor until 26 weeks but did say they could check the heartbeat if I was still worried. They also said that baby was still so small that if they turned and were kicking into your back then you wouldn't feel it and I guess this is even more true with an anterior placenta.
Another thing we tried was my DH putting his ear to my tummy - he would nearly always hear movement even if I couldn't feel it! (I'm not sure if you've mentioned a DP so huge apologies if I'm jumping to conclusions...)

Naschkatze · 02/01/2017 11:21

If you are worried do call maternity unit though - they've never made me feel silly for ringing and always put my mind at ease.

jpeg28 · 02/01/2017 11:37

Thanks Nasch that has put my mind at ease! I'll get my DP to have a listen later on Grin there doesn't ever seem to be a time where the anxiety goes away!!

Badgerbird · 02/01/2017 13:53

netflix I know what you mean about not wanting booking in appointment before scan. I had a meltdown as soon as I got to my booking in appointment and explained that maybe we should wait until after scan as it could be a horribly sad waste of time.... I had a wonderful midwife who said I could if I wanted but more than likely baby is fine and it might be nice to do something positive. I went ahead and really enjoyed it :) I hope all goes well with yours.

bec sounded like you needed a day chilling on the sofa after your horrible Drs, hospital, sore nose, no movement expedition!! So pleased everything seems ok and they are keeping an eye on you :)

LynseyH · 02/01/2017 15:36

Hi all. *xxbec I don't think it'll be as soon as 3 weeks but with less than 6 weeks til our due date, I am excited now!
I think my nesting has kicked in. I've really gone to town on the house and it's looking so much nicer. Once the boys are back to school and nursery, I already have my gloss and paintbrush ready! Really want to do the glossing before baby comes as it's such a lingering and strong smell. Thankfully there isn't much to do!

knorrig · 02/01/2017 17:11

Happy new year all, thank you for keeping me sane for the latter part of 2016!

Glad everyone is well, hope you're better v soon whatser. Today is the first day I can swallow without pain and feeling generally better...typical that it's in time for going back to work tomorrow!

Now 15+2. Can I ask how you all got your 16 week midwife appointment? I saw the midwife at 7 weeks and as we moved house (only a couple of miles) she said to me I could go to new docs and sort a midwife there (but didn't say I had to as still same kind of area) I completely forgot to enrol in the new docs but will do so tomorrow, do you think if I ask them then I can sort it out or shall I ring the MW I had the previous appointment with?

fuzzywuzzy · 02/01/2017 19:57

Knorrig midwife gave me my 16 week appt at my booking in appt.

Can you do both sign up with your new GP and ring the midwife?

XxBecxX · 03/01/2017 08:54

Awww jpeg I know how you feel, you know I have a similar situation going on and I really do think it's an odd experiment having the placenta upfront, a first for me and also the latest I have experienced movements, maybe your belly muscle are just so good and tight you've got to wait for him to get nice and heavy before he kicks right through? Or if you have ever been over weight your belly muscle can be slacker and that can also hinder you feeling him, I would say to ring the midwife or doc and tell them that you feel anxious over it and ask for a growth scan, insist on one, then about an hour before hand eat copious amounts of chocolate and sugary drinks then whilst your being scanned you will see the baby moving and maybe able to put a feeling to the movement if that makes sense?
The sugar is just to make sure he's up and awake lol
When I used to use my dopler he would kick it and move away and even though I couldn't physically sense the feeling of the kick I could hear it through the mic,

I dunno you know Lyns I've a feeling you'll go early and I'm sensing 6lb 6 lol

XxBecxX · 03/01/2017 08:56

Experience*

XxBecxX · 03/01/2017 09:05

Knorrig, I wouldn't worry to much about getting a new doc unless you are out of the catchment area or if you weren't to keen on the gp or the MW then it's a god opportunity to have a change, once I moved area and liked my doctor so decided to not change surgery and the MW refused me care (afterwards when the baby was born) as I was too far when I was only 3 miles away from the surgery, as I was seen through the hospital and never needed to see her at the surgery the problem didn't arise until it was too late to amend.

