Welcome to those of you new here; wishing you straightforward and healthy pregnancies!

Moonlight I was given a similar secret santa present! I'm sure it will come in handy but it was a tad embarrassing...

Lynsey mine are very similar. I feel pushes and nudges but the big kicks are much rarer. So, I hope it's normal but I've been wondering the same thing. Hopefully someone else will offer some wisdom.

Also, not sure if I'm feeling hiccups every now and again - can anyone describe what they feel like?!

We've got the private growth scan I booked tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing baby again and checking he/she is comfy and happy in there! Hoping the sonographer can keep the sex a secret even at this late stage!

Whatsername17 · 27/12/2016 23:01

Definitely in the pushes and stretching camp too! Glad to hear everyone has had a nice Christmas. I feel like we've managed to reclaim Christmas back this year. Last year was just so sad after finding out we'd lost the baby. I'm ill - have a stinking cold and sore throat. It's our wedding anniversary today so my mums had dd for a sleepover and dh and I are just snuggling under blankets watching reruns of 'Elementary'. We sure know how to live life! Haha!

fuzzywuzzy · 27/12/2016 23:42

Nasche, baby hiccups feel like a stronger version of those under eye twitches you get.

They're concentrated in one small area and go on for a length of time. So it feels like a corner of your stomach is going into small spasms.

I remember finding them quite irritating in my pregnancy with dd1.

LynseyH · 28/12/2016 00:13

Should not still be awake but wanted to come back and say baby has woken up and is having a good move around now (always the way after me panicking!) Still more fidgeting and stretching etc but she feels like she's trying to get out through my side so I'm happy! Movements today just felt a lot less noticeable. I did read there is less fluid and more baby at this stage (obvious when you think about it!) so that's why things can feel different now.

Thank you nasch and whatser for the feedback, it's appreciated to know I'm not on my own.
How strange that I've had my 3 boys and can't remember these things. My youngest is 4 in February (1 week after my due date!!) so I guess it's been a while!

Oh nasch forgot to say, hiccups are where you can feel baby move but it almost has a rhythm to it. You can count a few seconds between each one, exactly like you having them but in your bump! Sometimes I can see my bump move with each one. Some babies have hiccups lots and others not so much but must be a positive as it means baby is learning to swallow Smile

Naschkatze · 28/12/2016 09:16

Thanks everyone - I think baby has has hiccups then! It is an odd feeling!

Lynsey glad bump woke up for a midnight party, always the way! Hope you managed to get some sleep after being reassured.

LynseyH · 28/12/2016 09:32

I slept quite well thank you nasch :) hope you did too!

whatser are you around?! I need help please! I just bought the Angelsounds monitor ac401 as you recommended but noticed it says it requires a hardboard to make the sensor pad work? Where do I get that?! I typed it into amazon but it doesn't come up?
Anyone else looking for monitors, whatser helped me out with the recommendation and the reviews are also fantastic so take a look!

Whatsername17 · 28/12/2016 10:17

It means the Base of your cot or crib should be hard rather than a travel cot material type one. We used dd's with her moses basket and it was fine. X

LynseyH · 28/12/2016 10:37

Thank you whatser! I realised my baby brain was at work and I just didn't realise it ment a standard piece of hardboard, for some reason I'd got it in my head it ment something else!! Feel abit silly now! Blush

Thanks littlepooch I've just bought a paca pod... cannot believe how much I've spent on it!!! But it was OHs xmas present to me so not too bad!

Thanks for the baby monitor tip Lynsey and whatser I think I'll get that one!

Whatsername17 · 28/12/2016 14:28

Glad it's not just me with the baby brain! I'm struggling with this cold today. All I want to do is eat cheese and onion crisps.

fuzzywuzzy · 28/12/2016 15:35

JPeg I want a pacapod now, but I've been wanting a Storksak for aaaages.

doleritedinosaur · 28/12/2016 16:13

Hi everyone, glad to see all had relatively good christmas's.
welcome to the new ones, I really hope the first trimester passes by easily & quickly for you.

I'm keeping an eye on monitors on my local Facebook group as there's usually a few on there. If this baby is like DS though won't end up using it as he was never put down for first 3 months.

lynsey when I don't feel movement I just end up putting a hand on the bump & they move quickly enough then.

I feel huge today, 30 weeks tomorrow but I'm the size I had DS at, at 37 weeks.
I've been having braxton hicks every every evening around 8pm & they last for about 2 hours, going to be interesting what midwife says next week.
Just felt baby flip around, starting to wonder how much space is in there.

12 days until I find out how new baby is coming out.

Hope you had a nice wedding anniversary whatser

Making my list tonight for hospital bags/house/what is left to do baby wise.

DS has stopped saying "oh dear" when we ask him what's in my bump now though.

Naschkatze · 28/12/2016 18:13

We had the growth scan today and all is looking good so I'm feeling reassured. Baby is estimated to weigh 4lbs or so and we had a look in 4D Smile very cute chubby nose and he/she spent most of the time trying to put their toes in their mouth by the looks of it!

We then went and spent a lot of money in the sales! Bought sleeping bags, sheets and blankets, changing mat etc. Not much left on my list now, do need to look at monitors so will check out the angel care one. Thanks for the recommendation!

MoonlightMojitos · 28/12/2016 19:19

nasch so good to hear all is well :)

Eek we bought a pram today! I didn't want to get anything until after the 20 week scan but it was too good price in the sale for the one we wanted (uppababy vista).