With my 16 week app I had to book well in advance, I was told to after my booking in but I said I wouldn't do it until I had had my nuchal and so that's what I did.
When I had that appointment she booked me my appointments upto 25/28 weeks so they were all booked in ready.

Got my scan today re my trip to the hospital Friday, hope it goes ok, I kind of feel like the more your can stay away from intervention the less bad news they can tell you 😬

LynseyH · 03/01/2017 09:21

Hope all goes well this morning xxbec. I like the sound of 6lb 6oz, I like the sound of being abit earlier too- just as long as it doesn't cause any concerns!!

Movement is just another worry isn't it. I've thought the last few weeks that there really has been no routine to it at all. If I'm being lazy, little one is hyper and bouncing, if I'm busy, she sleeps through it! Sometimes her movements have me gasping for air and other times it simply just like a rolling or stretching I can feel.
My point is, if your worried, get checked, talk to someone. When I went in for lack of movement, I was lectured about not going sooner, they never made me silly or like I was wrong to be worried.

OP posts:
knorrig · 03/01/2017 10:29

I had my nuchal test done on 20th Dec - they couldn't do a blood test then and told me that because it started as a twin pregnancy the results could be skewed so they wouldn't do it.

The told me all measurements seemed fine and under the risk figure.

The hospital have just called and told me that I have a 1 in 76 chance now for Downs - I know this is largely based on my age (37 nearly 38) but do you think this seems high? I'm worried now and now sure whether to pay for further private tests but I think they're about £400!

MrsAlanPartridge · 03/01/2017 10:35

Hey all Smile Hope everyone is doing well and wishing strength to those having wobbles.
Well, I am 12 weeks today. Seeing MW on Saturday and anxiously awaiting a scan date. I'm a bit of a mess now to be honest - I just want to know all is OK. I'm still not convinced I haven't had another MMC Sad
And I haven't got stuff I had by this stage with my previous pgs- no spd, and with number 4 I was feeling definite flutters by 10 weeks. Nothing here.
So hard to keep it together! I just hope they hurry up and get me a scan very soon as I think whatever the outcome, my sanity needs to know..

XxBecxX · 03/01/2017 10:46

I don't think that's particularly high knorrig, I honestly think it's the twin start that have skewed up your results, like I've previously said if the prize was a good one, odds of 1/76 ain't that great, but as it's an outcome most would like to seriously avoid we put more weight in our 'one' chance.
I would request an appointment and see what the doctor/consultant had to say, I thought that they where only ever slightly concerns of it was 1/25 in which case you 3 x times out of that bracket.
It's a really hard one, my little frank who's now 4 was a 1/100000 something minuscule, I was 29, this time I'm 34 and my risk is 1/1500, I was slightly alarmed based on my past chances but I tried my best to put it into some sort of perspective, a bit easier with my odds obviously.
Sending you reasurring hugs xx

Knorrig try to not worry, I'm on baby no.6 and I like you usually feel flutters and pops from very very early on, probably experience helping us out but with this little one as I have an anterior placenta it has masked his antics right up until 20 plus weeks!
Also the only symptoms I have had has been ever so slightly tender boobs, and a pulling stitch to either the left or right at no particular time!

cucumbershed · 03/01/2017 11:02

Hi all, mind if I join? I've been following for a few weeks since finding I was pregnant again following mmc discovered at what should have been 11 weeks in October. It had taken well over a year to conceive that one (pcos) so was somewhat surprised to get a positive test again! I reckon I'm 6+6 and bloody petrified. Never seen so much blood as when the miscarriage started (day before planned erpc) and ended up in hospital for 3 days. Hope 2017 is happier for us all!

knorrig · 03/01/2017 11:03

Thanks Bec - I've just found my notes and the nuchal measurement was 2.3 and some googling has reassured me on that front. They said the only option for me now if I want to pursue further is the private test which costs £495 in my area. Just spoke to OH and he said not to worry and reassured me.