The angel care monitor is on my list too, purely because it's a best seller but I don't know anyone who's actually used it so good to hear a recommendation!

LynseyH · 28/12/2016 19:44

That's lovely nasch
dino I was really giving her a good all nudge last night and pushing my bump around but she wouldn't budge! Today has been very different, I've sat down an awful lot more and she's been a lot more active.
Your DS saying "oh dear" to your bump made me laugh! I love how children have no filter Grin
whatser hope your feeling better now than earlier. Really is rotten to be ill whilst pregnant. Another quick question (apologies if I'm going to sound silly again!!) But the monitor mat thingy, does it go on top or under the mattress? I'm presuming it needs to touch baby to pick up movements etc but needing a solid base suggests under the mattress. I know it'll be in the instructions but it's been bugging me for a few hours! Thank you in advance for putting up with me today!

doleritedinosaur · 29/12/2016 08:03

Morning everybody, I've actually had sleep for almost 8 hours with no disturbances or having to make toast at 4am. Had some awful nights lately.

Awww Nasch that scan sounds so lovely.

Glad she's moving more for you lynsey hope she keeps it up for you.
I know! I have no idea where he got it from but it was oh dear anytime bump was mentioned. Now he stares at the movement haha.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

30 weeks today, really not long to go.

Whatsername17 · 29/12/2016 09:44

It goes under the mattress. It will still pick up on babies movements even if it's under a really thick mattress. I feel so poorly and very sorry for myself. Really want to feel better so I can get the house ready for the baby to come. Dh won't take the trees and decorations down until the 2nd of January and I'm going back to work for 8 days on the 4th. I'm itching to get everything packed away and all of the baby stuff out!

knorrig · 29/12/2016 11:52

Feeling for you whatser...I have what feels like tonsillitis which keeps waking me up in the night and throats feels so painful 😔 I'm taking paracetamol but wondering if I should go to the walk in centre and try and get antibiotics (have googled and there are some we can still take when pregnant)

purpleviolet1 · 29/12/2016 12:12

Defo get some
Antibiotics , you don't want it to get worse.. the pregnancy already leaves you vulnerable...

fuzzywuzzy · 29/12/2016 12:19

Knitting definitely go to the walk in centre, do not leave tonsillitis to get better on its own, most of the time it gets worse and you don't want any additional infections from the tonsillitis (been there).

Hope you feel better soon.

Is everyone off for the Christmas/new year period? I'm spending most of my time sleeping, amazing how tired I feel!

I think I can feel baby move a bit more feels like bubbles, not the little tickles I felt with my DC. No kicks yet, but feels a bit calmer that (I think) I feel movement. I'm betting the placenta is at the front as movements are so vague.

Hope everyone can relax over the next few days.

fuzzywuzzy · 29/12/2016 12:19

Knorrig not knitting stupid autocorrect

LynseyH · 29/12/2016 15:37

Thank you once again whatser. Feel so much more paranoid this time around. I keep thinking if baby didn't stir for awhile, I'll be so tired I'd probably not notice until it were too late. At least this will give me peace of mind whilst we're both resting.
So sorry to hear your still feeling so poorly. My Dad had a very nasty cold just before Christmas which he caught from someone else who'd had it, it's obviously doing the rounds. My Dad still has a lingering cough now.
knorrig Something else doing the rounds is tonsillitis! My youngest son had it a week before Christmas and a friends little one also had it (they'd not seen each other so hadn't passed between our families). Antibiotics do clear it very quickly but doctors can be reluctant to prescribe them before having it for a fair few days in adults. I suffered with it regularly in my teen years and eventually I told the doctor I'd had it for 4 days already when in reality I'd only been poorly a day but knew what was to come. Get seen and hopefully you'll be back to normal in a few days.

I'd had enough of our giant tree taking so much space up the other day so said to my partner I'd like to take it down. He agreed it would be nice to put the room back to normal, but we got carried away and took everything down! So mine have been all put away since the 27th... bit sad but glad it's all away to be honest.
I have my scan tomorrow for the kidney fluid to know for sure if it's gone. Some of you may remember I asked at my growth scan and they seemed to think all looked ok but tomorrow's scan is specifically for that so at least I'll know for sure.
Next job is definitely putting everything ready incase the home birth can't happen for whatever reason.
I keep putting it off but I will do it soon! 33+6 so basically down to the 6 weeks countdown.... a week early with all the boys means potentially only 5 weeks left...so exciting!!!

OP posts:
knorrig · 29/12/2016 17:00

I went to the walk in and the doc said it was just laryngitis rather than tonsillitis (checked for white spots that are visible with tonsillitis) and wouldn't give antibiotics unless it persisted - I told him it had been a week and I was pregnant! It did feel like he was a little bit dismissive but it was so busy in there he was prob just being efficient. I probably looked like a crazy woman in the waiting room as I sat with my scarf across my face as it was so busy with people coughing and spluttering.

I'll see how it is and go back on sat if still there and demand antibiotics!

jpeg28 · 29/12/2016 17:48

Sorry whatser and knorrig that you're both feeling so unwell. I hope you both get better soon.

Hope the scan goes well tomorrow lynsey! 5 weeks is so close!!

I'm finally home after leaving Devon at 9am this morning!! Haven't been home for 2 weeks so I have so much to get sorted! Left OH at his parents for a few more days and I'm now sat on the sofa eating (even more) xmas chocolates!! I'm desperate to get the tree etc down and get back to normal!
